Dear Google Docs · 9:51am Nov 14th, 2022
Please stop highlighting all my words in red just because I spelled them the British way. I get it, America is the only country in the world. Yadda yadda. But it makes editing really annoying as my eyes keep back tracking to perfectly acceptable words just because your programmers are uncultured.
Also, this new thing you're doing with the "unknown word" when I spell something really badly is kind of insulting. I don't know when that update happened, but please stop mocking me. I'm well aware I can't spell any word with more than 5 letters to save my life. Don't need any salt in that particular wound.
Some emotional support would be appreciated. At least humour me and try to guess what word I butchered. Also, It was pretty clear right there I meant to type butchered, not butchured. What was the only word you could come up with? Buttered. I swap out one wrong letter and suddenly I'm a fan of the old lard, huh? Some kinda margarine junky? Need my fatty fix?
Sincerely,
A Very Tired Writer.
If you move your cursor to a red-underlined word, it should give you a pop-up with the option to switch to British English
I feel so seen. It especially sucks because I can't just switch to British English, because while I do say grey, I don't say sabre.
Maybe I should actually just pick one but honestly that sounds like more effort that manually correcting gdocs every time.

Thank you for a serious response to my borderline-delirious 4 am ramblings but I prefer to think that this program is just out to get me, specifically.
Also as a Canadian my spelling is a bastardization of both, so whichever dictionary I choose I get the dreaded red underline. I'm just more used to using the American dictionary and ignoring when google cries about my fondness of extra u's in words. I can't win either way lol.

oh, that's gross and unfortunate D:

What about "add to personal dictionary?"
That should stop docs from highlighting your localisation differences. And as an American who uses British terms and spellings, I understand you perfectly.
