Why are ponies protrayed as weak? · 2:36pm Jan 30th, 2013
Sure ponies seem to be non-combative and relatively peaceful. But that doesn't mean that are push overs! I mean come on even Rarity freaking kicked a manticore in the face! I bet you couldn't do that. In any case too often I see the main six needing to be saved by humans against an alien threat or even threats native to the world. I don't think they'd fair to badly against invaders. Even if they got overwhelmed quickly by the changelings, but that's different at any moment an ally could easily be an enemy. In that situation it'd be hard to defend anything when your enemy can perfectly mimic your comrades in arms. Now look at the main six they all have impressive abilities that could easily be used for combat. Given a little motivation and tactical training there wouldn't be much they couldn't handle. Plus freaking magic for crying out loud! Plus there is some technology not much but enough to probably have a reverse engineering capabilities. Honestly they might lose or have fairly even battles in the beginning of a protracted war, I'd bet that'd change quickly to decisive victories soon enough.
Here's something where the ponies take a page from Kratos' book.

Count the changelings in the picture. Anyone would be overwhelmed by those numbers.
I agree with your thesis in general--I don't think that the ponies are weak, despite what a lot of other users on this site seem to believe. If Chrysalis sent that many changelings just to keep the Elements of Harmony away from anypony, how many others did she have to subdue the Royal Guard?
