    Nightmare Moon AU

I keep musing about ways Cadence being canon before S2 could have fun influences on fics and the story but I just had an idea for an AU where upon returning Nightmare Moon steals the Elements of Harmony before anyone even gets close to them. Twilight and company still become friends, but then they barely escape the castle being collapsed on them and have to be saved by Zecora; as they recover,

DBZ Aftershock Characters: Azure & Isheen

Azure, (filler name) the Samurai psychic. Azure in a tall, blond-ish haired man/woman (I originally planned woman but am thinking maybe guy now) is based of General Blue from the Mystic Adventure movie, both in appearance and uniform. (Blue was nominally a good guy in that film so food for thought.) They may be a reincarnation, maybe not, chances are folks wouldn't mention it or notice unless

DBZ Aftershock Characters: Yancy & Ran

    Set up For Cast:

The story follows a new generation of 'heroes'. Though most of them are more aptly called protagonists and in come cases are outright antagonists. Some of this cast fall under the guidance of Bulma, Korin and Roshi while others have their own support networks & agendas.

DBZ Aftershock Characters: Kin, Pepper & Villains · 3:12pm Apr 23rd, 2015

The primary antagonist! I've temporarily named her Kin for another OC I adored.

Unlike Ran who is a rival, Kim and her partner serve as something closer to villains, though not quite. Early on she is also the 'always someone better' until the protags catch up. Going to cover the appearance above super fast. Kim's basically a mix between a genderbent version of the protag from Devil May Cry and the protag of Burst Angel. She has short white hair, a dark under shirt, pants, boots and a red coat jacket thing. She's fairly muscular but not bulky and quite tall, at least at first, but that's also because she's not a teenager.

Background:

In the original post of this idea I said Roshi was oddly enthusiastic about taking Yancy on as a student. This was despite her being a reasonably attractive young woman and him being, well, Roshi. that's because in the past 10 years after the Cyborgs died he had another student. A small and at that time frail girl named Kin who he found half dead on a raft. She'd heard stories from her family before they died regarding the legendary Turtle Hermit and sought him out for training. She hoped he could make her powerful enough that she'd never have to suffer like that again. (Remember, Cyborg world, every bodies childhood sucked.)

Roshi however was not enthused. He was actually suffering from depression, or at least something close to it and had lost hope. Not only had all of his students found better teachers and surpassed him. Most were nothing before Goku and the others Super Sayian transformation (at the time anyway). And even that power was nothing to a mad man's science project. He felt like a failure, as a hero, a teacher, a martial artist and most of all as a father. But not willing to turn a hungry child away he agreed to take her on. Though he felt she had little talent for the work, despite being willing to bleed herself dry trying to get stronger. He made little secret of how he felt the time of martial arts had passed and how there were levels of power simple effort could not match. He wasn't cruel or so blunt, but the message was clear. One day after shocking him by demonstrating the Kame Hame ha she left, saying she needed greater masters. So Kin left, she sought out Tao, Shen, Korin, Popo, anyone and everyone she felt could help her grow stronger. She even sought Baba's council and possibly stole a left over gravity machine from Bulma.

As an adult she makes a living as a martial artist for hire, but spin doctor's herself into being a sort of hero, one who is close to the people and uses her powers wisely and carefully (where people can see). She's also established her own school after becoming world champion. Basically, Kim pulled a Mr Satan except she can & will back up her most powerful in the world title and can waste whole planets to prove it. Not that she'll say that. She serves as the always someone better, at least at first, and is a sort of enemy/goal for the other protags to reach.
Kim can also be hired by enemies or by allies, forcing them to work together or just have her own goals which can coincide or conflict. She actually likes the others fighters and while defeating them she hopes hoping they get stronger as she longs for powerful opponents to push her higher as well. How well she copes when it happens is another matter. I think she can serve as a good overarching threat without being an out and out villain.

Personality:

A harsh teacher Kin is even harsher on herself, working, training and experimenting endlessly to push her ki higher she is convinced that nothing is impossible. She's got a bit of a complex about proving Roshi wrong as well. But it mostly just involves a bit of boasting or shoving her power in his and his students faces, not nice, but it's not something that keeps her up at night. What does keep her up is trying to get stronger & surpass the Cyborgs legacy. She is aware that it will take even more to surpass the simple memory of the cyborgs let alone getting stronger. Her relationship with her student has some similarities to Piccolo and Gohan, but she's a bit more casual, but at the same time more critical.

She is generally cool and collected, with a bit of sarcasm thrown in, but can snap into a borderline drill sergeant. This is especially true on the job or when interacting with students and her apprentice. She usually projects and aura of assured confidence but can grow quite excitable when someone or something interesting happen, or various shades of irritable depending on circumstances. Kim can be quite short when growing impatient as well as harshly blunt when there are no cameras on her. (Comparison. She's a little like Tenshinhan before he became a hero. Though she can be even more vicious when there's no consequences or particularly annoyed so Vegeta's treatment of Cui might be a good example of how she can and will act when she's got a 'free pass'.)

She is very concerned with her public appearance, both so she can make the use of ki more common and to a degree for her own ego. She is also a strategic person, in fighting, in her personal life everywhere. Kim has little concern for 'standard' morales, though she has her own odd code. Her own pride and belief in hard work means she dislikes the idea of using magic or tech to make one's self stronger and despises those who haven't earned power with an incredible passion and fury. She doesn't mind magic users, but, for example, 'wishing' for more power would tick her off. It's the same idea with robotics, she'd respect Gero as he made himself powerful, but wouldn't respect 17/18 or Cell.

Fighting Style:

Out of all the cast she has the most control over her Ki, and I mean that she can do crazy things with it, including releasing powerful attacks from random places on her body (similar to Goku's feet Kame Hame Ha). She's also mastered the Kaio Ken thanks to Baba allowing her to see the fights and it's her ultimate Ace in the Hole. She can use variations on the multi-form and Gotenk's ghost technique. She does this to create sacrificial pawns that test an unusual or dangerous opponents/attacks, then she reverse engineers and improves on it for her own ends. She tries this for pretty much everything even if it's not Ki. (For example, if she fought one of the tech warriors in Dragon Ball Multiverse, she wouldn't stop until she'd found a way to mimic their gods blade and the like. Or at least not until she found a way to essentially no sell them through control alone.) She can and will try to tank big attacks but has a number of defensive techniques designed to make this safer. Though it does not always help and ties in with her desire to overpower an enemy, not just to hide her techniques and prove herself stronger.

She's gone out of her way to learn four witches which she's turned into a bastardised and exhausting regeneration technique. As for her actual potential, well as it was she wasn't born with a lot. However Roshi was used to working with people who started higher so his expectations were a bit off. Her particular area of 'talent' lies in analyzation, picking, choosing and strategizing about the best way to train to reach her goals. Essentially, she needs to break it down in her head and with her senses as she doesn't learn by words or with her body. She has rooms filled with scrolls and computers filler with research on ki, possible techniques and various ways she could use it.

Her power up technique is based on flames and changes colours in various shades to match the increase of power in various shades.

Concept:

I mentioned that special techniques would be important so for an example here's how I tend to picture the '1st' world tournament ending with Ran vs Kin. The former who wants to represent her family and possibly get them more money and clients, the latter who needs to maintain her title. However Ran's outfit was wrecked fighting Yancy forcing her to use the six arms over her defensive style. Therefore when it starts Kin asks if she's beginning like that, motioning towards the six arms, Ran confirms it because she knows that having seen her fight Kin can now tear that style apart easily and she'll have to rebuild the technique form the ground up to use it effectively again. Thus she tries to overpower her and brings out her third eye.

Kin's special technique is either the Kio Ken or a different most likely self designed technique.

Pepper the Apprentice!

Pepper is a thirteen year old Makyan/Makyajin, a demon, and distantly related to Garlic, his ilk & possibly Pilaf. She was sought out specifically by Kin to be her student for the potential to access the Dead Zone. Pepper idolises her master and regards her as a surrogate parent (Isheen may not approve of Kim's, essentially, parenting style.) Pepper is small with bluish skin and either white or black hair that spikes up and backwards and redish eyes. She has pointy teeth, ears and she wears a dark fighting uniform like her master minus the jacket and often accompanies her on missions for education. (Honestly Trunks's outfit minus the jacket is probably the best example.)

In some ways Pepper can be a bit of a bratty half pint, (to everyone except her teacher whom she is always happy to see and help, unless she disappointed Kin). She regards everyone else, especially Turtle school and Crane school martial artists as losers wasting their time trying to beat her master but will calm down when ordered. She desperately wants to live up to Kin's expectations. At the same time however, if they were to fight in a tournament she grows furious if the woman doesn't go all out. (Think Yomi and his son from Yu Yu Hakusho.) Suffice to say when Kin does the fight ends fast. Being the youngest cast member Pepper is the weakest of the fighters, though hardly weak. She can probably access the Dead Zone at some point which is Kin's trump card as both an escape route for them and a place to lock enemies too strong to beat, or even train in secret. .

Combat:

She a strong fighter, using her small size to her advantage for a speedy, chaotic assault and has unexpected strength given her size. She can bulk up like anyone else her species and her muscles and can channel and impressive amount of Ki quickly. But she's not as good at using it creatively, (so she's not so good at stuff like say the Kienzan or Spirit ball) so she's a bit of a fragile speedster. Not in the sense she'll be knocked out easy,b ut definitely knocked down, but with a stubborn mind and insane determination chances are she will keep getting back up even if Kin were begging her to stop. Pepper's greatest fear and frustration is not feeling she lives up to Kin's expectations. Despite Kin being a relatively balanced if tough master, and she is terrified of Kin abandoning her.

Special attacks:

Pepper, "Dead Zone!" Maybe :) Sorry about that, I wanted to include these somewhere. :twilightblush:

Also, post Shogun Showdown seen on the previous page:
Kim:
“Heh, kids.
Pepper:
“Master should we finish them off?”
“No there’s no money to be made here any-more, lets go.”

(Musing note.) I initially planned for the Antagonists student to be of the same species as Isheen and for her to have a lot of interest in the child.

Villains:

I can think of factions, but they'd be political or business enemies the protags can't just punch and I'm not sure what I'd do with them.

Shen and Tao could be starting their own school or teaching people crappy Ki techniques on the fly for a quick buck. Tao is likely still terrifying to regular folks given he's a cyborg, assuming he hasn't recovered and started growing in power. Barring random warriors and Kin being an obstacle I think the best villain would be Azures former boss. I could see this having elements from the Mystic Adventure movie, or at least the palace and abusive military.

Beyond that, I think I'd dip into various filer sources such as Shula from Goku Goes to Demon World, or Garlic. Shula could be a minor Demon Lord who hold a small realm on earth but needs to be fought after pulling a vile stunt, like kidnapping. As for Garlic, well there's a few options.

One problem that Emeral convinced me could be a boon is the lack of a Guardian. So rather than trying to find one I could make the search for a suitable one, & those who aren't suitable reaching for it, story arcs in themselves. In this context Garlic or the Psychic Shogun trying for the throne to make Earth their 'ideal' seems plausible. The end result may be Isheen one day taking up the role.

Beyond that, I'd probably take the Black Water Mist arc and try to do something with it. But if it's too hated I could create an original one, possibly involving Pepper being possessed form the Dead Zone. Which would likely involve Kin knocking her out, dumping her at Baba/Isheens feet along with a pile of money and saying 'fix it'. Though with the end result being Garlic and a bunch of his pals making another grab for power.

I could also use Wheelo as another potential enemy. Making him and Kochin brilliant, but not as brilliant as Gero or Bulma scientist. They would be making advanced Battle Jackets, pseudo human super soldiers and cyborgs. But these creations could be extremely unstable, along with powerful. There could be an element of 'reprogramming to it as well.
Another means of using Wheelo and or a movie is to either have Gero's computer or Wheelo (cribbing the 'good doctors notes) build 13, 14 & 15 along with other Androids out of desperation.

Beyond that I think other villains would also be from movies but working the 'destroy the world' angle, meaning they need to get taken down hard and fast.

Slug could be a Namek (or just an alien form a cold planet like his minions). But if he's a Namek he could have been a child when Frieza attacked and left traumatised and obsessed with power. He and other warriors (with noble or selfish intentions) could use the fusion in the hopes of becoming more powerful. But their collective fusion either went insane or was dominated by the selfish and wicked among them. Which leads to them being magically banished from the planet. He'd come to Earth for the DBs and opts to kill it all when they aren't there.

Turle's crusher corps are another example, another Sayian not being on Vegeta isn't exactly unbelievable given their line of work.

Finally, I could see Bojack and his Galaxy Soldiers serving as good final villains in terms of power and numbers. Maybe Babadi releases them but they're more than he can handle? Or maybe the Planet Trade Organisation swings by again?

Sheesh, now I can't stop Janemba opening hell up and the cast have to go help the afterlife quell the ensuing rebellion and crazy shenanigans happen.

I think, overall, this one is even longer than the first one and for that I apologize. Not surprising given this took me a whole day to edit, so thanks for taking the time to read it. I'm sorry if anything was confusing or poorly worded and the like, if so please ask and I'll do my best to correct the mistake. Any questions, critiques or comments are greatly appreciated.
