Twilight Sparkle feels a desire to know and study alternative timelines. She uses the time travel spell to get her to travel. But when it arrives in an opposite universe of yours, she simply can't understand.
Using the time travel spell, she decides to travel to alternate timelines to find out what the life of the ponies in the alternate timeline is like. Twilight Sparkle arrives in alternative timeline that leaves her quite surprised. Luna is the ruler of Equestria and not Celestia. Sunset Shimmer is the Princess Luna student. After this shock, she explores this different Equestria and tries to accept this alternate timeline and return home and tell Spike.
Twilight Sparkle was in the throne room of her castle looking for the time travel spell on the shelves, she had a great desire to meet new timelines. Why? Simple, after she faced Starlight Glimmer and have reformed it. She was simply fascinated with how many timelines there was. She needed to study and learn about the life of the ponies in the other timelines.
It took a while, but Twilight Sparkle was able to find the travel spell in time. She climbed up on the crystal table and activated the time travel spell. Wind began to come and a hole appeared in the ceiling. Twilight Sparkle was sucked into the hole.
Twilight Sparkle saw that there were several timelines and she was passing them as she watched. She passed the timeline of the Shadow King, Queen Chrysalis, Nightmare Moon, Discord, Flim and Flam and Tirek. These she already knew, so she did not have to go to those. But then some began to appear which she never visited or even saw. Twilight Sparkle had to confess she was curious to know more about these timelines.
But then, she was, against her own will end up stopping in the throne room, she was on the roof and was falling to the ground, she tried to fly, but couldn’t and slammed her face on the floor and fainted.
When she woke up she moaned and put the hull on her head. “Uurgh ...”
“Glad you woke up,” said a friendly voice.
Twilight Sparkle knew this voice and looked at the figure who was looking at her with a smile, “Luna?” She asked.
“Yes, I must admit I didn’t expect to see an unconscious alicorn in the throne room,” replied Luna. “It’s been a long time since I’ve seen you, my ex-student, and I don’t even know how you became an alicorn”
Now Twilight Sparkle has been confused because Luna from this alternate timeline is called her from her former student?
“I’m sorry, but how do you do that?” asked Twilight Sparkle.
“You don’t remember? You were my student until you resolved to go through a crystal mirror,” replied Luna confused.
Twilight Sparkle realized that Luna mentioned the same mirror she went through to retrieve her crown. She decided it was better to explain the situation. “Look, Luna, I’m not the ex-student you’re talking about, but I’m not on that timeline, I’m just here to find out what it’s like here”
Luna thought for a moment before saying, “I’ll believe your words,” she smiled.
“Thank you, Luna,” said Twilight Sparkle smiling back.
Twilight Sparkle decided to ask. “I hope you don’t mind if I ask you a few questions, right?”
“You may ask,” replied Luna.
“Okay, when I got here and you saw me stunned on the floor, was it daytime?” asked Twilight Sparkle.
“No, it was night.”
“How long did I sleep?”
“One hour.”
“Is Princess Celestia the ruler here?”
“No, I am the ruler here, Celestia is a co-ruler.”
Twilight Sparkle was surprised and open-mouthed, literally. She didn’t expect Luna to rule on that timeline. She wondered if Celestia here gave up the throne and passed it to Luna, but that was in her head, right?
“Twilight, are you okay?” asked Luna, worriedly.
Twilight Sparkle recovered. “Yes, I was just surprised”
As if Luna were reading her thoughts, she said. “In your timeline, isn’t I the government?”
“No, Luna”, replied Twilight Sparkle.
“Who rules in your Equestria?” asked Luna.
“Princess Celestia.”
Luna caressed her chin. “I must admit, your Equestria is very different from mine”
In response, Twilight Sparkle nodded.
“Tell me, there the ponies are nocturnal?” asked Luna.
Twilight Sparkle was confused, because here in that timeline the ponies were nocturnal? She couldn’t understand. Did she like the night? She liked, she admired the night sky quite often. But she couldn’t understand why the ponies here would want to be nocturnal rather than diurnal.
“Why the confused expression?” asked Luna.
“It’s that in my Equestria, ponies are diurnal and not nocturnal”, replied Twilight Sparkle.
“But would you like them to be nocturnal?”
Twilight Sparkle tried to explain without hurting Luna, “look, I like the night, but I’d rather have the ponies to be diurnal”
Luna showed no sign of anger or sadness, just nodded, “I think my sister would love to meet you,” she said with a smile.
“Princess Celestia?” asked Twilight Sparkle with a smile.
Luna laughed at the thrill of Twilight Sparkle. “Yes, Twilight”
“But wouldn’t she be asleep now?” asked Twilight Sparkle not wanting to wake up her former mentor.
“Don’t worry, she sometimes stays up staring at the night sky before bed,” replied Luna.
“Okay, come on.” Twilight Sparkle rose from the bed.
Knowing the Princess Celestia and Sunset Shimmer of the Alternative Timeline
Celestia was on the balcony staring at the sky and stars until she heard the door to her room open, “Sister, we have a visitor”, said Luna with Twilight by her side.
Celestia looked at the two allicorns before approaching, “Hi, my name is Celestia, what’s your name?” asked Celestia with a smile for Twilight Sparkle.
“My name is Twilight Sparkle”, Twilight Sparkle almost screamed with joy.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Twilight Sparkle”, said Celestia.
“Twilight Sparkle, do you know where you’re staying?” asked Luna.
Suddenly, Twilight Sparkle panicked, “oh my god! I don’t have it!” Twilight Sparkle was so curious to know more about the timelines that she forgot to plan where to sleep.
“I’ll send you to Ponyville so you can stay with my student”, said Luna.
“Do you have a student?” asked Twilight Sparkle.
“Yes, her name is Sunset Shimmer”, replied Luna. “I’ll organize the carriage”
“But where does she live in Ponyville?” asked Twilight Sparkle.
“At the Golden Oka’s Tree Library,” replied Luna before leaving the room to organize the carriage, leaving Twilight Sparkle and Celestia alone in the room.
Twilight Sparkle was in the carriage, Luna’s guards were taking the carriage to Ponyville. Twilight Sparkle was having so many thoughts in her head about that timeline she was. Celestia was not the ruler, it was Luna. The ponies here were nocturnal and not diurnal. And Sunset Shimmer was Luna’s student. Luna’s guards were taking her to Ponyville and not the Celestia's guards. This timeline really, in every moment, made her more curious.
After a few hours of travel, the carriage passed near the Golden Oka’s Tree Library. She went to the door and hit her.
Hooves were heard and the door opened revealing Sunset Shimmer, “hello, good evening”, greeted Sunset Shimmer with a smile.
“Hi, my name is Twilight Sparkle”, introduced Twilight Sparkle.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Twilight Sparkle”, said Sunset Shimmer. “Would you like to come in?”
“Yes, please”, said Twilight Sparkle.
Twilight Sparkle came into the library and saw a baby dragon red with orange scales.
“Garble, we have a visitor,” said Sunset Shimmer as she closed the door.
Garble looked at Sunset Shimmer, “Should I prepare a snack?” asked Garble.
“Yes, please, Garble”, said Sunset Shimmer.
Garble went to the kitchen to prepare the snack.
Sunset Shimmer realized that Twilight Sparkle was a alicorn and bowed, “forgive me my ways, I didn’t realize I had a pony of royalty in my library”
“No need to bend over”, said Twilight Sparkle.
Sunset Shimmer got up and introduced the library to Twilight Sparkle. Although Twilight Sparkle already knew the library, after all, she lived there before be destroyed by Lord Tirek.
“The snack is ready!” Garble called Sunset Shimmer and Twilight Sparkle to eat.
Sunset Shimmer and Twilight Sparkle went downstairs and were eating the cookies that Garble prepared.
“So, are you on another timeline?” asked Sunset Shimmer as she ate the cookie. “That explains why I’ve never seen you before in Canterlot or in Ponyville”
“I’m just here to meet this timeline, then I’m going back to my original timeline”, explained Twilight Sparkle.
“I can show you here, if you like,” offered Sunset Shimmer with a smile.
“I’d love to”, said Twilight Sparkle with a smile.
Twilight Sparkle and Sunset Shimmer left the library, Garble stayed in the library.
“First, I’ll show you my friends”, said Sunset Shimmer.
Sunset Shimmer saw that her friends were talking, she called them, “girls! I made a new friend!”
Sunset Shimmer’s friends looked at Sunset Shimmer and Twilight Sparkle, they saw Twilight Sparkle as a alicorn and bowed, “you don’t have to bow”, said Twilight Sparkle.
The friends got up, “What’s your name?” asked Indigo Zap.
“My name is Twilight Sparkle”, introduced Twilight Sparkle.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Twilight Sparkle, my name is Indigo Zap”, introduced Indigo Zap.
“My name is Sour Sweet”, introduced Sour Sweet.
“My name is Sunny Flare”, introduced Sunny Flare.
“My name is Sugarcoat”, introduced Sugarcoat.
“And my name is Lemon Zest”, introduced Lemon Zest.
“It’s nice to meet all of you, but I’m not going to stay here”, said Twilight Sparkle.
“What do you mean?” asked Indigo Zap.
“I’m not on this timeline, I’m just here to visit”, replied Twilight Sparkle.
“Wow, that explains why we’ve never seen you here before”, said Lemon Zest.
“Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to get on the train to go to the Crystal Empire”, said Twilight Sparkle before going to the train station, Sunset Shimmer followed her.
Twilight Sparkle and Sunset Shimmer were already on the train, until they finally arrived in the Crystal Empire and got off the train, ‘i wonder if Candace rules the Crystal Empire here,’ thought Twilight Sparkle with a smile.
“Why are you smiling, Twilight?” asked Sunset Shimmer.
Twilight Sparkle looked at Sunset Shimmer, “is that I would like to know who is the ruler of the Crystal Empire here”
“I’ll show you, follow me”, said Sunset Shimmer with a smile before running off to the crystal castle, Twilight Sparkle ran off trying to catch up Sunset Shimmer.
Sunset Shimmer and Twilight Sparkle were already at the door to the throne room. Sunset Shimmer opened the door and went up to her former foalsitter, “Chrysalis!” exclaimed Sunset Shimmer cheerfully.
Chrysalis saw Sunset Shimmer, she smiled and went to Sunset Shimmer. Sunset Shimmer and Chrysalis looked happy before doing what they always did when they met, “moonlight, moonlight! Butterflies awake! Clap your hooves and do a little shake!” they both laughed happily.
Twilight Sparkle was surprised and open-mouthed. Because the Chrysalis here wasn't a changeling, it was a white alicorn princess. And also, because Chrysalis from that timeline reminded her of Candace’s timeline.
“Are you okay?” asked Chrysalis to Twilight Sparkle.
“Yes, sorry, I was just surprised”, replied Twilight Sparkle.
“What’s your name?” asked Chrysalis.
“Twilight Sparkle”, replied Twilight Sparkle.
“Nice to meet you, Twilight, my name is Chrysalis”, Chrysalis introduced herself with a smile.
Chrysalis noticed that Twilight Sparkle was a alicorn and said, “I see you’re an alicorn too, but I’ve never seen you around before”
“It’s because I’m not on that timeline, I’m just visiting here”, replied Twilight Sparkle.
“It makes sense”, said Chrysalis with a smile.
Sunset Shimmer and Twilight Sparkle left the Crystal Castle and caught a train will to go to Ponyville, “so? What did you think of my foalsitter?” asked Sunset Shimmer with a big smile.
“She’s nice”, replied Twilight Sparkle with a smile.
“Nice? She’s more than nice! She’s beautiful, she’s caring and she’s kind!” exclaimed Sunset Shimmer cheerfully.
Twilight Sparkle couldn’t stop thinking that this Sunset Shimmer reminded her a lot.
“Are you going to stay here any longer, or are you coming back to your house?” asked Sunset Shimmer.
“I think I’ll stay here for a more day”, replied Twilight Sparkle.
“Okay, so I’ll prepare a bed for you to sleep in the library”, said Sunset Shimmer with a smile.
When Sunset Shimmer and Twilight Sparkle arrived in Ponyville, they went to the Golden Oka’s Tree Library, “Garble, we arrived”, said Sunset Shimmer.
“Hi Sunset Shimmer, hi Twilight Sparkle”, greeted Garble.
“I’ll prepare your bed for you to sleep”, said Sunset Shimmer before climbing the stairs.
“Want to help?” asked Twilight Sparkle.
“No, thank you”, replied Sunset Shimmer.
After Sunset Shimmer finished packing a bed for Twilight Sparkle, she went downstairs, “Okay, I’ve got your bed ready for bed”, said Sunset Shimmer.
“Sunset Shimmer, dinner is ready”, Garble said.
Sunset Shimmer and Twilight Sparkle went to the table, “what did you do for dinner, Garble?” asked Sunset Shimmer.
“Vegetable soup”, replied Garble.
Garble went to the table and put the soup on the plates. Sunset Shimmer took the spoon and began to eat. Before Twilight Sparkle eat, she kept thinking about everything that happened and how different this timeline was.
Sunset Shimmer and Garble were already sleeping, except Twilight Sparkle. As much as she tried to sleep, she couldn’t. Because it was daytime. She simply couldn’t understand how Sunset Shimmer could sleep well, especially on a beautiful day like today. She got out of bed and went to the kitchen to get a glass of milk to see if she could sleep well.
Upon arriving in the kitchen, Twilight Sparkle took a glass, milk box and a pot to make the milk.
After Twilight finished making the milk, she went to the table to drink it. When she finished drinking it, she went to the bed to sleep.
When Twilight Sparkle woke up, she could smell the yummy pancakes being cooked. She got out of bed and walked down the steps.
Sunset Shimmer was on the table while Garble prepared pancakes and wore a yellow apron. Sunset Shimmer saw Twilight Sparkle and greeted her, “Good evening, Twilight”
“Good evening, Sunset”, greeted Twilight Sparkle.
Twilight Sparkle sat down at the table to wait for the pancakes Garble made.
“Why did you delay to wake up? It’s such a beautiful night”, said Sunset Shimmer.
“It’s just that in the timeline where I live, the ponies aren’t nocturnal”, replied Twilight Sparkle.
Sunset Shimmer gasped, “what do you mean? They don’t like the night? The moonlight?” asked Sunset Shimmer desperately.
“It’s not that the ponies don’t like, they’re just more accustomed to staying awake during the day”, replied Twilight Sparkle.
Sunset Shimmer let out a sigh, “well, I will not judge you”, said Sunset Shimmer.
“The pancakes are ready”, said Garble bringing the pancakes to the table.
Garble put a pancake on the plate of Sunset Shimmer and Twilight Sparkle and his.
Twilight Sparkle took the pancake with its magic and began to eat.
“So, are you planning on leaving today?” asked Sunset Shimmer holding the pancake with its magic.
Twilight Sparkle swallowed before answering, “yes, I’ve explored everything I wanted right here”
Garble was eating until he belched and a parchment appeared, “is it from the princess?” asked Sunset Shimmer to Garble who took the parchment and opened it to read.
As much as Twilight Sparkle wanted to believe that Sunset Shimmer was talking about Princess Celestia, she knew Sunset Shimmer was talking about Princess Luna.
Garble looked at Sunset Shimmer with a look of concern, and possibly, in fear, “it’s Princess Luna, she wants you and your friends to come with the elements of harmony to the Castle as quickly as possible”
Sunset Shimmer, Twilight Sparkle and her friends were on the train on the way to Canterlot. All less Twilight Sparkle were using their elements of harmony. They realized that suddenly it was daylight. Was this one of Luna’s reasons for calling them?
“Why do you think the princess called us to Canterlot, and go with the elements of harmony?” asked Indigo Zap to Sunset Shimmer.
“I don't know, Indigo”, replied Sunset Shimmer before looking up at the sky. “But with the sun coming in the middle of the night, I fear that our enemy has returned”
Twilight Sparkle raised an eyebrow. What enemies were these ponies talking about?
Luna was in Celestia’s room. She had put a shield around Daybreaker so that Daybreaker wouldn't escape and attack her.
“No! It’s for your own good, sister“, said Luna sadly.
Luna couldn't understand. Why Celestia had become Daybreaker again? Sunset Shimmer and her friends had defeated her, right?
Luna was walking in the corridor of the castle until she heard the voice of her sister from the room, “no, please, I don't want to be that monster again! Nooo!” exclaimed Celestia in a panic before silence.
Luna entered the room and saw Celestia on the floor as if unconscious, she went to her sister, “Celestia?” asked Luna worried.
Celestia’s voice came, but low, “haha ... There is no Celestia ...”
Luna began to panic, “Sister, please ...”
“... Just Daybreaker!” Celestia’s mane turned to flames and her eyes became draconic.
Luna wasted no time, and wrapped a shield around Daybreaker so she wouldn't attack. Luna left the room running and went to her room to write a letter, “my dear student, bring your friends and the elements of harmony as soon as possible to the castle, signed Luna”
That done, she sent the letter with her magic to her student and waited for them in the throne room.
Sunset Shimmer, Twilight Sparkle and the friends of Sunset Shimmer were taken by a Luna guard to the throne room.
Sunset Shimmer opened the door to the throne room and saw Luna waiting for them, “Luna!” exclaimed Sunset Shimmer cheerfully before rushing to embrace her mentor.
“Sunset Shimmer, how nice that you and your friends arrived with the elements of harmony, it’s my sister", said Luna as she hugged Sunset Shimmer.
Sunset Shimmer came out of the hug, “what happened to her?” asked Sunset Shimmer.
“She became Daybreaker again", said Luna sadly.
“Oh no”, said Sunset Shimmer.
Twilight Sparkle tensed. Celestia had a bad side, just like Luna has Nightmare Moon? This can't be true.
“Does Celestia have a bad side?” asked Twilight Sparkle carefully.
“Yeah, why?” asked Luna looking at Twilight Sparkle confused.
Twilight Sparkle didn't know what to say, “It’s that ... Celestia would never become evil, right?” asked Twilight Sparkle nervously.
Sunset Shimmer approached Twilight Sparkle, “Look Twilight, maybe on your timeline she’ll never become bad, but here she’s already turned bad once and turned bad again”, said Sunset Shimmer.
“But ... But ... Wait, how come she’s already turned bad ?!” Twilight Sparkle panicked. “What made her turn bad?!”
“Twilight, it’s a long story,” said Luna. “We don't have time…”
“Let me go, sister!” Shouted Daybreaker who was still in the room with the shield.
“Celestia!” exclaimed Twilight Sparkle before running to where Daybreaker’s voice was.
“Twilight, no!” exclaimed Luna.
Twilight Sparkle ran as far as the voice could be. She realized the voice was coming from a door with crescent moon. She opened the door and found Daybreaker on the shield trying everything to escape.
Daybreaker stopped what she was doing and looked at Twilight Sparkle with curiosity, “who are you?” asked Daybreaker.
“I’m am Twilight Sparkle, and I came to save you,” replied Twilight Sparkle before going up to the shield and trying to take the shield off with its magic, but failing.
Suddenly, hoof sounds were heard until it stopped. Twilight Sparkle turned her head to look at the seven ponies before her. Twilight Sparkle went to Luna, “release her!” exclaimed Twilight Sparkle angrily. “Now!”
“She’s Celestia!” exclaimed Twilight Sparkle. “Release her now, Luna, or I swear ...”
“Twilight, you can't threaten the princess like that,” said Sunset Shimmer with a panicked tone. “And besides, she’s not Celestia ...”
“She’s Celestia!” exclaimed Twilight Sparkle more irritably.
“Twilight, this Celestia isn't Celestia from your timeline, it’s from our timeline and your Celestia is still there in your Equestria!" exclaimed Sunset Shimmer.
Twilight Sparkle thought for a moment to reflect what Sunset Shimmer said, “but ...” tried to say Twilight Sparkle but was interrupted by Sunset Shimmer.
“We will not ban her, if that’s what you’re thinking,” Sunset Shimmer approached Twilight Sparkle, who had tears in her eyes. “We will only save Celestia from the evil influence that is in Celestia”
“Alright ...” said Twilight Sparkle before embracing Sunset Shimmer.
Twilight Sparkle went out of the way and allowed Sunset Shimmer and her friends to use the elements. The elements shone and were coming together to form the rainbow. Luna knowing that, took out Daybreaker’s shield.
“Free at last!” Daybreaker was about to laugh, but a rainbow formed around her as she shouted, "Nooooo! Not again!"
Suddenly, a white glare covered the room, after that,Celestia opened her eyes weakly, “thank you” thanked Celestia before falling asleep.
“Thank you so much Sunset Shimmer and so do you", thanked Luna to Sunset Shimmer and her friends.
Luna took Celestia with her magic and laid her on the bed so she could rest.
Sunset Shimmer looked at Twilight Sparkle, “So, Twilight, are you leaving now?”
Twilight Sparkle looked at Sunset Shimmer, “yes”, replied Twilight Sparkle.
“Well then, goodbye”, Sunset Shimmer gave a good-bye hug.
Twilight Sparkle took the time travel spell, wind began to appear and a hole appeared on the ceiling.
“Goodbye, Twilight", said Luna.
“Goodbye, Twilight”, said the friends of Sunset Shimmer.
The wind carried Twilight Sparkle to the hole. Twilight Sparkle went through the same timelines she’d gone through before.
When Twilight Sparkle returned to her castle she heard a door opening, “Twilight, where were you? I looked for you all over the castle“, said Spike.
“Hi, Spike,” greeted Twilight Sparkle. “I just traveled for an alternate timeline”
“But you had traveled without telling me, i was already worried”, replied Spike.
“I know, Spike,” said Twilight Sparkle. “And I’m sorry for not letting you know, would you like to hear how it went?”
“Sure, Twilight”, replied Spike with a grin.
Twilight Sparkle and Spike went to a room they had in the castle, they sat on a couch and Twilight Sparkle told Spike how her adventure was.
