Have you ever wanted to help fill a psychiatric ward with a little part of yourself?
If so, then please seek help. But before you do check yourself in, celebrate! For it is also your lucky day! Well, as lucky as I can make it over the internet, really. To help me better fill in my story Asylum with some background characters, I am accepting submissions for OC ponies to be included! Considering that the story is dealing with insanity and mental illness this course of action seems a thematic fit, for I am surely inviting madness by making such a request. The can of worms has been opened!
Now to clarify, I'm looking for ponies to appear in the background, so we are talking about nothing more than a short description of a passing patient or a doctor's name being dropped in a conversation. That is it. So let me just lay down the two cardinal rules first:
1) No alicorns, non-ponies, or otherwise extremely ‘exotic’ characters. If your character is a zebra, yay! If it is a bionic-clockwork zebra soldier with a brass leg that is a combination sword/can-opener/teddy bear, it’s not going to be accepted. Common sense applies here as to what is suitable for a background character - I'm looking for Ice Cream Maker Guy, not Darth Vader.
2) Please don’t send me a full life story. While I would love to read them all, I won’t be able to include any of it in what I write. A well-written tale about a lost scion of the Equestrian nation who finally found his way home after years abroad living the life of a charming rogue to challenge those that had disgraced him would make for good reading and wonderful character development, but you can't express any of it through a one sentence description of a janitor mopping up the floor at night. *Takes down note for potential future story*

Any illnesses you wish to ascribe to your character will be considered as well, although I can't guarantee anything considering I'm looking for background ponies. Cash gifts (bribe is such an ugly word) will be taken into account accordingly - no pun intended. The names are honestly the most useful to me, since I am absolutely rubbish at coming up with good ones, and having suitable names to call upon would help me add a little flavor to my scenes.
If I like the name or something about the description catches my eye, I'll reply to your IM to let you know if I'm going to include your OC in an upcoming chapter, and I'll give you full credit in a relevant future post. And just for an update, I have started on the next chapter already. Hopefully it should answer some questions - and likely create some more.

He is insistant on believing the world isn't real and just make believe and that we are controlled against our will. He often tries to hurt himself usually saying "Pain is nothing but a simulated feeling."
The incident leaving him in this state invole a high speed flight accident resulting in blunt force trauma to the head. The patient had bouts of sociopathic tendencies before the accident but not enough to be considered mentally unstable.

Went crazy at around the age of 6 and started attacking ponies, saying the virus was spreading. No documentation about any found viruses. Many mental breakdowns over the next view years.
Currently in cell because of very high aggression and only talking in 1 anend 0. Considered insane.

Role preference (doctor, patient, orderly, or none): patient, is absolutely convinced that she is an alicorn princess responsible for saving the world several times. lapses in and out of partial lucidity (e. g, most of the time she's rambling as if talking to people, completely immersed in her own experience. Sometimes, however, she's more aware of 'real-world' stimuli (though she still refuses to comprehend the idea that she is not, in fact, a Princess).
She'll often (during periods of partial lucidity) refer to the doctors as nobility, regents, citizens, things like that.

Physical description: Skinny male Unicorn, medium black hair with white strike, has fermats last theorem (x^3+y^3=z^3) as his cutie mark.
Role: Patient, OCD to the point of serious mysophobia. Has a number of chemical burns on face and hooves from using strong cleaning agents. Whilst also being considered a mathematical genius, suffers from arithmomania, and constantly tries to count patterns and becomes exceedingly distressed if he feels he has made an error or finished

Short physical description:
Stallion, unicorn. Quite large, but average amongst the male ponies. Bigger than female, smaller than Big Mac (if that helps). Black mane that's blown back like Soarin's, and is filled in with white. Gray coat, black and white tail. Tail is much similar to that of Dash's, but it doesn't have black and white streaks, it just has a black outline, and an inner white filling. Here's a picture:
Before you ask, no, it's not female. I just don't have a male vectorization with the tail style. The style that this pic shows is how I have it now.

Patient: suffering from Severe Depression. The depression basically causes him to talk to himself, and ponies who aren't there. Yet, he holds quite an intellectual conversation when not distracted by his 'ghost ponies'. Now, that being said, he's also short tempered. A simple interruption between him and his 'companions' can cause him to have a violent outburst. He's usually seen alone, and quite joyful when not bothered.
For help with how long he's been there, let's say a few years at most. Up to you, though.

Name, Grazer Grass. Race, Earth Pony. His coat is a dark, rich green.
Has an afro (taken in when it was stylish) of light green hair and the tail is weirdly crimped in four places. Eyecolor is a dark cobalt.
Preference, none, however if the patient role is taken, he suffers from strange delusions in which he believes the world is on fire and his home and rather impressive lawn is burning down. He also understands that he has these visions but he can't remember anything when he has them. He aquired this through severe trauma when he started to raise a family and a fire burned down his home. Rately he suffers from CMRF, or cutie mark regession failure, where he undergoes frightening outbursts and tries to go home to his lawn.
Cutie mark is that of a pair of hedge clippers.
I don't have an OC, but I have some disorders and names. These may or may not fit your style or the story, but keep in mind that most pony names are very literal and pun-y.
Doctor names: Sound Mind, Well Being, Thinking Cap, Healing Hooves
Nurse names: Tender Care, Mercy
Patient names: Short Circuit, Mood Swing, Lost Marbles, Going Nuts, Few Short(?), Screw Loose(not original, I know)
Now for some disorders that I think could be very fun to write about (and read). I'm not a professional, or even an enthusiast really, but these sounded good from a web search.
Fregoli delusion - the delusional belief that everyone else is really just one person changing appearances and disguises, they are often paranoid that this other person is persecuting them
Extreme OCD
Cotard delusion - the person believes they are dead
Erotomania - a delusion that someone (often a stranger or someone famous) is in love with the affected person
Dissociative Identity Disorder - multiple personalities

She's now perfectly well adjusted, and holds the doctors in high regard. Has lots of awful puns.

A snarky secretary who grumbles, but keeps the paperwork from getting too out of hand. Is writing a novel about political intrigue in the Griffon Empire in his spare time.

Cutie Mark: Pile of white powder over a green leaf pointing down. Leaf resembles a heart.
Role: Doctor. Talented in the use of plants to create herbal medicines, especially ones involving stress relief.

Description: Dark brown pony with a black mohawk mane and black tail. face covered in black stubble's, and black rings around his eyes. Skinny, and slightly taller then other ponies. Cutie Mark is a syringe. Earth Pony.
Brief history and role: The once famous doctor that could cure anypony of their mental illness. Now after years of stress and constant exposure to the mentally disturbed he has turned into what he once helped cure. he suffers from schizophrenia, insomnia, and won't eat anything unless forced. He believes that a mysterious pony named Zal is his only friend.

Appearance: He's a light grey stallion with a brown mane and tail. Had a Nightmare Night skull mask (with a nail sticking out of it's forhead) permanently bonded to his face.

When he lost that fortune and ended up in foster care once his parents were arrested, he succumbed to substance abuse. Eventually, the drugs he was taking had damaged his brain to the point that he now believes himself to be a Canterlotian noble with a household of staff to tend to his every whim.
Oh, lovely. Time to give one of my backup characters terrible, terrible psychosis and set them free!

Name: Tome Bright (It's a pun on booksmart, you see.)
Physical Description: Blue body (darker than Rainbow or Trixie, but not navy) with navy mane and tail. Wears thick glasses and has a cutie mark showing a magnifying glass over a book, research being his main talent. A male unicorn.
Position: Patient.
Illness: Acute depression and anger issues stemming from impostor syndrome. Usually calm and somewhat meek, but will become angry if he is given praise, as he can't see himself as ever deserving it and holds an intense hate for false gratification. If the pony giving praise continues doing so even after being told to stop, he may become violent. He hasn't been at the asylum long, and is somewhat young (a teenager by human standards). He was institutionalized after attacking a counselor who tried to make him feel better about himself during treatment for his depression.

Description: He is a Tri colored unicorn, mane and tail of midnight blue, crimson red, and lilac purple. Body color is cobalt blue with a stripe of white down the center of his forehead, horn is a little longer than a full grow male unicorns horn should be even if he is just a few years older than a 'colt'. Having Hetrocroma his right eye is royal blue and the left is amber or maybe even gold int he right light. His cutie mark is of a Large jewel that has shattered into many shards.

Suffers from multiple personalities. Though his name is Geo he will never answer to it, he will only answer to the name of one of his personalities.
Eins: Calm and cool, will often just grin and nod or shake his head
Zwei : Intelligent, if a little creepy, will answer questions but will often ask questions in return that range from weather and sports to how other patients are fairing.
Drei: Cold and easily irritated. He is often found reading. Books he reads range from childrens books to advanced magical learning.
Vier: Similar to Zwei but tends to keep silent and always in deep thought.

Description: Earth pony stallion, though relatively weak physically. Blue coat, yellow or orange mane. Cutie Mark is a minus sign in a circle. Special talent is reasonable argument. Also has a smaller talent in psychology, the two talents being used together to achieve greater effects with patients and persuasion.

Gender: Male
Description: A fairly large navy blue earth pony stallion with a two toned light blue and black mane and tail (for style think rainbow dash, but a few inches longer for the mane). Has gray eyes and a scar on his face (starts from the upper right side of his right eye reaching up to the the right side of his upper lip), as well as other scar on his body, that look something like stab marks, claw marks and bite marks. His Cutie Mark is a Broad Sword pointing downward circled by four dagger with the blades going outward (forming a X pattern with the broadsword in the center).
For personality, in short, think Kenpachi Zaraki (from the anime Bleach), but unlike him, Iron Blaze is more cunning, silent, and never expresses his emotions or feelings. (also, though they share similarities, he is not as strong as Kenpachi Zaraki, nor does he possess powers similar to him nor any other supernatural abilities, but he is stronger, faster, and tougher than a normal earth pony stallion, as well as having predatory instincts, not common to ponies.)
Role Preference: Patient (for the reason why, read the second paragraph of the description, for those who watch/read Bleach, it is very obvious why he would be a patient.)
(And that's my character, sorry of it's a bit long, I tend to be very "descriptive" when writing about some thing.)

Role Preference: None. I originally envisioned this guy as a member of the clerical staff, but his name could lend itself either to a doctor or patient with a fascination for inkblot tests. If you choose to make him a patient, a manic obsession with documenting events, exacerbated by a phobia that existence itself is reliant upon observation and documentation could serve as his illness.

Aside from the obvious, he also has moderate psychopathy, and dissociative personality disorder. He recently was admitted into the hospital.

Whenever I hear "Cello Case Pony" and serial killer, I keep picturing it being a name given by the media ( Zodiac killer, etc.) for his method of killing/body disposal. I'm twisted like that. XD
