Trigger Happy - An update on my progress

    Hello fellow readers!

It's... been a while. Yes, last time I was here I'd gone for a hiatus after finishing up Trial 2 almost 5 months ago. In retrospect, taking a long break from writing was definitely something I needed, as otherwise I was in danger of burning out. This last month or so I started dipping into work on Trigger Happy once again, looking to get back in the game.

Shamelessly self-promoting my video content, because why not?

This blog is made in service of promoting my YouTube channel, the videos of which include podcast episodes made by my friend and I, and also some solo videos relating to Keyforge.

If that doesn't sound interesting to you, no worries! Most of you are probably only here for my fanfics, which is great! I appreciate the support. Take care out there.

Dealing with COVID and struggling to write.

    Well... this is unfortunate.

December was a busy month for me, both work-wise and personally, with sorting out things for Christmas and such, meaning I'd had hardly a chance to get any writing done. January rolls around and I finally get a chance to take some time off work to sort out various things, including cranking out that next chapter.

Trigger Happy - Deciding what to do · 6:39pm Jan 21st, 2023

Hello everyone,

It's been a little while since the most recent chapter where I finally put it to you, the readers, to uncover the secrets surrounding the second murder Trial. With 2 questions, not much in terms of narrowing down suspects, and a lot of ground to cover, I was anticipating that people would struggle to find the answers. What I didn't anticipate was receiving mostly radio silence. So far only one person has sent me a DM with an official guess, and I really don't want to release the next chapter on those terms. If I did, then people who might have been able to figure it out would lose that chance forever.

So... I'm trying to decide what I should do. I'm worried that this particular mystery has been made much too intimidating, and people are too overwhelmed to make any guesses. I really want to stress that you can feel free to just DM me any ideas you might have. Just straight up guess the answers, even if you have absolutely no clue. Spam me your wildest theories!

In the author's notes for the previous chapter I was originally going to give much more specific hints, but decided against it, instead offering very vague advice. Now I'm wondering if I should've just let loose and told you which chapters to search for answers in. But then again, I really don't want to do that. I want to help, but I don't want to give away too much. I'm starting to think I should rewrite the next chapter and split it into two parts to give people an extra push in a certain direction.

What are your thoughts?

I think people are just waiting for someone else to figure it out for them. Reader participation is a pretty rare thing these days.

You just keep writing the way you want to. I'll be here, guessing badly!

I think this is about right. Personally, I've just been struggling too much with personal and family trouble to really look into it. If people want more specific hints, you could let it be known that it's okay to ask.

Though I would suggest giving any hints in private, to prevent spoilers for those who don't want them.

Will DM my thoughts tommorow. Have been planning to just have been busy.

I've done some theorizing, but I've also been lazy doing other things. You can expect something from me soon. The interactive story style is fun, but it can also be time consuming, at least for me.

As for rewriting the next chapter, do what you feel works best for the story. I haven't looked at the hints yet, but I think I will once I put forth my theory. Maybe in the author's notes you could have something like "if you need more hints like what chapters to look in, feel free to DM"?

For as much as I've tried to join in on the interactive element thus far, I have to admit that I'm generally not the kind of person who actually tries to solve the mystery himself. I kinda prefer just going along for the ride and being surprised. That’s honestly more fun for me, and certainly less stressful. For perspective, I've never even played any of the Danganrompa games myself, just watched other people play them for me. :twilightsheepish:

That said, I have been enjoying the interactivity and trying to solve each little bit as it comes up. I just sorta lack the time and focus to go back through the whole thing and build the big picture. (It also doesn’t help that my brain is constantly busy with just making our mystery story fit together.) So to reiterate, I'm definitely liking the experience, but I hope you're not too disappointed if that's the area where I kinda drop the ball.
