THE END OF (real) TIME · 1:55am Sep 5th, 2023

Good news and bad news.

Bad news first. I'm officially calling it: From this point on, Analemma will no longer be published in real time. Every chapter will still be pegged to an exact date and time on the 2023 calendar, but it won't be published at that exact date and time.

Like I mentioned in my previous blog, publishing in real time was a lot easier when I had months to spare before the publishing date. But at this point, with my non-pony life only continuing to get busier, the only way to keep up with the real time schedule would be to stay up all night writing for days on end, and eschew any sort of editing process. And I really don't want to sacrifice this story's quality, especially as it heads into Part Three.

Loosening the schedule gives me time to think about what I'm writing and reimagine what's not working. And, no guarantees, it might also give me time to go back to some previous chapters and rework plot points that I'm not happy with anymore... but that's only a vague possibility.

Trust me, this isn't a decision I made lightly. I LOVED LOVED LOVED the idea of publishing a story in real time, as it happens. That's the sort of metatextual shit that I live for. But I hope you can still enjoy how the story develops, even if chapters take a bit longer to come out.

And on that note — despite the schedule change, please don't assume that I'm abandoning the fic. Absolutely not. I may not publish a chapter every week (or multiple times per week), but it's still actively being updated.

So, what's the good news? Well, it's basically what I already explained: By abandoning the real time schedule, I actually have time to both write and edit without stress! That means a better story, and happier me!

I'm sorry that the fic couldn't work out exactly how I wanted, and I hope y'all aren't too disappointed. The comments you leave are what keep me going.

I'm finishing up the next chapter now, and I hope to have it out by the end of the week. Look forward to it! There are lots of moving parts — figuratively and literally.

(p.s.: If you wanted to buy one of my physical fic collections and weren't at EFNW, a way to buy them online is coming soon!)

honestly, I'm impressed that you kept it up as long as you did :) nothing to be ashamed of!

I'm completely fine with this. Making dates for when you want to get something done can be a challenge. It's one of the reasons I stopped making these stories myself. Still, knowing that the story won't get cancelled just makes me happy as I've been really enjoying it, and hate to see it not get a proper ending. I don't care how long it'll take til it's done, but I'm willing to wait until that happens.

Linear time was invented by clockmakers to sell watches.

It was an incredibly ambitious idea, and you managed to pull it off for an impressive amount of time, but I definitely understand not being able to adhere to that. Won't take away from my enjoyment of it, though

It's good stuff either way so as long as you aren't jumping ship on the fic it's all good.

It's all good. Quality over quantity.

These things happen. It's still an incredible story without the gimmick, and I'm looking forward to more of it.

TBH it is super impressive what you have done so far, so kudos to you!

I don't think I've ever related to a Sunset picture more than that top one.

It's no shame when ambition crashes up against reality. Like when I want to work on a story but play 70 hours of Armored Core 6 instead.

I'm late to adding a comment here (considering how many I owe you, that's no surprise 😂), but wanted to add to the pile saying this project is still massively impressive and worthwhile whether or not it's live. I get the love for meta-narratives, I'm with you there! But I know what you have in store doesn't need it to shine.

And hey, maybe this'll give me a chance to get off my butt and catch up on comments finally!
