Hey my name is Chacho. I'm a light lavender pegasus with a purple mane, tail, and purple eyes. My cutie mark is a retro game controller because I absolutely loved playing video games even in my younger years. I am a bit on the short side but my lean muscles makes up for it in my opinion.
I am shy and bold at the same time, stubborn as a mule, and an absolutely loyal friend. My idol is Rainbow Dash; she’s only a year and a half older than I am. She never went to college; she took up a job with weather patrol after dropping out of high school her senior year. I train hard to be as fast as her and someday I will be faster. I was born in Cloudsdale but never went to school there because my parents were never home so I'd always been in Ponyville.
Now as a high-school stallion (I don't like to think of myself as a colt because I feel like I can be really mature most of the time) I have three years of hard work and lots of good memories under my belt, but this year, my senior year of high-school was going to be different. I wanted to do stuff I had never done before, like going to Canterlot or going to the local night club; I especially wanted to go to Hoof beats, go shopping ... Well I guess everything has to do with Canterlot because I have only gone there once or twice with my sister Prisma. Prisma is really my cousin but we grew up together like brother and sister and I didn't have any siblings that lived, played, or even talked to me.
My two older brothers were mechanic ponies (both being unicorns), one worked in Fillydelphia and the other right in Cloudsdale. Apparently the Princess' chariot seems to needed to be maintained more often than any other customer either of my brothers have ever had, but regardless, neither of them had time for me so Prisma hung out with me most of the time. She is a white alicorn with a rainbow mane and tail just like my favorite Wonderbolt Rainbow Dash. She doesn't want to be a Wonderbolt though, instead, Prisma wants to design video games and she is really good at drawing.
Enough of the back story and now to get to the real story.
I let out an audible sigh then started out the door of my chemistry class into the hallway toward my last class of the day; computer class. It was easily my favorite because I could hang with my friends and I was ahead in the work -- even though it was only the second week-- so I was able to just relax throughout the period doing nothing because there was only two assignments due for the month and both of mine were done.
Outside the door was one of my good friends who happened to be a really cute mare whom I'd recently become "good friends" with. Then there's the little detail of me having a crush on her. She has an elegant light brown coat and her mane and tail were black as night with a strange symbol as her cutie mark.
I never asked about it because I am terrible at talking to mares, so even now that we've become closer, I still can't find the courage to just up and ask her about it. Silly, huh? Oh, I forgot to mention the most important part of her. Her name. It's Sunny day. I laughed when she told me that, because she actually hated mornings and admitted she was more of a nighttime mare.
It was only the second week of classes and I wanted to be done already.
"Hey, Day" I shouted across the hall full of ponies and the mare noticed me as I approached her.
"Hey Chacho" she said as I hugged her, “what’s up?”
“nothing really Day; I just can't wait to get out of school today I've had a long day" I replied then sighed.
She cocked her head to the left and said, “bad morning I'm guessing?" I nodded simply "well the day is practically over and then you can go home after your next class unlike me. Ughh. You're lucky."
I let out a slight chuckle and agreed. "yea I know" sounding as arrogant as possible to get her to smile.
"ha ha very funny Chacho." she scoffed in a playful manner, "well looks like your teacher is looking for the rest of the students better get to class.”
"yeah I’ll see you later or maybe tomorrow" I gave her one more hug and went into my class.
Greeting my teacher with a hoof bump I headed to the back of the room and noticed my tall friend Caleb wasn't in today and the mare I helped a few times was sitting in his seat-- which was next to mine-- she was a short mare and wore glasses. Her cutie mark was a cupcake dish and I guessed she was good at baking them. She had a cream colored coat and light brown mane and tail it suited her well. Today I mustered up the courage to ask her name because she was sitting next to me for the period,
"hey my name's Chacho, I've helped you a few times and never asked what your name was."
"oh I'm Velvet Cake nice to see you again Chacho." she smiled and tilted her head to the right.
'She's kinda cute' I thought to myself as I sat down next to her and smiled back.
After a few minutes into the class Velvet started to look lost. She asked me for help and I helped her with most of it so she could finish. Soon after the assignment was finished she thanked me and started to talk to her friend two seats down I just plugged my headphones into the computer and listened to a few songs I liked. After a song or two the class bell rang and I took to the air and dashed straight to my locker. The school had a "no flying" code but as of now I am not supposed to be in school as far as I was concerned. At my locker getting my stuff together my two best friends started to call me from down the hall.
"Yo Chach (ch-ah-ch)"
"Yeeooo wassup guys" I replied. “Doing anything after school today?"
"Na, I’ll probably just go home and play some X-bon"
"wait till we get out next period and we can hang" Quills said.
Quills is a skinny and average height Unicorn, he was a pasty coat color, a black mane and tail, and he has silver eyes with a quill and paper as his cutie mark. He is very good at writing poetry and is a grammar Nazi. Keyboard, my other best friend is about the same height as Quills but a bit on the pudgy side. His coat is dark green, his hair was darker shade of green, light green eyes and a keyboard and a mouse for a cutie mark. He is good at computer games which is why we got along so well.
Keyes said, “I’m done for the day let's wait in the park for him."
"Alright, just let me put away all the crap I'm not bringing home with me", I stated.
"no problem" he replied simply.
After opening my locker after minutes of trying to remember the combination code it clicked. I shoved all of my books into the locker and locked it back up. As Keys and I were walking down the hall to the stairs, my hoofball buddy, Red stopped me for a question.
"Yo Chacho wanna play some hoofball I am heading over to the courts and thought I should ask you if you wanted to come."
"Alright I'll play a game or two." I replied.
At the courts Red and I started to warm up with a quick game to seven he won like usual but I gave him a run for his money losing by only 1 point. He has been playing hoofball longer than me so it’s only right that he is better than me.
"Hey... You ... Are... Getting pretty good Chach." he said as he was breathing heavily.
"thanks" I said exhausted.
'Quills and the rest of my friends should be getting out of class and should be headed to the park soon,' I thought to myself.'
The Wonderbolts are performing live tomorrow night, I'm so excited. I can't wait to see Dash again, I wonder if she remembers me? I hope she'll do her signature quad corkscrew nosedive into a sonic rainboom.' I fan-gasimed in my mind just thinking about, it got me pumped. After hanging out with all my friends today I couldn't wait till tomorrow. On my way back home I saw a familiar mare at the corner as I approached her she noticed me it was Velvet. She blushed a little when she smiled and waved as she waited there while I passed her and continued home.
"wow she's kinda cute" I said in hush tones to myself. I waved and smiled back and said "see you in class tomorrow."
The next day went along like any other day went thru my classes and then computer class rolled around this time Caleb was in class today. I let out an overly exaggerated 'yo' trying to sound as stupid as possible. Caleb was a cool guy, I might have only known him for a little less than a year it I could tell he was going to be a huge part of my life. We have had some deep conversations before and that is why we are really close friends. Caleb is a really tall earth pony he has a blue coat and orange mane and tail, he had a basketball for a cutie mark. He loved playing basketball, I played once in awhile but stormball was my favorite sport. Although playing it wasn't my special talent I enjoyed playing it.
After catching Caleb up with the work, Velvet sits right next to her friend to talk. Caleb caught me staring at her as she walked by and I'm sure he wanted to say something but instead he gave me a quick look and a slight smirk.
"What?" I asked.
"Oh, it's nothing." he replied.
"There was so much sarcasm in that reply that there was a puddle under your chair Caleb" I said as I slugged him in the shoulder.
"Any way, you gonna catch the Wonderbolts show tonight? I got an extra ticket."
Caleb shook his head, “Can’t," I looked shocked and was about to ask why but he started to tell me beforehand, "I'm headed to Appaloosa for the weekend"
"damn. Alright man make sure you don't hurt your back legs again. It’s still beyond me how you hurt yourself last year in the school." He gave a halfhearted chuckle
"me neither. But thanks for the offer man." The class bell rung
"whoo I'm gone. Later Caleb catch you at the courts in an hour" he nodded,
"alright Chacho catch you later."
"hey can I come to watch you guys play?" asked a cute voice behind me.
"Sure you can pl-" a lump caught in my throat. When I turned to see Velvet only a foot away. I fumbled my words a bit; "s-sure you could play too" she just smiled and walked past me and just said
"sounds like fun. See you then Chacho." I would be lying if I would have said I wasn't looking forward to seeing her then.
After a quick mental high I took off into the hallway to my locker and dumped my books in it and started to leave. I noticed Caleb and Velvet talking walking my way. They finally reached me and told me they were skipping class.
"well ok let's get out of here then," I said to them. We trotted the hoofball courts and hoped they were empty. Velvet and Caleb were talking while I just listened and kept myself busy by doing a few aerial tricks to warm up my mussels. After we got there we started to play a game. Velvet let out a shocked gasp, probably at how hard we actually hit the ball. Caleb beat me in a quick game to five points. I remembered that I had an extra ticket and no one to take so I asked Velvet. "Hey Velvet.
I have a question" she cocked her head to the side with an interested look on her face, "I have an extra tickets to see the Wonderbolts tonight and was wondering" a small blush crept across my face as I said the last part “if you wanted to go with me."
She said "sure I love the Wonderbolts, I haven’t gone to a show in such a long time. What time should we meet?"
"um... It starts around 8 so maybe 7:30?" she was nodding until she realized something.
"Oh my gosh! I need to get home I need to do my chores before my parents get home. I completely forgot sorry guys I have to get home now I'll see you at the Wonderbolts show Chacho, and have a safe weekend Caleb" after that she rushed off 'Damn it. I should have walk her home or at least offered to. I'm such an idiot.' With Velvet gone Caleb and I played another game to seven points this time I won.
“Woahhhhh! Look at you getting good." I just chuckled. Sunny day accompanied by my best friends Quills and Keyes had come to the courts and Said they wanted to play too. After a few games the sun started to set and a cool breeze picked up checking my watch it read 5:36pm
"alright guys I'm going home to shower and get ready to see the Wonderbolts tonight. Quills and Keyes both gave a good reason why they couldn't go earlier that day so they both asked who I would take since they couldn't go I just said "a new friend". Both looked to one another and just dismissed it then we all departed.
Flying home at a slow paste was not something new after playing hoofball, after a few hours anypony would be tired. My breathing regulated itself and I started to fly faster to get home. I landed in front of my mom's house. My parents were divorced and my mother has custody of me but I still get to see my dad when I want to. Pushing past the door to the house, I flew up the stairs and went to take my shower.
After drying off I checked the clock in my room while looking for my "Sonic Rainboom" shirt. I found my shirt which had Rainbow Dash doing a Sonic Rainboom on it and put my watch back on wrote a note to my mom saying that I will be home after the Wonderbolts show was over.
After securing my saddle bags I left the house to meet up with Velvet at the school because the Wonderbolts are performing at the stadium not too far from there 'alright Chach. She is cute but She's just a friend, nothing romantic, or sexual.' With my quick mental talk I soon ended up at the school, five minutes early.
"well I guess I could get a quick flying session" I said then proceeded to take off my Rainbow Dash shirt and tucked it into my saddle bags which had a rag for quickies like this.
I pushed my saddle bags to the side by a tree then took a low crouching stance ready to take off. Like a rocket I took off into the sky stopping only a few feet above the few clouds to check to see if Velvet was nearby before I started. No sign of Velvet just a bunch of ponies closing up their shops early today because of the show at eight. with that I let out a calming sigh and counted down 3...2...1...“GO.” I said under my breath.
Flapping my wings hard and fast I launched higher into the sky breaking through a cloud. I did a backflip and went into a nose dive once I noticed I could see ponies getting bigger I pulled up not too close to the ground I grabbed a cloud on its edge and let it rotate so I could launch myself in the opposite direction. "man I wonder if I could..." my thoughts interrupted when I punched through a cloud that came out of nowhere. I slowed myself to see where it could have come from but the weather patrol said there was to be partly cloudy. Paying it no mind any more I began to do corkscrews while making a giant vertical loop in the sky when I met the bottom of the loop I went straight down pulled my wings to make sure I could skid when I land and let my momentum take me. I noticed Velvet sitting by my saddle bags, before I could land I lost control and smacked into the floor.
'Smooth as motherbuckin silk Chach' I thought angrily to myself. Velvet helped me up after watching me take a pretty nasty spill, but it wasn't as bad as she thought just a few little cuts lining my jaw and a slightly bigger one on the left side of my face.
"Oh my gosh. Chacho are you alright? Do we need to go to the hospital? Should I ..."
I cut her off "I'm fine nothing really hurt" then under my breath I added” except my pride."
"well you should clean up those cuts before we go to the show first. Wouldn't want to get them infected." she said with loving care.
'damn why does she have to be so freakin cute' I thought to myself
"Fine I have a small first aid kit in my left saddle bag."
she looked at me like I had grew a second head then I clarified
"I have it for cases when someone I fly with or myself takes a spill like this" after saying this I hung my head knowing it was a lie. I kept it because Dash gave it to me before her Wonderbolt career.
Flashback
We were flying and she was teaching me how to stop myself right before hitting the ground like how she does and well you can guess how that worked out. I splattered on the floor Rainbow Dash had a worried look on her face when I hit but busted out in laughter when she heard me say "I-I'm f-fine"
"ok kid lemme help you up." her rose colored eyes looked beautiful. "Ouch that's a nasty cut on your face dude. Let me get the first aid kit." Dash said before flying off to get the First aid kit.
I trotted over to a pond to inspect the damage I had done. My face was covered in cuts and bruises along with the rest of my body but my face got the worst. I had a horizontal gash on my right cheek and a few big cuts along my neck down to my hooves. Rainbow Dash got back from retrieving the first aid kit from her saddle bags and she started to open it.
"Sorry Rainbow Dash" I muttered
"its ok Chacho not everypony can be as good as me, and even I took a few hard crash landings on my road to becoming a Wonderbolt. Oh and just call me Dash we have been friends for a while. Now sit still and let me clean these cuts so we can get back to flying." a few minutes after my cuts were cleaned and my gash bandaged Dash closed the first aid kit and nuzzled it toward me
"here, take it you look like you are going to need it..." before I could say any words in protest she continued "you remind me of myself sometimes and if you want to get half as good as me you got a lot of hard landings waiting to happen."
"Thanks Rai-" I cut myself off "Dash, thank you." she blushed a little.
"I’ll keep it with me every time I train" I said with a confident smile. She laughed as expected but not at me or my dream but out of happiness.
"alright kid I probably won't see you for a while so don't slack off, I wanna race when I come back."
"you got it" I said; she chuckled and gave me a quick peck on the cheek"
“I'm going to hold you to that one chump." she said after taking to the air and leaving me there to do what I please while she went to finish up her weather patrol duties, and then go on to become an official member of the Wonderbolts.
End flashback
As Velvet finished cleaning my cuts I looked at my watch and it read 7:45.
"we should start heading over to the stadium the show starts in 15 minutes." velvet just nodded and smiled.
'Damn it why does she have to be cute'. I thought again for the umpteenth time.
We walked in silence until Velvet spoke up.
"So I take it that you like Rainbow Dash the best out of the Wonderbolts?" she said pointing at my shirt "I personally like Sorin' he's so cute -"
'typical mare' I thought for a second
"especially when he messes up and makes it noticeable" then she said something under her breath that sounded like ‘but not as cute as you' but that could have been my imagination so I just brushed it off.
"Yeah Dash has been my role model before she was a Wonderbolt and now that she is on the team I look up to her even more. I know it’s a long shot but I want to be a Wonderbolt just like Dash." Velvet just chuckled with a faint blush and then blurted out,
"I like a man in uniform"
"explains why you like Sorin so much then" I said then sticking out my tongue to tease her a bit. We laughed a bit more and soon were in front of the fair sized stadium. Ponyville was not huge but large amounts of ponies came to the town for several events and a Wonderbolts show was no exception, and with this show being the last of the season being sold out almost immediately made it an even bigger attraction.
We gave our tickets to the mare behind the counter whom said with a wink
"have a fun time you lovebirds". This making both of us blush
"Thanks but we are just friends" I said
"that's how these things start my little gentlecolt. First you take her out to a show as friends then by the end of the night you two can’t keep your hooves off each other" answered the mare
"uhh ok" I said as I started to trot away hoping to not be further embarrassed. It was bad enough that I crashed into the ground now I had some random mare trying to play matchmaker. We went to our seats which were located in the front row of a middle sectioned set of seats.
“Alright everypony are you ready for a show!” the announcer pony said over the microphone.
A loud thunderous crowd answered with a booming 'Yeah!'
I can’t hear you. I said are you ponies ready for a show?!
And surprisingly louder 'YEAH' was elicited from the crowd
“Alright then everypony. Here are the elite and most prestigious fliers in all of Equestria the~” stretching out the ‘e’ as much as possible “Wonderbolts.”
All the ponies in the stadium clapped their hoofs or stomped them to make as much noise as possible. As this continued a storm cloud with lightning trailed Fleet foot and Surprise, as they flew together and completely in sync the shot in opposite directions forming an upside down “V” at first then it became a “W”. The crowd went wild at such a display although that’s how they open every show since Dash suggested it. The show ponies disappeared; Then the announcer started to introduce the Wonderbolts one by one.
“Let’s get this show on the road my little ponies. First we have the leader of these fearless fliers. Ladies and gentle colts let’s give it up for miss Spitfire.”
The crowd cheered loud as Spitfire came into view. Heavy metal instrumental music started playing as she made her entrance. Doing a ‘raincloud double backflip’ into a nosedive flapping her wings as she came closer to the stadium floor so that her tail would leave a fiery trail behind as she skidded across the stadium floor to await her fellow daredevil fliers.
“Next we have her co-captain, a real ladies man it’s Sorin”
A huge majority of the mares and a few stallions cheered extra loud when Sorin made his entry with a few big loops in the air and then ending with a triple front flip landing beside Spitfire.
“Next we have a bit of a ‘surprise’ because here she comes its Surprise”
The audience chuckled at the bad pun made to introduce Surprise but kept up their applauds. Music that was usually at one of Pinkie Pie’s parties started to play as the pegasus flew into everyponies view she just made a few zigzags in the air going to land next to Sorin.
“Following Surprise is nopony other than the infamous Fleet Foot.”
The crowd cheered and whistled as Fleet Foot came into view. Some Dubtrot stated to play. Fleet Foot didn’t like to outshine any of his comrades and just kept it simple. He just flew close enough to the people in the front row to hoof bump them as he flew around the oval stadium once. He took his place next to surprise.
“Does anypony feel that wind? Well you should because here comes Silver Wind”
As Silver Wind came into view a violin symphony started to play. The ponies cheered loudly as Silver Wind flew fast enough along the ground to make it seem like the wind behind her was actually silver after her second time around the stadium she stopped next to Fleet Foot. And now I knew that the best part of the intro was going to happen it was Dash’s turn to be introduced.
“And the last of the fearless flyers are you ponies seeing a pot of gold because here comes Rainbow Dash”
The crowd went ballistic. An electronic beat started to play, but it wasn’t the song Dash usually used when she made and entrance. I knew this song but I doubt many ponies know about it because it was an underground song made anonymously entitled “Luna’s Mission” I loved that song; did Dash really remember that? Did she do this for me? While the list of questions on why Dash chose that song she came into sight. Dash entered everyponies view making her cutie mark with a trail of smoke then she launched herself towards her fellow flyers doing four corkscrews and ending with a mid-air somersault landing right next to Silver Wind.
“Alright everypony let’s get this show on the road” The announcer said.
Everypony went wild. The Wonderbolts all started to take off one by one and once Dash left the ground a series of cloud rings, cloud pillars, storm clouds, and regular clouds were moved over the stadiums ‘Clear zone’ by ponies that I recognized as the weather patrol here in Ponyville; Thunder Lane, Flitter, Cloud Kicker, Snow Flake, and Rain Drops. Guess they couldn't handle the Wonderbolt academy well except Flitter, because she was the one who told me that they all went to the tryouts and that the weather patrol needed other pegasi to fill in for them, but I couldn't because I was too young. But their academy days were over after a year and that was the last I saw of Dash in person until today.
Sorin, Silver Wind, and Surprise veered off to the left one by one and pin-balled off the zigzag patterned storm clouds each time the kicked off the cloud a lightning bolt shout out. After the sixth cloud they shot back up going in reverse this time Surprise Leading while Sorin obliterated each of the storm clouds. The ponies went wild I just sat in awe and admiration in my eyes.
‘I’ll have to try that one day.’ I thought rubbing my hoof under my chin.
Turning my attention back to Dash and Spitfire who were weaving through the Cloud pillars coming towards each other once they both came practically nose to nose they both shot upwards leaving a thick cloud of smoke as they flew higher and higher into the evening sky. Fleet Foot Came out of nowhere and stopped along with Spitfire while dash kept flying. Fleet Foot and Spit fire then joined up with Sorin, Silver Wind, and Surprise. They spun around in a small circle and with a small lightning bolt each shot in a scattered fountain like formation while Dash came down doing corkscrews at alarming speeds.
“She’s gonna do it!” I shouted in excitement again and again. Velvet nudged me with her hoof.
“What? What’s she going to do?” She asked.
“You’ll see,” I started trying not to fan-gasim “It’s going to be awesome.”
While still spinning Dash came closer and closer to the center of the area where the other Wonderbolts just dispersed from. And *BOOM* She sonic rainboomed dispersing all Clouds from the sky and folded her wings and started to barrel roll. While still spinning and plummeting closer and closer to the ground the crowd sat awe stricken staring at Rainbow Dash and no other member of the team. Rainbow unfurled her wings and shot up forming a ‘V’ then turned it into a heart. With everyponies eyes glued to Rainbow Dash, nopony noticed the other Wonderbolts skywriting until Sorin and Spitfire formed an arrow which pierced the ‘rainbow trailed’ heart, it was a message signaling the end of the show it read ‘Ponyville We ♥ You.’
I turned to Velvet whom had misty eyes and her jaw threatened to hit the ground. I burst into laughter
“The look on your face right now is priceless” Velvet’s ‘glazed over’ eyes shut as she shook her head eyes and she stared at me. We started to depart and she said
“I’m glad you didn't tell me what she was doing because that was simply amazing” she said still dazzled by the performance “thanks for bringing me to the show Chacho. I had a really fun time with you tonight.” she added slightly flustered probably from being embarrassed to show affection but it could have also been from the adrenaline I wasn't too sure.
“No problem Velvet I’m glad you had such a good time and Thank you for accompanying me on such a night” I gave her a genuine ‘charming’ smile. I saw that her eyes were still misty, part of me wanted to wipe away her tears but then she might take it as a sign that I only brought her to the show to try my luck with her so I did the next best thing I could think of.
“Hey are you crying?” I asked concerned. She shook her head while wiping her misty eyes
“No. My eyes just got watery from not blinking while watching that sonic rainboom.” I had an unconvinced look on my face “Honestly I have never seen anything more beautiful than that. So yes it made me cry a bit but they are tears of joy. Nothing to be concerned about.”
“OK if you say so” I deadpanned.
We finally made it outside the stadium and she stopped and turned to look at me
“OK Chacho I’ll see you in school on Monday.” She said as she started to trot off.
“Do you want me to walk you home? I mean it’s pretty late and I’d feel bad if anything happened to you.” I said in protest to her going home alone.
“Oh my dad is going to take me home silly. He was one of the volunteer guards here tonight he was the Black stallion with silvery hair that was standing off to the side when we gave our tickets in” she said
“Whaa!? You mean your dad saw me with you when we walked in and didn't smash my face in?” I asked in exasperated shock.
“Yup. I don’t think he would have done anything rash because he had to have heard the conversation with the ticket lady. Although I might be interrogated when I get home because I was ‘out with a boy’, but I don’t have to be afraid of much because we didn’t ‘do’ anything besides come and enjoy ourselves together.”
Apologetically I said “I’m sorry I didn't know that would happen. If I would have known I wouldn't have asked you to come so you wouldn't be in trouble.” My ears laid flattened against my head
“Its fine Chacho you are the first boy he has ‘caught’ me with.” Her face reddened at the sudden realization of what could have been misinterpreted “Out with I meant first boy out with!” Her ears drooped and she hung her head “I bet you think I am a weirdo and don’t want to be friends with me anymore.” Her voice cracked and choked, her eyes shut but tears could be seen building up threatened to turn into all out bawling, my ears perked up.
‘I am so bucked’
“No of course not. I think you are-” I choked up on my words as to not say anything that would make her dad want to bash my face in, because he was only a few feet inside and he looked like he could make it to Manehattan just to beat my ass and get back home ready for supper if I hurt her in any way, shape, or form.
“I think you are a wonderful friend. You are smart funny and caring. I may have not known you for long but I can tell you are, because I see the way you carry yourself and you haven’t done anything to me to make me think of you any less.” ‘Nailed it!’ I thought as I concluded my statement.
“Thank you Chacho you are too kind”
“I try to be well I’ll see you on Monday then Velvet.”
“OK then” she said as she wiped the tears from her eyes. I unfurled my wings and got ready to take to the skies.
“Wait.” Velvet shouted while reaching her hoof out. I stopped and folded my wing against my sides.
“What happened Velvet?”
“Can I give you an awkward hug?” she asked almost hesitantly.
‘Well it wasn’t a good night kiss but I didn’t expect anything to come from this date anyway.’ I thought to myself.
“Only if it won’t get me killed by your dad” I said jokingly. We both got up on our hind legs and hugged each other. We held the embrace for what felt like an eternity.
Time itself stopped for me. I have hugged mares before but none that could possibly have feelings for me as strong as mine for them. We broke from the embrace and we stood there in silence for a moment then I said,
“OK Velvet have a good weekend see you in school on Monday”
“OK Chacho get home safe” she said waving as she walked toward the doors of the stadium. I waved back and unfurled my wings again to take off. I took to the sky after a strong flap of my wings and started to head home. I bumped into Rainbow Dash right above the stadium and we started to talk.
“Hey chump.” Dash said patting the spot next to her “come here, so we can catch up” I floated over to her and sat beside her
“Wow Dash you still look amazing.”
“Well duh! I’m only Equestria’s fastest and most awesome pegasus.” She chuckled “So did you enjoy the show tonight?”
“Hey yeah, but I have one question why did you change your entrance song? It said on the roster that you be flying in to-” she silenced me with her left hoof.
“Well honestly I wanted to do something special tonight for you since we haven’t seen each other in a while and” she stopped trying to not cry “And well I remembered back when I dropped out of high school-” this time I stopped her with a hoof.
“Dash that was almost two years ago it wasn't your fault I’m…”
“But it was my fault! I played with your heart! And toyed with your emotions! Then to top it all off went out with Thunder Lane instead of you!” At this point she had tears streaming down her face, her ears were pressed against her head and she hung her head while she let out a few audible sobs.
“Rainbow Dash!” I said with a stern enough voice on the brink of yelling.
“It. Was. Not. Your. Fault. It was mine. I should have asked you out. I shouldn't have let you become my obsession. It was all my fault not yours.” Putting emphasis on how much this was my fault and not hers. “You just found a guy who had the courage to ask you out.” I had a lump in my throat when I said the last part. Dash’s crying slowly came to a halt. I wiped her tears away from her face with my right wing, and pushed her face up with my front hooves so she had no choice but to look me in the eye. She soon opened her eyes, all puffy and red from crying.
“Wow. Your eyes are still as beautiful as the first time I saw them Dash.” I said soothingly, which earned me a slug in the arm by RD.
“Shut up!” she said jokingly, stopping her sobbing she added “You always know how to make a girl feel special don’t you Chach?”
“Eyup” I said trying to impersonate Big Macintosh
Dash buried her face into my chest “Thank you Chacho. I don’t deserve you.” I felt dampness on my coat.
‘She’s crying again’ I thought to myself. I used my hooves to raise her face to meet mine so I could look into those beautiful eyes.
“Dash, you’re beautiful and deserve to be happy.” As soon as I ended that statement I dove my head into hers our lips connected and we kissed. I saw her eyes open in shock then I closed my eyes. This being only the second time I ever kissed anypony mouth to mouth. Dash let out a moan of pleasure. Her tongue tried to gain access to my mouth and I let the intruder in welcomingly. Both of our tongues danced around each other’s mouths. The kiss lasted for only a few minutes but felt like hours we separated from the kiss and a trail of saliva that connected our lips drooped and snapped. I wiped my lips and pressed my ears against my head, and I felt the heat of a heavy blush coming.
“D-Dash I’m sorry. I-I-I just don’t know what came over me”
Dash just smirked then said “You really do know how to make a girl feel special. That was our first kiss you know. So are we official?”
“HUH? Y-You’re not mad?” I asked still flustered.
“Nope not at all. You still never answered my question are we official now?”
“I would like that very much Dash.” I said giving her bedroom eyes. Until I checked my watch because it beeped.
“Buck” I muttered as I put my saddle bags on “Sorry Dash but I gotta get home before my mother sends a letter to the princess saying that I’m missing and tries to get the entire royal guard looking for me.”
“OK chump but Monday I want that race you promised me”
I gave her a quick peck on the lips and took to the sky and headed to my mother’s house.
Landing in front of my mom’s door I pushed it open greeted my mother and headed to the bathroom to take a nice long shower to process the events of today. After emerging from my shower my mother decides to interrogate me for whom I took to the show because I usually wrote the friends name down when I would be staying out late.
“So who did you take to the show Chacho?” my mother asked.
“I took a friend I just made” I deadpanned not really in the mood for a debate
“So it’s a girl because if it wasn't you wouldn't hesitate to tell me a name.” she said arching her eyebrow and let loose a barrage of questions “Who is she? Is she cute? Is she in your classes? Does she cook?” the list kept going until she came to the final one “Is she a virgin?”
“Mom!” I said “I wouldn't know that because I'm still a virgin.” With that statement I just flew past her and went to my room. I laid on my bed and almost instantly fell sound asleep.
‘Can’t believe I’m thinking this, but I can’t wait till Monday’ was my final thought before I drifted into sweet slumber.
I roll out of my bed like I do every Monday: tired and regretting going to bed which only achieved five hours of sleep. I showered, put my saddle bags on and took to the sky. Mondays were usually the longest and most uneventful days, but this Monday is going to be different. Not only am I going to hang out with a mare who might have a crush on me but I also get to fly with my new marefriend Rainbow Dash. This day was going to be tiresome and could be bad because I know that Dash was the jealous type.
Going into Ponyville High this morning just felt different. There was a sense of unease in the air today. ‘Pssh nah it’s probably my imagination’ I thought to myself as I flew up to the third floor where my locker was I unlocked my locker and placed my math book into my saddle bag and closed up my locker. First period for me was PE so no books were needed but my math class was right after and that was on the third floor. It’s a far distance if I don’t want to risk getting detention for flying.
As I entered the gym locker room I slipped on my gym shorts and a white shirt
“Why the hell do we have to wear these anyways it’s not like we normally wear clothes anyway” I asked no one in particular. Nopony answered. I put my saddle bags into a small locker without a lock because all I had was my uniform shirt just in case I was about to get in trouble for not wearing it… again. Not like I was a ‘bad boy’ but I wasn't a ‘goodie four shoes’ either.
Today was the last day of the ‘fitness test’ which is horse feathers because we took the same stupid test every year in high school and nothing changes. It was the dreaded pacer test the lazy ponies dragged their hooves, the unfit and popular ones trotted, and the few athletic ones actually ran I dropped out around 70 and was beaten by an earth pony whose name always slipped my mind he only did three more rounds than me. I guess it was fair enough he was a relative of the apple family apparently so his legs were naturally stronger than mine, but if we could have used our wings, boy oh boy I would have been there for hours I train my wings more than my legs but after today I’ll be training both of them harder than I was before.
The day seemed to fly by and I noticed that Velvet is in three of my classes including computer class but she sits with her small group of friends. But in computer class she sat right next to me while Caleb sat next to her. I wanted to go to class a little late so I stood in the office talking to some of my friends and then left.
“Late again Chacho? What’s the excuse now forgot where the class was? Or was there ‘traffic’ on the main staircase?” my teacher said slightly annoyed
“Here” I said handing him a note from the office that stated that I was helping the janitors load up some things in a cloud truck. Being a pegasus made it more believable since one of the two janitors was a unicorn while the other was an earth pony.
“OK fine you are excused get to your seat and … do whatever it is you do when you don’t have work” my teacher said with defeat in his tone.
“No prob teach”
I hovered over to my seat and smelled something delicious. I looked out the window, passing my seat, to see if Pinkie Pie was baking but soon realized that they don’t start baking until one. I turned around and laid my eyes upon the three red velvet cupcakes in a container next to Velvet.
“Hey Caleb” I said to him and we did our secret hoof shake.
“Sup” he replied
“Hi Velvet” She extended her front hooves as if telling me to hug her. So I did I hugged her.
“Hi Chacho”
“So how was the weekend at Appaloosa Caleb?”
“It was way more fun than last time. They had a switchers dance when the work was done.” I gave that ‘I don’t follow’ look for a second. “It’s kinda like.” He stopped to think of an analogy. “It’s kinda like speed dating except with dancing. With one pony for a set amount of time and switch you’re with a totally new pony. Thank Celestia and Luna I didn’t get paired up with any stallions.” I chuckled at the thought of him being forced to dance with another guy.
“So you wouldn't have had fun if you danced with me?” I said toying with the situation the only way a good friend could. With a bit of bromance.
He just shook his head and face hoofed.
“So what about you Velvet?” I asked.
“Oh I made red velvet cupcakes over the weekend with Pinkie Pie.” She said pointing to the container “Do you want one?”
Both me and Caleb said “Sure” almost in unison. Then I noticed the look of disappointment on her face.
“What’s wrong?”
“Well, all three of us want one but one is for my other friend…”
I cut her off “So you enjoy it then” I said with a smile on my face “I’ll try them next time”
“Why don’t you share one with Chach then?” Caleb suggested after taking a bite out of his cupcake. ‘You sneaky bastard’ I mouthed to him.
Velvet turned to face me “Are you OK with that Chacho?”
Shrugging I simply said “I don’t mind what about you?”
She only blushed
I heard a knock on the glass behind me “Chach” said the voice outside. I turned around and it was Dash sitting on a cloud beckoning me to come over.
“I’ll be back real quick”
I trotted over to the window and opened it.
“Hey Dash what’s up”
“Oh nothing just checking to see if we were still on for that race you promised me.”
“Most definitely Dash. Maybe around five?”
“You got it lover boy” She said before giving me a peck on the cheek.
“What gives Dashy I thought we were official” I said jokingly as I gave her a quick kiss on the lips “Just joking, love you Dash catch you later”
She blushed a bit and took off.
Meanwhile while Chacho and Rainbow were talking:
“He had a crush on Rainbow Dash for about two years. He was determined to be her coltfriend. But then she broke his heart.” Caleb said with the sound or remorse in his voice.
Velvet asked “What? Why? why did she do such a thing? Breaking his heart would be the last thing I would do. I’d break my own heart just so his feelings would be spared.”
“Yeah I know you would, but Dash she was always into confident flyers. A few rumors went around when she was still in the school, about a year and a half ago, that she was a lesbian, but that didn't stop Chach he wanted to prove that she wasn’t into mares and to try and find his ‘happiness’.”
Velvet just sat there.
“Well here he comes just pretend we never spoke about this, smile and chuckle in three two one.”
“Sorry about that you two just Dash being Dash”
“It’s OK Chacho. So do you still want to share that cupcake?” asked Velvet.
“Hey yeah I do it smells delicious.”
I took a bite from it when she held towards it me. I forgot she was handing it to me so I could break it in half.
“OH MY GOODNESS THIS IS AMAZING” I said oblivious to what i had done.
Velvet blushed and looked shocked and then realized what I had done
“ohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh I'm so sorry I forgot that we were going to share that. If it makes you feel better I don’t have any mouth sores or any infections period.” I blurted out.
‘I bucked up real bad this time’ I thought to myself.
“I-I-Its OK I guess. You did say that you were sorry and I'm sure you didn't mean to do it on purpose” She blushed a little and then took a bite right next to mine “there now we are even” she then broke the cupcake into two pieces keeping the smaller one giving me the bigger piece.
“Not quite” I said taking a small portion from my piece in hoof and held it toward her “you gotta eat it just like I ate from your hoofs you have to eat from mine” I said jokingly.
She either didn't know I was joking or she really wanted to show me that she was willing to do anything to make me happy and she ate it. The bell rang and I was ready to shoot out into the hallway until Velvet tugged my leg.
I landed “what’s wrong Velvet?” she wiped frosting off my face with her hoof and chuckled.
“Non’t want to look like a doofus with frosting on your cheek do you?” she said and then licked off the frosting.
‘Why the hell do you have to be so damn cute?’
“Thanks” I said scratching the back of my head blushing a bit. “Hey, Caleb, Red and me we are going to play hoofball today you wanna come?”
“Sure but I think I’ll watch. You guys hit the ball really hard and I don’t want to make you feel bad if I hurt myself playing against you.”
“One day I want to play just me and you so you can enjoy the game just as much as I do.”
“Don’t make a girl a promise you know you can’t keep.”
After leaving the school I went to the courts by myself today and warmed up a bit. Then checked my watch. ‘five more minutes till my friends get out’ I thought to myself. The park was completely empty to I figured I could try and get a quickie in.
I launched into the sky flapping my wings hard and fast I launched higher and higher into the sky. Instead of breaking through the cloud in front of me I tried to not imitate what I had done last time, when I smacked into the floor.
I did a backflip off the cloud and went into a nose dive seeing my shadow getting bigger I pulled up from the ground closer than ever before, I could have sworn my face was only inches from the ground off the ground. Heading back toward another cloud I grabbed on its edge and let it rotate me so I could launch myself in the opposite direction. I began to do corkscrews then tucked my wings in to start barrel rolling while plummeting down. I opened my wings to stabilize myself as I came in to make sure I could skid when I land and let my momentum take me. This time I actually did what I meant to unlike last time when I slammed into the ground.
“AWE YEAH” I shouted aloud in the empty park, or so I thought. Red, Caleb and Velvet were sitting off in the corner where I put my saddle bags and were clopping their hooves when my routine came to a finish.
*Whistle* “dang Chach, you getting real good at flying now man.” Red said “ I thought you were going to smack right into the court floor when you came down that first time, but then you pulled up so fast that ... I don't even know what to say.”
“Thanks Red just trying to keep myself prepared for when the Wonderbolts ask me to join the academy.”
“Nice moves Chach. How many time did you smack into the floor until you got that trick down?” Caleb added trying to make my confidence falter. It didn’t work.
“I’ll have you know I only slammed twice trying to perfect that trick, but I’ll tell you one thing. I never came that close to the ground doing it before. I thought I was a goner when I pulled up I actually closed my eyes and braced for impact.” I let out a small chuckle which elected some small snickers from Red and Caleb.
Red said “Alright me and Caleb are going to play two quick games so you can rest up a bit.”
“Alright no problem” I replied.
So I trotted over to Velvet and opened my saddle bag to get a water bottle out before guzzling it I offered Velvet some but she kindly denied it. So I drank greedily finishing the entire bottle in a matter of seconds. After that I let out a thirst quenched sigh.
“So how about that game I promised you. Want to play just me and you?”
Velvet just blushed a bit then finally spoke up “Sure, but I don’t know how to play. I have only watched you play once”
“Don’t worry I’ll show you how and then we can play a game without any real rules.”
I started to teach her how to play. There weren't many things to teach really just hit the ball with your hoof and make sure it hits the wall between the lines close to the edges, but then i started to tell her about the official rules which included: blocks which is when a player ‘blocks’ another player from hitting the ball, ‘Wall’ which is when a player is hit by the ball before it either hits the wall or before it can reach the other player, Long and short were terms used only on serves there was a line that marked both, and finally ‘isol’ only used in a games of triangles or ‘doubles’ its when the server is at the last point and basically calls for a singles match with both opposing players for only one point. she seemed confused at the rules but she caught on quickly to the actual game.
“Yay. I did it Chacho, I did it!” Velvet exclaimed in joy.
I cannot lie I had the most goofy grin on my face when she said those words. I felt like I was building such a great friendship, no I was building a genuine friendship. I started thinking.
‘I feel at ease around her like I could be myself and she wouldn't care. She seems to like hanging out with me and soon she’ll be comfortable enough with me to talk to me in class like good friends. Today we even shared a cupcake. That reminds me I should probably repay her for that. Maybe I’ll take her to Sugar Cube Corner for a milkshake or something.’ My thought process was cut short by a ball which had hit me square in the nose.
“Nice catch Chach. You good?” asked Red
“Yeah I’m fine. Lets get a triangles game in I gotta go in an hour.”
“Alright you get first serve seeing as how you and the ball can't seem to keep away from each other.” he said jokingly
“Lets get it then. Game eleven or twenty-one?”
“Twenty-one just so we make it interesting, and lets play with official rules: blocks, wall, short, long, and ‘isol’. By the way I’m not gonna hold back Chach so i think you should pull out all stops as well.”
I served the ball headed towards Red. He hit it hard and hit the wall. The ball started to come back on my far left, as I hit the ball as low as possible on the wall it rolled back towards me.
“Woohoo chach killin balls this early in the game? I guess you are pullin out all the stops.” Caleb said
“Not all the stops I still refuse to fly because that’s unfair, but I will be trying my flank off.” I replied as I got back to serving position. This time serving to Caleb, he hit the ball towards me and I ducked so I wouldn't be a ‘wall’. recovering as quickly as possible I back-hoofed the ball but sadly Red was able to reach the ball before it bounced a second time which would have earned me another point. I missed the ball.
“Pony feathers” I stated angrily
Now it was Caleb’s turn to serve. Hitting the ball towards me I reacted and successfully hit the ball back at the wall. He then hit it towards Red. Red hit the ball on the wall far enough that Caleb couldn’t reach it in time.
“Darn.” Caleb said.
“Nice one Red.” I replied
“It’s not over yet.” replied Red
Now it was Red’s turn. He served it hard, fast and low.
“I got this Caleb.” I shouted moving towards the ball
I hit the ball and killed it.
“Lets gooo.” I replied pumped.
“Good shit Chach.” Red stated.
“Alright Chacho gotten a lot better so now I won’t go easy anymore” Replied Caleb.

The game continued with increasing intensity. Soon the game was almost at a three-way tie. Caleb and Red both had twenty points while I was sitting on eighteen points and it was my serve. I served the ball as best as I could -- serving low and fast -- and aced Red.
“Woah nice one chach you really got better.” Red said in between breaths of air.
We were all tired but too competitive to just let the other win. I hadn't realized until that serve that Velvet was there the whole time cheering me on. I pointed to her and then said, “This one is for you.” I then got ready and served the same way but to Caleb.
“Woah baby! Two aces back-to-back damn Chach you gotta learn to serve like that all the time.” Caleb complemented. Red added a simple “Word.”
“Isol!” I chuckled a bit being cocky as all hell “Thought I should give a little more interesting end to this game. Red you’re first.”
Sounding all confident but i was really nervous because Red was the one who taught me how to play hoofball in the first place. Serving as I did before thinking that I would be rewarded with three aces in a row, that thought was crushed when red hit it, but the ball hit off the wall and I just killed it. Red’s jaw almost hit the floor.
“Wha! You beat me! Celestia Damn, Chach you really have outdone yourself.”
I just chuckled a bit and replied “Learned from the best.” and hoof-bumped him.
“Caleb you next bro.” Red said.
I served a bit higher and Caleb hit it. I hit the ball to the far left to try and end it right there but he hit it and recovered from almost falling. Back-hoofing the ball to the far right I was able to win the game.
“Good game ... Buck that great game guys!” I shouted.
I looked at my watch and the game was a bit longer than an hour, it was 5:06pm.
“Buck!” I said in hush-tones then said “ OK guys I’ll catch you later gotta go somewhere and I’m late, but it was worth it.”
“Later Chach” Said red and Caleb almost simultaneously.
I trotted up to Velvet and hugged her as she said her goodbyes to me. I put my saddle bags on and took to the sky. While in the sky I began to think if i was really ready for a race. I then started to fly Searching for Dash.
‘Dash is probably napping like how she used to before she became a Wonderbolt.’ I thought to myself, ‘Hmm, now where was that cloud that she used to take naps on?’ asking myself questions once again, ‘Ah ha! There it is floating right over Sweet Apple Acres just like old times.’
Taking my time to restore as much energy as I could, I slowly reached the cloud where the Rainbow maned pegasus slept peacefully. Nudging her with my muzzle to try to wake her only made her grumble and turn over to face me.
“Dash. Wake up.” I whispered
She must have heard me because she opened her eyes a bit then responded sleepily, “Come nap with me for a little bit babe.”
My face turned a light shade of crimson after she said that and i was about to something but she continued, “Oh and could you hold me while we sleep? I always wanted to fall asleep on my special somepony.”
Then my face turned an even darker shade of crimson from the intense blush. I have never slept or napped with a girl before and here Dash was asking me to hold her while we slept together. So I did as I was told, I held Dash wrapped in my hooves. And soon after i started to drift off into sleep as well.
[...]
Soon I awoke but not on the cloud with Dash but on the floor a few feet from the stadium the wonderbolts had just finished performing in ‘Am I dreaming?’ It was dark outside and I was still wondering what I was doing on the floor. I rose to my hooves rubbing the back of my head. “Damn it felt like I was hit by a train.”
“Well you did take a nasty spill there Chacho.”
Turning around to see who made that statement was none other than Velvet.
“You look like you’ve seen a ghost Chacho. Its just me.” She said then chuckled.
“But... How... What happened to me? ... Wait I took a nasty spill? When did I fall?” I asked completely confused.
“Um, you’d better take a look over in that pond then.” She replied.
While raising a hoof to her mouth as if trying not to hurl, and pointing to the pond only a few feet away from where I was standing, Velvet had the look of horror on her face. As I looked into the pond I saw my reflection. It looked normal for a second, then I noticed the reflection had huge cuts all around then I heard a bone crunching sound and looked below me to realize my back right hoof bone was sticking out. Trying to escape the horrible image I took to the air. Soon after a few hard flaps my wings gave up on me and I was plummeting down to the ground. Closing my eyes as I fell made it worse and as soon as I opened them I awoke from my nightmare and sat up all sweaty and breathing heavily.
“It was just a dream” I spoke to my self in between breaths. I looked over to my right and saw Dash just staring at me while she was laying down.
“What’s wrong Chacho? Bad dream?” She asked with a sense of concern in her voice.
“Yeah. I thought I was going to die.” I shuttered at the thought.
“Oh.” she looked away for a second before asking, “So are we still gonna race?”
“You bet your sweet flank we are!”
“Cool because I’m ready to leave you in the dust.”
“Heh heh. confident as always Dash we’ll see about that when I whoop your sorry hide.”
“Enough talk. First one to the Everfree Forest and back is the winner.”
“How far in? Or should we turn around at Fluttershy’s cottage?”
Tapping her hoof on her chin Dash began, “Hmm, to her cottage and back seems to be far enough it is across town. Ok so to her cottage and back like i said first one back wins.”
After we both took off Dash and I were neck and neck for a while.
“Heh. You’ve really gotten better since we last raced Chacho, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t improved either.” Dash said.
“Thanks Dash, but I wouldn’t expect any less from the greatest member on the Wonderbolts.” I replied. Dash blushed a bit before she decided to take it up a notch in the race and started to fly faster than me. About half way across town she started taking the lead from me. Pulling away slowly but surely until she decided to go all out. She soon became a blur in my vision for a second then she turned around and started to fly back towards Sweet Apple Acres. She blew past me and wobbled me a bit.
Well I know that I lost but ... Aww hell I’ll try and kick it up on the stretch back. I told myself as I rounded Fluttershy’s cottage.
G-Gotta fly faster! I kept screaming this to myself louder and louder in my head. Come on wings, Come on! Go faster!
I started to catch up with Rainbow Dash but it was too late she was about to hit the cloud that we just took our first nap together on, when she flew down onto the ground below and skidded kicking up dust and since I already lost I followed suit.
“Whoo! Wadda rush!” Rainbow exclaimed as she folded and unfolded her wings a few times.
“Told ya I improved.” She said as she playfully hit me.
All I did was look at the ground wearing a frown. Rainbow Dash’s huge egotistical grin turned to a look of worry that something was wrong, “I-Is everything OK Chacho?”she asked worried, but soon her worried look turned into a sly grin after Rainbow noticed I had cracked a smile with my head down.
“Hey.” this time she slugged me pretty hard in the side, “that’s not funny Chacho. I really thought something was wrong. Jerk.”
“Ouch! Hey that kinda hurt Dashie.” I said rubbing the area she had just hit. “And I was only putting my head down because I was getting ready for all your gloating.” I raised my head and sat on my haunches and added slyly, “Although, you could prove me wrong and not gloat at all.”
Rainbow Dash sat where she was and rubbed the back of her neck and started, “UH, yeah about that. See I would gloat but seeing as you’re ... well you and I’m an Equestrian renown Wonderbolt so...”
“Ouch! That hurts even more Dash, saying I’m not good enough to gloat about.” I cut her off jokingly.
Rainbow just sat there at a loss for words until I gave her a peck on the cheek.
“Its OK Dash. You have matured a lot since we last spoke to each other, raced each other, or even laughed together. Its felt like decades since I've felt this way.” I looked up at the moon as I sat next to her and put my wing around her. “We have had some good times and even some bad. I know you probably would have kicked my sorry flank if we ever did get into a fight.” I chuckled. “But never once did I think that I’d get to be out here with you as your coltfriend. Since that day you went to prom with Thunder Lane.” My vision was beginning to blur. “I thought that I’d lost you forever that day. I thought about what I did wrong, and why you didn’t like me, thought about why didn’t you ask me to be your date to prom.” As the firsts set of tears started to roll down from my eyes I tried stifling a sob and tried to regain composure. “But then the next day you didn’t come back to school. I was going to ask you out but I never saw you for the rest of that year. I only found out that you’d been accepted into the Wonderbolt academy through Flitter. Then one day I saw posters for wonderbolt shows in Canterlot, Manehatten, and other places with your name on the poster at the end of the list of Wonderbolts.” Before I knew it I was on her lap with my face in my hooves and just bawling my eyes out. “Dash that day I remembered how much I loved you and it hurt so much that you never even said goodbye! You just left, without a word, and I was lost and heartbroken!”
Rainbow put her hoof on my back and stroked my mane to calm me down.
“Shhhh. Chach its OK. I was stupid back then. I knew that you had feelings for me, hell any mare I knew would have killed to have a stallion like your self. Treating me the way you did. Always making sure I was OK, walking me home, trying to keep me out of trouble and the Hearts and Hooves day gift you got me.”
She pulled out the heart shaped locket out of nowhere and pressed the little button with her left hoof and showed me the double sided picture locket which had a picture of me and dash on one side with a note on the other. The note had some writing on it. ‘Dash I love you. Will you be my very special somepony?’ I wiped my tears away and looked at Rainbow Dash as I sat up looking at her reminisce at the tiny trinket she held in her hooves.
“I always regretted not taking you up on that offer Chacho. I knew it hurt your feelings but I had a reputation for ‘being one of the boys’ and...” Her thought trailed off as she stared at the locket. She bent her head down and I heard sobs. Soon she looked up at me with tears streaming down her face. before she could say anything I pressed my lips against hers. The tenderness of her lips during the kiss was enticing. The kiss felt like it set my heart ablaze. Both of us sharing a passionate kiss in the middle of Sweet Apple Acres with a full moon above us. In my mind there was nothing more romantic than that. We soon broke from the kiss breathing sharply, part from being exhausted from the race and the breath taking kiss we just shared.
Rainbow was the first of us to break the silence. “You always know how to make a girl feel special Chach. I really like that about you ya know that.” she said as she buried her head in my chest.
“What can I say I’m a sucker for a crying mare” I replied, earning a chuckle from Dash. I looked at my watch to check the time. Seven-thirty PM was the time my watch read. I let out an audible sigh.
“Sorry to kill the mood but Dash I gotta head home. Soon my mother will probably send a search team of Celestia’s royal guards looking for me.”
“Nope.” Rainbow simply replied.
“Thanks for ...” I started, but then realized what she said. “What?! Did you just say no to me leaving?!” I asked in shock.
“Yup.” Rainbow simply replied again.
“OK fine what do I have to do so I can go home Dashie?”
“Take me home first.”
“That's all?” I asked in disbelief.
“Yup. That's all.”
We started to trot over to where Dash’s house was always floating. It wasn't a long way from Sweet Apple Acres but still far from where I lived. After we got under her house we flew up to her house. We both stood at her door looking at each other, before Rainbow Dash spoke.
“Thanks for actually taking me home Chacho.”
“Its no biggie.”
I leaned in to give her a goodnight kiss and was granted one.
“Good night Dash.”
After Rainbow Dash went inside her house I started to fly home.
Well this day went way better than expected. Dash didn't get all jealous and defensive nor did she bring up the fact that Velvet and me sit next to each other in class. Maybe I was right, Dash probably outgrew those childish antics.
I arrived at my front door and pushed past it. I let my mother know that I was home and went straight to my room. As soon as my body hit the mattress I passed out making way for a new day.
As the days went on by, my relationship with Dash felt like it was going good, but I still felt like I didn’t spend enough time with her. She had work most days and I was in school almost everyday. I decided to ask Rainbow Dash’s friends if they knew any place which would be willing to hire a part-timer still in high-school. I could use the extra bits and then I wouldn’t be spending my afternoons doing nothing. Everyone of Dash’s close friends informed me that there were jobs but none of which I had met the requirements. I almost gave up then I saw an acquaintance of Rainbow Dash, Flitter.
“Hey Flitter got a minute?” I asked as I ascended to meet her in altitude.
“Um, sure I guess.” She replied hesitantly.
“Sweet. I have a quick question. Do you think you could hook me up with a job in weather patrol part-time?”
“Well...” She rubbed her hoof against her chin then started again, “Come to the office on Friday and be ready for an interview I can put in a few good word for you but you’ll need to ‘really’ want this job.”
“OK.” I replied with a smirk, then waited a few seconds and asked, “What time should I show up? And do I need to look ‘Professional’ or do I just go casual?”
“Just show up after you get out of class. Make sure you don’t leave your saddle bags at home.”
“Why should I bring them?” I asked inquisitively.
Flitter just smirked then replied, “To show that you are still a student and are willing to take on extra work. It also shows some determination, a young stallion looking for his first job is surely looking for a bright future don’t ya’ think? Also they might think you to be a sucker just looking to earn a few bits so don’t act shady.”
“OK. Thanks again Flitter.”

The next morning was spent like any other day in school. Except today I was going in for an interview, so today was no day to be fooling around. In my last class of the day I began staring out the window waiting for my day to come to an end. Velvet came up to me from behind and put her hooves over my eyes and said “Guess who?”
“Hmm. A pair of hooves that smell of delicious treats? It could be anypony.” I said sarcastically.
She slid her hooves from my eyes to my neck. A slight blush crept across my face. She then turned away from me as I spun around to see her head hung low and turned away from me.
“Oh yeah Velvet That’s your name again.” I said in exaggerated playfulness to try to lighten the mood a bit.
She looked a bit saddened even though I thought she knew I was joking. Its been at least three weeks that we’ve been friends. I thought she knew my sense of humor by now.
“H-hey you know I was joking right? How could I forget the name of that cute mare that makes delicious treats and shares them with me?”
still no response.
“Come on Velvet you know I was joking right?”
I started to think that I really hurt her feelings. Just as I was about to apologize to her and put up a flirty conversation with her I noticed her giggling.
“You jerk. You played me like a piano.”
“And you hit every note pitch perfect.” She replied while giggling and poorly hiding a blush.
I brush off the little jokes she played on me because she likes me, shes not very good at hiding that.
“So whatcha doin after class today Chacho?” She asked as she cocked her head to the left.
‘Why do I always find that look so cute?’
“Oh nothing really just got a job interview after I get out today.” I stated and shrugged and continued, “I really have no idea what to expect but hopefully I get the job.”
The bell rang.
“Well thats the end of your day chacho.” she said as she hugged me goodbye. As she was leaving the classroom she shouted, “Oh and good luck with the job!”
My face went hot as other young stallions and mares turned to see who she was shouting to. All eyes were on me for only mere seconds but it felt like an eternity. Soon everypony was back to their own business. After letting out a sigh of relief I took to the air flying over most of the other students landing at my locker. I opened it and closed it immediately remembering what Flitter told me not to forget to bring my saddle bags with me.
Flying towards the Ponyville Weather Patrol building I let my mind wander.
What if they really don’t need anypony? I’m broke, I’m not a graduate, I have no experience...My thoughts were brought to an end as I slammed into the side of building.
“Smooth.” I growled to myself as I brought myself to my hooves.
The building was not huge but it was relatively big. As I walked in I saw Flitter talking with the receptionist. She’s into chicks? Nah as I approached the two mares talking I said “Hey, Flitter.”
“Ah Chacho just the colt I wanted to see. OK so Thunderlane is out ‘sick’ today so you are filling in for him today.”
I was at a loss for words.
“Well what are ya standing around for go get your butt to the Northern section of Ponyville theres a few clouds that need bustin’”
“So does this mean I got the job?” I asked almost hesitantly
“Not if you don’t get on your assignment stat. We do need more help around here so no jokes yeah you have the job but if you screw up I’ll have your head. Understood?”
I saluted, “Yes mam’”
“Here’s your key to your assigned locker leave your stuff in there and head out.”
I looked for my locker number as I read the number on my key I chuckled to myself my locker number was 47. In my mind here was a picture of contract killer when ever I went to my locker, “Agent 47 Diana speaking.” was all I could say before I closed my locker with my saddle bags inside. I flew to the northern side of Ponyville and meet up with My temporary team: Cloud Kicker, Roid Rage, Rain Drop, and Rainbow Dash. Well this day just got a bit more interesting.
"OK Roid Rage you and Cloud Kicker work the southern part of Ponyville. I'll work on the North and the West. Rain Drop I'm sure you can handle the East." Rainbow dash said to her team.
"Then what about that guy?" Asked Cloud Kicker, "Flitter did say she was going to find a temp, maybe that's him."
"Well its about damn time!" Rainbow Dash exclaimed without turning around to see that it was me, "State your name, experience in weather patrol, and why I shouldn't just blow you off right now?" After finishing that sentence Dash looked me in the eye. It finally hit her, I was the new temp her coltfriend was her new temp for her ex Thunderlane.
"OK." I took a deep breath and started to answer the questions, "My name is Chacho, I don't know much about weather patrol, and you shouldn't blow me off because it'll be easier with me than without me."
Rainbow had a thin line of red across her face that I'm guessing that only I saw.
"Pfft. As if rookie you'd only be a liability and a hinderenc to our squad." Cloud Kicker starting her on slot of harsh words, "You wouldn't make a difference even if you tried your hardest. You're showing up here with no experience in weather patrol and expect to fit in with the best weather patrol squad in Ponyville? The next thing you'll be telling me is that your dating a Wonderbolt. Ha fat chance. Before you emb-"
Rainbow cut her off while trying to hide her rising anger.
"Actually he is dating a Wonderbolt." Cloud Kicker gasped along with the others in the squad.
"Dash, that was a great joke." Cloud Kicker stated after thinking about how much Rainbow Dash likes to play around.
"I'm not joking. He is" Rainbow replied with a serious face.
Roid Rage put me in a head lock and began to give me a noogie, and asked "So whose then lucky stallion-" "Mare." I corrected him while struggling to breathe, "could you please let me go. I can't breathe."
"Oh, my bad man. I just thought with a slender figure like yours that you'd be interested in stallions. So I'm going on a limb here and say you're dating Spitfire. Always thought she would be dating Sorin si-"
"She is dating him." I interrupted his train of thought.
"So she's-" once again I cut him off.
"No. Before you ask no she is not dating me and him nor is she going to leave him for me. I'm dating-" this time Rainbow Dash interrupted me as she tried to hide her blush by turning away to reassign teams.
"Enough with the chitchat Cloud Kicker since you seem not to like Chacho you'll be working with Rain Drop on the South. Roid Rage you'll be working with Chacho in the East since you and him seem to hit it off pretty well and you can teach him the basics of manipulating the weather, plus now you'll have another guy to talk about, uh, what ever it is most guys talk about. Finally I'll do the North and West."
Rainbow Dash knew what we would probably be talking about.
"Alright Chach. You don't mind if I call you Chach do ya?"
"Nah it's cool man."
"Yeah!" Roid Rage let out his signature yeah. Alright Chach lets head to the East and get this job done.
"Alright Rage let's go."
As Roid and I were out of ear shot Cloud Kicker immediately began to ask Rainbow if it was her that I was dating, but I could not catch the answer she gave. I hope she said yes, and hope she's not embarrassed about going out with me.
Roid Rage led the way to the Eastern part of Ponyville where a few clouds floated aimlessly.
We both landed on a cloud and Rage was going to tell me what to do.
"So Chach how'd you manage to get Rainbow man?"
Well he was supposed to tell me what to do. I just tilted my head and pretended not to know what he was talking about so we could get this job done with and I could possibly have a part time job locked in.
"Come again?" I asked hopefully hed get mad and not want to repeat himself.
"How'd you score with dash man?"
He was persistent for a pony who looked like going to the gym was the most important thing in the world.
"Well honestly." I stopped thinking if I should even tell him. I mean really I just met the guy and already he wants to know how I got Rainbow to be my marefriend. "First I want to know one thing before I even let you know."
"Shoot."
"You and Cloud Kicker-"
"Before you finish that statement yes we are together. And only because I'm sure you'll hold up to your end of the deal I'll tell you the whole story,but to be safe let's shake on it."
Looks like Roid Rage has the same rule for his bro-code as I do.
"Alright. But wont it cut into our work?"
"Nah what we gotta do is quick and we got plenty of time to just goof off."
I took his word for it and we shook on it. He started with when he went to try out for the Wonderbolts and got paired with Flitter's older sister Cloudchaser. Then going on about how she didn't want a relationship with him for some reason. He believes it was because she was with someone else and still tried to get with her. It didn't work out and he soon gave up. When he came back after dropping out of the academy Cloud Kicker caught his eye. She was everything he wanted in a mare: sweet, kind, a bitch when needed, and a killer body. He and her have been together for almost two full years.
"Wow so I guess your relationship is still going good, and that's great."
"Thanks Chach. Glad to have another bro to talk to. Don't get me wrong Thunderlane is cool and all but he's an asshole. Now how'd you score Dash man?"
Was it really that interesting? No,but I gave him my word with the bro-code by shaking on the deal.
I began to tell him how I met her and how I asked her out once and she rejected me, and me dealing with the heartbreak leaving out the parts when I cried to not look like a puss in front of what could be a good friend in the feature. And told him about how I saw her at the show in Ponyville and she spoke of how much of a mistake it was that she didn't go out with me and I took the opportunity to get together with her.
"And that's the whole story."
"Wow so not did you replace Thunderlane in her heart but also today in his place that's great man. But in all honesty dude I think she might be using you, and I've noticed her eyeing Cloudchaser."
I couldn't believe it. He could be right. I mean really, not only is Rainbow way out of my league, but Thunderlane has already had time to bond with her.
"Let's hope not don't really want another heartbreak because of her."
"Well that's enough slacking. So we got rain scheduled for tonight nit a lot but some rain. It needs to be scattered. So what we need to do is bust all the pure white fluffy clouds and rip apart the gray ones to have more clouds and leave the dark gray ones alone. Got it?"
"And then what?"
"Then we head back to town hall meet back up with the team and head back to the WPHQ."
"WPHQ? Is that the weather patrol headquarters?" He just nodded.in response.
After busting four white clouds myself and Rage busting the other seven, we began to tear the gray clouds in half so there can be more rain clouds and we tried to avoid the dark gray clouds completely. After we finished we headed back to the hall to regroup with everypony and head back to the HQ. Dash didn't even spare me a glance. I felt my fears coming true. Dammit I hope Rainbow just had a bad day instead.
After arriving at the station everypony had to give their reports to the boss which I have never met. So I decided to talk to the pony that was behind the desk earlier.
"Hey I was just wondering whats the boss like?"
She replied only loud eno8gh for me to hear "Which one? Because one is a real sweetheart and the other is a bitch."
"Oh man I'm so fucked with my luck I'd get the bitch."
"Oh don't worry about it. You'll be fine. Especially since you're cute."
At that comment I blushed a bit.
"Th-hanks heh-heh."
After my reply Rage came out of the boss's room signaling me to head inside. Now it was up to chance which boss I had to deal with. Maybe I should have asked what the names of the bosses. Too late now. I knocked on the door.
"Come in." I heard two voices say in unison.
Dammit just my luck I get both if them well I can kiss this job goodbye. I walked inside the office.
"Report." I heard a female voice say. "Uhhh." Was all I could say. Nailed it. The mare looked up from her desk and straight into my eyes.
"You must be the temp that my sister hired. Huh. Kinda cute. What's your name so I can put a name tag on your cute little face."
"Ch-chacho, m-my name is Chacho ma'am." Woohoo number one smooth talker and the best with formalities. I am so not getting this job.
"Chacho, eh? Suits you. Well I heard no complaints from your temporary squad and one actually requested that you be part of that squad but I'll have to take it up with my younger sister Flitter. So how'd you like the job?"
Before she finished talking I looked at her desk and saw her name tag which stated "Co - owner Cloudchaser" and wondered who was the other owner until she got to the end of her little evaluation of my name. I saw Flitters desk only feet away from her sisters but her back was facing me while she was doing something on the computer.
"Well I would really like to get to do this type of work it's pretty fun and my coworkers were amazing."
"He's still in high school sis so hell be able to work from anywhere past two pm. And we only have one squad that works at that time its Dash’s squad." Flitter said as she trotted over to her sister's side, "And I think we should let him join them."
I suddenly realized something. I am friends with one of the bosses. This could actually work out. I let them talk while I just stood there. Until they told me to get my stuff and come back in after I had my things. I hovered over to my locker, locker number forty - seven and noticed every locker in my row had a name over the number. Day Glider, Windrunner, Twister, Thunderlane, Roid Rage, Cloud Kicker, Rainbow Dash, Rain Drop, Fridgit Winds, Bennett Hooves and a whole lot more names which I couldn't read from standing in front of my locker. I took out mt saddle bags put them on and hovered my way back to the front door of Flitter and Cloudchaser's office and trotted in.
As I trotted into the bosses room for the second time today. Flitter and Cloudchaser stopped their conversation and both starred directly at me. I felt my heart drop into my stomach. I felt my whole body go cold and I started to sweat. Flitter broke the silence finally.
"So, Chacho. Are you going steady with Dash?" She let her question linger about. I felt flustered, but before I could give her an answer she began to speak again. "Its a rhetorical question by the way Chacho. I make it my business to know all my employees." She smiled as she finished her sentence. I finally found my voice, "So does this mean I got the job?" Way to go Chacho once again you stuffed your hoof in your mouth. "I-I mean-."
Cloudchaser cut me off, "Yes you do and you start tomorrow, on one condition." She stated in a harsh tone.
I felt weak as she said that last part and my mind wondered what could it be. So like the clever pony I am I asked, "What's the condition?"
She was stone faced before speaking "Don't let your relationship interfere with your work." She cracked a smile and added, "Oh and stay in school."
I smiled like a young colt that just got his crush to kiss him on the cheek on hearts and hooves day after asking them to be his special somepony.
"Thank you. Thank both of you for this opportunity I wont let you down."
Cloudchaser just nodded while Flitter responded to my thanks, "One more thing Chacho." Flitter began again "Payday is today so we can pay you for your work today, or next week we pay you for an extra day which do you prefer?"
"I know its kinda impolite asking how much am I working for but I want to know how much is a days wage?"
"Let me tell you how we determine the pay. For a cloudless day we pay fifteen bits. For a slightly rainy or snowy day like today twenty-five bits. For a heavy rain or snow forty bits, and there is a day to earn a bonus that's on hearts and hooves day. That day depending on how many pegasi come in that day determines the pay. Any questions?"
I shook my head letting her know she answered all of my questions and more.
"I think I'll take it next week."
"Ok. So we'll be sure to add today's pay to your next weeks pay. Well Chacho, I think you should head on home and get rested for tomorrow you need to be here by 2 pm sharp."
"Thank you once again for the job. I won't let you two down."
After a few months working in the weather patrol team I felt like I had it made. I had a job, the mare of my dreams, had the best friends a stallion could ask for and I'm almost done with school. Boy I couldn't be more wrong.
[Sunday afternoon]
"So Dash you free tomorrow? I was wondering if we could go out." I asked while waiting for Rainbow so I could escort her home.
"Huh? Oh. Yeah. I mean no I-Im pretty bussy tomorrow." She stammered but still managed to answer.
I let out a sigh. "Dash do you love me?"
The question seemed to catch her off guard.
"What kind of question is that?"
"Seriously Rainbow I'm getting the feeling that you don't share the same feelings that I feel for you." I averted my eyes from her. "I just feel like ... like I felt back when you turned me down. You are acting the same way you did before you went with Thunderlane."
"What?"
"Are you cheating on me Dash?"
The color from Rainbow Dash's face seemed to fade. And she faltered with her words trying to explain that she wasn't seeing anypony on the side.
"Stop lying Rainbow! I just wanted a straight answer because I already knew you were cheeting on me with Cloudchaser!" I yelled trying to keep my voice from cracking and holding back tears.
"Who told you!" Rainbow finally snapped. "You know what, yeah I'm cheating on you with one of our our bosses. You want to know why? Its because you are a door mat, you have no confidence in your self and -"
I cut her off.
"No." I said sternly. "You just keep me around because I will always take you back but you know what I am done. Im tired of the heartache Dash. We are through. So much for the element of loyalty. " Tears running from Rainbow Dash's face. Tears finally escaped from my eyes. I took off flying after that statement headding home because tomorrow is going to be a long day.
[Monday morning]
I awoke with no intent on doing anything today. I felt terrible, my eyes hurt from crying myself to sleep last night, and most of all my heart broke, again.
"Why am I so stupid."I groaned. I slamed my hoof into my pillow, "She played me just like she did before why the hell did I fall for it. Work is gonna be hard on me today. Well I got class today and that's something I gotta get through that before I even go to work."
Sluggishly I got out of bed and got ready for what I thought would be a horrible day.
My friends took into account that I was in a bad mood and some tried to comfort me.
"Ah, last class of the day." I said with slight enthusiasm.
"Yo Chah." Caleb said as he sat next to me. We did our secret hoof shake.
"Well things could be better man." I replied with a sigh.
"Mare problems?" Caleb asked. I simply nodded my head. "Want to talk about it?"
"I broke it off with Dash."
Caleb just looked at and chuckled "You almost had me there Chach." He continued to stare at me for a few seconds and realized I was serious. His ears pressed against his head as he spoke "Damn you're not jokeing are you." I shook my head. He sighed.
"She played me! She had me wrapped around her hoof and I was too blind to see this coming man." I fought back tears and felt a hooves wrap around my neck from behind.
"Don't let it get to you Chacho. She's not worth your tears." Velvet said as she nuzzled me.
All the feelings of doubt, every negative emotion just ... disappeared. I reached up and took hold of her hoof around my neck. As my hoof touched hers I herd her gasp and she pulled her self away from me. I turned arround and looked at her, she was blushing, had her ears pressed tightly against her head and she had her eyes cast towards the floor.
"T-t-thank you Velvet." I was blushing as I rubbed the back of my head.
"I'm sorry I didn't know what came over me." Velvet said still looking away with her face a bright shade of red. I leaned close to her face and planted a kiss on her check, and her face got even redder.
"Thank you Velvet. Thanks for making me realize that she isn't worth crying over." I scratched the back of my head and asked, "So ... do you wanna go hang out sometime? Im off tomorrow."
She nodded, "Yeah that would be nice."
The bell rang and everyone was ecstatic for the day to be done, almost everyone. I still had to work today and see Dash. Boy I was not looking foward to this.
I stuffed all my useless books in my locker and headed to work. "This is going to be a long day." I thought aloud to no one. I let out a depressing sigh and began to fly towards the WPHQ. I was talking to myself out loud. "Well I guess if I really want I could quit, or get fired, or ask to get placed in the moring run before class." Glad no one walked or flew this way I would have sounded like a lunatic talking to myself.
After arriving at work I spoke to the few ponies that spoke to me,like the pegasus pony sitting at the front desk. To which now I know her name was Sugarcloud,and she was just like her name, sweet.
"Hi Sugar how's your morning going?"
"Its been going well thanks you for asking. How was your school day?"
"Eh it was alright still getting over the fact that me and Dash are over."
"Oh. Sorry to hear that," she noticed my ears flatten, "Don't worry im sure you'll find yourself a nice mare just in time for your prom in a few months." Sugarcloud smiled at me and told me I should get going.
I left to my locker and I chucked my saddle pack in and closed the door and left to catchup with the rest of the weather patrole squad.
I got there just like always giving Roid Rage a hoof bump. "Ready to clear some clouss Rage?"
"Yeah!" He yelled in his trade mark voice, while flexing his front hooves. "Only one problem, today your working with Dash."
At hearing his words my happy-ish demeanor dropped. This day could not get any worse could it.
"Alright now that everypony is finally hear I'll let you all know what portion of Ponyville you will be attending to. Thunderlane and Roid Rage you two will be taking the eastern portion, Raindrop and Cloud Kicker you two take the south, and me and Chacho will take care of the north and west. Everypony understand?" Dash asked. We all nodded. "Good now let's go."
As the other two teams took off and Dash led me to where we would begin. We just started busting clouds at the furthest northen portion of the town and worked our way towards the center of town. We did the entire north section in silence. Nither me nor Dash doing any fancy busting of clouds. We went to the far west cornor of town and began to buat clouds again. I got bored of busting clouds normally so I started to show off a bit. Rainbow also started to do the same. We continued to bust clouds and I was enjoying myself and started to chuckle and laugh while busting clouds. Apparently laughing was contagous because I could have sworn I heard Dash laughing. Soon we came to a final cloud and we both raced toward it and broke through it at about the same time splitting in oppisate directions and landing. We looked at eachother and then things got awkward and silent.
"Dash-" "Chach-"
We said at the same time.
"You go first." I stated.
"Ok." She took a deep breath and started, "Chach-" she reached over to put a hoof on my shoulder, "I-I'm sorry. I'm sorry for playing with your emotions again. I just - just have needs and well I'm sorta into mares now." I cocked an eyebrow and was about to speak but she continued, "not recently I have been ever since after the incident with Thunderlane. He honestly made me sick. Even to think that I like him makes my stomach churn. Then after that jerk broke up with me because I wouldn't sleep with him. I almost gave up on life feeling heartbroken, because I thought I loved him, almost the way that you loved me. Then came the time to show my stuff off to the Wonderbolts. So I took that opportunity and well you know the rest but that doesnt mean I didnt feel anything when I-I cheated." Dash was fighting back tears and I could tell because her voice was cracking. I held her while she cried. "I-I'm Sorry!"
"Dash. I'm sorry too. Although I understand why you cheated on me. But I was way out of line challenging your athority on being the element of loyalty. I saw how much I hurt you when I said that and I know I can't take it back so I just hope that you could forgive me for that." Soon I found myself holding off on my tears. I failed, "Its ok if you never want to see my face around any more. I'll quit the job and I'll lower interactions between us and-" she put a hoof to my lips to silence me she looked up after she did that and stared into my eyes. Her eyes were pink and puffy from crying. I held her and she lowered her head once more. I wrapped my wings around her to show that I wasn't going anywhere.
We sat in a field for maybe fifteen minutes but it felt like hours. We both finally stopped crying and were ready to head back to let the HQ know we were done. As I got back on my hooves Dash tugged at my back leg.
"Thanks for hearing me out Chacho. Sorry that I played you but you are a great stallion I'm sure you'll find a mare that likes you for you, and you can take her to prom too, and maybe put on your charm and make her fall head over hooves for you." She nudged me and winked.
"Thanks Rainbow Dash. Maybe one day I will." I chuckled at the little joke she made. " So are we cool?"
She tapped her chin with her hoof while looking to the sky, "Yeah, we're cool." We hugged and flew back to the HQ.
After getting back to the HQ Dash went in to give her report. She emerged from the room and told me to head in. I went in and gave my report, got my stuff and left to go home.
"Who to take to the prom?" I said to no one while flying home.
It was getting close to that time of the year when all the ponies in Ponyville High would celebrate one last time with their friends as students in Ponyville High, that night was prom night. Sadly this morning I found out the reason why my mother had sold the cottage. We were moving, and out of all my friends I am moving the furthest, Philadelphia. Some of my other friends are going to Canterlot some staying in Ponyville and some of the pegasi going to Clouds Dale. So I knew I had to have as much fun as possible with all of my friends.
While the day came closer I found out a few of my friends weren't going to prom so I had to find time to hang out with them because I after this its graduation and then Goodbye Ponyville. I wanted to ask Velvet to go to prom with me but I thought that she would already have a date for prom. My infamous two of my friends were walking toward me.
"Hey Chacho" both stallions said almost in sync.
"What's up guys?" I replied cheerfully.
"Going to hang with Red and Caleb at the park after school want to come?" Quills asked.
I answered "Sure I'll meet you guys there."
All three of us nodded and walked away going to our last period classes. I walked into the room full of computers (this was my architecture class room) we didn't have anything to do today and I finished the work that's due at the end of the day yesterday so I was in the clear I sat down next to Velvet. She was struggling to finish her work again so I started to help her with her work. She soon finished and handed it to the teacher. Delighted that she was finished as well she opened her saddle bag, "Want a cupcake?" she asked politely. "Sure what kind is it this time?" I asked. "It's a surprise" she said giggling. I took a bite and it was amazing I loved every bite of it.
I started to muster up the courage to ask her to go to prom with me. After I psyched myself up I asked her "Are you going to prom?" Nailed it.
"No I can't." she said as her ears drooped down.
"Oh" I said with disappointment in my voice. The bell dismissing the class.
"Hey I'm headed to the park want to tag along?"
She shook her head, "I can't. My mother is out of town and I need to watch my dog. But maybe we could hangout tomorrow." I gave Velvet a hug and said goodbye. I went to the park to meet my friends there, and soon I arrived at the park.
At the park, in the hot sun we played hoof ball, but after four hours of playing hoof ball I started to feel tired, and started to go home. I had to quit the job because I was moving and there wasn't an opening in the Philadelphia WPHQ.
I started to fly home but got tired and decided to walk instead. I started to remember that tomorrow is the prom and then graduation in the next three days wow time flew by too quickly. I got home to the apartment and noticed a note on the door form mom,
"Hi sweetie,
I left with the movers to start getting settled in our new home. I left you fifty bits for the time being. I'll be back the day before your graduation. Have fun at your prom tomorrow. Love, Mom"
After reading that I went to bed tomorrow was going to be a big day, even if I don't have a date.
[Prom day]
Today is the prom I was excited and sad all at the same time. I went to take a shower and put on my blazer for prom. While leaving the apartment building I noticed my friends and some ponies I didn't know. They wanted to take pictures with me. I didn't mind so I went with them. I was technically going to the prom alone.
We went to take some pictures by a garden and then soon went to Canterlot where the prom was being held I heard it was in the same hall as the Grand Galloping Gala. I really was impressed at the sights. As we were walking in Princes Celestia herself greeted us and congratulated us on graduating. We were all looking our best with our fancy blazers and dresses. Of course Sunny Day was with somepony I didn't know but I didn't care because I never had a shot at her to begin with even being her friend and all.
We all danced to our hearts content, ate with each other and reminisced all the good times we shared together. We all enjoyed the prom, but all good things cone to an end. So we eventually started to go home. I had an awesome time with my friends. But to my surprise I found myself thinking about Velvet I did want her to come too, but she couldn't.
Just getting into my apartment I received a letter from my mother saying that she will be bringing a moving truck tomorrow night to move my stuff to Philadelphia. I told myself that I would pack first thing in the morning because I was too tired and it was almost two in the morning.
[The morning after prom]
I awoke and instead of packing went to the park remembering that one of my friends, Red, wanted to play hoof ball he didn't go to the prom so this was my last friend to hang out with unless I saw Velvet again. It was around mid-afternoon I started to walk home to my apartment thinking about passing by the school once more just to say goodbye to the building like it knew how to talk or something.
After passing by the school one last time before heading back home I noticed some ponies I recognized they lived in my building as well but to my surprise Velvet was with them. The last time I remember speaking to her was two days ago and I usually talk to her everyday so that was a long time. As we all approached the door the ponies all brohoofed me seeing as I knew them all they walked inside and Velvet pulled my hoof.
"Um Chacho" she started "C-can w-we talk?" she said with a tear in her right eye. She was hurting and I had no idea why so I gave her a hug she started tearing. "I- I" she started again tears still welling up in her eyes "I-I love you!" she said while burring her muzzle into my chest. "Please, Please don't leave!" I couldn't control myself. The only other mare that I liked was crying over me. I raised her muzzle with my hoof and I kissed her passionately. She was shocked but she didn't pull away or struggle to get away. The tears in her eyes started to stream out I could feel them on my muzzle when I pulled away. We stared into each other's eyes for a moment but it felt like an eternity so I opened the apartments' front door then we walked up the staircase and I unlocked the door to my apartment.
"Are you sure its ok for me to be here?" Velvet asked curiously and clearing the leftover tears from her eyes.
"Yeah I live alone and my mom is coming tomorrow night to help me finish moving. If you need to I have a phone to tell your parents that you're staying at a friend's house" I answered offering her a hoof inside.
She shook her head and said, "My parents are out tonight and I was home alone so I figured to drop in and see if I could spend some time with you, if that's OK I mean." She trotted into the small apartment. We sat down me being tired from hoof ball and she was tired for some reason as well. I went to take a shower came out and told her.
"Well if you want you can sleep in my bed and I'll just sleep on the floor" She nodded her head no "Can we sleep together?" she asked softly while blushing in a cute voice "I hate being alone".
"Um OK" I replied beginning to become flustered in the face. We both got into bed both exhausted from what we each did on our day off.
Velvet asked "Chacho?"
"Yeah Velvet?" I asked.
Velvet asked "Could you umm hold me while I sleep so I can feel safe?"
"S-sure" I replied once again blushing.
I had never had a girl I liked over my apartment and yet one that I find really cute is in my bed with me asking me to hold her nopony would believe me even if I told them this happened so I'll just keep this to myself. As I raised my hoof to put it around her neck she sighed and smiled then she soon drifted off into a deep sleep. I was awake for what felt like an eternity just staring at the defenseless mare who just confessed her love for me. I soon drifted off into a deep sleep myself.
[Moving day]
I awoke at the slither of light that broke the darkness. I noticed Velvet was still sleeping. I didn't want to wake her so I flapped my wings so I could get out of my bed. I started to pack what little of my belongings I had and then I finished. I thought about making her breakfast but I had no idea what she liked so I decided to wait till she got up so I could take her out to eat. She awoke soon and smiled at me. I made my way over to her and nuzzled her and asked her where she wanted to eat. She looked shocked, she sat on her haunches and turned away then said, "And then what you ask me to be your girlfriend or something cheesy like that?" I wrapped my front hooves around her from behind and whispered in her ear, "Nope." I let a grin across my face then continued "I do have feelings for you but I'll be moving by the end of today and that wouldn't be right. Seeing me leave would hurt you and I couldn't do that to you." she smiled and noticed all of my things were packed.
After leaving the apartment we got breakfast and then went to our respected homes to get ready for graduation.
All the ponies were so emotional and we would all miss each other. Gizmo and Quills both gave me hugs as we said out final goodbyes to each other I started to cry because they are my Best Friends Forever. Then after all the people who knew me said goodbye to me and wished me luck Velvet walked up to me and started to ask, "Do you love me?" I stared at her and just kissed her. I think that answered her question because she blushed hard. Then she asked "Will you ever come back?" I averted my eyes and gave a shrug. I just took off and cried as I flapped my wings I yelled at the top of my lungs "I love you Velvet!" Then said it again softly to myself. As I moved the last of my stuff in a sky wagon.
After I was settled in I sent a letter to Velvet.
Dear Velvet,
I couldn't ask you to come with me because I might never come back, but I wanted to let you know that I love you Velvet I always have. I'll see if I can come back to Ponyville someday. Someday I'll tell you my feelings face to face. And maybe just maybe we could be together.
