Rainbow Dash is stilling in a metal chair in the waiting room of the Canterlot hospital and is not very happy about it. After giving a quick description of what was happening to her, Rainbow Dash was told to wait there until the nurse came, and Rainbow Dash has been there for a few minutes now and has lost all her patience.

“Rainbow Dash, isn’t this nostalgic?” the nurse asked as soon as she walked in just before Rainbow Dash went up to the desk and asked what is taking so long. Rainbow Dash looked up to her and saw a familiar face.

“Nurse Redheart?” Rainbow Dash asked, noting that she looked exactly like Nurse Redheart. In fact the only difference Rainbow Dash could see between this nurse and Nurse Redheart was she had a horn and the Cutie Mark, which was still the same thing only of a different color.

“No that would be my niece in Ponyville,” the nurse said. “I’m nurse Blueheart.”

“Ok then…whatever,” Rainbow Dash said. She squirmed around in the chair she was in, finding it really uncomfortable. Why the hay do they use metal chairs for a hospital? It’s really annoying having to sit in one of these. “Anyways, what do you mean about nostalgic? This is my first time in here!”

“I’m not talking about seeing you here,” the unicorn mare said. “This reminds me so much of when I would see your father in here because of some battle injury or just to keep up with his physicals.”

Rainbow Dash just rolled her eyes at the mention of her father. Her father, Spectral Flare, used to be a member of the royal guard a long time ago before Rainbow Dash was even born. Because of that while she is spending time in Canterlot she is recognized by some ponies as Spectral Flare’s daughter due to her rainbow colored mane. Rainbow Dash normally wouldn’t really care, but for some reason that is really bugging her right now. Among other things like that chair she is in.

“Yeah yeah yeah,” Rainbow Dash said. “So doc, can we get this over with already? I’m perfectly fine and ready to go back and tell Spitfire this was a waste of time right?”

“Well we should just talk to be sure,” the nurse said. She then went on a completely different subject. “By the way, how is my niece doing in Ponyville?”

I’d say you’re random but I’m friends with Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash thought.

“You’re niece is doing just fine,” Rainbow Dash said. “Now can we get back to what is happening to me?”

“Right,” the nurse said. She levitated up a clipboard and started asking some questions. “Now Rainbow Dash, how long have you been feeling sick during the mornings? And I want you to be honest with me. Spitfire is not going to necessarily hear this unless she needs to.”

“…About a week,” Rainbow Dash said in an almost sad voice. “I’ve been mostly keeping it to myself so that I don’t miss any practices. I feel fine after a while anyways, so I don’t see any reason to worry anypony about that.” She then started in an angry voice. “It’s not like it matters! They shouldn’t worry about me! I can take care of myself!”

“You seem to be experiencing mood swings as well,” the nurse noted. “So has anything…interesting…happen within the past month?”

“Interesting as in?” Rainbow Dash asked.

“You and Soarin’ have been married for a while now haven’t you?” the nurse asked. “Around five months or so?”

“Yeah, and?” Rainbow Dash asked.

“That sounds like enough time for her to have been…” the nurse mumbled to herself while writing in her clipboard. She then looked at Rainbow Dash. “By the way, you’re a Wonderbolt right?”

“Uhh yeah,” Rainbow Dash said. “That’s kind of why I mentioned Spitfire.”

“How is my cousin Nurse Goldheart doing over in Baltimare?” the nurse asked.

“How the hay would I know?” Rainbow Dash asked. “I don’t usually go to any other hospital besides the one in Ponyville! I’m only here now because Spitfire forced me to? And what does all of this have to do with me anyways?”

“Hmm…yeah it is looking like that’s what it is,” Nurse Blueheart once again mused to herself.

Great, this is going to take forever isn’t it? Rainbow Dash thought. I’m going to be stuck in here in this room on this cold chair all day doing absolutely nothing except for talking to this random nurse. Ugg…Spitfire is so going to get it from me as soon as she is off duty.

“Well I didn’t think I would ever be doing this,” Nurse Blueheart said, finally turning her attention back to Rainbow Dash and back on topic.

“Doing what?” Rainbow Dash asked. She was starting to get really nervous. “Do I need to get some sort of surgery or something? I thought I only had some kind of stomach bug or something stupid like that.”

“No you don’t need any surgery Rainbow Dash,” Nurse Blueheart said. She was looking directly at Rainbow Dash. “I would have never guessed. I remember that day like it was yesterday. I don’t know why, but it is one of those days you just never forget no matter how long it has been since then.”

“What are you talking about?” Rainbow Dash asked, going back to annoyed.

“It was more than twenty years ago,” Nurse Blueheart one again mused to herself. “I was just getting started here at this hospital and they were the first two ponies I gave this news to. I remember both of their reactions too really well.”

“Mind cluing me in on what exactly you’re talking about?” Rainbow Dash asked.

“I would have never guessed in my entire career as a nurse that I would ever be giving the same news I gave to them to their child,” Nurse Blueheart continued musing to herself. “I feel my career has almost gone full circle.”

Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes. “Fine continues on with whatever rant you’re doing. I apparently don’t need to go anywhere anytime soon.”

“And you know, I think that you are sitting in the exact place that she was that day,” the nurse continued as if Rainbow Dash didn’t talk. “Now if only you had you’re stallion here on you’re left side then it would be exactly like back then.”

“Are you going to tell me what’s going on or should I just leave now and give Spitfire the ok?” Rainbow Dash asked.

“Rainbow Dash, we should probably check just to make sure, but I think I know what it going on,” Nurse Blueheart said finally getting to the point. “Rainbow Dash, you are pregnant.”

“What?!” Rainbow Dash asked. “I’m…pregnant? As in I’m going to have a foal?”

“By the way have you seen my sister Nurse Whiteheart in Cloudsdale lately?”

“So…I’m going to have foal?” Rainbow Dash asked ignoring Nurse Blueheart’s questioning about her family.

“Not right now,” Nurse Blueheart said. “But you will eventually. Right now you’re only around one or two months along so you still have a long way to go.”

Rainbow Dash sat there thinking about what exactly this means. She is pregnant. She is going to have a foal sometime soon. In fact from what she knows, right now the foal is growing inside of her. Her every action will now not only affect her, but also the foal.

“Alright doc, what does this mean for me?” Rainbow Dash asked.

“Have you…?” the nurse was about to ask, but Rainbow Dash put a hoof up.

“No I have not seen any of your relatives except for Nurse Redheart,” Rainbow Dash said. “So can we stay on topic?”

“Ok,” the nurse said. She was once again writing some things in her clipboard. “I want to do a few tests just to make sure we know how far along you are. Also you are going to need to go on a diet. Remember, you’re not just feeding yourself but your foal as well.”

“Great, I’m going to hate this diet aren’t I?” Rainbow Dash asked.

“It’s a very lenient diet, but once you start getting cravings you might have a little difficulty keeping it,” Nurse Blueheart said. “I’d recommend keeping away from whatever you end up craving and have anypony you trust help keep you away from it. But as I said before, you should be fine. So long as you keep your vital nutrients up you should have no problem.”

“Ok anything else I should know?” Rainbow Dash asked.

“I’d recommend coming back to the doctor’s office at least twice a month so that we can check on your foal and make sure he or she is developing at the right place,” the nurse said. “You can check in the hospital either here or Ponyville and we’ll make sure to pass the records between us. So don’t worry about that.”

“And what about practices?” Rainbow Dash asked. “How is this going to affect my Wonderbolt training?”

“For now you’re going to want to tone down your training as much as you can,” Nurse Blueheart explained. “Try not to do any dangerous tricks and keep your tricks mild anyways. If you aren’t careful then you…” the nurse stopped herself. “Just if you don’t want to go through a very depressing time I would recommend avoiding that.”

“Yeah, I can probably figure it out,” Rainbow Dash said looking at her stomach.

“You weren’t planning on having this foal weren’t you?” Nurse Blueheart asked.

“It’s not…it’s not that it’s just this is sort of shocking,” Rainbow Dash said. “Soarin’ wanted a foal for a while now, but I didn’t really think I was going to have one any time soon. And I guess I didn’t really know how it would feel until it happened. It just feels like, it’s happened now and I’m pretty much stuck with it. I just don’t really like having something happen that I can’t change.”

“You know adoption is an option if you’re not feeling sure about yourself,” the nurse said.

“No,” Rainbow Dash said. “I’m not going to abandon this foal. I’m going to do whatever I can to raise this kid. I’ve been parenting Scootaloo for a while now, so I think I’m ready for a foal. I hope I am anyways.”

“Do you want to know how you’re parents reacted when I told them about you?” the nurse asked.

“I already know,” Rainbow Dash said. “My dad told me a long time ago. He told me that when he was told my mom was pregnant with me, it was one of the worse moments of his life. He and my mom weren’t married yet when they learned that my mom was pregnant. So he either had to leave the Royal Guard and be with her, or cut ties with her to stay in the Royal Guard. Knowing how bad things would go for both her and me if he didn’t leave the Royal Guard he decided to take his leave and go to Cloudsdale with my mom. He really didn’t want to, but because of me he felt he had to.”

“But at the same time,” the nurse said cutting into Rainbow Dash’s speech, “when I asked them if they wanted to put you up for adoption, you’re father answered the same thing that you did. He said that he isn’t going to abandon you and he would do whatever it takes to raise you. You know, you get you’re loyalty from your father. He may not have liked the idea and may not have thought he was ready, but he was completely willing to take care of you. And while you weren’t born here, I did hear from your father later and he told me…”

“That while his worse moment of his life was when he learned my mom was pregnant with me, the best moment when I was finally born,” Rainbow Dash finished off. She looked at her stomach once more. “I guess I hope that I’ll feel the same way when this little filly or colt is born.”

“I’m sure you will,” Nurse Blueheart said. She held out a hoof for Rainbow Dash. “We should get those tests done just to check on the foal done soon so you can go tell the good news.”

“Alright,” Rainbow Dash said as she got up from her chair. “Let’s get this over with.”

~

So yeah, I learned that I was going to have a foal. That sounds pretty awesome right? And I thought it was. After going through it in my head a bit I actually grew to like the idea. I was starting to really like the idea of having a foal and was ready to go about my day. So all I needed to do is tell everybody about it and make sure they know. Sounds good right?

I kind of wish it was that easy. In fact, if it wasn’t for a certain filly and a certain colt I might not have ever told anypony about it. But I’m getting way too far ahead of myself. I should probably start like most books in Twilight’s library start. At the beginning of the day I learned that I was pregnant.

“Soarin’!” the captain of the Wonderbolts, Spitfire, called out. The yellow pegasus with a fiery orange mane was getting really impatient with the delay for practice that day. And she was about to rout out the cause of the delay.

“Yes captain?” Soarin’ asked.

“Where in the hay is Rainbow Dash?!” Spitfire asked. “I told you both that just because Scootaloo has school off today does not mean you two can skip practice to spend some time with her!”

“I’m right here you know,” the pegasus filly said from afar. Scootaloo was watching the Wonderbolts from afar getting ready to enjoy seeing their awesome tricks. After some events which lead to Rainbow Dash adopting Scootaloo, Scootaloo has been living either with Rainbow Dash and Soarin’ at their loge in the Wonderbolt headquarters, or at Rainbow Dash’s cloud manor in Ponyville. While Scootaloo is normally in Ponyville for school, because she had the day off they decided to give Rainbow Dash the day off from taking her there.

To answer Spitfire’s question Soarin’ said, “Well Rainbow Dash was still asleep when I got up this morning. I let her sleep because she usually has to get up early in the mornings to take Scootaloo to school. Maybe she overslept?”

“Well then go to your room and wake up your wife!” Spitfire said pointing a hoof at Soarin’. “I don’t care if she knocks you one for it, just get Rainbow Dash here!”

Soarin’ sighed, not looking forward to that confrontation. “I’m on it Spitfire.”

“I’m here, I’m here!” Rainbow Dash came outside in a half-trot half-fly. The cyan pegasus with a rainbow mane quickly took her place in line next to Soarin’. Her mane was looking really unkempt, and her Wonderbolt uniform looked like she hastily put it on. She also had a very tired expression, and it almost looked sickly on her. Everybody noticed her, but she tried to act like nothing was going on. Of course, that didn’t stop Spitfire.

“Rainbow Dash, what is wrong with you?” Spitfire asked. “You look horrible today. Did you not get any sleep last night or something?”

“I don’t think that’s the problem,” Soarin’ said to his wife, also looking at her with concern. “You were sleeping fine when I woke up this morning.”

“I’m fine,” Rainbow Dash lied. “It’s nothing.” But as soon as she said that she made a loud burp. After that loud burp a smell came from her mouth that caused the Wonderbolt to Rainbow Dash’s left to back up and Soarin’ to be even more concerned about her health.

“Dash, are you sure you’re ok?” Soarin’ asked. “I’m sorry Dashie, but your breath smells worse than when Fleetfoot pranked you into drinking rotten milk.” Rainbow Dash gave him a look. “But your breath normally smells good,” Soarin’ said in order to save himself.

“I’m sure she’s just fine,” Scootaloo said after coming closer to see what was going on. “This is Rainbow Dash we’re talking about. Nothing can hurt her.”

“What happened this morning Rainbow Dash?” Spitfire asked.

“Nothing,” Rainbow Dash quickly said, but as another smell wafted that excuse went away quickly. “Ok I might have…thrown up a little this morning,” Rainbow Dash admitted. “But that’s probably from something I ate last night. It’s nothing to worry about. I can still fly even with this sickness.”

“Rainbow Dash I want you to go see a doctor now!” Spitfire said. “I don’t care if you think it ‘nothing’ I want you to make sure of that!”

“But aren’t we learning a bunch of new tricks today?” Rainbow Dash asked. “I don’t want to be gone for that?”

“Rainbow Dash, your loyalty is admirable, but that was an order! Soarin’ or I can give you a rundown of what we learned when you get back, but for now go!” Spitfire said, making sure that is understood she means business.

Rainbow Dash looked ready to argue, but she knew Spitfire was not going to let up on this point. Not to mention Soarin’ would probably come in eventually and then it would be two to one, not counting Scootaloo. So grudgingly, Rainbow Dash took off for doctor’s office in Canterlot below.

“Ehh you guys will see,” Scootaloo said. “I’m sure Rainbow Dash will come back from the doctors learning she is completely fine.”

“Better we send her away and learn she is fine then we let her practice and she and possibly others gets hurt,” Spitfire said. She moved her focus back to the Wonderbolts. “All right everypony! Let’s take off and get to work! We need to try out best even though we have a vacant spot!”

“Hey, maybe I can take that vacant spot!” Scootaloo said hopefully.

“No!” more than half the Wonderbolts said.

Scootaloo was looking down, but Spitfire said in order to raise her spirits, “maybe someday Scootaloo, but your still much too inexperienced for now.” Scootaloo looked happier and flew back to her earlier spot to continue watching. Wave Chill gave Spitfire a surprised look. “Train that look to the sky Wave Chill, we’ve got work to do,” Spitfire said. “Everypony up!”

~

Scootaloo was nervously passing in front of the entrance to the Wonderbolt H.Q. If any of the Wonderbolts happened to pass by she would act like nothing is wrong. She didn’t want anypony to think she is nervous even though she is. Rainbow Dash has been at the doctor’s office all day, and Scootaloo was starting to get worried.

She looked over the side of the clouds and saw the many colors beyond Canterlot. Canterlot itself doesn’t have any trees in it, however because it is high up already and the Wonderbolt H.Q is even higher in the sky, Scootaloo got to see the orange colors all around. She doesn’t know exactly why, but Scootaloo has always found the fall colors comforting. And even though it is still quite early in the fall, there are still a few colors to be seen.

Eventually Rainbow Dash finally flew up from the clouds and landed in front of Scootaloo. As soon as Scootaloo saw that Rainbow colored mane, she put on her best confident face to hide her relief.

“Hey Rainbow Dash!” Scootaloo said calmly. “So, you’re perfectly fine right?”

Rainbow Dash put on a nervous face and said, “Well Scootaloo…” As soon as Scootaloo got worried Rainbow Dash smiled and said, “Just kidding you Scoots! Naw, I’m not only fine, I’m better than fine.”

“Really?” Scootaloo asked. “What did the doctor say?”

“Well Scootaloo, according to the doctor I’ve got an awesome new foal on the way!” Rainbow Dash said proudly.

“A new…foal?!” Scootaloo asked. She took that in for a few seconds before getting a smile on her face. “So that means…?”

“Yeah, we get another awesome kid to our family!” Rainbow Dash said.

“Ohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh!” Scootaloo squeed. “That’s great.”

“You bet squirt,” Rainbow Dash said. “Anyways, would you mind keeping this a secret for now? I want to be sure I’m the first to tell Soarin’ about it. After I tell him, then you can make sure to spread the word.”

“Sure Rainbow Dash!” Scootaloo said.

“So anyways, how was practice today?” Rainbow Dash asked.

“Ehh…I got bored and left before I got to see much,” Scootaloo said. “Watching ponies learn a new trick isn’t nearly as fun as learning a new trick myself.”

“Yeah I guess,” Rainbow Dash said. “Aw well, I was hoping you would tell me a bit about it so that I wouldn’t have to listen to Spitfire drill it into my head. But then again, depending on how dangerous the trick is I probably don’t want to be trying it right now. I could also get a few days off which means I can get some of my much needed afternoon naps back.”

“Uhh…Rainbow Dash?” Scootaloo asked.

“I just rambled on like I’m Pinkie Pie didn’t I?” Rainbow Dash asked. Scootaloo nodded. “Sorry about that. According to the doctor I’m going to do that a lot soon apparently.” Rainbow Dash chuckled. “Makes me almost worried about what will happen when this happens to Pinkie Pie. Her stallion better be careful then.”

Both Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo enjoyed a good laugh at that thought. The two of them got many strange looks from passing by Wonderbolts, but they didn’t care. They both were having fun, and it didn’t matter to Scootaloo what the other ponies thought about them. And while it did for Rainbow Dash, that only caused her to stop a bit faster than Scootaloo.

“Anyways Scoots, I’m off to go tell Soarin’,” Rainbow Dash said. “I’ll see you later.”

“See ya Rainbow Dash!”

~

Rainbow Dash was en route to the room that she and Soarin share. She passed by a few Wonderbolts on the way and most of them asked how she is, but she told all who asked that she was just fine. Rainbow Dash not only wanted to be the first to tell Soarin’, but besides Scootaloo Rainbow Dash wanted Soarin’ to be the first to know.

Rainbow Dash did notice something was off with everypony she passed by on the way to her room, but she didn’t really pay attention. She was more interested in getting to Soarin’ and telling him the good news. Maybe if she remembers to after telling Soarin’, she would ask him about what happened. But she probably won’t.

She reached her door and opened it up. Instead of seeing Soarin’ napping in the bed or maybe eating a piece of pie he stole from the mess hall, Soarin’ was spread on the ground groaning in pain. His Wonderbolt suit was sprawled next to the wall in an unorganized mess. As soon as Rainbow Dash saw him, she was more worried about his condition then telling him about hers.

“Soarin’ are you…?” Rainbow Dash asked, but was cut off in the middle of her question.

“Yeah I’m fine,” Soarin’ said sharply. Rainbow Dash winced at the tone of his voice. Soarin’ managed to see Rainbow Dash’s expression so he apologized. “Sorry about that Dash. Practice was really rough today, and I’m really sore because of it. And please, don’t make any jokes about how I’m Sorein’ right now. I’m not in the mood right now.”

“So the trick was that hard to do huh?” Rainbow Dash asked. It must have been, she thought. Soarin’ is almost never in a bad mood. Let alone in this bad of a mood.

“Yeah, you can be glad you weren’t there,” Soarin’ said. “I don’t think Spitfire was really sure on how hard this trick was, because even she was having trouble with it.” Soarin’ groaned again. “So anyways…”

“So has Spitfire said anything about continuing to try that trick, or are we going to quit trying that trick?” Rainbow Dash asked. She knew the answer to that question already, but she is using that as a way to stall the inevitable question that Soarin’ is going to ask.

“She is trying to think of a different way of going at this trick, but yeah were still doing it eventually,” Soarin’ said. “We’ve had to learn hard tricks and formations before and we didn’t give up then. So I don’t think Spitfire will let us give up on this trick. Even if half of the team wants her to try something else.”

“Hey, I’m sure we will get it eventually,” Rainbow Dash said confidently.

Soarin’ took a deep breath. “Easy for you to say,” Soarin’ said. “You were at the doctor’s office all day. Speaking of which…”

“I think I’m going to go see Spitfire and get a rundown of what went on today,” Rainbow Dash interrupted. “See ya around Soarin’.” She then went out of the room as fast as possible before Soarin’ once again went back to the question.

When she got outside the room she took a deep breath. She looked back into the room and said to herself “I can’t tell Soarin’ I’m pregnant now. He’ll take it badly and he won’t be happy with it. I’ll just…I’ll just avoid him until he’s feeling better. When he’s less sore then I’ll tell him about the foal. Yeah, it’ll be just fine.”

Rainbow Dash looked back to her room sadly before walking away.

~

Thinking about it now, that was probably the stupidest think I’ve done. Soarin’ has told me several times that he has always wanted a foal. So the idea that he would take the fact that I’m going to have a foal badly was really not my brightest move. But hay, I wasn’t really thinking about that at the moment.

Chapter 2

Soarin’ was sore, tired, and not in the best of moods ever. He had one of the worst practices he has ever been in and probably one of the most failed Wonderbolt practices he has ever been in. Nothing went right and he is more tired than ever. Yet he was still conscious enough to figure out that his wife was hiding something from him. Whenever Soarin’ tried to bring up the visit to the doctor’s office to Rainbow Dash, she would interrupt him by talking about today’s practice. She was obviously hiding something and Soarin’ was going to find out. …As soon as every movement doesn’t cause him pain.

He got a quick rest of about 20 minutes and then set out to scour the Wonderbolt H.Q to find Rainbow Dash, even though he wasn’t even sure she was still here. She is fast enough to go wherever she wants whenever she wants so she could be taking refuge in Ponyville with her 5 friends. But Soarin’ was hoping that she was somewhere here so that he could confront her before tonight. That is going to be one awkward nighttime talk and Soarin’ would rather hit the hay earlier then later so he’d rather get this over with before tonight.

Soarin’ first went to find Spitfire in her office, because Rainbow Dash did say she was going to see her. But of course as Soarin’ sort of expected, Spitfire was alone in her and Rainbow Dash was nowhere to be seen. Spitfire was in her office using a horseshoe stamp to stamp some posters similar to the ones that are on her walls. She was also once again in her commander outfit with the sunglasses instead of her Wonderbolt outfit. To this day Soarin’ still finds Spitfire’s commander outfit to be intimidating because of memories from his time within the Wonderbolt Academy. It is mostly from the shock of seeing Spitfire in public, and then Spitfire in authority.

“Hey Spitfire,” Soarin’ said, “have you seen Rainbow Dash anywhere today?”

“Well she burst in here a few minutes ago to tell me she was back before she suddenly left,” Spitfire said without taking her eyes off her work. “Why?”

“I was just wondering if she happened to tell you anything about her visit to the doctor’s office,” Soarin’ said.

“No not really,” Spitfire said. She finally looked up from her work to Soarin’. “I asked her about it, but as soon as I did she ran out of the room. She hasn’t told you about it either?”

“No she hasn’t and it’s worrying me,” Soarin’ said. “Every single time I mentioned it Rainbow Dash would immediately change the subject to something else.”

“Hmm…that sound odd,” Spitfire said. “If I happen to see her again I’ll ask her about it. And if she tries to hide it I’ll force it out of her.”

“Spitfire!” Soarin’ exclaimed.

“No I’m not going to force it out of her like that,” Spitfire said, “but I am going to make sure that she tells me. Rainbow Dash can’t be keeping any secrets from me if I am going to make sure we do things as best as possible during practices. ”

“Well I’m going to go see her and try and figure out what is wrong with her myself,” Soarin’ said.

“Alright, good luck Soarin’,” Spitfire said returning to her work. As soon as Soarin’ left through the door Spitfire mumbled to herself, “Well this is sounding way to familiar then I’d like it to. I hope I’m wrong on this, but if I’m not then…”

She put down her stamp and went to one of the drawers on the right side of the room. She opened up the door and grabbed out a letter. After reading over that letter a few times Spitfire put it back in her drawer and sat down in her chair again.

“If not then this is way too nostalgic for my tastes,” Spitfire said before going back to her work.

~

Soarin’ left Spitfire’s office and sighed. Well Rainbow Dash at least went to Spitfire, he thought. So she isn’t technically lying. Maybe I’m wrong about her. She could have just been more concerned about me and only interrupted me just to make sure I’m fine. But then why did she suddenly run out? Well, I’ll just keep looking for her and see for myself.

So Soarin’ looked around the headquarters a bit more. He made it through at least half of the headquarters before actually finding her. When she saw her he immediately proceeded to ask her if something is wrong. But as soon as he called for Rainbow Dash she proceeded to non-stealthily head out of the room.

Soarin’ was shocked at that, but he gave her one last benefit of the doubt. There might have been a reason why she suddenly ran out of the room like that. Soarin’ was probably thinking too positive to himself, but he figured after knowing Rainbow Dash all these years there must have been some reason for that.

So after a bit more searching he once again caught up to Rainbow Dash, and this time because he snuck up to her, she didn’t run away. So he actually got to talk to her. “Rainbow Dash, is there something wrong?” Soarin’ asked.

“Uhh…no,” Rainbow Dash said nervously. “Nothing is wrong at all.”

“Rainbow Dash, what are you hiding from me?” Soarin’ asked, trying to be somewhat confrontational.

“I’m not hiding anything,” Rainbow Dash said. “Nothing at all.” Rainbow Dash’s eyes darted everywhere instead of at Soarin’. “Uhh…I got to go Soarin’. I uhh…think somepony is calling for me. See ya later.” Rainbow Dash proceeded to dash out of there once again leaving Soarin’ alone.

Ok so she is avoiding me, Soarin’ thought, coming to the inevitable conclusion. But why is she avoiding me? Is there something I did to cause her to want to avoid me? I did snap at her, but I apologized afterwards. But maybe she took it badly. She might be afraid to tell me about what happened at the doctor’s office. But what could have happened there?

Soarin’ stopped cold at a thought that crossed his mind. Could Rainbow Dash have gotten some illness that prevents her from being in the Wonderbolts. Or something else bad happened at the doctor’s office that she doesn’t want me to know about. Maybe it’s something worse than that. Could she…possibly have gotten some terminal illness and she could be dying sometime soon with no chance of recovering? I don’t know. But maybe Scootaloo heard something. I’ll try asking her about it.

So instead of following Rainbow Dash, Soarin’ decided to look for Scootaloo. It wasn’t really that hard to find her, he just looked for the place where the most noise was coming from. In this case, the mess hall which was living up to its name right now.

Scootaloo somehow managed to cause the destruction of so much dishes and food and was the attention of everypony in the room. She also managed to knock down a few chairs from their place causing them to lie down on random places in the floor. She was covered in several food and condiments making her mane almost look like Rainbow Dash’s probably to her amusement if it weren’t for how much trouble she is in.

“Scootaloo, what the hay…” Soarin’ was just about to ask but then he noticed Scootaloo’s blue scooter next to her and some tire marks on the floor. “You were riding your scooter in the headquarters again weren’t you?”

“Uhh…maybe?” Scootaloo said. Soarin’ just shook his head in unamusement.

One of the Wonderbolt chefs, a white pegasus with a light brown mane, went up to Soarin’ and said “Sir would you mind…?”

“Yeah I’ll help you clean up around here,” Soarin’ said. “Just give me a second to talk to Scootaloo first.”

“If you want to.”

“Hey Scoots,” Soarin’ said to Scootaloo as he walked up to her.

“Listen Soarin’, I’m sorry ok,” Scootaloo said. “Please don’t tell Rainbow Dash about this.”

Soarin’ sighed at Scootaloo being more worried about Rainbow Dash’s opinion on her then his. Because Rainbow Dash won the custody case for Scootaloo and Soarin’ married Rainbow Dash, Soarin’ is technically one of Scootaloo’s legal guardians. But while Scootaloo idolizes Rainbow Dash, she hasn’t really had time to bond with Soarin’. Soarin’ blames himself for the lack of time to bond with her.

“We can talk about this later,” Soarin’ said.

“Ok Soarin’,” Scootaloo said. “Uhh…So did you hear the good news? That pretty great right? Good enough to make you forget about what just happened in the mess hall?”

“Good news?” Soarin’ asked. He could have noticed Scootaloo’s attempt to distract Soarin’ from the mess she just made but he was more interested in the fact that there is apparently good news. Nothing today so far has been good news.

Scootaloo was surprised. “Wait she hasn…I mean, you weren’t told yet?” Scootaloo asked.

“Told what?” Soarin’ asked.

Scootaloo looked down for a few seconds, thinking. Soarin’ heard some mumbling from her mouth, but it wasn’t loud enough for Soarin to make anything from it. After she decided what she was going to say she lifted her head up and started talking.

“Well…uhh…I have to go,” Scootaloo said. She grabbed her scooter from her side. “I have a mess I need to clean up.”

“Wait,” Soarin’ called out to Scootaloo before she left. “Before you go, is anything off with Rainbow Dash today? Has she told you anything? She’s been avoiding me all day. ”

Scootaloo stopped and looked back. “Rainbow Dash has really been avoiding you?” Scootaloo asked.

“Yeah,” Soarin said. “And whenever I ask her about her visit to the doctor’s office she keeps changing the subject to something unrelated. I’m really worried about her right now.”

“Uhh Soarin’ I need to go right now,” Scootaloo said. “I’ll see you later.” Scootaloo then got on her scooter and started scooting away.

Soarin’ watched as Scootaloo went away, more confused than ever now. What is going on around here? First Rainbow Dash starts avoiding me and now Scootaloo knows about something that I don’t. I don’t get it. Well I guess if it’s anything, at least Scootaloo said there is good news. If it’s possible for any news to make this day any better. I’m starting to doubt there is.

Soarin’ sat down in a chair in the mess hall, wondering why today just keeps getting worse and worse. Then he remembered that he promised to help clean up Scootaloo’s mess so he went to do that. He hoped that it would maybe allow him to forget about what is happening today, but that was to no avail. No matter how hard he tried, he still kept deep within his heart exactly how bad that day was.

~

All I saw at that moment was that my family was avoiding me at all costs and trying to keep something from me. I wouldn’t be exaggerating to say that was one of the worst moments in my life. Flowing through my mind was all of the things that could possibly be wrong with Rainbow Dash and it was making me feel worse and worse at each passing second. I was flat out worried and combined with how sore I was feeling at that time it was not a good day for me.

The funniest thing about that moment is I was probably feeling the most down I have ever felt, and Scootaloo wasn’t wrong. It was very good news that she had for me, but I didn’t know that at the time. If I listened to Scootaloo better I would have made the connection that the ‘good news’ Scootaloo was talking about and whatever happened to Rainbow Dash. But I just let myself stay within my depressed thoughts and didn’t think of that possibility. There was something going on with the mare I loved more than anything else, and there was nothing I could do to figure out what was wrong.

Chapter 3

Scootaloo was walking across the cloud colored floors of the Wonderbolt H.Q. Scootaloo couldn’t understand why Rainbow Dash was avoiding telling Soarin’ about her foal since she was really happy about it when Scootaloo last saw her. So the first thing that she was going to do is find Rainbow Dash and ask her about it.

She didn’t find Rainbow Dash anywhere inside the Wonderbolt headquarters so instead she went to the field outside the Wonderbolt headquarters. While passing through she thought she saw somepony her age, but she was more focused on finding Rainbow Dash then whoever she happened to pass by. Besides she has never seen somepony her age in the Wonderbolt headquarters and she doubted she would randomly see one now.

While the inside of the Wonderbolt headquarters is an actual building and not a cloud, the outside is all cloud and besides certain areas all white. Because of its location of being higher than most other clouds the sky over the Wonderbolt headquarters is always blue even when there is a storm over Canterlot. This place is usually full of many different colored pegasi training their hardest for whatever performance is coming up next.

However at this point in time for some reason there was no pegasus to be seen anywhere outside. Scootaloo found that surprising since even at night there are always pegasi flying everywhere and training. But since there wasn’t any pegasi flying anywhere around that made it easier for Scootaloo to find Rainbow Dash. She was able to see a rainbow colored mane on the hoofball field so she immediately used her scooter to go there.

What is with the Wonderbolts anyways? Scootaloo thought while she was scooting up to Rainbow Dash. [They are usually practicing out here all the time. I’ve never seen then not be flying around here. Is there something going on here? Nah, probably not. It might just be the fact that I’m actually here today and not in Ponyville. I’m just seeing what happens during the time I’m not here.

When she got close enough she saw that Rainbow Dash was doing some wing stretches while looking around the field quickly to see if anypony was approaching her. When she saw Scootaloo she was surprised and her wings snapped out as if she was just about to take off, but as soon as she saw that it was Scootaloo she lowered her wings. She then walked up to meet Scootaloo.

“Hay Scoots, what’s going on?” Rainbow Dash asked. She was still looking around frantically to make sure that nopony is coming closer.

“Nothing much,” Scootaloo lied. “So have you told Soarin’ the good news yet?”

“Uhh…not yet Scootaloo,” Rainbow Dash said nervously. She actually gave Scootaloo her full attention now.

“Why not?” Scootaloo asked pressing further.

“Well it’s just…not the time yet,” Rainbow Dash said. “I’ll tell him eventually. I just want to make sure it’s the right time.”

“Well shouldn’t you tell them soon?” Scootaloo asked. “You said you wanted Soarin’ to be the first to know, but if you don’t tell Spitfire soon she won’t be able to adjust the training for you.”

“I-I’ll tell him eventually,” Rainbow Dash said. “Don’t worry about it Scoots. I just need to make sure it’s at the right time.”

“Are you sure you don’t want to tell him now? I’m sure Soarin’ would love to hear about this right now.” Scootaloo said this for emphasis, “I mean right now.”

“I will Scoots,” Rainbow Dash said. She looked overhead to see if anypony is there once again. “I’ll uhh…go and find him right now and tell him. If I can uhh…find him.”

Rainbow Dash walked towards the light blue Wonderbolt building. As she left Scootaloo thought, Rainbow Dash isn’t going to try and find him isn’t she? Come on Rainbow Dash, what is wrong? Why won’t you talk to Soarin’. You were so excited to tell Soarin’ about it before so why aren’t you as excited now?

I need some help. I need to find some way of getting Rainbow Dash to talk to Soarin’. But Soarin’ can’t help me, and Rainbow Dash won’t talk to him. I guess that just leaves one other pony to help me.

So Scootaloo scooted back into the Wonderbolt headquarters to try and find the only other pony she trusts. She stopped outside of the office and knocked on the door. From beyond the door a voice said “Come in.”

Scootaloo walked into Spitfire’s office and saw her looking at who just walked in. He had her hoof over a piece of paper and was still in the middle of stamping it when Scootaloo walked in. “Ahh…hey Scootaloo,” Spitfire said. She moved the paper to the side and walked away from her desk and in front of Scootaloo. “What do you need? This better not be about the mess you made in the mess hall. I’m not going to yell at you for it, but I do fully expect Soarin’ and Rainbow Dash to take responsibility for you. Including punishing you as they see fit. You should have known better than to be riding your scooter inside the hea…”

“No it doesn’t have anything to do with that,” Scootaloo interrupted. “Soarin’ is already taking responsibility for that. I need your help on something.”

“Oh, alright then Scootaloo,” Spitfire said. “What do you need help with?”

“Well I have a problem,” Scootaloo said. Ok Scootaloo, you just need to ask Spitfire without telling her what is wrong with Rainbow Dash. You just have to find some way around it. You can do this. “Rainbow Dash has some news for Soarin’ that she was really excited to tell him but for some reason she is avoiding him. And I think Soarin’ is hurt because of it. What should I do to help them?”

“What news does Rainbow Dash have for him?” Spitfire asked. “Does this have anything to do with Rainbow Dash’s trip to the doctor?”

Dang it! I was hoping she wouldn’t ask! Great, now I need to find some way around it. “It might but I…I can’t tell you,” Scootaloo said. “Rainbow Dash told me to keep it a secret for now. I’m not going to break Rainbow Dash’s trust by telling you. Can you help me without me telling you about it?”

Spitfire looked at Scootaloo for a few moments. She had a pondering face on her as she looked at Scootaloo. “Hmm…ok then. Do you think you can get those two to somehow talk?”

“I don’t know,” Scootaloo said. “Rainbow Dash has been avoiding Soarin’ and I don’t think she is going to talk easily. I don’t know what I should do. Should I just let then sort it out themselves?”

“Trust me Scootaloo, you don’t want the two not to talk about it,” Spitfire said. “So even though I am probably going to regret telling you this, you should find any way possible of getting the two of them to talk. Do whatever it takes Scootaloo.”

“But what should I do?” Scootaloo asked.

“Anything you can Scootaloo,” Spitfire said. “You’re a creative kid. I’m sure you can think of some way of getting them to talk it out. I’ve heard plenty from Rainbow Dash about your time as a Cutie Mark Crusader and how you would do the strangest and most creative things to get your Cutie Mark. If you managed to do all that then I’m sure you will be able to think of some way to get Rainbow Dash to tell Soarin’ tha...what she needs to tell him.”

“I’ll do my best!” Scootaloo said before exiting the office.

As soon as Scootaloo left Spitfire got back to doing her usual duties. Yet while doing them, she said to herself, “So I guess that confirms it then. Rainbow Dash is pregnant and is hiding it from Soarin’. She must be. I can’t think of any other good news that she would want to give to Soarin’ and would suddenly be hiding it.” Spitfire shuttered at some of her memories. “This isn’t good.”

She looked over at the door that Scootaloo just walked out of. “I really hope you succeed at getting those two to talk about it Scootaloo. I would hate to see Rainbow Dash and Soarin’ make the same mistakes I made when I was pregnant with you.”

Outside of the office Scootaloo was planning exactly how she was going to get Rainbow Dash and Soarin’ together. While she was plotting, it sort of reminded her of back when Applebloom, Sweetie Bell and her tried to get Cheerlie and Big Macintosh together. While it didn’t exactly work to get them together as a couple, they did manage to get them in the same place. So all Scootaloo thought she needed to do was get the two together.

But of course the problem is Scootaloo has no clue were Rainbow Dash is at the time. And Scootaloo isn’t able to ride her scooter around the place anymore unless she wasn’t to be chewed out by somepony. That and she was getting tired from riding it. It was easier than walking around the place, but it still takes some work from her wings in order to move it around.

So because of that Scootaloo decided to make the first place she checks be Rainbow Dash’s room so that she could also drop off her scooter there. She didn’t really figure she would find Rainbow Dash there if she is avoiding Soarin’, and as she figured when she passed the blue door with an engraving of Rainbow Dash and Soarin’s cutie marks on the top of it there nothing except for the two Wonderbolt uniforms to the left of the room, the one belonging to Soarin’ on the floor and the one belonging to Rainbow Dash hung up, the bed in the middle of the room, and the drawer for the formal wear in the right side of the room.

“Should have figured just about as much,” Scootaloo said. “If Rainbow Dash is avoiding Soarin’ then she wouldn’t hide in her room. Well, I guess I need to look in a different place.”

Scootaloo placed her scooter and helmet inside the room and then left it. She then went off along the hallway thinking about what she is going to do next. Of course because Scootaloo was thinking about what she could do to help Rainbow Dash out she wasn’t paying attention to where she was walking. She was just walking wherever on instinct and without any structure in her walk and not really paying attention to the Wonderbolts passing by.

This is going too slow, Scootaloo thought. I won’t get even close to finding Rainbow Dash at this rate. Without my scooter I’m going too slow and this building is too large. I still need some help, but Spitfire is probably too busy to help me and even if I get Soarin’ to help me he hasn’t had any luck with Rainbow Dash anyways. I want to be there when those two get together to help push Rainbow Dash to tell him. But it will take forever for me to find Rainbow Dash at this rate. What do I do now?

Scootaloo was still walking without paying attention when she suddenly collided into somepony. The collision was painful enough to closer her eyes and knocks her back a bit. She got back up after a few seconds and started rubbing her forehead with her right forehoof with her eyes still closed so she still couldn’t see who or what knocked into her.

Ow! Ok, now I wish I brought my helmet with me even though I’m not on my scooter. Then this wouldn’t hurt as much.

While she was still rubbing her forehead she heard a somewhat familiar voice say to her, “Watch where you’re going will you?”

“Well sorry,” Scootaloo said in an annoyed voice. “I have a lot to think about right now.”

“Wait that voice…Scootaloo?” the voice asked. Scootaloo finally stopped rubbing her forehead and opened her eyes to see a light gray pegasus colt with a dark gray mane.

“Rumble?!”

“Rumble?!” Scootaloo asked out of surprise.

“Yeah it’s me,” Rumble said. “It’s been a while Scootaloo.”

“What are you doing here?” Scootaloo asked. “Shouldn’t you be in Ponyville?” Scootaloo knows Rumble from back there. Rumble was the first colt to officially join the Cutie Mark Crusaders and they both got to be pretty good friends. But after Scootaloo got her cutie mark just a few months after Rumble joined they didn’t manage to talk much as much as they used to. It also didn’t help that they have different classes at school.

“Well normally yeah, but ever since my brother made it into the Wonderbolts I’ve wanted him to show me around the place,” Rumble explained. “And since I’m finally off from school today and practices ended early for some reason today Thunderlane decided to show me around today.”

“So then where is Thunderlane now?” Scootaloo asked. She and Rumble were the only two ponies in this hallway.

“In the mess hall trying to talk to some mares,” Rumble said. “He’s been in there since I got here so I decided to look around the place on my own. Unfortunately I…kinda got lost.” Rumble gave a small chuckle thinking he probably sounded like a dork right now. “What about you Scootaloo?” Rumble asked. “Are you lost too?”

Scootaloo actually realized that while she isn’t ‘lost’ right now she wasn’t sure what part of the Wonderbolt headquarters she was in. She looked at the different doors of the Wonderbolts to help her figure out exactly where she was. The doors told her she was in the east wing of the headquarters.

“No I’m not lost,” Scootaloo said. She pointed to the doors on the right side of the room. “You see those doors?”

“Uhh yeah, what about them?” Rumble asked.

“Well those doors always have the Cutie Marks of whoever lives there on top of them,” Scootaloo said. “So if I’m lost I’ll usually just look on top of the doors to see where I am. It’s kind of useful when I want to go somewhere in here or am wandering randomly. If you look at those doors you can see Wave Chill’s Cutie Mark over one door and Fire Streak’s Cutie Mark over the other door. That means we’re in the East Wing.”

“Wow, you sure know a lot about this place,” Rumble said. He then mumbled “Why couldn’t Thunderlane tell me this when he brought me? Aw well, I guess he just forgot.”

“Thanks,” Scootaloo said.

“Would you mind…bringing me back to the mess hall?” Rumble asked. “I’d try and find it on my own but I don’t know which Wonderbolt lives whe…wait, if you know where each of the Wonderbolts live then do you know where Thunderlane’s room is?”

“Yeah, I know where it is. I just passed his room a few minutes ago,” Scootaloo said.

“So can you show me where it is?” Rumble asked.

“I thought you just wanted to go to the mess hall,” Scootaloo pointed out.

“Well yeah, but I’d also like to see my big brother’s room,” Rumble said.

“Well I’m busy right now!” Scootaloo said.

“You’re busy?” Rumble asked. “With what?”

“I need to find Rainbow Dash and get her and Soarin’ to talk,” Scootaloo said. “I’ll quickly show you to the mess hall, but that’s it.” Scootaloo started in the direction of the mess hall, but Rumble did not walk with her at first. Scootaloo stopped and looked back at him and said “Well come on!”

“Why do you need to get Soarin’ and Rainbow Dash to talk?” Rumble asked.

“I can’t tell you,” Scootaloo said. “All I can say is its important.”

“Well I just saw Rainbow Dash a few minutes ago,” Rumble said, “so I can show you where she is.”

“You can?” Scootaloo asked. “Where is she?”

“Follow me and I’ll show you,” Rumble said. He stared walking in the direction Scootaloo was just walking in, which was where Rumble came from. This time Scootaloo was staying still causing Rumble to look back. “What is it?” Rumble asked.

“Why do you want to help me?” Scootaloo asked.

“Because I want to help,” Rumble said. “Besides, it’s been a while since we’ve hung out together. Don’t worry, you’ll owe me one for this later, but for now we should probably go find Rainbow Dash before she leaves. She didn’t look like she was going to stay there for long.”

“Alright then let’s go,” Scootaloo said as she started running. Rumble got the clue and started running along with her.

While they were running Scootaloo said, “by the way, sorry I haven’t been hanging out with you lately.”

“Why haven’t you?” Rumble asked.

“Well after I graduated from the Cutie Mark Crusaders I was spending the time I wasn’t hanging out with Sweetie Bell and Apple Bloom training with Rainbow Dash,” Scootaloo explained. “I can actually fly now thanks to her. So I guess I really didn’t have the time to spend with you. Sorry about that dude.”

“It’s alright Scootaloo,” Rumble said. They reached an area where they were forced to go left or right and Rumble said, “Take a right here.”

Scootaloo stopped and asked “Why?”

“Rainbow Dash is in the observatory upstairs,” Rumble explained as he looked back at Scootaloo. “And if I remember right the staircase to the observatory is to the right.”

“Well yeah there is one,” Scootaloo said, “but the observatory is at the center of the building. If we take a left here I can show you a trapdoor that we can fly through to get closer to the observatory then if we were to take a right here.”

“Really?” Rumble asked. “How do you know all of this? I never thought you would try and memorize something like where the observatory is.”

“Well this place isn’t that difficult to figure out,” Scootaloo said. “The center of this building is where all the stuff like that is. You can find the male Wonderbolts’ rooms in the east wing and the female Wonderbolts’ rooms in the west wing. Spitfire’s office is in the center and any married Wonderbolt couples like Rainbow Dash and Soarin’ have their room in the south.”

“Ok, so if I’m ever lost and want to find Thunderlane’s room then I should look in the east wing,” Rumble said.

“Pretty much,” Scootaloo said. “And if you ever want to find the mess hall or one of the lounges then you just need to find the center of the building.”

“Ok, good to know,” Rumble said. “Rainbow Dash really told you a lot about this place.”

“Yeah Rainbow Dash told me,” Scootaloo said. “Don’t think I’m an egghead or anything. I just…it’s not difficult to memorize and I don’t want to get lost around this place.”

“I get it Scootaloo,” Rumble said. “We should get going.”

“Yeah right,” Scootaloo said as she started leading the way again.

Scootaloo went to the left and Rumble followed behind her. After a few yards of walking Scootaloo looked up and extended her wings. She jumped up and slammed into a trap door opening it up. Rumble opened up his wings and also followed suit, only he didn’t actually have to open the trapdoor himself. Once they got up there Scootaloo showed Rumble to the nearest staircase which lead up to the observatory.

The observatory is in the top of the headquarters and has no celling or walls. It is completely open to the outside which makes it nice for any of the pegasi that wants to be stargazing. But that is not the only thing it is useful for. Many Wonderbolts will use the observatory as a high lift off point if they want to. It is the highest point in all of Equestria.

Rainbow Dash was once again alone in the observatory, staring off into the late afternoon sky. Scootaloo did find that somewhat surprising, but not as surprising as her being alone outside. Most Wonderbolts are up here for all of five seconds during the day, using it to launch themselves high in the sky.

Scootaloo walked up to Rainbow Dash and said, “Hay Rainbow Dash. I kinda have a problem.”

Rainbow Dash yelled when Scootaloo suddenly talked to her, but after looking to see it was Scootaloo she calmed down. Though she did pass a long glance at Rumble she decided to give her full attention to Scootaloo. “What do you need Scoots?” Rainbow Dash asked.

I didn’t want Rainbow Dash to know about this, but I have to tell her to get her to where Soarin’ is, Scootaloo thought. “Well you see Rainbow Dash I…kinda made a mess in the mess hall,” Scootaloo said. “I was sort of riding my scooter around and crashed into a few things.”

“That was you?!” Rumble asked. “I should have figured that those tire tracks belonged to you. But I didn’t think you actually brought your scooter with you here. If you made that mess then why is Soarin’ cleaning it up?”

Scootaloo gave Rumble an angry look, but it was too late. “It sounds like Soarin’ already has that taken care of squirt,” Rainbow Dash said. “Make sure to thank him for doing that for me.”

“I’ll go do that,” Scootaloo said in an annoyed voice. “Come on Rumble.”

As soon as they were out of Rainbow Dash’s hearing range Scootaloo said to Rumble, “Thanks! I was so close to getting Rainbow Dash to go to the mess hall. Well there goes that plan.”

“Well I don’t know what you’re planning anyways,” Rumble said. “I’m not even sure what is going on around here.”

“Rainbow Dash is avoiding Soarin’ for some reason,” Scootaloo said. “So I’m trying to get them together to talk about it. In order to do that I’m getting them in the same place and then am going to try and push Rainbow Dash into telling Soarin’.”

“And why don’t you tell him?” Rumble asked.

“Because Rainbow Dash wants to be the one to tell him,” Scootaloo said.

“Alright, but if Rainbow Dash keeps avoiding Soarin’ then what makes you so sure she isn’t going to run away as soon as you get them together anyways?” Rumble asked.

“I…don’t know,” Scootaloo said. “But I have to try something. Soarin’s in a bad mood right now because of this and it’s going to get worse if they don’t talk about it.”

“Well I wish I could help you,” Rumble said, “but I have no idea what you should do either. I wish I knew what my brother would do about this.”

“Your brother…wait that’s it!” Scootaloo exclaimed. “Rumble can you get your brother for me?”

“Well…I guess I can,” Rumble said. “But why?”

“I’ve got an idea,” Scootaloo said. “I’ll explain on the way back to the mess hall! Come on, let’s go!” Scootaloo started walking off.

Rumble was still confused, but he decided to follow Scootaloo to where Thunderlane was anyways. “Ok then…” Rumble said. He started walking with Scootaloo “What do you need Thunderlane for anyways?”

“Thunderlane should be strong enough to block Rainbow Dash and prevent her from leaving if we get the two of them in a hallway,” Scootaloo said. “So we just need to find some way of getting Rainbow Dash and Soarin’ in a hallway and have Thunderlane block Rainbow Dash from leaving. We don’t need to block Soarin’ since he wants to talk to Rainbow Dash anyways.”

“Well it looks like your plans are still as crazy as they were before,” Rumble said. “You know you still owe me one for this right?”

“Yeah yeah, we’ll worry about that later,” Scootaloo said. “Let’s get Thunderlane now.”

So Scootaloo and Rumble made their way to the mess hall. Once they got there, they both made a beeline for Thunderlane while trying to avoid getting spotted by Soarin’. They both ducked under tables and behind chairs even though Soarin’ wasn’t really paying attention to them and probably wouldn’t have noticed what they were doing anyways. They eventually reached Thunderlane who was trying and failing at chatting up with one of the Wonderbolt Mares.

Rumble used his hoof to poke Thunderlane and get his attention. “Excuse me for a moment,” Thunderlane said to the mare he was talking with before he went down to Rumble and asked, “What do you need Rumble? I’m trying to talk to a mare here.”

“We need your help,” Rumble told Thunderlane.

“Can this wait?” Thunderlane asked as he poked his head back above the table to see what the mare he was talking to was doing. But when he poked his head up, she was already gone. Thunderlane groaned and poked his head back down. “Fine, what do you need?”

Scootaloo explained to Thunderlane exactly what was happening with Rainbow Dash and Soarin’.

“So you need me to block her from running away huh?” Thunderlane asked. “Well, since Rainbow Dash did help me get into the Wonderbolts in the first place, I think I can do that for her. So sure, I’ll help you.”

~

I’ll admit, Rumble came here at a pretty good time. I guess it’s a pretty good thing that we were off school and Thunderlane brought Rumble here. Without him here I probably would have never managed to get Rainbow Dash and Soarin’ to talk to each other. I wouldn’t have gotten Thunderlane’s help because I’ve never really talked to Thunderlane. But luckily even though he did stop one of my plans, Rumble came through for me.

“All right, are you ready?” Scootaloo asked Thunderlane.

“Yeah, so I just stand here until Rainbow Dash comes past this hallway, and then I jump out and prevent her from leaving right?” Thunderlane asked for confirmation. He was standing in a crossroads out of the way of where Scootaloo plans to bring Rainbow Dash in.

“Yeah exactly,” Scootaloo said. “And make sure that Rainbow Dash doesn’t leave until she and Soarin’ talk!”

“So how do you exactly plan on getting them here anyways?” Thunderlane asked.

“Don’t worry about that,” Scootaloo said. “Me and Rumble have that all taken care of.”

Thunderlane rolled his eyes. So far Scootaloo hasn’t told him anything about what Soarin’ and Rainbow Dash were fighting about. And if she has accidently left hints about what is happening between them, Thunderlane wasn’t able to pick up on them. So Thunderlane has been virtually left in the dark with no clue of what is happening or how serious it is.

He would be complaining about him being in the dark, but for now he didn’t care about that. Rainbow Dash gave him a few hints on how to train harder and become a Wonderbolt, so if it wasn’t for her, Thunderlane doubt he would even be in this position right now. This is the least he could do to help pay Rainbow Dash back.

“Well if you have everything done here then go get them,” Thunderlane said. “I’m not waiting here forever.”

“Right,” Scootaloo said.

Scootaloo then went halfway across the Wonderbolt H.Q to see how Rumble is doing with his side of the plan. It took Scootaloo a bit to find where Rumble is because of what she specifically asked him to do. But she eventually did, and made sure to see how he was doing.

“So Rumble, did you find Rainbow Dash yet?” Scootaloo asked him.

“Yeah,” Rumble said. “Rainbow Dash went from the observatory to the hiding out in the training room. And it’s working because she is the only one there.”

“Why would she be the only one there?” Scootaloo asked. “Usually it’s impossible to do anything in there with how many ponies use it. Heck I’ve been wondering that for a while now. There seems to be no Wonderbolts in anyplace I usually see them.”

“Well according to my brother, everypony was trying out a new trick today and it didn’t work out too well,” Rumble explained. “So pretty much everypony is sore and not in the mood to train. Even my brother is staying as far from the training room as possible.”

“I guess I missed a lot from leaving out of boredom during practice,” Scootaloo said. That might explain what is wrong with Soarin’.

“You actually get to watch the practices?” Rumble asked. He was really impressed that they let Scootaloo watch them practice.

“A few,” Scootaloo said. “I’m usually at school when their practicing, but when I have the day off of school I can watch the practices here if I want to.”

“Why do they let you watch the practices anyways?” Rumble asked. “I mean I’m related to Thunderlane and I haven’t been able to watch any of the Wonderbolt practices yet? So what connections do you have?”

“Well actually, Rainbow Dash won a custody case for me a while back,” Scootaloo explained. “So technically, Rainbow Dash and Soarin’ are my legal guardians or something like that. I don’t know the exact specifics, but they are both in charge of raising me. And since they both spend their weeks practicing here I’m around here as well. So when I’m off school, they let me watch practices.”

“Oh wow,” Rumble said. He gave Scootaloo an impressed expression. “That’s…pretty cool. I didn’t know you actually lived here. I just thought Rainbow Dash was bringing you here like Thunderlane did for me.”

In a bragging manner, Scootaloo said, “Those two are pretty awesome aren’t they? They really worked hard to get me out of the home I used to be in, with parents that didn’t care about me. And as a bonus, I get to hang around here. It’s pretty cool.”

“Yeah I guess,” Rumble said. “You’re pretty lucky Scootaloo.”

“Thanks,” Scootaloo said.

“So how about you try and get Rainbow Dash over to the target spot?” Rumble asked. “While I’ll go down to the mess hall and get Soarin’.”

“Sounds like a plan dude,” Scootaloo said. “Just remember, if it involves pie, Soarin’ will go for it. Use that to your advantage.”

“It’s just like old time huh?” Rumble said.

“Yeah, this reminds me of back when we were crusading, trying to find out cutie marks,” Scootaloo said. “We used to do stuff like this all the time. But let’s hope this works better than our usual cutie mark attempts.”

“Yeah. Well, I’ll see you in a bit.”

“See ya.”

Rumble left to go get Soarin’ while Scootaloo went in the other direction to get Rainbow Dash. As Rumble said there was, when Scootaloo opened the door there was absolutely nopony there except for one that left off a rainbow colored flash as she hid behind one of the machines. Scootaloo decided to feign ignorance on Rainbow Dash’s situation in hopes that she wouldn’t become suspicious of Scootaloo and not follow her.

So she walked up to where Rainbow Dash was hiding and said, “Hey Rainbow Dash! What are you hiding from?”

“Oh Scootaloo, it’s just you,” Rainbow Dash said as she climbed out of her hiding spot. “I’m not really hiding from anything. I’m just, you know, hanging out and stuff. Was thinking about maybe doing a bit of training her, but decided not to because I need to be careful for the foal. So now I’m just leaving.” One of the similarities Scootaloo noticed Rainbow Dash has with all her friends is that they are all terrible liars.

“Oh, well if you’re leaving then would you mind coming with me?” Scootaloo asked. “I have something I need to show you.”

“Uhh…sure I guess,” Rainbow Dash said. “Let’s just…be a little careful on the way.”

“Why?” Scootaloo asked.

“Uhh…no reason,” Rainbow Dash lied. “Just want to uhh…avoid bumping into anypony accidently. Yeah that’s it.”

“Ok let’s go!” Scootaloo said.

~

Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash passed by the specific hallway causing Thunderlane to step out into the hallway. Rainbow Dash didn’t notice him, or if she did she didn’t react, and she continued walking with Scootaloo right to the target spot. They both stopped in the middle of the hallway.

“So what do you want me to see around here?” Rainbow Dash asked while looking around.

“Just a second,” Scootaloo said. “It’ll come soon.”

“What will come soon?” Rainbow Dash asked.

As she asked that Rumble and Soarin’ came walking along. It took Rainbow Dash a few seconds, but when she did she looked nervous. Rumble moved next to Scootaloo, and Soarin’ went up to Rainbow Dash to finally confront her.

“Dash,” Soarin’ said.

“Uhh…hey Soarin’,” Rainbow Dash said while she was trying to back away. “How’s it going?” She backed up a bit more and ran into Thunderlane, just as Scootaloo planned. She tried to go past him, but Thunderlane blocked every move she tried to make. She was trapped, because she wasn’t really able to make it look discreet, or at least any more discreet then she was already looking.

“Rainbow Dash we need to talk,” Soarin’ said, making sure it is known that he is serious.

“There is nothing that we need to talk about,” Rainbow Dash said while she was obviously thinking of a way out.

“Oh come on!” Scootaloo called out in frustration. “Will you talk already?!”

Rainbow Dash and Soarin' both looked at Scootaloo before looking back at each other. Rainbow Dash was looking really nervous, yet she still didn’t say anything. Soarin’ was trying to think of a way to get Rainbow Dash to talk, since she isn’t going anywhere with Thunderlane behind her, preventing her from leaving.

“Rainbow Dash you can’t keep leaving me in the dark like this,” Soarin’ said. “I may not be in the best of moods right now, and you haven’t exactly helped me with that, but I will support you with whatever is happening. I told you when you were worried whether you would get in the Wonderbolts or not, that I would stick with you no matter what happens. I may not be the Element of Loyalty, but I’m still going to be loyal to you no matter what.”

Rainbow Dash sighed. “I wanted to tell you in a better situation than this,” she said.

“You can’t exactly say the situation I proposed to you is better than this one right here,” Soarin’ reminded you.

“Yeah, but if Spitfire didn’t push you, you probably wouldn’t have,” Rainbow Dash said with a small laugh. “Fine.” She looked back at Thunderlane. “Would you and your brother mind leaving? This is between just me, Soarin’, and Scootaloo. Don’t worry, I’m not going to run away.”

Thunderlane and Rumble both nodded and walked off in Thunderlane’s direction. “Ok then,” Rainbow Dash said. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes before continuing. “Soarin’, I’m going to have a foal.”

There was silence for a moment causing Rainbow Dash to open her eyes. She saw Soarin’ completely shocked, with his mouth hanging open. He tilted his head over and moved his eyes towards Rainbow Dash’s stomach.

“No I’m not showing yet you jerk!” Rainbow Dash said.

Soarin’ looked back in Rainbow Dash’s eyes. His mouth hung open for a bit more before he closed it back up. The next thing that happened with his mouth is a huge smile appeared on it. It was the largest Soarin’ smiled since their wedding together.

“Dashie, why didn’t you tell me this earlier?” Soarin’ asked. “This is great news!”

“So…you ok with it?” Rainbow Dash asked.

“Of course I’m ok with it Dashie!” Soarin’ said. “Why in the world wouldn’t I be? I’ve told you before that I want a foal for myself. I would be more worried about you not being ok with it. You’ve never told me whether you thought you were ready to have a foal yet.”

“Ehh…I’m fine,” Rainbow Dash said. “Yeah, I’m still not one hundred percent sure that I’m ready yet, but I ready to try. It might be a bit difficult, but at least I know I’ll have plenty of help. And besides, it’s not like I’m given much of a choice right now either. And hey, I’m sure it’s going to be a pretty awesome foal.”

“Of course it is,” Soarin’ said, “after all, you’re it’s mother.”

“Ok, that’s enough,” Scootaloo said. “I’m out of here before you two to get too lovey dubey in front of me.” Scootaloo rolled her eyes and walked off. She next went to where Thunderlane and Rumble were waiting.

“Looks like the plan worked,” Scootaloo told them, “so thanks you two.”

“Remember, you still owe me one,” Rumble said.

“Well if she does you two will have to work that out back at Ponyville,” Thunderlane said. “I think it’s about time I get you back home Rumble.”

“This weekend,” Scootaloo said. “We’ll meet up this weekend and I’ll see what I can do to pay you back.”

“Ok, see you then Scootaloo,” Rumble said as he and Thunderlane went for the exit.

“So everything worked out huh?” asked a voice from behind Scootaloo. Scootaloo turned around to see Spitfire walking up from behind her.

“Yeah,” Scootaloo said. “Oh yeah by the way. Rainbow Dash probably should be the one to tell you this but…”

“Rainbow Dash is going to have a foal, yeah I already know,” Spitfire said. “I figured that would be the only thing she wouldn’t tell Soarin’ that would make sense from this morning.”

“Well I still don’t get one thing,” Scootaloo said. “Why didn’t she tell Soarin’ right away?”

“It’s something that is normal for when a mare is carrying a foal,” Spitfire explained. “They tend to worry more about the wellbeing of foal and will sometimes put off telling the stallion about it if they are worried about them taking it badly. Though it is a good thing you got them to talk, because this is not something you want her to put off.”

“Have you seen something like this happen before?” Scootaloo asked.

“Yeah,” Spitfire admitted as she looked up thoughtfully. “I’ve seen it a bit more then I like.” Spitfire looked back at Scootaloo. “So good job helping them out Scootaloo. You’re growing into a pretty good kid.”

“Uhh, thanks I guess,” Scootaloo said.

So yeah, I finally managed to tell Soarin’ thanks to those kids and everything worked out alright. I could talk about what happened after that while I was pregnant but…well I did a few things that are even more embarrassing then that. So I think I’ll leave that out for now. Maybe if you’re lucky you can get Soarin’ to tell you a few things about that. Instead I might as well go to well…the birth of my foal.

~

A long time later Rainbow Dash and Soarin’ were sleeping together in their cloud home in Ponyville for the weekend. The moon was nearly down and it was close to the time for Celestia to raise the sun. Both of them were sleeping soundly, until Rainbow Dash woke up with a start. She immediately started poking Soarin’ in an attempt to wake him up. “Hey Soarin’,” Rainbow Dash said while poking him. “Wake up.”

But she got no response.

So she poked a bit harder. She still got no response from him. Rainbow Dash, never the patient one especially with what is happening now, decided to give Soarin’ a strong kick and see if that wakes him up. Soarin’ then awoke with a yell from the kick and looked at Rainbow Dash.

“What?” he asked her.

“Well let’s see Soarin’,” Rainbow Dash said. “”I’m a pregnant mare who was told by the doctor that she was due any day now. And I’m awake in the middle of the night and woke you up. So how many possible things could I possibly want? It’s time Soarin’!”

“Time?!” Soarin’ said. If he wasn’t awake before he certainly looked like it now. “Ok, what do we do?!” Or…maybe not.

Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes. “What do you think?! Help me get to a hospital now! And don’t panic. If anything, I should be the one panicking!”

“Right,” Soarin’ said. “Let’s go.”

“Not yet,” Rainbow Dash said. “You need to tell Scootaloo first. And make sure she tells everypony else. And make it quick!”

“On it,” Soarin’ said as he ran through the cloud home to Scootaloo’s room. He as quickly as he could, woke Scootaloo up.

“Ugg…Soarin’?” Scootaloo said. “What’s up? It’s the middle of the night.”

“The foal is on the way,” Soarin’ said quickly. “I’m going to take Rainbow Dash to the hospital as fast as I can. Can you try and wake Twilight up and have her send a letter to Spitfire telling her?”

“Soarin’ it’s the middle of the night,” Scootaloo said again. “Even I don’t want to be up. What makes you think Twilight will be happy waking up?”

“Well considering that Twilight, and everypony really, were really excited to hear about the foal I don’t think Twilight will mind,” Soarin’ said. “I’m sure she’d be happy to wake up hearing one of her friends is about to have a foal.”

“Soarin’! Hurry up!” Rainbow Dash called out.

“I have to go,” Soarin’ said. “After Twilight sends the message, have her take you to the hospital. See ya later Scootaloo.” Soarin’ ran out of Scootaloo’s room and went back to Rainbow Dash.

Scootaloo yawned and sleepily got up. Having no sense of urgency whatsoever, Scootaloo went to the bathroom first to brush her bedmane and splash some rainwater on her face to help wake her up. It was at that point in time when she grabbed her scooter and then went outside to get Twilight.

As Scootaloo walked out of the cloud house she felt a cool summer morning air all over her. She looked down to see the cloud steps that Rainbow Dash could use to get in and out of her house while she can’t fly. Instead of taking them, Scootaloo hovered down holding her scooter and when she got her scooter to touch the ground she got on it and used the inertia to push her scooter forward.

Because it was early in the morning there was nopony on the streets Scootaloo was able to go really fast on her scooter with no worries at all. So she was able to reach the library really quickly going the speed she was going. As soon as she reached in front of the library she used her wings to help stop her scooter.

She looked up at the library thinking of how she was going to get in there when she noticed a light on in the bedroom. So it was possible that Twilight was still awake and Scootaloo decided to just try knocking on the front door. So she did so and a few moments later Twilight opened the door. Twilight also had her mane unbrushed and she also looked tired.

“Hey Scootaloo,” Twilight said. “What are you doing here so early in the morning?”

“What are you doing up so early in the morning?” Scootaloo asked. “I never thought you were a morning pony.”

Twilight yawned. “I had a project I have to work on,” Twilight explained, “so I woke up early today to get some work on it. Back to you. What are you doing here?”

“Rainbow Dash’s foal is coming!” Scootaloo announced.

“Rainbow Dash’s…foal?” Twilight asked. She started smiling. “It’s happening now?! Oh, great I have to tell everybody! The princesses, Applejack, Fluttershy, Rarity, Pinkie Pie will want to throw another party.” Twilight looked up towards her bedroom. “Spike!” she called out.

“Soarin’ also wants you to get Spike to send a letter to Spitfire telling her about it,” Scootaloo said.

“Right,” Twilight said as Spike came down the steps, looking even more tired than Scootaloo and Twilight.

“Ugg…what time is it?” Spike asked.

“It’s early in the morning,” Twilight said. “Spike, I need you to take a few letters.”

“Can’t this wait?” Spike asked, “Until you know, when the sun is actually up?”

“No, Rainbow Dash is having a foal right now!” Twilight said. “I need you to tell this to both Princess Celestia and Princess Luna, and tell Spitfire! Get ready those letters, because we need to tell them now!”

“Yeah yeah yeah, I’m on it,” Spike said. He got a pen and some ink from the table in the middle of the library and started writing the letters. As soon as he got done with all three of the letters he used his fire breath to send the letters to their receivers one by one. “There you go,” Spike said. “Can I go back to sleep now?”

“Don’t you want to see the new foal?” Twilight asked.

“I can see it in the morning,” Spike said. “I’m not going to rush to see it.”

“Fine,” Twilight said, “you can go back to sleep if you want to. But I know everypony else is going to be going to the hospital as soon as I tell them. So you’re going to be missing out.”

“I’ll sleep at night,” Spike said. “Or rather, I’ll sleep now. See you later.” Spike walked back up the stairs to go back to sleep.

“Well looks like he is going to miss it,” Twilight said. “Come on Scootaloo. I’ll take you to the hospital while I’m on my way to tell everypony else.”

“Ok Twilight.”

~

Scootaloo was sitting outside of the waiting room in the hospital. She was at first alone in the waiting, but as Twilight spread the news more and more ponies came in. The first to come into the hospital was Pinkie Pie, who made sure that as soon as she went through the door everypony else knew she was in.

“Ohmygosh! Rainbow Dash is having her foal right now!” Pinkie Pie announced in her loudest voice possible. “I can’t wait to see the new foal! Is it here yet is it here yet is it here yet?!”

“Keep it down please darling.” Rarity was the next to come in; right in the middle of Pinkie Pie’s loud talking. “There are more patients in here than just Rainbow Dash. And they all are probably trying to sleep.”

Next came in Applejack and Fluttershy at the same time with Twilight following close behind. “We all heard what’s happenin’,” Applejack said. “Is there any word on how they’all are doin’?”

“We haven’t been here longer then you have darling,” Rarity said. “So we don’t know anything about what is happening yet either.”

“I don’t know anything,” Scootaloo said. “Nurse Redheart has told me that it hasn’t happened yet, but I don’t know anything else.”

“Oh well I’m sure she will be just fine,” Fluttershy said. “And soon we will see a beautiful new foal.”

“And just in time too,” Applejack said. “Ya’all and Pinkie are both expectin in a few months as well.”

Spitfire was the next to come in. “Hey everypony,” Spitfire said. “How is Rainbow Dash doing right now?”

“We haven’t been told anything yet,” Twilight said. “The only thing we know is that it hasn’t happened yet. So I guess for now we need to wait for a while before finding out anything else.”

“So is anybody else coming?” Spitfire asked.

“I sent a letter to Princess Celestia and Princess Luna telling them about it,” Twilight explained. “I don’t know whether they are going to come or not, but I have notified them in case they want to come.”

At that point in time Spike came in holding a letter. Unlike everybody else who were all pretty much awake, Spike was still looking like he was half-asleep. He walked up to Twilight and handed her a letter and then went on one of the chairs to sit down and sleep.

Twilight read the letter out loud. “Dear Twilight Sparkle: We are joyful that Rainbow Dash is finally having her first child. We would love join you all in the hospital, however the appearance of royalty would most likely take the focus away from Rainbow Dash’s child and we would not want that to happen. We will see the child, however we will do that sometime later when we our presence will not take away too much from the new foal born. Until then. Princess Celestia.”

“Well I guess that answers that,” Spitfire said.

“Umm…Spitfire,” Fluttershy said. “If…I can just ask…well…wouldn’t the same thing happen with you being here? You are the captain of Wonderbolt after all.”

“I think the birth of a foal of two Wonderbolts sort of cancels out one Wonderbolt being there,” Spitfire said. “Even if she is the captain.”

Nurse Redheart came into the waiting room. Everypony (since Spike is asleep) trained their eyes to her as soon as she walked into the room. She looked around at everypony and said “Well everypony, it’s starting.”

“Is there anything we all can do to help?” Applejack asked.

“I have researched the subject as soon as Rainbow Dash told me she pregnant so I could be very helpful if you need it,” Twilight said.

“For now, no,” Nurse Redheart explained. “You need to just leave it to the professionals. If complications arise, which they shouldn’t from what we’ve seen so far, then we might need the help from an extra unicorn, but until we know for sure we won’t ask you to do anything. There are others in there who are much more experienced at this then you are.”

“I understand,” Twilight said.

“I will leave back to check on them,” Nurse Redheart said. “For now we just need you all to be patient. When it is done, I’ll come back and bring two of you at a time to see her. You guys decide who you want to see the foal first.” Nurse Redheart then left, walking further into the hospital.

Before anybody else could say anything, Spitfire spoke first. “I think it should be Scootaloo and I who go see Rainbow Dash first.”

Everybody looked at Spitfire questioningly. “I can understand Scootaloo being one of the first to see them, but why you as well?” Twilight asked. “Not that I’m arguing against it but do you have a reason?”

“I want to make sure that Soarin’ and Rainbow Dash are fine before I head back to the Wonderbolt Headquarters,” Spitfire said. “Because I’d like to head back as soon as I can it would be nice if I go first.”

“Alright, I understand,” Twilight said.

In order to wait everybody was playing some games that Pinkie Pie randomly pulled out of nowhere. Twilight and Spitfire were playing chess, and Spitfire was actually holding her own well against the smart unicorn. Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Fluttershy, and Rarity were all playing cards. Finally Scootaloo and the now awake Spike were both playing Battlecloud.

Eventually Nurse Redheart came in interrupting everybody telling them that it is done. As agreed, Scootaloo and Spitfire were the first one to go in and see Rainbow Dash and Soarin’. They both dropped what they were doing to go and follow Spitfire.

They both walked for a bit and passed through the door to the room Rainbow Dash is in. The first thing they saw in the room was Rainbow Dash. Her mane was even messier then how it would get during some of the more difficult practices. Her eyes looked more tired than Soarin’s do on days when he gets no sleep. But even with all of that, she had a large smile on her face as she looked down on the foal she was holding. And her eyes that she looked down on the foal with had tears climbing down then from her joy.

Soarin’ was right next to her also smiling largely as he looked upon his foal. He was the first who noticed Scootaloo and Spitfire, so he nudged Rainbow Dash to get her to notice. He then went up to Scootaloo and Spitfire.

“Hey Soarin’, nice to see your still alive,” Spitfire said, softly for the foal.

“Hey Spitfire,” Soarin’ also said softly. “Hey Scootaloo. So I guess you’re here to see the foal.”

“Well I am more worried about the two of you, but yeah, I guess seeing the foal is also nice,” Spitfire said. Spitfire, Soarin’, and Scootaloo all walked up to Rainbow Dash’s bed. “Hey Rainbow Dash, how are you feeling?” Spitfire asked.

“Tired,” Rainbow Dash said very softly, mostly out of how tired she is. “Really tired.” She held up the new foal, but not very high because of her lack of strength. “This little guy took a lot out of me.”

“So you have yourself a colt huh?” Spitfire asked. The colt has a the same cyan coat that Rainbow Dash has, and his mane looks like Soarin’ though if you looked closely you could see a bit of green, purple, and light blue in there.

“Yeah,” Rainbow Dash said as she brought the colt closer to herself. “I got to admit, I never knew that I would love this colt so much until I finally got to see him. I feel corny saying this, but this colt is really beautiful. Heh, I guess I’m not as awesome now as usual, but I don’t really care anymore.”

“I think you’re still awesome,” Soarin’ said.

“Same here,” Spitfire said. She looked down at Scootaloo, who thought that Spitfire was waiting for her to say something.

“Uhh…yeah you’re still awesome,” Scootaloo said. “And I guess the foal’s kinda cute.” She looked at the foal trying to avoid looking as ‘unawesome’ as possible but she had to admit that the foal is really cute. “So…I guess this kid is…my new brother?”

“If you want Scootaloo,” Soarin’ said.

“I…never thought I’d actually have a little brother,” Scootaloo said. “I…guess that’s pretty cool. I’ve got my own brother.”

“So, does this kid have a name yet?” Spitfire asked.

“Yeah,” Rainbow Dash said. She once again held the colt which caused him to open his eyes. He had the same eyes as Soarin’. “Say hello…to Cool Breeze.”
