Cadence!Verse: Queen Chrysalis

Chrysalis

What if the changelings are a consistent threat throughout the nation? In this idea they invaded maybe a decade ago, they lost after Chrysalis was defeated and captured,. But before that, they had infiltrated into all parts of pony society and many managed to stay hidden within their stolen lives. With no unified leader, some fled, many were captured, but others avoided capture and started their own underground "hives" all hoping for the return of Chrysalis, their glorious Queen.

Chrysalis would have been barely defeated by Cadence in battle and captured. Then at the end of the season 1 premier, she'd break out as Cadence is incpatacitated due to Celestia and Luna and Chrysalis being something of a chess master, she either escapes in the premier or or sets up her escape for the future; intending to stay in prison until what ever defeated Cadence is dealt with.

I could imagine, a slightly different story where a villain at the end of S1 defeats Cadence or through some other means Chrysalis's cell is damaged, allowing her to escape and become the big bad for S2 instead; but regardless she's either the S1 or S2 big bad and a chess master. It's her lust for vengeance and ego, that get in the way of her pulling off things flawlessly. I'd imagine her going after artifacts, ancient books and maybe the elements to try and increase her magical power.

She's could be imprisoned within Tartarus, a dimension pocket prison or just a secured prison cell deep underground, sealed in and reinforced by Cadenzas magic, with ritual circles, steel doors and the like. Thus Cadence's temporary banishment weakens the spells enough for Chrysalis to break through them and escape or to create holes in her prisons's defenses so she can escape whenever she pleases.

Cadence -may- have kept her prisoner in the hopes of working something out, as her power is love she might hope to somehow feed the changelings or help them in some other way. (I doubt she likes the idea of an entire species starving to death, even her enemies.) Maybe something could be done in theory with the crystal heart, depending on if it was present/know or not. There wouldn't be any sort of experimentation on Chrysalis beyond basic physical/magical scans though, she's treated very "humanly".

I imagine their relationship would be sort of rival like. Chrysalis would still be a villain, but it could be a sort of a subversion of Rival Turned Evil in the sense she was always evil, but just treat each other like rivals because of their natures/magic/position/personalities.

I think Chrysalis would have one of three plans after escape. One overpower and replace Cadence, absorb the love her subjects give her and take over the country in secret.

Second, say screw it to subtly and try to blast Canterlot to rubble and get revenge on Cadence and Eqauestria, this driving the country into chaos and with no central government she'd be able to conquer it with ease.

Or third , something involving the Crystal heart and crystal ponies.

If anyone watched full metal alchemist I'd imagine a purely within the normal world physical prison would be allot like Greeds was.

Anyone else think I put to much thought into this? heh

I'm thinking of making this a recurring thing, where I do blog posts on how I would write the Cadenceverse or in a few minor cases other characters/fics, as a creative exercise and hopefully to get some discussions going :)
