This story takes place in an alternate universe of the Yu-Gi-Oh! EQG continuity I've set up. In it, Burst and the others use morphers to fuse with their duel monster partners. IT'S MORPHIN' TIME!
Following her second defeat, Nightmare Moon was imprisoned on Earth's Moon. However, she is far from powerless. She's noticed dimensional rips between the human and monster worlds, and has amassed her forces of evil monsters with duelist partners to bring eternal night to this new world. Pegasus has also noticed the rips, and felt Nightmare's dark presence as well as her gathering forces. In order to counter this threat, he has made the duel morphers. Devices imbued with the spirits of powerful duel monsters. He and his adopted son Golden Rise must find worthy rangers to fight this evil. Before night falls forever. GO GO DUELIST RANGERS!

She had been defeated again. The Elements of Harmony had separated her from Luna, but she was far from destroyed. Nightmare Moon slowly awakened, and she found herself in a different form and on the moon again. But not the moon of Equestria. The moon of a new world. Earth. "So it appears I still live.", Nightmare thought out loud. "Well then. Time to realize my goal on this world. Soon, eternal night shall fall!" Nightmare then took note of the dimensional rips that seemed to be evident in this world. She peered through one, and saw the monster world. "And I've found just the means to help me do so." The rips then revealed to her the evil monsters of that world and she drew her attention to the evil duelists as well. Meanwhile, Pegasus had stirred from his slumber. He had sensed a powerful dark presence.
'This doesn't bode well...', Pegasus thought to himself. He then checked on the dimensional rips, and wasn't too pleased with what he saw. "Just as I thought. The rips are still present. Wait...oh no! Seems as though some of the more malevolent monsters have been drawn to the dark presence I sensed. And I also sense the spirits of dark duelists gathering around it too. There must be some way to counter this!" An idea then came to Pegasus. "Yes..it's clear! The only way to fight against evil monsters is with good ones! But they can't do this alone." Pegasus then began to draw up plans that looked like small devices. "Now I just have to find duelists worthy of their power and with good souls." The next few days, Pegasus began working on the devices he had drawn designs for. He called them morphers, and the ones to wield them would be called rangers.
Burst woke up with a big smile. It was a beautiful day outside, and it was the end of the school week. "Time to get ready." Burst got dressed, ate breakfast and headed off to school. On his way in, he ran into his friends. "Hey Inferno!"
"What's up Burst?", Inferno greeted as the two fist bumped. "Happy the week's over?"
"I know I am!", Steel chimed in. "Saturday can't come soon enough. Especially since Rainbow Dash and I have got a date planned!"
"How about you and Rarity Inferno?"
"Me and my gem are going out on Saturday too. So how's the single life treating you?"
"Pretty good. But I still want some special girl in my life. I just have to find the right one." The trio parted ways and they went about the day. Meanwhile, Pegasus and his adopted son Golden Rise were driving around Canterlot. They were carrying two briefcases with them.
"Hey dad? Do you really think we're going to find worthy rangers here?", Gold asked. "At my school?"
"From what I've sensed, we should be able to.", Pegasus said. "I've sensed about five duelists with good souls at your high school. They may be our only hope. Plus I wanted to meet the girl who's captured your heart."
"Do you think they could be the Elements of Harmony for this world?"
"No. They don't have the energy you described that the elements had. But their power is equal to if not greater than the elements." Pegasus was about to continue when their vehicle came under attack! Garble sneered as he took pride in his work.
"Now Tyrant Dragon! Let's crack open that shell!" Tyrant Dragon let out another blast of flame that flipped the limo over and knocked one of the briefcases loose! Pegasus and Gold recovered from the flipped limo, and Pegasus reached for the briefcase that had been knocked out of the car. Then a shadow seemed to materialize and condensed into a form.
"I'll be taking those.", Sombra said with a sneer as he and Garble vanished. Gold helped his dad and the driver out of the car safely.
"At least they only took the case that had only two morphers.", Pegasus said with a sigh of relief. "Gold? Are we far from CHS?"
"We're pretty close. But I'll probably be marked tardy because I'll arrive late." They made their way to CHS with the hopes of finding rangers to use the morphers.
Meanwhil at Nightmare's Moon Fortress...
"So it appears you two were successful.", Nightmare said with a pleased smile as Sombra and Garble returned. "Excellent. Now let's see our prize." Nightmare opened the box and found two morphers inside. "Garble, you'll be the first. Tyrant Dragon has chosen you." Garble had a greedy smile as he put on his morpher. "I've altered them so that you only need to press the activation button." Garble activated his morpher, and was transformed in a flash of light! Garble looked like he had fused with Tyrant Dragon as he admired his new wings that were fused into his back. Another result of Nightmare using her magic on the morphers she had obtianed.
"I can't wait to play around with this power!", Garble said savagely.
"You'll have your chance. Return to earth and destroy the rest of the duel morphers!", Nightmare commanded. Garble then teleported back to earth in order to finish what had been started. At the same time, Pegasus and Gold had arrived at CHS. Burst noticed Gold, and decided to say hello.
"Hey Gold! You sure slept in today.", Burst greeted with a smile. "And it's a pleasure to meet you as well Mr. Pegasus."
"You could say that...", Gold said. Pegasus then noticed a glow coming from the briefcase that held the morphers.
"No need for formalities Burst. Just Pegasus is fine by me. I hope you don't mind, but I'd like to join you and your friends for lunch."
"No problem at all. All of my friends and I are duelists. I personally run a Blue Eyes deck."
"How interesting.", Pegasus said. 'Could him and his friends be the ones?' Lunch period soon arrived and Burst introduced his friends to Pegasus. Needless to say, they were all surprised. Pegasus then noticed the glow was brighter than last time. "It's wonderful to meet you all. No wonder Gold speaks so highly of you." The conversation would have continued, if Garble hadn't attacked the school leading a force of monsters! Most of the students fled as the villains began their attack! Thankfully they made it out, but Burst and his friends were still inside the school! And Garble had taken notice.
"Ah! There you are Pegasus! Hand over the morphers and I'll only lightly roast you.", Garble said with a sneer.
"How about I hand you this instead?" Pegasus summoned Blue Eyes Toon Dragon to distract Garble! "Follow me!" Pegasus led the group of friends to a safe spot.
"Anyone care to explain who that was and why they're trying to waste us?!", Rainbow Dash demanded.
"His name is Garble. And he is simply one of many that have sworn allegiance to Nightmare Moon.", Pegasus answered.
"Wait! THE Nightmare Moon?!", Sunset shouted. "That can't be! She was destroyed and Luna was freed from her!"
"Defeated, not destroyed.", Gold said. "Take it from a fellow former pony. I can tell it's her from the aura of darkness my dad sensed. She's here to succeed in bringing eternal night to this world. She's amassed an army of evil monsters and she's recruited evil duelists as her more advanced warriors."
"We can't let that happen!", Ace said. "Is there any way to stop her?"
"There is a way. And it's all of you.", Pegasus answered.
"We can pony-up and use our magic, but we can't use the full power of the elements frequently!", Sunset said.
"I was not referring to just you and the elements Miss Shimmer. I meant all of you. Especially you Burst." Pegasus then opened the book to reveal the duel morphers. "I made these duel morphers so I could find duelists worthy of the power of the good monsters. And the morphers have chosen each of you. All I can ask is: Will you take a stand?" The group was silent until Burst reached out for the Blue Eyes morpher.
"I'll fight to protect my home.", Burst said as he strapped on his morpher.
"If Burst's in, I'm in too!", Inferno said as he took the Red Eyes morpher.
"Can't let you guys do this without me.", Steel said as he took the BLS morpher.
"I'm joining the fight too.", Ace said as he took the Timaeus morpher.
"Count me in too!", Shadow said as he took the Dragluon morpher.
"And you'll have us to give you extra back-up!", Rainbow Dash boasted.
"Then now, you are the Duelist Rangers!", Pegasus said proudly. Suddenly, Garble appeared!
"Perfect! Targets to vent my frustration!"
"You wanna take over this world? You have to go through us! Ready guys?", Burst shouted.
"IT'S MORPHIN' TIME!", Burst shouted as he and his friends activated their morphers! "Blue Eyes White Dragon!"
"Red Eyes Black Dragon!"
"Black Luster Soldier!"
"Timaeus!"
"Dragluon!" When the light faded, five figures clad in high-tech armor that resembled each respective monster partner of the guys.
"Whoa! This is cool!", Burst said as he took in his ranger form.
'Hello Burst.'
"Who said that?"
'It's me. Blue Eyes! I've fused with you to create this form because my spirit is inside your morpher.'
"Sweet! We're really fighting as one!" The others were also getting to know their monster partners.
"Enough!", Garble hissed. "Who do you think you are to stand against me?"
"We're the Duelist Rangers!", Inferno said proudly.
"I don't care what you call yourselves! You're going down!" Garble charged at the rangers, but Burst caught his fist.
"My turn.", Burst said as he knocked Garble across the hallway with one punch! Garble recovered, but he was angry now!
"That's it!" Garble summoned his sword. "I'll cut you to ribbons!" Burst and the others dodged, and Inferno caught Garble off-guard with a kick to the back!
"Time to bust out our own hardware!" Inferno then summoned a blaster modeled after Red Eyes! "Inferno Fire Blast!" Inferno shot a barrage of shots that struck Garble! Ace and Shadow then summoned their own weapons! Ace had a sword while Shadow had a spear. Both charged Garble! Landing a series of slashes that left him vulnerable! Burst then summoned his own sword and a set of twin blasters.
"Leave him to me guys. I'm gonna finish this!" Burst charge right at Garble and leaped into the air firing a hail of blaster fire on Garble! The two then crossed swords, but Burst pushed Garble back! "Final Strike!" Burst charged his sword full of energy! "WHITE LIGHTNING!" Burst unleashed a powerful blast of energy from his sword that struck Garble! Causing a huge explosion where he once stood!
"This isn't over!!!", Garble screamed as he retreated back to Nightmare's fortress. The school had seen the lights go off, and were in awe of the rangers' appearance! Celestia was the first to address them.
"Thank you for saving us. But, who are you?"
"We're the Duelist Rangers!", Burst announced proudly as all five of them teleported away. Celestia smiled.
'Duelist Rangers huh? The Blue Eyes one seems kind of cute...'
Nightmare Moon was furious! "You fool!", she bellowed at Garble. "Did you really think you could beat them once they morphed?!" Garble was cowering.
"Please! Give me another chance to destroy the rangers! I won't fail you again! I promise swift and terrible vengeance!", Garble pleaded.
"You will have your chance Garble. But not today. I'll be sending in a different warrior to do my bidding." Nightmare used her magic to open a portal to the monster world. "I call upon Ancient Gear Golem!" A towering machine came through the portal and looked down upon Nightmare Moon.
"So what do I get to smash?", Gear Golem asked.
"I want you to attack Canterlot to draw out the rangers. Once they appear, you are to destroy them! And take a few of my shadowbolts with you."
"At once mistress." Gear Golem then teleported to earth with a squad of shadowbolts. "Let's wreak some havoc!" Meanwhile Burst and the others were in class when their morphers beeped! Burst and the others met up in the hallways to see what was going on.
"What's up Gold?", Burst asked.
"Ancient Gear Golem is tearing up the city! You guys have to get there and stop him!"
"On our way! Let's go guys!" Burst and the others were teleported to where Ancient Gear Golem was attacking! "Hey bolt brain! Didn't your motherboard ever teach you not to mess with people's stuff?"
"So you must be the rangers. Targets identified. Attack!" At Golem's command, the shadowbolts advanced on the rangers!
"It's morphin' time!", Burst called out as he and the guys morphed into their ranger forms! They engaged the shadowbolts head on! "These guys aren't so tough, but they're packing in numbers!", Burst said as he took down a couple of shadowbolts only for a few more to take their place!
"Just means there's more to use as training dummies!", Inferno said as he summoned his sword and started tearing through his own wave of enemies! Once they were defeated, they exploded in a burst of darkness! "They aren't very durable either!" Steel had just dispatched his own set of shadowbolts with his sword and shield, while Ace and Shadow were cleaning out the remaining stragglers. Shadow wiped out the last of them with a spin attack from his spear!
"Let's send Golem to the scrapheap!", Shadow said as he charged at Ancient Gear Golem! But Gear Golem blocked his strike and sent him flying with one punch!
"Shadow!", Ace cried as he went to check on his brother.
"nnngh! That guy can throw a mean punch! Don't get too close to him!"
"Then let's take him down from long range! You with me Inferno?!", Burst aksed.
"Always buddy! Let's do it!" The two charged at Gear Golem and let loose a flurry of blaster shots! When they got closer they used their suits' wings to fly over Gole and attack his back with their swords! The two then charged a shot from their blasters and fired! Gear Golem was left in pieces! And that didn't sit well with Nightmare.
"The battle is far from over rangers! Megamorph! Make Ancient Gear Golem grow!" Soon a seal appeared where Anceint Gear Golem once stood! Ancient Gear Golem was restored and grew taller than the buidlings!
"Now you're the ones who'll be scrapped!", he boomed as he began his assault on the city anew!
"Oh man! Nothing in our arsenal can take him down at that size!" Burst then received a communication on his morpher. "Pegasus? What is it?"
"A little something to even the odds! Call upon your zords! Each zord is respective of your ranger form!"
"Right! Blue Eyes White Dragon Zord!"
"Red Eyes Black Dragon Zord!"
"Black Luster Soldier Zord!"
"Timaeus Zord!"
"Dragluon Zord!" The rangers called their zords and jumped into them!
"All right guys! Let's see what these zords can do!" The rangers engaged Ancient Gear Golem alone, but none of them alone could seem to do any significant damage! "We're getting nowhere with this!" Soon an alert came up on Burst's display! "Huh? Megazord mode?" Burst smiled as he looked over the data. "Guys, do you read me? We have to combine our zords!"
"We're with you Burst!", the others said.
"Alright! Megazord mode!" The zords leaped into the air and combined! Ace and Shadow's zords formed the legs while Inferno and Steel's zords formed the arms! Burst's zord formed the main body and head!! "Duel Megazord online!"
"So that's your shiny new toy. Let's see how bad I can break it!", Gear Golem roared as he charged at the Megazord! But the Megazord caught his fist, and unleashed a powerful uppercut!
"You're the one headed for the junkyard!", Inferno boasted. The Megazord then traded blows with Gear Golem! With a mighty kick, Ancient Gear Golem was knocked down to his last legs! "Hey guys! We're getting more data! Megazord Saber? Sweet! Burst, you wanna do the honors?"
"You know it! Summon Megazord Saber!" A gigantic sword came down from the sky and landed in the Megazord's hand! "Let's end this! Final Strike!" The saber was charged with energy, and with a mighty slash Ancient Gear Golem exploded! "Gear Golem's in the scrapheap!"
"Well done rangers! Warp to this location while the zords return to their lairs to recharge." Burst and the others jumped out of the zords and warped to the location Pegasus had sent them. "Whoa! What is this place?"
"Welcome to the command center.", Gold announced proudly. "It serves as our base of operations. Plus it's a pretty sweet hang-out."
"Nice!", Ace said. "Now we're officially super heroes!" The heroes shared a laugh before teleporting back to school. Meanwhile, Nightmare was gazing through her crystal ball that displayed the battle. Specifically, she focused on the rangers' civilian forms. She took an extra while to look at Burst.
"Hmm. Perhaps I should pay him a visit.", Nightmare said to herself with a sly smile. "Sweet dreams Burst."
'These last two days have been crazy.', Burst thought to himself. 'I'm just glad the day's over now.' Burst had completed his work at school, so he had plenty of free time before he hit the shower. After dinner he hit the shower and changed into his PJs, went to sleep, and started to dream. However, he would not be alone in his dreams for long. Nightmare had been watching him, and took her chance to enter his dreams. In his dreams, Nightmare saw that he and the rangers were friends with the elements of this world. She even saw that some of the rangers were dating the elements. Nightmare then returned her attention to Burst whose dream had shifted to him training with his ranger weapons. He was really going at it, and soon stopped to rest. Nightmare took some time to take in his form.
"You're quite cute for someone opposing me.", she said to herself. "It's such a shame you're single." Nightmare then moved in closer. "No one would ever guess you have so much power within you. No wonder you're the leader of your team." She carressed his cheek with her hand. What she didn't know was that Burst promptly jolted awake and drew his sword!
"Who are you? And what are you doing here?", Burst asked calmly while keeping his blade's edge aimed at Nightmare.
"If that's how you want to play...", Nightmare said as she summoned a sword with her magic. "Would you give me the pleasure of one dance?" She charged at Burst, but he blocked her strike with his own sword and began to counter attack. "You're good." Nightmare then executed a sweep kick, but Burst jumped over it and came down with his sword full force! Breaking her summoned sword!
"As fun as that was, I'd still like to know who you are and what you're doing here. Because I've never seen you before."
"Oh I'm not telling you anything just yet. But I will tell you this. We will meet again, and I'm looking forward to it.", Nightmare said with a sly smile as she planted a kiss on Burst's cheek. "Sweet dreams until then Burst." Nightmare vanished in a cloud of mist! Burst was recovering from the shock of receiving the unexpected kiss and seeing an uninvited guest. In fact, the shock woke him up!
'Who was that? And why did she kiss me?', Burst thought to himself. 'Well there is one fact I can't deny. She was kinda beautiful.' Burst went back to sleep, and rested for whatever the next day would bring. Apparently, Nightmare had decided to send a dinosaur-type monster called Super Conductor Tyranno. And currently he was raiding the electrical plant and feasting off the electricity.
"Ah! Just the recharge I needed!"
"Too bad the buffet's closed!", Inferno said as he and the other rangers arrived on the scene.
"Rangers! Well, this is a shock!", Super Conductor then activated the activated his powers and released a surge of lightning bolts at the rangers! However, it drastically depleted his energy. "Darn. There goes that meal. Good thing this whole city is gigantic feeding ground! Later losers!" Tyranno turned into a ball of lightning and zapped away!
"Now how are we supposed to find him?", Shadow asked.
"Wait. He feeds on power right?", Ace asked.
"Yeah. Do you have a plan for a trap?" Ace smiled.
"I sure do." The group had setup a whole variety of batteries out in the open with the hopes of luring Super Conductor Tyranno.
"Ace? I think this only works in cartoons.", Steel objected.
"Dude, trust me on this." Sure enough Tyranno appeared and began chowing down on the energy stored in the batteries. "NOW!" The rangers then jumped out and ambushed Tyranno with their melee weapons!
"Something tells me it would be easier if we just used our blasters!", Inferno complained.
"He feeds on energy! You really want to throw snacks at him while we're trying to beat him?", Ace reminded him.
"Oh. Right. In that case...", Inferno charged up his sword. "Spiral Flame Tornado!" Inferno then became a tornado of flames that sucked in Super Conductor Tyranno, and finished with an explosion! "He got burned!"
"Megamorph!", Nightmare shouted as she cast the spell to revive and grow Super Conductor Tyranno!
"Now I'm gonna drain this city dry!", Tyranno boomed as he began to feed off the power of the city!
"We need Megazord power now!" Burst and the others summoned their zords and formed the Megazord! The rangers clashed with Tyranno, but they were at a disadvantage as he began to steal power from the Megazord!
"Energy's dropping!", Shadow informed them. "How can we beat him when he's absorbed this much energy?!" An idea came to Inferno!
"We overload him! He can only take so much like we saw back at the power plant! Overload him and his draining days are over! He wants power? Let's give it to him!" The rangers concentrated what power was left in the Megazord in one mighty surge that overloaded Super Conductor Tyranno!
"Too much! Can't...hold...it...!" In a flash of light, Super Conductor Tyranno exploded!
"Monster extinct!", Burst declared as the Megazord struck a victory pose! The rangers returned to school and told their friends all about their latest battle. The day soon came to a close, and Burst was drifting off to his dreams once he was in bed, but his thoughts were preoccupied with who the girl he saw last night was. Especially how she knew his name. 'Why can't I shake the feeling that she's close?' Little did he know Nightmare was watching him from her crystal with a smile.
"Today's the day guys!", Ace proudly announced. "I'm asking Sonata Dusk out!"
"Considering she and her family were forgiven for that stunt they pulled in trying to take over the school, I think you've got a shot.", Burst said. "Besides, you're one of the nicest guys I know. And she's the nice one out of her family so you two should get along fine."
"Good luck man!", Inferno said. Ace nodded and went to over to Sonata's locker.
"Hi there Sonata.", Ace greeted.
"Oh. Hi! You're one of the guys Sunset and the others are friends with right?"
"Yeah. My name's Artic Ace. But call me Ace instead please."
"Nice to meet you!", Sonata said with a smile.
"There's uh, something I've been meaning to tell you. Sonata, I've got feelings for you. And it was before you ever sang."
"You really mean it?"
"More than you'll ever know." Sonata was tearing up when she pulled Ace into a bone-crushing hug!
"It's so wonderful to hear that!"
"That's great Sonata! But my vision's starting to go dark...", Ace said with his voice full of strain. Sonata then released him.
"Whoops! Sorry! So does after school today work?"
"It's perfect. See ya then!", Ace walked off with a grin as he returned to his friends.
"Good job Ace.", Burst said as he pat him on the back. "You've found the one." Meanwhile in her fortress, Nightmare Moon was searching for other beings from Equestria that may have been sent to Earth. And as luck would have it, she spotted the former sirens.
"They could be of use to me.", Nightmare said with a devious smile. Back on Earth, Sonata was meeting up with her family and told them about her date after school.
"Looks like our little Sonata has a number one fan.", Adagio said with a smile. "What's his name?"
"Ace. And he's pretty sweet.", Sonata beamed. "He's also got plenty of friends if either of you wanted to know."
"Heh. Like I need a guy in my life.", Aria said with a smirk. The three of them were walking home from school when a portal appeared and Nightmare Moon stepped out.
"Greetings sirens. I have an offer for you."
"Who are you? And how did you knew we were sirens?!", Adagio demanded.
"Because I came from Equestria as well. You may have heard of my legend. I am Nightmare Moon."
"And just what're you selling us?", Aria asked. "Also, why should we trust you?"
"I'm offering you a chance to get your magic back, and your voices. All you need do is join me, and help me bring eternal night. So are you in?"
"No thanks. I kind of like the sun.", Adagio replied boldly. "And what's the worst you can do if we say no?"
"Does this answer your question?" Nightmare snapped her fingers and an army of shadowbolts appeared. "Still don't feel like joining?"
"Sonata. Stay behind us.", Aria said firmly while she and Adagio prepared to face the odds. Nightmare decided to teleport back to her fortress. Meanwhile, Timaeus materialized while Ace was about to head home.
"What's up Timaeus?"
"I sense a great darkness closeby. There are also some people caught in that area."
"We'd better get over there!" Ace checked to make sure there was no one watching. "It's morphin' time!" Ace morphed and used his suit's wings to fly to where Timaeus had sensed the darkness. When he got close, he saw Sonata and her family were fighting off a whole squad of shadowbolts! "They're not gonna last much longer!"
"So this is how we go out...", Adagio said exhausted. "Well, at least we're together." They braced for the worst as a shadowbolt prepared to strike them down, but it never came! All three opened their eyes to see Ace in ranger form.
"You three sit tight. I'll handle this!" Ace summoned his sword and charged the shadowbolts alone! "HYAH!" Ace fought them off like he was a one-man army! Slashing down shadowbolts left and right! However as the fight wore on, Ace started to drop in his performance. There were about three shadowbolts left, but engaging so many had worn Ace out and they landed a couple devastating hits! But Ace was far from finished! With all his strength he destroyed the last of the shadowbolts! He was so exhausted that he powered down right in front of Sonata and her family. Ace would have fell on his face, but Sonata caught him before he hit the ground.
"Let's get him fixed up. We owe it to him.", Adagio said as she helped Sonata lift Ace up. "He really was your knight in shining armor."
"More like my Duelist Ranger.", Sonata said with a smile. They made it back to their house and tended to Ace's wounds. Sonata stayed by his side until he woke up.
"Wh-where am I?", Ace asked as he moved slightly to get a look around him. He then noticed the bandages on his body. "Did you fix me up?"
"You fought pretty hard to save us from those monsters.", Sonata said with a smile.
"Wait! You saw me power down?! You know I'm a ranger?!"
"Me and my family saw.", Sonata answered.
"And since you were willing to go that far just to protect her, we thought you'd be a good boyfriend for her too.", Adagio said with a small smile. "Your secret's safe with us."
"Any chance you'll let us take the Megazord for a joyride?", Aria asked hopefully earning puzzled looks from Sonata and Adagio. "What? I've got a thing for giant robots."
"Sorry we couldn't enjoy our date. But this should more than make up for it. And thanks for saving me and my family.", Sonata said as she kissed Ace on the lips. "Was that a good enough reward hero?"
"Trust me. It's more precious than you could imagine.", Ace said with a smile. Ace called his mom to pick him up, and he was soon on his way home. 'I saved the day and I got the girl. Not bad at all.' Ace also informed the other rangers about what happened, and they decided Sonata and her family the command center.
"Ace. What you did was risky.", Burst said as Ace and Sonata's family entered the command center. "But it was the right thing. Good job on saving them. As for you three, welcome to the club." Burst introduced the other rangers and Sunset and her friends told the former sirens how the rangers came to be.
"How about that? My boyfriend's a super hero.", Sonata said as she hugged Ace.
Summoned Skull was running as far as he could. Escaping from Nightmare's fortress hadn't been easy, but if he could somehow get the rangers to notice him, he would be one step closer to asylum! 'Just have to make my presence known. WITHOUT attacking the city! I just hope the rangers can reach me in time...' Summoned Skull stood at the very center of Canterlot. While he hadn't done anything, people still ran in fear because of his appearance. 'Good! Hopefully this gets their attention.' Meanwhile, Inferno was enjoying the weekend until his morpher beeped.
"What's up Gold?"
"A fiend-type monster has appeared at the center of Canterlot! It hasn't attacked yet, but it seems to be waiting for something or someone. You and the other rangers better see what's going on!"
"On it!" Inferno and the other rangers were teleported to where Summoned Skull was. "Anyone got any clues as to why he isn't trashing the place?" Summoned Skull then noticed the rangers and made his way over.
"Are you the Duelist Rangers?"
"Yeah that's us. So why haven't you attacked? You sure look like one of Nightmare's minions.", Burst asked.
"I and my former king wers ripped from our world by her, but I refused to join her. However, my former ruler branded me as a traitor and imprisoned me in her fortress. I escaped, and now I seek asylum." As the group was debating what to do with Summoned Skull, Nightmare was looking at them through her crystal. Terrorking Archfiend was beside her.
"So that's where that fool escaped to. I shall destroy him and the rangers in one swoop.", Terrorking said boastfully.
"And why is Summoned Skull such a threat to you?", Nightmare asked. "I was more than willing to send him back to his world."
"Because he boasts influence among my subjects and has often defied me. And I will not let such defiance go unpunished!" Terrorking Archfiend then teleported down to Summoned Skull's location. "Face judgement traitor!"
"I think not! Lightning Strike!" Summoned Skull sent out a bolt of lightning that struck Terrorking Archfiend! "I think now would be a good time to leave!"
"Right! Gold! Warp us out of here!", Burst said through his morpher. In a flash of light, the group was teleported back to the command center. "So Skull? Care to tell us why exactly you're considered a traitor?"
"Back in my realm, I was a fiend who boasted great power and influence among my people. So much that it rivaled that of our oppressive king. Under his rule the fiends were forced to pay tributes to his rule and if they refused...terrible punishments were exacted. I led a rebellion against him and was branded as a traitor to the Archfiends."
"So that's why you came to us.", Inferno said. "Well Skull, we'll keep you safe here."
"You have my thanks.", Skull said with a small bow. "But Terrorking Archfiend is far from finished. He won't stop until he destroys me." Meanwhile, Terrorking was recovering from the wounds Summoned Skull had inflicted on him.
"Blasted Skull! You can hide for now, but I know just how to draw you out." Terrorking then began his assault on the city! He blasted everything in sight and destroyed as much as he could! "Do you hear me Skull?! I WILL LEVEL THIS WHOLE CITY IF YOU KEEP HIDDEN! YOU CANNOT ESCAPE ME!"
"Rangers! Look at the viewing globe!", Pegasus mentioned. The rangers and Skull saw Terrorking's assault!
"He's crazy!", Ace shouted. "He'll trash the whole city just to get at you!"
"Not if we can do anything about it! Let's go!", Burst said. "It's morphin' time!" The rangers morphed and teleported to Terrorking's location! "Alright you royal pain! Let's see what you've got!" Terrorking sneered.
"Time for an upgrade! I activate these two dark engergies!" Terrorking was soon holding two small orbs and crushed them to released power into him! "Now meet your demise!" The rangers summoned their own weapons and charged at him! But he blocked all of their attacks! "Hah! Weak!" Terrorking knocked them all back with a surge of dark power! "You're willing to fight me on Skull's behalf. How noble. And how very foolish!" Terrorking mercilessly attacked the rangers while they tried to recover! Striking them the second they got to their feet! Inferno charged at Terrorking full force with his sword but was sent flying into a wall!
"Nnngh!", Inferno groaned as he struggled to get back up after falling to the ground. Skull watched in rage as the rangers were being thoroughly beaten.
"Enough. I won't let them be destroyed for my sake!" Skull then teleported to Terrorkings' location. "I'm ending this now Terrorking!"
"So the traitor finally reveals himself. At least you're not a coward Skull! Face me like fiend!" The two fiends charged at each other! Each one taking a swipe with their claws and punches! But because Terrorking had powered up, Skull was soon losing the fight! "Heh. At my base power I'd stand no chance against you. But now, you're finished!" Skull was knocked onto the ground!
"If I'm going down... I might as well take you with me!" Skull charged at Terrorking and grabbed him! "Lightning Strike!" A huge bolt of lightning struck Skull and Terrorking! Skull was the first one to walk out of the smoke, and the rangers went over to him. But as the smoke fully cleared, Terrorking was still standing! "Inferno...take my power...", Skull said weakly. "Consider it a parting gift."
"What're you saying?"
"That last attack I pulled off was a self-destruct move since I called it while I was latched onto Terrorking. It didn't destroy him, but it did get rid of his power up! Take my power! End this fight!"
"Alright." Skull then put his hand on Inferno's morpher and there was a faint glow.
"Farewell...my friend...." Skull then faded away into nothing.
"The fool gave his life for nothing...", Terrorking spat.
"No he didn't!" Inferno's morpher then changed appearance! Inferno then activated its' newest power! Inferno was surrounded by a pillar of flame, and once the flames died down his whole suit was transformed! "This is the power Skull gave me! Archfiend Black Skull Ranger!" Inferno then charged at Terrorking and sent him flying with one punch! "I'm not done yet!" Inferno then summoned a new blaster! "Black Skull Blaster! Fire!" Inferno shot a powerful blast of flame that incinerated Terrorking Archfiend!
"Megamorph!", Nightmare shouted as she cast the spell that revived and grew Terrorking Archfiend!
"Inferno! Let's see what the Megazord can do with this new upgrade!", Burst said.
"Right!" The rangers called their zords and formed the megazord! "Activate Archfiend Black Skull power!" The Megazord's right arm was transformed in a flash of light, and a new weapon was in its place! "The data says its the Black Skull Knuckle! Let's test it out!"
"Just try it fools!" Terrorking boasted. The Megazord charged its fist until flames wrapped around it and charged forth!
"This one's all you Inferno!"
"BLACK SKULL KNUCKLE!", Inferno cried out as the Megazord unleashed a powerful punch that struck down Terrorking down with one punch! "You just got dethroned!" Terrorking exploded from the destructive force of the Black Skull Knuckle! The rangers returned to the command center.
"Nice job guys.", Gold said. "Skull would be proud Inferno."
"I know he would. But I hope you guys don't expect me to whip out my new power up too often!", Inferno said with a small smile. "Because then it'd be too easy."
"Well Garble, I've decided to give you your next chance.", Nightmare said. "But you'll only have one left after this. Understand?"
"Mark my words. I will not be hmiliated by those weaklings again!", Garble left to Nexus's lab to see if he could provide him with any support items. "Nexus!" The meek mage was surprised to see Garble come down to his level.
"Garble! This is a surprise."
"Save the chit-chat. Do you have any potions that can boost my strength?", Garble asked impatiently.
"Yes I do. Here it..."
"Mine.", Garble said as he snatched the potion out of Nexus's hand! "How strong will it make me?"
"Your strength should improve by half! But it's highly..." Nexus then noticed that Garble left. "Unstable. Maybe I should have told him that he'll lose strength as time goes on." Nexus sighed. "Well at least I can watch how this backfires." Garble had teleported down to the city.
"Now I'll get to have my revenge for my first defeat!", Garble said with a greedy smile as he began his attack on the city! And as expected, the rangers were alerted by Gold. Burst sighed as he heard Gold's report.
"He must be a glutton for punishment. Well, might as well take him down. It's morphin' time!" The rangers morphed and teleported to Garble's location. "Alright Garble. Ready to get your butt handed to you again?"
"Oh I don't think so Blue Eyes Ranger! This time I'LL be the won to stand victorious!", Garble said with a greedy smile as he drank the potion he had taken from Nexus. His muscles then bulked up and Garble let out a roar! "Bring it on wimps!" Garble charged at the rangers and knocked most of them to the ground!
"Okay. Now we should worry!", Shadow said. "He's faster and stronger!"
"But not smarter! We've still got the edge in brains!", Ace mentioned! "Let's see if we can use fake-out tactics!" Shadow nodded and summoned his spear and charged at Garble!
"Hah! Go ahead! Take your best shot!", Garble boasted as he prepared to take Shadow's attack head-on! But to his surprise, Shadow used his spear as a pole vault to jump over Garble and attack his back! "AGH! That it! Now you BURN!" Garble then let loose a jet of flame from his hands! Shadow rolled out of the way just in time! Garble was so focused on Shadow that he didn't notice Ace rushing towards him!
"Watch your back!", Ace said as he fired a blast of energy from his sword! "What's the matter Garble? Being too hot-headed?" Meanwhile, Nightmare and Nexus were watching the fight. They even were eating popcorn while they saw Garble flailing about.
"You know, it's pretty entertaining seeing him get his butt kicked.", Nightmare said in between mouthfuls.
"I know. Just wait until the potion wears off.", Nexus said with a smirk. "Oh look! It's starting to wear off now." Garble was panting as his muscles slowly returned to normal, but was shocked when he began to feel weaker.
"Feeling a little tuckered out Garble?", Burst asked.
"Grrr! Shut up!", Garble said as he punched Burst in the gut! But to his shock his punch had no effect! "What?"
"I'm sure you remember this position?", Burst asked as he sent Garble flying with one punch! Garble tried to flee by flying, but Burst followed by activating the wings of his suit! "Where do you think you're going? You're grounded!" Burst sent Garble hurtling to the ground with a mighty kick and a few shots from his blasters for good measure! "Had enough yet?"
"This...isn't...over!", Garble said weakly as he tried to get out of the crater that had formed from his crash. "Queen Nightmare! Give me the Megamorph!" Garble raised to his hands to the sky! Only for no spell to be sent his way. "....eh?" Garble then saw himself surrounded by the rangers. "Fine! I don't need the Megamorph! I can take you all on myself!" Garble punched at Inferno only to hurt himself. "Ow!"
"This is just sad. Look. Just fly off home to Nightmare and we won't sick the Megazord on you. Okay?" Garble just flied off screaming! "It feels weird not calling the Megazord. But I guess it can't be helped." Meanwhile, Garble had returned to Nightmare's fortress to find Nightmare and Nexus laughing hysterically at his epic fail.
"Well Garble. It looks like your gamble with that potion backfired.", Nightmare said with a giggle. Garble just fumed as he left for his quarters and hid under the sheets. "Well he's persistant. I'll give him that. Too bad his arrogance and greed are the main reason for that."
The next day, the whole school was buzzing about a new student who was going to CHS. Burst and his friends were curious about what all the excitement was about and found a guy who looked almost exactly like Ace! "Ace? Is that you? If this is a prank it was pretty funny. But cut it out now.", Burst said.
"Burst. That's not me.", Ace said as he, Sonata and Shadow approached the group. He stopped when he saw the new student. "Ice? Is that you?"
"Hey bro! Nice to see you and Shadow again.", Ice greeted. "See these are all your friends?"
"Yup. And this is my girlfriend Sonata. So are going to CHS now?"
"Sure am! So are any of your friends duelists?"
"Plenty! Oh great..."
"What is it?"
"Snips and Snails. The school's wannabe bullies.", Ace said flatly as he motioned towards the two. They then tried to make a pass at Sonata.
"Hey baby! Wanna ditch that loser and get with the baddest guys on campus?", Snips asked.
"You two really need to respect personal space.", Ice said.
"Looks like we need to teach you a lesson." Ice cracked a smile and began performing a series of martial arts moves! "Uh..a lesson we'll teach another time! Let's book Snails!" The two ran off as fast as they could.
"Works every time. See you guys around!", Ice said as he went off to classes. However, he wasn't aware that he was being watched. Back at Nightmare's fortress, the second morpher she had was glowing brightly when Ice showed up.
"So the morpher has chosen a ranger. Excellent. Soon, he will serve me.", Nightmare said as she plotted another test to see if Ice was the one the morpher chose. The school day drew to a close and Ice was on his way home. That is, until he was ambushed by a five shadowbolts.
"What the heck?!" The shadowbolts engaged him! Ice was outnumbered, but not outmatched! He was able to dodge their attacks, and took them down with no problem with a series of punches and kicks! Once they were defeated, the shadowbolts faded away. "This is too weird!" Nightmare Moon then warped before him!
"Congratulations Dark Ice! You have been chosen!"
"What?!", Ice noticed he couldn't move! Nightmare was holding him in place with her magic! "Nooo!" Ice screamed as he was teleported to Nightmare's fortress! Once there he was stuck inside a swirl of darkness.
"It's time. Rise Dark Ice!" The swirl of darkness faded away and Dark Ice stood mindless like a zombie.
"What is your command my queen?"
"Take this morpher. It has chosen you! Use its power to defeat the Duelist Rangers! Now, morph into the Red Dragon Archfiend Ranger!" Dark Ice nodded and morphed!
"To the end of the Duelist Rangers! And the rule of eternal night!" Ice was then returned to earth in his normal form.
"Remember to keep your ranger powers a secret.", Nightmare said before she returned to her fortress. Ice returned home as if nothing had happened, and unaware that his brothers were the very enemy Nightmare wanted him to fight.
The next day...
The next day, Nightmare had sent out a new monster to attack the city. This time it was a spellcaster-type monster called Chaos Sorcerer. The rangers teleported to where Chaos Magician was attacking.
"Ah! The rangers! NOW it's a party!", Chaos Magician then fired a flurry of magical blasts! The rangers were able to dodge most of them but a few stray ones hit their marks!
"This guy's crazy!", Ace shouted as Chaos Magician was blasting away at their cover.
"He is called Chaos Magician.", Inferno said. "Anyone got any clue how we can beat this guy?"
"Here's one!", Steel said as he charged at Chaos Magician and then slid under him to strike while he was off guard! "Now guys!" The other rangers then closed in and unleashed an all-out attack! Destroying Chaos Magician!
"The time has come Dark Ice! Morph!", Nightmare commanded Ice. She then turned her attention to Chaos Sorcerer. "Megamorph!" The spell was cast and Chaos Sorcerer was revived and grown!
"We need Megazord power!", Burst cried out as the rangers summoned and combined their zords! "Let's take him down!" Chaos Sorcerer sent a volley of magic blasts their way, but Steel's shield absorbed it!
"Let's see how he likes a taste of his own medicine!" The shield glowed with light and a beam sent right at Chaos Sorcerer! Destroying him with his own attack! "Score one for us!" Then out of nowhere, a new ranger appeared!
"Time for them to meet the Red Dragon Archfiend Ranger!", Ice said as he jumped on top of the Megazord! He then made his way to the cockpit! The other rangers were shocked!
"What?!", Ace said as he noticed the new ranger.
"Long live Queen Nightmare!" Ice then launched an attack from inside the Megazord! The resulting damage sent the rangers flying out of the Megazord! They landed, and Ice followed.
"The rest of you get out of here!", Burst cried out! "I'll keephim busy!" The other rangers teleported back to the command center while Burst faced off against Ice! "If you're a ranger then why are you working with Nightmare Moon?!"
"She commands. I obey!" Ice charged at Burst and delivered a strong punch! Burst blocked it and countered with his own series of punches! But Ice blocked every one of them and tried to land a kick, but Burst caught his foot and threw him! Ice recovered only to receive a kick from Burst! While Ice was still dazed, Burst unleashed a series of hits on Ice! Ice then knocked Burst back with a blast of flame!
"You and I are pretty evenly matched. But now to end this!" Ice then began to charge up as flames wrapped around his fist! "Absolute Power Force!" Burst noticed this and powered up his own attack!
"White Lightning!" The two attacks collided, and there was a flash of light! When the light died down, Burst was almost on his knees.
"My job's done. You're defeated." Ice then teleported away to his home and powered down. Ace and Shadow soon arrived at home. "Hey you two. Anything interesting happen?"
"Nope. Just a regular day.", Ace said covering up the fact that they had just beaten an evil monster and gotten their rears handed to them by Ice in his ranger form.
"Huh. Cool." Ace and Shadow then contacted Gold and the other rangers while they were alone
"Who was that guy?"
"Dad mentioned two of the morphers were stolen. Nightmare used her magic on one and Garble fused with it. Giving him the form you know now. The other one must have chosen a ranger and Nightmare must be controlling them. Burst was able to hold them off, so we know he's pretty strong. We'd best be careful. Something tells me this Red Dragon Archfiend Ranger will strike pretty soon."
"Man! That new ranger was pretty strong! He even survived a fight with you Burst and you're the strongest of us!", Inferno mentioned as he and the rangers were discussing their last battle with the Main 7 at lunch. "Where did this guy even come from?"
"I don't think we're even close to finding that out Inferno. One thing's for sure. We haven't seen the last of him. He's serving Nightmare Moon. And you can bet we'll be facing him during the next monster attack."
"But he's a ranger! He should be on your side!", Rainbow said. "Why would he work for Nightmare Moon?"
"Nightmare Moon stole two of the duel morphers. And from the looks of things this new ranger received the second stolen morpher."
"Wait. The second morpher? Who got the first stolen morpher?", Applejack asked.
"Garble got it, but Nightmare used her magic to drive out the previous duel monster spirit that inhabited it. Garble's monster partner took over, and instead of becoming a ranger he fused with his monster partner. Which is why he looks the way he does."
"So what're you gonna do?", Sunset asked.
"We'll have to fight this new ranger. Maybe if we defeat him we can break whatever spell Nightmare put on him. If we can even land a hit." The rangers soon received an alert on their morphers. "What's up Gold?"
"Nightmare sent Garble and the Red Dragon Archfiend Ranger to attack the city!"
"We're on it! Sorry girls! Duty calls!" Burst and the rangers left to confront Garble and the Red Dragon Ranger. They morphed and teleported to their location.
"Just follow my lead ranger boy.", Garble hissed at Ice.
"Yeah. Follow the guy who's gotten his tail handed to him."
"We weren't ready last time, but now you can't catch us by surprise! Let's go guys!" Burst and the others charged at Garble and Ice! Inferno, Steel, and Shadow engaged Garble while Burst and Ace took on Ice! Burst came at him with a punch but Ice blocked it! Ace came at him with his sword, but he caught it and flipped the two of them over before making his own assault! Meanwhile, Garble wasn't faring as well against Inferno and the others! Steel and Shadow were going at him close-range with their melee weapons while Inferno rained down blaster shots when he leaped into the air!
"That's it! You're on your own!", Garble said to Ice as he teleported back to Nightmare's Fortress!
"Good. Now I get to have more fun!" Ice then summoned his own weapons! "Power Force Surge!" Ice plunged his sword into the ground and created an energy shock-wave that knocked back the rangers! He then executed a series of slashes as they were falling! The rangers managed to find the strength to stand, and mounted on last charge at Ice! "You've got guts. Absolute Power Force!" Ice wrapped his fist in flame and unleashed a gigantic fireball that engulfed the rangers! The damage was so severe that it caused them to power down. Ice was about to go in for the final blow, but stopped when he saw their faces! In specific, the faces of his brothers! Ice froze in horror of what he almost did! "Ace...Shadow!" Ace and Shadow were shocked when Ice recognized them!
"How do you know who we are?", Ace demanded.
"No...No...No! AARRGGH!", Ice clutched his head! 'They're my brothers! My family! I can't destroy them! I won't!' The warring state of his mind was so intense that it caused Ice to phase in and out of his ranger form! And Ace and Shadow were shocked to find out the Red Dragon Ranger's identity!
"No...it can't be! Ice!", Shadow said as he witnessed Ice's inner conflict!
"Stay....away from me!", Ice said in pain as he teleported back to Nightmare's fortress! Once he was there, he was writhing in pain as he powered down! "Won't....hurt them!" Nightmare noticed Ice's current state and decided to have a word with him.
"Leave us.", she commanded those attending her. "Is there something wrong Ice?"
"Won't...destroy...the rangers!", Ice grunted as he struggled against the spell Nightmare was using to control him.
"I never said you HAD to destroy them, but do tell." Nightmare sounded legitimately interested.
"The Timaeus and Dragluon Rangers...are my brothers! I...won't hurt them!" Nightmare was shocked! And then, she did the unexpected.
"Ice. Hold still." Nightmare focused her magic, and slowly Ice began to stop writhing in pain. "There that should do it. You're free now." Ice couldn't believe it! Why would Nightmare undo the spell that allowed her to control her best warrior?!
"Why? Why did you release me?!", Ice demanded!
"No one should be forced to be apart from their family." Nightmare's thoughts then drifted back to when Celestia had first banished her and Luna. And the long time Luna missed her sister. "No one...should ever have to know that pain. Return home Dark Ice. There is no longer any reason for you to stay here." Ice still was in shock that Nightmare was so willing to let him go, but he wasn't about to question it. He teleported back to earth. Meanwhile, the rangers and the Main 7 were talking about the shocking identity of the Red Dragon Ranger.
"That's so awful!", Fluttershy sobbed. "Ice had to fight his own brothers!"
"How could anyone be so terrible?!", Rarity asked in shock.
"Nightmare was the reason Princess Luna was separated from her sister for a thousand years. She's good at tearing families apart.", Sunset said coldly.
"Then that settles it! We have to free Ice from her control!", Ace said as he slammed his fist on the table the group was sitting at. "You saw what happened to him once he saw Shadow and I powered down! He was fighting against himself! There's still a chance we can save him!"
"That won't be necessary.", Ice said as he addressed the group. All of them were caught off guard by Ice showing up.
"Here to give us a warning if we don't surrender?!", Steel spat.
"Actually, I'm here to see if your team has an extra slot."
"Why should we let you join when you just tried to waste our friends?!", Rainbow countered.
"Because Nightmare released her control over me. After I saw Ace and Shadow's faces, I teleported away. I didn't want to hurt them. Surprisingly, Nightmare showed genuine concern for why I left the battle. I told her why I had left, and she actually looked horrified about what I would have done. Then she undid whatever magic she used to control me and sent me back." Applejack walked up to him and examined him.
"He ain't lyin'. He's telling the truth. Not one lie outta' his mouth." Burst walked up to Ice.
"Ice. We know what you did wasn't you in control of your own actions. You're in control of your power now. Stand with us, and we can defeat Nightmare Moon!"
"After what I've done, you'd still accept me?"
"Some of us have experience with dark pasts.", Sunset said. "But we had great friends to help us past them. Let us do the same for you Ice."
"Come on bro. We need you!", Ace pleaded. Ice managed a small smile and shook Burst's hand.
"I'm in!" Burst smiled and contacted Gold to tell him the good news.
"Gold. We found out who the sixth ranger was. And to top it all off he's been freed from Nightmare's control. He's with us now."
"Great news guys! Now we've got a stronger team!"
Meanwhile on Nightmare's fortress...
"I can't believe it! Now Ice has joined the rangers!", Garble fumed as he gazed furiously at Ice and the rangers together. "Nightmare! Tell me you had some sort of back-up plan to steal his powers in case this happened!"
"Nope.", Nightmare answered with a sly smile. "No back-up plan."
"WHY?"
"I'm evil Garble. Not heartless. Just send a random monster to attack. I'm done for the day." Nightmare then went to her own room with a small smile on her face. 'I'm glad you could find happiness Ice...'
Garble fumed to himself as he summoned an insect-type monster called Dreadscythe Harvester to attack the city. "And just to save us the trouble, Megamorph!" Dreadscythe grew to gigantic size and began his attack on the city! The rangers received an alert from Gold informing them of the attack.
"By the way guys, there's a new Megazord formation! Ice, Shadow, and Ace's zords can combine to form the Tri-Dragon Megazord! Ice! Try calling your zord!"
"Right! Red Dragon Archfiend Zord!" As Ice called it's name, Red Dragon came up from a crevice in the earth and took off into the sky leaving a trail of flame! Ace and Shadow summoned their zords from the forest and sea! The three of them jumped into their zords while they began to form the new Megazord configuration! Ice's zord formed the main body and legs while Ace and Shadow's zords formed the right and left arms respectively. "Tri-Dragon Megazord online!"
"Time to cut you down to size rangers!", Dreadscythe Harvester bellowed as he charged at the rangers with his weapon! Tri-Dragon Megazord dodged by leaping into the air!
"Lets see how our bug zapper works! Shadow!"
"Right! Dragluon Thunder!" The cannon on Shadow's zord unleashed a blast of thunder that fried Dreadscythe Harvester!
"Let's end this together Ice!", Ace said.
"Wouldn't want to end this any other way! Final Strike! Thunder Blaze Power Force!" Tri-Dragon Megazord charged up its cannon until flames and lightning were dancing around it! "FIRE!" A mighty blast of energy was sent out that destroyed Dreadscythe Harvester in a miassive explosion! The rangers took Ice to the command center. Pinkie was throwing Ice a "Welcome to the Rangers" party.
"Welcome to the team Ice!", his brothers cheered.
"I love being a ranger.", Ice said as he and his new friends celebrated him joining the team.
"Burst Stream. Please report to Principal Celestia's office. Thank you.", The intercom blared. Burst wasn't sure why he was being called up, but he figured there was no use fighting it as he made his way to Celestia's office. "You wanted to see me?"
"Yes Burst. If I recall correctly, you were one of the students who was still inside the school during the attack a week ago. Correct?"
"Yeah. I was there and so were Sunset and her friends. The rest of my friends were there too. What's that have to do with anything?"
"I'm just making sure you've recovered. An experience like that must have been shocking."
"It would have been. If it weren't for the Duelist Rangers showing up when they did."
"Yes. I think we're incredibly lucky they showed up. Especially the Blue Eyes Ranger.", Celestia said with a fond smile before snapping back to reality. "You can leave now." Burst shrugged and returned to his classes. Lunch period soon came and Burst met up with his friends to tell them what had happened in Celestia's office.
"That was close! Could you imagine if she found out you were a ranger?", Sunset said.
"On a side note though...", Inferno said with a sly smile. "It looks like Burst is into older women!"
"Not cool Inferno!"
"Come on! I've seen you stare at her! Don't play innocent. You like her!"
"Well...she is quite attractive.", Burst said with a slight blush. "And she is pretty nice." Burst then noticed the looks his friends were giving him and decided to change the subject. "Anyway, there haven't been any attacks on the city today. Isn't that the least bit weird?"
"...Maybe Nightmare's on vacation?", Shadow suggested.
"Either that or she's planning something.", Ace added. Meanwhile on Nightmare's fortress, she was busy scrolling through TV stations on her crystal.
"Shouldn't I be doing something? Oh right. Planning an attack. Hm. I've attacked the city so much. Maybe I need to change things up." Nightmare then focused on CHS. "Maybe I'll try kidnapping the principal. That should be good change of pace." Nightmare then saw who the principal was. "Oh this is just too good! This world's Celestia is the principal of the rangers' school! And knowing how beloved Celestia was back in Equestria, the same could be said of her counterpart. The rangers are sure to come to her rescue! Now which monster to send this time?" Nightmare looked through and found the perfect monster to send in. "Ah! Perfect! The Dragonic Knight!" Nightmare summoned the monster to her fortress.
"Is there a way I can be of service milady?", Dragonic Knight asked.
"Head to earth and kidnap this woman.", Nightmare said as she showed an image of Celestia to Dragonic Knight. "Once you have her, the Duelist Rangers are sure to face you. I know of your desire to duel strong opponents."
"Ah! You seek to give me a challenge! I accept your request!" Dragonic Knight teleported to earth. Meanwhile the school day had come to an end, and the rangers were on their way home. Burst caught Celestia heading to her car, and Inferno took the chance to tease him about it. Burst shook it off, but noticed a figure was preparing to swipe down on Celestia! Acting purely on instinct, Burst pushed her to get her out of the way! Dragonic Knight landed and addressed the two of them.
"I've no quarrel with you boy. Give me the woman and no harm shall befall you."
"If you want to take her you'll have to go through me!" Burst then got into a fighting stance! "Principal Celestia, get to safety!"
"You're willing to put your life on the line for your maiden. I respect your resolve! As a creature of honor, I shall challenge you on equal ground! But make no mistake, I'll hold nothing back!" Dragonic Knight laid down his sword and shield. "Have at you!" Burst and Dragonic Knight charged at each other! Dragonic Knight took a swing at Burst, but Burst dodged and landed a few punches on Dragonic Knight and finished his attack with a powerful upper cut! Dragonic Knight then used his tail to try and sweep Burst off of his feet! Burst saw it coming and jumped over it and executed a kick that knocked Dragonic Knight back! Celestia was watching Burst fight off the monster that tried to kidnap her from relative safety.
'He's incredibly brave! He's taking on a monster that the rangers would deal with!', Celestia thought to herself. As the fight wore on, Burst was showing signs of slowing down.
"I...think...it's time to take it up a notch!" Burst then activated his morpher! "Blue Eyes White Dragon!" Burst morphed into his ranger form! "Now we can both fight to our fullest extent!" Burst summoned his own sword! "Let's have a real duel now!" Celestia couldn't believe what she saw! One of her students was a Duelist Ranger! And the one she had a crush on!
"A worthy challenge through and through!", Dragonic Knight said as he picked up his sword. "Let the battle begin anew!" The two charged at each other! Dragonic Knight took the first strike, but Burst blocked it with his own sword! "Impressive! Blue Eyes choose a worthy partner!"
"I'm just getting started!", Burst replied as he pushed Dragonic Knight back and landed a series of slashes across Dragonic Knight's chest! "Dragon Strike!" Burst charged his sword with energy and released a bolt of energy that looked like Blue Eyes at Dragonic Knight! Dragonic Knight shielded himself, but the attack broke his shield and sent him flying! Burst was about to close in for the final blow, but was stopped when Dragonic Knight bowed to him.
"I admit defeat. Nightmare Moon was correct when she said you rangers would provide me with a worthy challenge. I have long sought an opponent who could defeat me, and I have met my match. Farewell young hero! May you be triumphant in your mission!" Dragonic Knight then returned to the monster world through a portal.
"Well that was a nice change of pace. A monster we didn't need to destroy.", Burst said with a smile under his helmet. "Better see if Celestia's all right."
"I'd say I'm more than all right.", Celestia said with a smile as she walked up to Burst as she came out of her hiding place. "My hero."
"Just doing my job ma'am."
"You don't have to hide your face from me Burst." Burst was shocked! She'd seen him morph?! Burst then powered down.
"Hope this isn't too much of let down. I'm guessing you saw me morph?"
"I did. But, how did you become a ranger?"
"It was during the attack on the school. Pegasus told us that the morphers had chosen us. My friends and I each took the morpher that chose us and became the Duelist Rangers. Since then we've been defending the city."
"Does anyone else know your secret?"
"Sunset and her friends know. And I guess you know now too."
Celestia smiled. "In that case, are you free right now?" Burst was stunned!
"Are...are you asking me out?"
"I've noticed you staring at me from time to time. I kind of like it that you show interest in me. And just now you proved you were more than willing to protect me. That, and you look much more handsome without that helmet covering your face. So how about it?" Burst was beaming with happiness.
"Principal Celestia, it would be my honor. But there's somewhere I should take you first. Burst and Celestia teleported to the command center, and Burst revealed how Celestia knew their secret. "So know we've got another person who knows our secret." Inferno was the first to find his voice.
"So can we get special passes for battling monsters?" He was then lightly punched in the arm by Ace.
"One thing I must ask.", Pegasus said as he addressed Celestia. "Can we trust you to keep our secret?"
"The rangers are my students. I'll guard their secret with my life."
"Welcome to the club!" Pinkie cheered.
"You know Burst, I think you deserve a reward for being such a good hero.", Celestia said with a smile.
"What did you have in mind?", Burst asked. He got his answer when Celestia kissed him! He was surprised at first, but enjoyed it nonetheless. "You know, that was my first kiss."
"Glad you enjoyed it.", Celestia said with a smile. The rest of their friends all snapped a picture of that moment and collectively 'aawwed.'
It was just another day for the rangers, and their school week had just ended. They had fought another one of Nightmare's monsters and saved the city. Gold watched from the monitors, happy that his friends were victorious!
"Garble's been sent packing Gold! We're headed back to the command center!", Burst said.
"Right. I'll be waiting on you." Gold's thoughts then turned to the rangers' opponent. 'Garble. Sombra.', Gold thought with a scowl. He remembered when Garble and Sombra had attacked him and his father while they were searching for worthy rangers to wield the morphers. 'You two hurt me and my adopted father. The man who's loved me as his own son and you nearly took him away from me! Never again!' Gold then turned his thoughts to the training he had been doing to prepare for the next time the two of them showed up. 'Next time I see those two, that'll be the time for me to face them.' The rangers returned to the command center.
"Hey Gold? You alright? You look upset.", Inferno asked.
"Oh! Nothing! Just a little tired of staring at Garble showing up so much."
"Huh. Well, tell us if something's got you riled up. We're more than just a team. We're your friends. Remember that."
"Thanks Inferno."
The next day...
Nightmare was sitting at her crystal when Garble stormed in! "Nightmare! I want another shot at the rangers! Let me destroy them once and for all!" Nightmare sighed as Garble ranted.
"Fine. But I'm sending someone with you this time. Sombra?" Sombra materialized from the shadows. He was wearing plain armor and a royal looking cape.
"Yes my queen?"
"Babysit Garble while you engage the rangers."
"Babysit?!", Garble growled! "Why do I need him to watch over me?!"
"Because he's served me longer than you. Also he's not greed prone like you are when you get a chance to fight the rangers." Garble was fuming as he and Sombra teleported to earth. Meanwhile at the command center, Gold had picked up on Sombra and Garble arriving on earth.
"Now's my chance!" Gold headed for the teleporter and locked onto their coordinates. "Those two are going to pay for hurting my family!" Gold teleported to their location! "Garble! Sombra!" The two villains turned to face Gold.
"Hey, aren't you the brat that was hanging around Pegasus when we stole those morphers! Come to get another beating?", Garble asked with a sneer.
"You attacked me and my dad! I won't let you hurt anyone else!" Gold charged at Garble! He managed to land a hit, but it had no effect on Garble at all!
"Heh heh! My turn!" Garble punched Gold so hard it sent him flying! As he was about to strike, Gold punched Garble right in the face! "Agh! You brat!" Garble lunged at Gold but Sombra stopped him.
"You need to control that temper of yours Garble. No wonder Nightmare had me babysit you.", Sombra said with a neutral expression.
"You uptight-!" Garble found himself silenced by Sombra's magic.
"I must applaud you for facing us. You're either brave or foolish to take me on. Truth be told I was expecting the rangers to fight me. Since you're so determined, try and beat me. Make me regret attacking you and your father. If you can.", Sombra said with a smirk.
"Rrraaaagh!", Gold roared as he charged at Sombra. Meanwhile at the command center, Celestia and the girls had arrived. Sunset then noticed that Gold was nowhere to be found.
"Weird...", Sunset said. "Let's check the monitor." Sunset and the girls scrolled between the different sites the monitor could observe, and found Gold taking on Sombra alone! "Contact the guys! Gold's in trouble!" Back at the fight, Gold was starting to wear down and Sombra noticed.
"Time to end this game.", Sombra said as he fired a blast of dark magic that knocked Gold to the ground! "It's over..." Sombra summoned a sword made of magic and prepared to strike, but it was knocked out of his hand by a blaster shot!
"That's enough!", Burst said as he and the rangers arrived on the scene!
"We're leaving Garble.", Sombra said as he and Garble warped back to Nightmare's fortress. Burst and the rangers went to check up on Gold.
"Anything broken?", Burst asked.
"A little roughed up, but I'm fine.", Gold replied.
"In that case....WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!", Burst then powered down. "Gold, you could have been seriously hurt or worse! What in the world made you think you could take those two on?!"
"You don't understand. Garble and Sombra attacked my dad and I to make a grab for the morphers! They almost made me lose him, and I can't forgive them for that!"
"I can understand why you feel that way, but that's no excuse to be reckless! Gold, what would Pegasus do if he ever lost you? What would happen to Sunset?"
Gold froze for a second before he replied."Next time I'll-"
"There won't be a next time." Burst sighed. "Gold, I'm the leader of this team. That means I'm responsible for everyone's safety. Not just my friends who are rangers but the ones who know out secret and are close to us. And you're among that group."
"Try to understand, we just don't want you getting hurt.", Inferno added.
"...I get it."
"I hope you do. We're just trying to look out for you." Gold and the rangers then teleported back to the command center. Sunset rushed to Gold when they returned.
"Gold!", she said as she pulled him into a tight hug. "Are you alright?"
"I'm okay. Nothing broken or any major injuries."
"All the same, I'm gonna fix you up. Fluttershy, help me out." The rangers watched as Sunset and Fluttershy tended to Gold's injuries.
"You have to admit Burst. He held his own for a good while.", Steel mentioned. "You think Pegasus could make him a ranger?"
"You're right Steel. He was able to hold off Sombra for a good while. But he's got the wrong drive. He's got a vendetta against Sombra and Garble for attacking him and his dad. And like we saw today, that made him reckless when he was looking for payback. I'm going to talk to him later. Some of you should keep an eye on him in-case he tries another stunt like that. As for the ranger part, Pegasus told me he was making a new series of morphers. But for who they're for he didn't say. Only that he'd unveil them when the time was right." Meanwhile Sunset and Fluttershy had just finished bandaging up Gold.
"There. You should be back to full strength pretty soon.", Susnet said. "You're lucky Burst and the others showed up when they did."
"Tell me about it." Sunset's expression turned serious.
"Gold, I think the reason you're fighting is a good one. To protect your family, your friends, your home. But you're being driven by the wrong reasons."
"What do you mean?"
"You're fighting out of revenge for them attacking you and your dad.", Sunset said with a small frown. "All of us can understand why you'd do that, but it makes you reckless. You and I found each other Gold, both of us were from Equestria. And I don't want to lose you and neither does your dad!" Sunset was tearing up. Gold felt ashamed he had put her through such distress. "Just promise me that you won't try something that crazy again. Or at the very least, promise to come back safe." Gold pulled her into a loving embrace.
"I promise Sunset. I won't try anything too crazy again. And if I do, I promise to come back safe." Gold then pulled her into a kiss. "I love you."
"I know.", Sunset said with a smile. Back on Nightmare's fortress, Garble was fuming!
"You smug little-!"
"Silence Garble.", Nightmare commanded.
"But Sombra hogged the whole fight!"
"And proved he was a superior warrior to you in every regard."
"But I've got brute strength on my side!"
"Apparently that's all you have going for you. Now I'm glad I decided to make Sombra my second in command. He's proven himself more capable today in fact."
"He turned tail the second the rangers showed up!"
"And he knew he stood no chance. A warrior must have brains as well as brawn. There's nothing more to say on the matter, so stop complaining.", Nightmare said sternly. "As for Sombra, congratulations on your first outing."
"You flatter me my queen."
"Your performance was so admirable I've decided you shall lead the next attack."
"Thank you my queen." Sombra bowed and took his leave. 'The rangers look like strong opponents. This should be amusing. I think Nightmare should be wary of that punk Garble. He seems...unstable to say the least.' The next day came, and Sombra led a squadron of shadowbolts to attack the city. "This should bring out the rangers in no time." At the command center, Gold saw Sombra and his minions on the monitor.
"Guys come in! Sombra's attacking the city!"
"We're on it Gold!", Inferno said. Gold's thoughts then turned to the upcoming battle.
'Sombra was the one who stole the morphers. Maybe I can pump some information out of him! Sorry Sunset. But it looks like I might have to break one of my promises!' Gold teleported to Sombra's location. "Sombra!"
"Oh. The kid from yesterday. Come for a rematch?"
"I want you to answer a question. How do we get back the other morpher?", Gold asked with a determined look on his face.
"You're quite fortunate.", Sombra said with a small smile. "Your goal coincides with mine."
"What do you mean?"
"Garble is unstable, and I fear he may turn on Nightmare. Also, he went too far in stealing the morphers. Nightmare's orders were to merely disable your vehicle and incapacitate you with sleep spells. However, Garble disobeyed and went for a straight attack. There is a gem on his forehead armor. Destroy it and the morpher will be released from Garble. In fact, I'm going to give you and the rangers just the chance you need. Queen Nightmare? I believe this mission is not suited for my abilities. Perhaps brute strength such as Garble's is in order?"
"Your request is odd, but not out of the question Sombra. Return to the fortress. Garble will take your place shortly." Sombra nodded and he teleported away and was replaced with Garble.
"Looks like Nightmare came to her senses!", Garble said with a sneer. "Alright boys! Let's wreak some havoc!"
"You won't be wreaking anything!", Burst said as he and the rangers showed up. He then noticed Gold. "Gold?! What're you doing here?!"
"Sombra gave me some useful information on how to get the morpher back! The gem on Garble's forehead is what's binding the morpher to him! Destroy it and the morpher is freed!" Burst gave a sigh of relief.
"I'm glad you found that out. And that you didn't try anything reckless. You heard Gold! Aim for that gem on Garble's forehead! But focus on the shadowbolts first!" Burst and the others tore through the shadow bolts with a barrage of blaster fire! Garble just sneered at the sight.
"Time to give myself a power-up!" Garble pulled out a small gem. "Dragon Treasure!" Garble broke the gem and was soon flooded with a small boost in power. "This should let me be able to take even you on Blue Eyes Ranger!" Garble charged and actually managed to send Burst flying with a powerful kick! "So who's next?"
"Time for me to go all-out!" Inferno activated his Black Skull mode! "Archfiend Black Skull Ranger!" Inferno and Garble fired blasts of flame, but they snuffed each other out! "Not good! Looks like our strengths are equal!"
"Wanna bet?" Garble executed a powerful punch that pushed Inferno back even when he blocked! "I'm above all of you now! In fact, I'll take any attack you throw at me!" Inferno unleashed another blast of flame, but Garble was unscathed! Steel slashed at Garble, but his sword didn't even make a dent! Ace and Shadow charged at him and landed a hit with their weapons, but they didn't even scratch him! Garble then summoned a blast of flame that knocked them all back! "None of you are a threat to me now!" Burst was watching the battle as he recovered from the shock of Garble's blow.
"This isn't good! That power increase gave him just enough strength to send us flying!" Gold then had an idea!
"Too bad he's lacking in the brains department! We just need to trick him into letting his guard down!"
"Gold. You're a genius!" Burst then walked over to Garble. "Hey Garble!" Garble turned his attention to Burst. "That treasure gave you quite the boost. I bet you could even take a charged shot from my blaster without it and still come out fine!"
Garble sneered. "Finally admitting defeat huh? Good. In fact, I think you're right! I'll just get rid of the dragon treasure and tank a charged shot from your blaster! Come at me!" Burst walked up to Garble and began charging his blaster. Garble stood with a smug grin and open arms and closed eyes preparing to take a shot to the chest. But when Garble opened his eyes to see his triumph, he was greeted with a blaster barrel to the forehead! "What th-?!"
"Jackpot.", Burst said as he fired the charged shot at Garble's forehead! The force of the blast destroyed the gem and a blinding light went off! Once it faded, Garble slowly got up. He was furious!
"You'll pay for that!" Garble snarled as he began to charge at Burst! But then he noticed that his armor was starting to fade! "What?! No. NO!" Garble's armor was destroyed, and there was an orb of crimson light floating above him. The orb then flew towards Gold and stopped in front of him! Gold reached his hand out to the orb, and in a flash of light the second stolen morpher was on his wrist. It resembled Gold's monster partner. Crimson Dragon!
"I'm sure you know what to do?", Burst asked. Gold smiled as he uttered the famous words.
"IT'S MORPHIN' TIME! Crimson Dragon!" In a flash of light, a figure wearing armor similar to Burst's stood! Instead of white, this ranger's armor was a brilliant crimson and the wings were made of crystals! "Crimson Dragon Ranger!", Gold cried out proudly! "Your choice Garble! We can do this the easy way, or the hard way!" Garble looked like he was about to put up a fight, and then he ran away as fast as he could! "Hmph. Just like any other bully. Let's head back to the command center." The rangers teleported back to the command center, and found that Pegasus had joined the girls in waiting for them. Burst powered down and went to kiss Celestia, Inferno kissed Rarity, and Ace was nearly crushed as Sonata hugged him. Shadow and Ice powered down and tried to pry her off before he turned blue. Sunset then noticed the seventh ranger that was among the group.
"So who's your new friend?" Gold smiled as he took off his helmet.
"Hey beautiful." Sunset rushed up and kissed him! "Looks like you don't need to be worried about me getting hurt now, huh?" Pegasus watched with a fond smile.
"Gold my son. You've risen to the occasion." Gold smiled as he powered down. The duel monster partners of the other rangers greeted their lost comrade.
"And now we've got a new friend to join the fight. Welcome to the rangers Gold!", Burst said proudly. Pinkie then busted out her party cannon and the whole group celebrated!
"Man. What a crazy weekend.", Burst said as he came home from the party at the command center. "I'm just glad the day's over." Burst ate dinner, showered, and went off to bed after playing some video games. 'I guess I'm living out that dream I had as a little kid...', Burst thought with a smile as he drifted off into dreams and memories. Nightmare was watching him, and smiled when she saw he was dreaming.
"Time to pay Burst another visit. Last time was pretty fun." Nightmare jumped into Burst's dreams and found herself in front of a door. "Odd. Why would he dream about a door?" Nightmare opened the door, and found herself in a room full of posters of characters and toys. A voice caught her by surprise.
"Hello." Nightmare looked at the bed and found a little kid who looked like Burst! "Who are you?"
'Oh my Celestia...he's so adorable!', Nightmare thought to herself. "Call me...Nightshade. What's your name?"
"Burst Stream!", Burst said with a smile. "So do you like my room? Pretty cool right?"
"It's quite lovely.", Nightmare said with a smile. She then turned her attention to the posters above Burst's bed. "So can you tell me who those people on the posters are?" Little Burst was grinning ear to ear.
"That one's Optimus Prime! The heroic leader of the Autobots! He fights for the freedom of all sentient beings from the evil Decepticons!", Burst said as he pointed to each character. "This is Goku! The Earth's greatest protector! He's in his super saiyan mode in this poster! And the last one is Luke Skywalker! He's a Jedi Knight and a defender of the galaxy!" Nightmare watched with a smile at Little Burst's enthusiasm. "Someday I'm gonna be just like them!"
"A poster?", Nightmare said with a giggle.
"Nope! I'm gonna be a superhero! I'm gonna save people, fight badguys, and save the day!" Burst struck a triumphant pose. Nightmare had a smile on her face as she heard his words.
'You already are Burst. More than you know.', Nightmare thought as she smiled.
"Nightshade?", Burst asked. "Do you wanna play with me?" Burst offered her one of the toy lightsabers lying around. Nightmare smiled as she took the lightsaber.
"Have at you young jedi!" The two of them clashed pretending they were having an epic duel on a faraway planet! Nightmare was taller, but Burst had the edge in energy! He soon claimed victory with one final strike! "Curses!", Nightmare said feigning a mortal blow. "I am vanquished!" Burst giggled and hugged her as she went down to his level. "So what would you like to play next?" Burst whipped out some of his favorite transformers figures and the two battled it out in an epic clash between Optimus Prime and Megatron.
"One shall stand, one shall fall!", Burst said as he took down Nightmare's Megatron figure! Burst then let out a yawn.
"Is the great Autobot commander feeling tired?", Nightmare asked.
"I'm not...(yawn) tired." Burst rubbed his eyes.
"Even young heroes need their sleep."
"I guess you're right." Burst got into his bed and pulled the covers over himself. "Nightshade? Will I see you again?" Nightmare brought herself closer to Burst.
"You'll always see me when you dream." Nightmare then kissed Burst on the forehead. "Good night Burst."
"Good night Nightshade." Burst said as his younger self drifted off to sleep. Nightmare then left Burst's dreams and returned to the real world.
"Sleep well Burst Stream." Nightmare said with a smile as she drifted off to sleep herself.
Episode 12: Honor between rivals! Rise of the Super Soldier!
"I'm looking for powerful warriors such as you. Ones that bear some sense of honor. Do you know of any?"
"I know of a great ninja who could be of service. He is known as Ninja Grandmaster Hanzo."
"How interesting. I'll bring him to our world and see if he wants to challenge the rangers." Nightmare opened a portal and Grandmaster Hanzo came through. "Are you the ninja known as Grandmaster Hanzo?"
"That is my name. Why have you summoned me?"
"There is a group of warriors I wish for you to challenge. Keep in mind, I don't expect you to defeat them. They are known as the Duelist Rangers."
"Are they honorable opponents?"
"I find it off one who operates in the shadows would be interested in that, but they are."
"Regardless of our tactics, we ninja have a code of honor that we adhere to. Also, I sense the presence of an old friend here. One who promised me a final duel. Farewell." Hanzo vanished in a puff of smoke as he traveled to earth. He soon landed on top of a building in Canterlot. 'Black Luster Soldier my old friend. It is time I return what is rightfully yours.' Hanzo pulled out what looked like ancient armor. Garble watched the whole exchange with an evil smile.
"Time to make my own plans." Garble then opened a portal to the monster world and a samurai with demonic red eyes emerged. "Great Shogun Shien. Your enemy, Ninja Grandmaster Hanzo is here in my world. I know he's a threat to your reign. Now, you have a chance to eliminate him. Interested?" Shien had a demonic smile on his face as he vanished in a pillar of flame to earth. Meanwhile, the rangers and the girls had noticed Hanzo's arrival.
"He isn't attacking the city, but I think he's expecting us. Let's not keep him waiting! It's morphin' time!", Burst said as he and the rangers morphed and teleported to Hanzo's location. Hanzo sensed their presence, and bowed to them after he turned to face them.
"Greetings. I am Ninja Grandmaster Hanzo. I have been sent by Nightmare Moon to fight you. But there is only one among you I wish to face."
"Not that we aren't grateful, but why haven't you attacked the city?", Burst asked. Hanzo's memories flashed back to when his village was attacked by Shien's forces. None were spared. Not even children.
"The people going about their lives have no business in our battle. As for who I wish to challenge." Hanzo pointed to Steel. "You who wear armor similar to the Black Luster Soldier. Is his spirit with you?" Steel nodded as BLS's spirit materialized.
"Good to see you again Hanzo. How's the latest crop of ninjas doing?", BLS asked.
"They're a bit eager and brash, but it's not like I wasn't the same as them when I started out. Anyway, I'm here about our promise. You owe me that final duel. But seeing as you're fused with your partner, I'll have him take me on in your stead."
"You won't be disappointed.", Steel said as he and Hanzo drew their blades and got into fighting stances. The two charged at each other! Hanzo unleashed a series of quick slashes as he felt for any openings in Steel's defense! Steel kept his guard up and forced Hanzo off-balance with a push from his shield to counter his next strike! "My turn!" Steel charged his blade with energy and unleashed a blast at Hanzo! Knocking him to the ground! Hanzo smiled as he got up.
"You're retained all your skills. Now to show you mine!" Hanzo focused and got into a stance. "Ninjitsu Art! Duplication!" Two shadow images of Hanzo appeared and they circled Steel at high speeds! "Let's see if you remember how to counter one of my best techniques!" Steel was caught off-guard by the barrage of quick slashes from Hanzo and his duplicates! Then Steel got an idea!
"Terra Force!" Steel plunged his sword into the ground and released a shock-wave of energy that forced back Hanzo and his duplicates! But the duplicates were more fragile and were destroyed by the force of the shock-wave!
"Let's end this with one final stand-off!" Hanzo then got into a stance as wind blew around him! Steel got into his showdown stance as well as earth energy radiated off of him! The two charged and unleashed slashes that were faster than lightning! Both warriors were still for a moment until Hanzo fell onto one knee. "I believe this match is yours." Hanzo and Steel bowed in respect of a well-fought duel. "You have a good friend in Steel. I have something of yours that you left behind." Hanzo pulled out the Super Soldier Soul from the folds of his uniform. Steel took the ancient armor and it glowed before fading away. Steel then looked at his morpher and saw it had been transformed! "You will need your old power for the battle that lie ahead young warrior." Steel was about to thank him when Hanzo noticed something out of the corner of his eye. "Look out!" Hanzo pushed Steel out of the way as a blast of flame was sent flying at them! Hanzo grimaced as he recovered from the blast, and stared coldly at the figure who had attacked them. "Shien." Shien had an evil smile on his face as he took note of Hanzo's condition.
"We meet again. Honorless coward."
"What would you know of honor?! You who destroyed any who even whispered of opposing you! None were safe from your treachery, not even those who called you their comrade! Your evil ends today! If not by my hand, then by theirs!" Hanzo pointed to the rangers. "Let this be our final meeting demon!" Steel watched in horror as Hanzo engaged in what might be his last battle.
"BLS? Is Hanzo strong enough to beat Shien?"
"No. Sadly he isn't. Hanzo's greatest strength are his Ninjitsu Arts. But Shien has the advantage in brute strength and his demonic aura! It prevents Hanzo from executing more than one Ninjitsu Art at once!" The rangers were shocked at how ruthless Shien was as he struck Hanzo as he tried to recover from his assault! Shien had overpowered Hanzo and was about to make the final blow! But Steel blocked it just in time!
'I won't let another good monster suffer the same fate as Summoned Skull!', Steel thought as he blocked Shien's attack with his shield! He managed to push Shien back and looked at his changed morpher. "Time to see what this new power can do! Super Soldier Soul!" Steel activated his morpher and there was a flash of light! When it faded, Steel's armor was transformed and he had a new shield and sword! "BLS-Super Soldier Ranger!" Steel said proudly as he stood with his new form! "Let's show this coward how true warriors fight! You with me Hanzo?" Hanzo nodded in determination as Steel rused Shien and caught him by surprise! Landing a critical hit and stunning him! Long enough for Hanzo to throw a kunai at Shien's shadow! Shien was engraged and tried to begin his own assault, but noticed he couldn't move!
"What have you done?!", Shien growled! Hanzo gave him a smirk.
"Ninjitsu Art! Shadow Sealing! This prevents you from moving! Long enough for us to end this! Now Steel!" Steel charged up energy in his blade and charged at Shien! Unleashing a powerful finishing blow!
"Valor Slash!" A blinding light came from the force of the attack and was followed by a huge explosion! Shien was no more! Garble narrowed his eyes at Shien's defeat. He cast a spell he had stolen from Nexus' lab.
"Megamorph!" Shien was revived and grew to gigantic size!
"Now to crush you like the bugs you are!", Shien bellowed!
"We need Megazord power now!", Burst shouted. The rangers summoned their zords and formed the Megazord! Ice's zord gave the rangers extra support as they engaged Shien! Ace then noticed a new data alert coming from his display.
"Hey Ice!", Ace said as he contacted Ice. "It looks like your zord can link-up with the Megazord to give it wings!" Steel then noticed new information on his own display.
"We've got a new weapon! The Super Soldier Shield! Hey guys! Let's combine all our current upgrades! See how Shien handles that!" Burst nodded.
"Alright! Initiate zord and upgrade link-up!" The Megazord leaped into the air and Red Dragon Zord followed! Red Dragon Zord's body twisted and folded as its head tucked away and its limbs compacted into pegs that fit on the Megazord's back! Once it docked, Ice joined his friends in the Megazord's cockpit! Inferno and Steel then activated their upgraded forms! As Inferno activated his, the Megazord's right arm transformed! It was wearing a gauntlet that looked like Archfiend Black Skull Dragon! When Steel activated his, the Megazord had a powerful new shield that looked like the shield he had in his current power-up! "Battle Wing Megazord ready!" Shien fired a blast of flame flying right at them! "Steel! Let's see what our new shield can do!"
"Got it!" Steel raised the Megazord's new shield as it absorbed the flames and released a blast of energy that hit Shien! Stunning him in place! "Lets end this!" Inferno then charged the Archfiend Black Skull gauntlet until flames wrapped around it! The Megazord leaped into the air and came speeding down with its wings blazing!
"Black Skull Knuckle Impact!" Inferno cried out as the Megzord delivered the final blow! A devastating punch that obliterated Shien! "You just got burned!" The rangers jumped out of the Megazord and met up with Hanzo.
"It appears I must thank you for saving me once again old friend. Farewell Duelist Rangers!" Hanzo vanished in a puff of smoke and returned to the monster world. The rangers returned to the command center while the Megazord split into its components and the zords returned to their lairs. Rainbow Dash ran up to Steel and hugged him tightly.
"You guys just got 20% more awesome with those upgrades!" Steel smiled as he kissed her.
"And you just got a 50% cooler boyfriend." The rangers and their friends celebrated their triumphs and their newest editions to the Megazord.
"Hmmm. Attention everyone!", Nightmare said as all of those who served her halted their current work. "You've been putting in a good effort serving me in my cause. So today, I'm giving you all the day off!" All of her minions smiled and took off to anywhere but the fortress. The rangers noticed the minions dressed in civilian clothes and going about their day.
"Well...I guess even the badguys need a day off too.", Burst said as he saw the minions going about their day off. "I guess we can enjoy the day too." Most of the rangers contacted their girlfriends and enjoyed their day off. Inferno was currently enjoying his date with Rarity.
"I gotta say, it's nice to have a break from all the excitement!", Inferno said with Rarity on his arm. "You know, days like this take me back to when I first met you. Clear, beautiful, and unassuming." Rarity smiled fondly.
"Darling. That day was the happiest day of my life." Rarity and Inferno recalled the day when they first met, and how it forged their relationship.
Freshman Year...
"Blueblood. Might it be alright if you carry me over this puddle?", Young Rarity asked. Blueblood chuckled at hearing this.
"Why would I ever show any chivalry towards a commoner such as you?" Rarity was heartbroken after hearing this! She had thought Blueblood was a perfect gentleman! And yet he was acting like a complete jerk! Young Inferno was walking the halls when he noticed the unhappy couple.
'A punk like that treating such a nice girl so bad. Time for me to do something about it.' Inferno walked up to Blueblood and tapped him on the shoulder. "Hey rich boy!" Blueblood turned his attention to Inferno.
"What do you want peasant?"
"Didn't your parents ever teach you to treat a girl nice?"
"Only if she's among the elite.", Blueblood scoffed.
"And you call yourself a prince. Well get ready to take on the dragon!" Inferno struck a fighting stance. "Or are you too scared to mess up your hair?"
"Insolent fool! I'll teach you a thing or two!" Blueblood got into a fisticuffs position. "Have at-!" He was cut-off by a swift punch from Inferno! He wasn't badly bruised or hurt, but he was out cold. Inferno walked over to Rarity and turned his back to a carrying position.
"Need a lift?" Inferno flashed her a smile. Rarity blushed and returned the smile as she got onto his back and he stepped through the puddle on the floor.
"While I can't agree with your method, I can't argue with the result. What's your name darling?"
"Inferno. Inferno Flare. You can call me anytime. So do I get the honor of knowing the name of such a pretty gem?"
"Rarity. By the way, are you free after school today?" Inferno was grinning ear-to-ear.
"Gorgeous, I got nothing better to do!" Inferno and Rarity then snapped back to the present. "We've come such a long way since then. In fact, there's something I want to give you to show you how special you are to me." Inferno reached into his pocket and pulled out a necklace with a brilliant ruby that looked like it was blazing. Rarity was speechless. "Red Eyes helped my pick it out. It shows how you ignite my soul, and that you're my treasure." Rarity wrapped her arms around Inferno after he put the necklace on her. She gave him a flirty smile.
"I'd expect nothing less from my handsome dragon." Rarity pulled Inferno into a deep, loving kiss. A kiss Inferno more than happily returned. Steel and Rainbow were enjoying some time at the arcade and were also reminiscing about when they first met.
"Hard to believe we ever became an item huh?", Rainbow asked. "Most of the girls thought I would be single for as long as I lived!"
"What can I say? I love your tomboyish charm. Also, I don't have to worry about being delicate with you.", Steel replied. "But on our first date you acted like you wanted nothing to do with me." The two shared a laugh as they remembered their first encounter and date.
Freshman Year...
"It's not like I love him or anything! I just want to know him better!", Young Rainbow said with a pout as she remembered what had happened earlier that day. Hoops and his cronies were making fun of her as usual. Rainbow had managed to K.O. one of them, but one of them held her in place while Hoops was getting ready to slap her. She braced for it, but it never came. Rainbow opened her eyes and found a guy who was gripping Hoops' arm!
"Who're you?!", Hoops growled.
"The guy who's about to slamdunk you!" Steel replied as he threw Hoops into a trash can! "Three-pointer." Steel then gazed coldly at the rest of Hoops' goons. "Next?" They were so scared they ran off crying. "Need a hand?" Steel offered his hand to Rainbow Dash and she accepted. "Guys like that are annoying right? Name's Steel Edge." Rainbow blushed a little.
"I'm Rainbow Dash. And you're 20% more awesome for saving my hide back there!" Rainbow fist-bumped him as the two walked off to class. 'This guy's pretty cool...' Rainbow Dash then told her friends about it, and how she reacted. She denied every speculation that she had feelings for Steel. Then one weekend, Steel took her out to see the latest Daring Do movie. As the film came to an end she noticed Steel was giving her a smile.
"Hey Dash? Are you happy so far?"
"I'm doing awesome! Why?" Steel inched closer to her.
"Because there's nothing more I like doing than making you happy." Rainbow blushed and smiled back.
"Maybe...I should make you happy too." Rainbow closed her eyes and shared a kiss with Steel. The two of them then returned from their trip down memory lane and smiled.
"So can I do anything to make you smile?", Steel asked.
"Shut up and kiss me ranger boy." Rainbow booped Steel on the nose. Steel gladly complied. Ace and Sonata were enjoying a day out. Ace even wound up giving Sonata a ride on his back. Sonata was happy and carefree for the most part, but then she asked Ace a serious question.
"Hey Ace? You know my family and I don't have the best history at CHS right? You were there weren't you? Didn't you see what we tried to do?" Ace sighed.
"I was. I saw everything."
"Then why are you going out with me? Most people would hate you for staying by me. I don't want you to be miserable just to make me happy."
"Sonata. Everyone was willing to give Sunset a second chance. And they've given your family one too. And even if they didn't, I'd stay with you all the same. I was under your siren's song before you even sang. Sometimes I still hear your beautiful voice in my dreams." Sonata was tearing up. Ace set her down, held her close, and kissed her. Sonata gladly returned the favor.
"You make me so happy I could sing. But if I did I'd probably sound awful."
"And I'd still think it was one of the sweetest voices I've heard." Sonata smiled at hearing this, and sang her heart out. She was shocked to find that her voice didn't sound like an awful cacophony, but it sounded even more beautiful than it ever had when she had her magic!
"Sonata...that was heavenly! How is this possible?!" Sonata's mind flashed back to an old story she had heard in her younger days.
"There was an old legend. Where a siren fell in love with a pony. Because their love wasn't caused by the siren's magic, they formed a deep bond. And that love let the siren sing more beautiful than any other siren using magic. I just thought it was an old story but you..." Sonata couldn't contain her joy. "You gave me my voice back." Sonata pulled in Ace and the two shared a loving embrace.
"Like I said. I was under your spell before you even sang." The two just enjoyed each other's company for a good while. Gold and Sunset were enjoying lunch together. Both of them recounting the craziness they had been through.
"And I thought the girls and I were heroes. But you and the guys have to deal with monsters on a daily basis.", Sunset said with a giggle. "That, and I never expected to meet another being from Equestria in this world. And...I never thought a guy would come near me after...the incident." Gold noticed Sunset's shift in mood and put his hand on hers.
"But you got back up after that. You've got good friends and everyone at school's forgiven you. And last but not least, you have me. Also, there's something I want to give you." Gold pulled out the ring of his late adopted mother. "Dad told me to give this to the girl who meant the world to me. Sunset, you light up my life." Sunset was in awe as she put the ring on.
"Gold...it's beautiful!" Sunset pulled him into a kiss. "You always rise to the occasion." Gold smiled as he returned the kiss. Meanwhile, Burst was enjoying his time with Celestia. The two of them were enjoying a day out and Burst had stopped by Sugar Cube Corner to pick up a slice of her favorite cake.
"You always go the extra mile for the people you care about don't you?", Celestia asked with a smile.
"I wouldn't be a good leader for the rangers or a good boyfriend if I didn't give things a little extra effort sometimes.", Burst replied with a smile. He then took a moment to take in Celestia's appearance. "You know, you're just as beautiful as when I first saw you during Freshman Year. I even asked my mom if you were an angel. The sun seems to just radiate off you. And you have those lovely violet eyes." Celestia giggled at Burst's compliments.
"And you've grown quite handsome since I first saw you too. You were quite the cute little fellow as a freshman. And look at you now. You've still got that snowy white hair, the faintest tint of blue on your skin, and those sapphire orbs that're your eyes. I could get lost in them." Celestia then pulled Burst in a tight hug. "I love how soft and kind they are when you're around those you love, and how fierce they are when you fight to protect them. You're like a sleeping dragon. To be honest, I'd never have thought you'd be the Duelist Ranger I had eyes for. Not that I'm complaining." Burst smiled.
"I love you Celestia."
"I love you too." The two of them engaged in a deep kiss. Soon enough they wound up making out and broke their kiss to catch their breath. "You're a pretty good kisser. How'd you get so good? I bet you've had girls throwing themselves at you."
"Actually Celestia, you're the only girl I've had eyes for. And as for how I'm good at the art of lip-locking, I just act on instinct." Celestia smiled as she and Burst enjoyed the dessert he brought.
"You know, today was pretty nice.", Burst said as he walked Celestia home. "Hope you had a good time." Celesita smiled as she kissed Burst goodbye.
"I had a wonderful time. Have a goodnight Burst." Burst then headed for home, ate dinner, showered, and was soon off to bed.
"I wonder if I'll see that girl in my dreams again. Nightshade? Maybe I can tell her the good news." Burst smiled as he drifted off to sleep. And sure enough Nightmare found her way into his dreams again. In fact, she had been seeing Burst grow up through each of her nightly visits. Now she saw Burst the way he was in the real world. "Hey Nightshade!"
"Hello again Burst. You've grown since I last visited you.", Nightmare said with a smile.
"Yeah. Guess what? I've got myself a girlfriend!" Nightmare was surprised, but was nonetheless happy for him. Because soon he would be hers.
"Any woman would be lucky to have you. So who's the lucky girl?"
"My principal. Celestia." Nightmare was shocked to even hear that this world's Celestia was dating the guy she loved. Burst then noticed her shift in mood. "Nightshade? Are you alright? You look a bit sad." Nightmare snapped her attention back to Burst.
"Oh! It's nothing. Just a bit surprised is all." Burst walked closer to Nightmare.
"Nightshade. I know you're hiding something. You looked pretty down when I mentioned I was taken. You like me don't you?" Nightmare sighed and faced Burst.
"I do Burst. I've seen you grow into who you are in your dreams. I still see the little kid I played with during that one dream. I found myself loving you. But who could love a creature like me?"
"Nightshade, I do like you. And I'll admit you are real pretty."
"You think so?"
"Your eyes are lovely color of blue-green, your hair is like the star, you're like the night sky come to life. It's a shame you're just a girl in my dreams."
"...Burst. I'm not a figment of your dreams."
"What?"
"I've been entering your dreams for the last couple of days. I'm very real, and so is my love for you." Nightmare walked up to Burst and wrapped her arms around him. "Also, Nightshade isn't my real name."
"What are you saying?!" Burst forced her off of him.
"I've seen how you lead the rangers into battle. I guess you could say you've already fulfilled your dream."
"No...no. It can't be possible! How could someone like you be-?" Nightmare summoned her wings and her eyes returned to normal.
"I am Nightmare Moon." Burst couldn't believe it!
"Why? Why haven't you tried to destroy me?", Burst asked as his voice started to crack. Nightmare smiled and pulled him close to her and wrapped her wings around him.
"Why would I destroy the guy I love? Burst. Stand with me and we could rule over this world. The sky blanketed eternally with stars." Burst pushed her away. "Why do you refuse me so?", Nightmare asked sadly.
"Because I can't let you destroy my home!" Nightmare was startled! This was the first time she had ever seen Burst angry.
"What do you mean? How would there being no sun destroy anything?"
"Nightmare. Earth needs its sun. Without its heat or light, nothing would grow and everything would freeze! The whole planet would be a wasteland! Haven't you given thought to the consequences of your actions?!" Burst shouted. "I trusted you! I thought you were my friend! And now I find out you're the same evil the rangers and I have been fighting!"
"I'm not evil!" Nightmare herself was in tears now. "All I wanted to do was help Luna have her subjects love her! And what do I get as thanks?! Banishment to the moon for a thousand years! Then after all that time, Luna and I are able to return home. I almost succeeded that time but was separated from her and sent here! I felt like I was ripped away from my mother! All I wanted was to make her dreams come true! And what happens?! Every foal lives in fear of me from myths about me!" Nightmare sat as tears streamed from her face. "I just don't want to be hated anymore! I don't want to be alone! I thought I found a friend in you. Maybe even something more than that..." Nightmare then looked at Burst with tear-stained eyes. "But I guess I can't ever find happiness. Because now I've hurt you too..." Burst couldn't stand to see her like this. He remembered when his younger self played with her. There was no way the girl he knew was the same one Sunset had described. Maybe after all this time, she was just lonely. And it dawned on him. He had been her first friend.
"Nightmare...I'm sorry.", Burst said as he walked up to her. "But why did you try to continue your plan for eternal night here? You could have a new start. And for what it's worth, I don't hate you."
"Y-you don't?", Nightmare sobbed.
"But I have to know. Did you really mean what you said about me? As being more than a friend?" Nightmare had stopped crying.
"Every word Burst. From when I first saw you, I was captivated with more than your appearance. You're kind, and brave. You're willing to risk it all and put the safety of those around you first. You've really lived up to your dream of being a super hero. No matter what I always see a bit of that little boy inside of you. But this isn't right. You love Celestia. I saw when I sent Dragonic Knight. You giving up being happy just for my happiness wouldn't be fair to you." Nightmare then felt Burst wrap his arms around her. She then noticed a flash of blue light and white dragon wings had materialized on his back. Burst wrapped his wings around her too.
"Well make it work somehow Nightmare. I love Celestia, but I love you too. We'll see what we can do. But what are you going to do now."
"Surrender to you and the rangers. Why not bring an end to your other battle as well right? And Burst?"
"Yeah?"
"Could you call me Moon instead? I'd rather leave the first part of my name behind."
"Sure...Moon." Nightmare smiled as she returned the hug. She then grew a bit more bold and went in for a kiss. Burst was surprised, but he did enjoy it. "Wow. Where did that come from?" Nightmare giggled.
"Can't a girl say thank you? I'll see you when you wake up soon. Sweet dreams Burst."
Burst took a deep breath. 'Today's the day. I better let the others know what's going to go on.' "Hey guys! There's someone that wants to meet us after school. She also wants to see Pegasus too." Burst's friends weren't sure what to think of when he told them this, but they went about their day and Gold let his dad know about what Burst had said. Meanwhile on her fortress, Nightmare was making her own preparations.
"Oh Garble.", she asked. Garble gulped as she called his name.
"Y-yes?"
"I know it was you who sent those rogue monsters the last couple of times."
"Please don't destroy me!", Garble begged at her feet. "I'm sorry! I won't do it again!" Nightmare just giggled at his reaction.
"Calm down. You're not in trouble. In fact, you won't have to worry about me anymore."
"Say what."
"Today I'm surrendering to the rangers. You can go back to your normal life." Garble gave a sigh of relief. Sombra was watching from the shadows with an ominous smile on his face.
'Perfect.', he thought to himself. Back on earth, school had ended and the rangers, their friends and girlfriends, and Pegasus were waiting for whoever Burst said was planning on meeting them.
"So who's this mystery girl? Did Burst already find another girlfriend?", Inferno joked. That earned him a playful punch from Rarity.
"Oh! Maybe Nightmare Moon decided to be good!", Pinkie chirped.
"We'll find out soon enough. Huh. Here she comes now.", Burst said. The whole group saw a portal open and Nightmare Moon stepped through. Everyone except for Burst was shocked!
"Burst! You let the mare of darkness come meet us after school?! What were you thinking?! She's been attacking the city!", Sunset screamed. Burst just smiled.
"Greetings rangers. I've come to negotiate my surrender.", Nightmare said with a pleasant smile. Almost everyone's jaw dropped. The same villain they were fighting so hard against was just calling it quits?! It didn't make much sense! Sunset was the first to find her voice.
"Wait. You're surrendering? NIGHTMARE MOON. Is surrendering. Why? What made you call it quits?"
"To answer your question, it was Burst." Nightmare then made her way over to Burst. "For the past few days I've been visiting him in his dreams, and I soon found myself in love with him. I tried to convince him to join me last night, but then he told me of what might have happened if I had brought eternal night. I told him of my past. How alone and hated I was, and how I wanted to leave that behind me. He accepted me, and is willing to give me a chance. All I want to know is if you are willing to do the same."
Sunset sighed. "I guess if I could be forgiven for my mistakes, and if Sonata and her family can be forgiven for theirs, I don't see why we can't give the former mistress of darkness a chance too." Nightmare couldn't contain her joy as she used her magic to pull them all into a gigantic group hug!
"Thank you all! And could you all call me Moon please? It sounds less intimidating." Everyone nodded. "Now I have a question for Celestia."
"Go on?", Celestia asked as she walked up to Burst and Nightmare.
"You don't mind sharing this handsome dragon do you?", Nightmare said as she brought her arms around Burst. Celestia was silent for a moment, then she smiled as she also wrapped her arms around Burst.
"It's easy to see why you fell for him too." The two of them planted cheek kisses on Burst! Burst promptly blushed after receiving two girlfriends.
"Hmmm. I can't shake the feeling that something isn't right.", Ace speculated. Soon dark clouds gathered in the sky and dark laughter was heard! "I hat it when I'm right."
"Moon? What's going on?!", Burst asked. Nightmare frowned. She recognized that laugh.
"I think I've got a good idea what we're facing. Why don't you show your face?!" Another portal appeared and Sombra stepped out. He was followed by a woman wearing a dress full of holes and bug wings were on her back. She had black skin and a black crown with jewels on it. "Chrysalis. I should have known that you'd go for the power as soon as I left.", Nightmare said coldly. "And your boyfriend helped give you a way in from Equestria." Nightmare glared at Sombra. Chrysalis laughed.
"Nothing gets by you does it? Mmmm. The love radiating off that boy you and Celestia like looks so delicous. Maybe I'll take him too!" Chrysalis flew straight at Burst, but he kicked her out of the air!
"I think it's time we teach these guys a lesson! Ready guys?!"
"READY!"
"It's morphin' time!" The rangers activated their morphers and stood ready to fight! Chrysalis sneered.
"You fools thought I hadn't come prepared? Insect Queen!" A gigantic insect appeared in a flash of light and began to attack the city! "Farewell rangers!" Chrysalis vanished in a green flame and Sombra faded away in a swirl of shadow.
"Looks like we've got a bug to squash! We need Megazord power now!" The rangers called their zords! Burst's formed the main body and head while Inferno formed the right arm and Steel formed the left arm. Ace and Shadow formed the right and left legs respectively while Ice formed the wings. Gold's zord received a data alert!
"Listen up guys! My Crimson Dragon Zord can link with the Megazord to form dual cannons! This seems like the perfect time to test them out!"
"Alright Gold! Initiate link-up!" Crimson Dragon Zord's head tucked into its body while its wings folded in. Its legs and arms retracted until two barrels extended when they linked together! The newly formed cannons attached onto the Megazord's shoulders! "Plasma Strike Wing Megazord! Ready!" Insect Queen screeched before spewing slime at them from her mouth! "Gross! That gunk she pits out stuck to a whole portion of the city! We can't afford to get any of it stuck on us!"
"Uh, Burst? I don't think she agrees with that! She's headed for us!"
"Dodge it!" The Megazord air-rolled out of the way as Insect Queen made a dash at them! She missed and tried to recover. "Let's test out our latest toy! Fire the plasma cannon Gold!" Gold manned his console and brought up a targeting reticle!
"Locked on...fire!" A brilliant crimson blast of plasma shot Insect Queen down, but she wasn't out yet! She laid a bunch of eggs that hatched into attacking drones!
"Super Soldier Shield!", Steel said as he raised the Megazord's shield and created an energy barrier that fried all the drones that charged at the Megazord! "Time to give her a royal knuckle sandwich! Inferno?"
"I thought you'd never ask! Black Skull Knuckle!" The Megazord charged its right fist and flames wrapped around it as it shot out a fiery fist projection that struck Insect Queen in the face!
"Let's finish this guys!" The Megazord leaped into the air and summoned its saber! It then charged up its right fist and activated its shield! Flames wrapped around the blade of the saber! "Final Strike! Dragon Impact!" The Megazord rocketed back to the surface where Insect Queen was trying to flee! A massive explosion was released from the blow! Insect Queen was no more! The whole city cheered for the rangers! The rangers left their zords and met back up with their friends on the ground. They powered down and teleported to the command center. Once they arrived, they noticed the whole command center was dark. "Hey guys? Where's Pinkie?" The lights came on and the whole command center was decorated for a party!
"Were you surprised?!", Pinkie asked excitedly. "Were ya?"
"We sure were. Now it's party time!", Inferno said. The rangers celebrated their new friend, and Burst danced with his girlfriends.
"So what happens now?", Burst asked with a smile. Celestia and Nightmare smiled.
"The hero gets the girl.", Celestia said as she kissed Burst. Nightmare then turned Burst to face her.
"Go go Duelist Rangers!", she sang cutely before kissing him. Everyone shared a laugh as the party went into overdrive!
The party had lasted into the night, and the rangers headed for home. But before everyone left, Nightmare came to a starling realization. "Oh no!"
"Moon? What's wrong?!", Burst asked.
"I just realized. The fortress was my only home! Now I've got nowhere to sleep!" Then an idea came to her. "Do any of you have rooms at your homes?" Most of the rangers replied that their houses had no extra rooms or beds. Burst then had an idea of his own.
"Well Moon, my bed's big enough for two. I guess we could share it if that's alright with you." Moon was beaming.
"Thank you!", she hollered as she gave Burst a nearly bone-breaking hug. Celestia watched with a small smile.
"Lucky.", she said before she and the others teleported back to their homes. Back with Burst and Moon, the two of them had just gotten ready for bed. Burst was fast asleep until he felt something heavy on top of him He woke up to find Moon using him as a pillow!
"Uh, Moon? Why're you on top of me?" Nightmare smiled back at him.
"Your heartbeat is calming. It helps me go to sleep. You don't mind do you?" Burst sighed and smiled.
"Goodnight Moon." Moon smiled and kissed Burst goodnight. Meanwhile on the fortress, Chrysalis and Sombra were plotting their next move.
"So Chrysalis? Which monster are you planning on sending next?", Sombra asked with a smirk.
"I'm not sending just one. I'm sending three.", Chrysalis replies with a wicked smile. "Sanga, Kazegin, and Suijin. Together they form a monster who's strength surpasses that of Burst Stream. The rangers stand no chance!" The next day came, and Nightmare enrolled at CHS with the rangers and their friends. Lunch period had barely arrived before the rangers got alerts on their morphers.
"What's up Gold?", Burst asked.
"Three monsters just showed up and are attacking! I'll be joining you shortly!"
"Got it! Let's go guys!" The rangers morphed and went to face their latest opponents. When they arrived, they saw Sanga, Kazejin, and Suijin causing havoc! "Let's go guys!" Burst and Inferno charged at Sanga, but Inferno was knocked away by a blast of thunder! Burst kept moving and managed to strike down Sanga with one swing of his sword! "Weird. That guy went down to easy." Steel and Ice faced off against Kazejin! Steel was pushed back from a gust of wind from Kazejin, but Ice finished off Kazejin with a single Absolute Power Force! "I guess he was a windbag after all." Ace, Shadow, and Gold were engaging Suijin. Shadow was pushed back from a blast of water from Suijin! However, Ace and Gold managed to finish Suijin off with well placed shots from their blasters! "Something's off. These monsters went down to easy!" Soon a bolt of thunder went off and the wind started to blow! The wind seemed to blow around the thunder bolt while water spiraled below it. In a flash of light, Gate Guardian emerged! It was a fusion of Sanga, Kazejin, and Suijin as one! It towered over the rangers!
"The bigger they are...", Burst said as he flew right at Gate Guardian with his sword drawn! "The harder they fall!" Burst struck Gate Guardian with all his might, but the giant was completely unfazed and knocked him away with one punch!
"Time to step things up!" Inferno activated his Archfiend Black Skull mode and charged at Gate Guardian, but was blown away by a blast of wind from Gate Guardian! The rest of the rangers tried to mount an all-out attack, but Gate Guardian was too strong and defeated all of them! It left as quickly as it came. The damage the rangers received caused them to power down.
"Me and my big mouth.", Ace groaned. "That thing was even stronger that Burst at base power! How're we supposed to beat it?" An idea came to Burst.
"There's only one creature that could stand up to Gate Guardian in Duel Monsters. The Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon! If we can somehow power up my morpher into a Blue Eyes Ultimate morpher, we should be able to beat Gate Guardian! Let's head back to the command center." The rangers teleported to their base and informed Pegasus of their plan.
"That idea just might work! However, Burst will need to be absent from the team while I work on the morpher upgrade."
"I understand. Here's my morpher.", Burst said as he handed Pegasus his morpher. "I hope you guys can manage without me."
"We've got this Burst! In the meantime, we'd better head back to school.", Inferno said with a smile. The rangers teleported back to school and went about the rest of their day. Meanwhile on their fortress, Chrysalis and Sombra were pleased with Gate Guardian's performance.
"You performed phenomenally Guardian.", Chrysalis said with a giggle. "Just wait until the rangers have to face you again." Gate Guardian bowed. Sombra entered the room and noticed the pleased look on Chrysalis's face. "I can almost taste our victory Sombra."
"I can as well. This new monster is even stronger than the rangers' best fighters. By the way have you filled up yet?"
"My you're sweet.", Chrysalis said as Sombra fed her his love energy. "Thanks for the pick-up. Hmm. I noticed a high amount of love enrgy coming from the rangers. Maybe I should use that to my advantage later...", Chrysalis thought with an evil smile. Back on earth, school had just let out and the rangers teleported to the command center.
"Pegasus, is the upgrade for my morpher finished yet?", Burst asked hopefully. Pegasus shook his head.
"It's almost finished. About ten more minutes and it should be done."
"I think those ten minutes are going to go by longer than we think! Look at the monitor!", Gold said. "Gate Guardian's back!"
"Then let's hold him off while people get to safety! Come on guys!", Inferno rallied as all the rangers but Burst teleported to face-off against Gate Guardian! "We just have to hold him off until Burst gets here guys! Let's give it all we've got!"
"Right!" The rangers summoned their weapons and charged Gate Guardian! Back at the command center, Burst watched as his friends tried their best against Gate Guardian. A fight he knew they wouldn't win!
"How much longer until the upgrade is finished?"
"About three minutes. Please Burst! Wait just a little bit longer!" Burst looked at his friends getting beat up by Gate Guardian! "It's mostly done now, but the upgrade could be deleted if you take the morpher now!"
"I can't wait any longer! They need me!" Burst took the morpher and teleported to his friends! He landed not too far from them, but ran into Chrysalis on his way! "What do you want bug queen?"
"How noble and foolish.", Chrysalis said with a sneer. "You'll be bound to your current limits of power and your friends will be destroyed! You've just ensured my victory by coming to aid your friends!"
"You're right. I've got my limits. But I won't be chained by them!" Burst rushed past her and stunned Chrysalis! "And we won't lose!"
"Heh. Fool. He'll lose and the rangers will fall!", Chrysalis smirked as she teleported back to the fortress. Meanwhile, Burst had just arrived on the scene and saw that his friends were badly beaten!
"Guys! I'm here!" The other rangers were shocked!
"Burst are you crazy?!", Inferno shouted. "The upgrade isn't finished yet!"
"I can't leave you guys hanging! Blue Eyes White Dragon!" Burst morphed and charged at Gate Guardian! But his body seized up on him! "Wh-what the?!" Burst was soon enveloped in a bright light! The rangers shielded their eyes! As the light began to die down, a pair of wings came out of it! The light then faded to reveal Burst standing in what looked like almost identical armor, but it looked like there were two extra Blue Eyes heads on his chest plate and they resting on him. "I don't know what happened, but it feels right!" Inferno then noticed Gate Guardian taking a swing at Burst!
"Watch out!" Burst saw the fist and caught it! Gate Guardian was caught by surprise when Burst then lifted him into the air brought him down with great force! "This is awesome!" Gate Guardian recovered and grappled with Burst! Then the two dragon heads on Burst's chest plate sprang up and fired a blast of white lightning striking Gate Guardian square in the chest! Knocking him to the ground! As Gate Guardian struggled to get up, Burst then received new data from his helmet!
"Time to end this!" Burst drew his blaster and began charging it and the two dragon head cannons on his shoulders! When the energy reached its peak, Burst released a mighty attack! "NEUTRON BLAST!" The attack was so devastating that Gate Guardian was obliterated! Back on their fortress, Chrysalis and Sombra were in shock!
"How...HOW DID HE GET THAT MUCH POWER?!", Chrysalis screamed! "He shouldn't have been able to beat Gate Guardian!"
"No matter! The rangers will soon fall! Megamorph!", Sombra cried as he cast the spell to revive and enlarge Gate Guardian! Burst and the other rangers noticed and decided to spring into action! Burst then got an alert from Pegasus!
"Burst do you read me?"
"Loud and clear Pegasus!"
"With your new power comes a new fighting machine! Call upon the three Blue Eyes Zords to summon the Blue Eyes Ultimate Megazord!"
"Got it! Leave this to me guys! Blue Eyes Zords! Come on out!" From their mountain lair, the three Blue Eyes Zords awakened and flew to the battlefield! Burst jumped into the lead zord! "Form Blue Eyes Ultimate Megazord!" Burst's main Blue Eyes Zord formed the legs, body and head! The other two formed the arms by the mouths retracting to reveal fists and twisting to form locking joints that locked into the sockets on Burst's zord! "Blue Eyes Ultimate Megazord online! Summon Neutron Cannon!" A tri-barreled blaster appeared in the Megazord's hands! "Fire!" One shot and Gate Guardian was obliterated! The rangers cheered at their victory over Gate Guardian while Sombra and Chrysalis fumed over their defeat! Burst got out of the Megazord and rejoined his friends. The rangers teleported back to the command center and found that the girls had been watching the battle. Celestia and Nightmare rushed up to Burst and kissed him. "Sorry to make you worry!", Burst replied with a smile.
"With this kind of power, Chrysalis and Sombra don't stand a chance!", Nightmare boasted.
"And now we've got the perfect ride.", Celestia joked. Everyone shared a laugh as they celebrated their latest triumph!
Chrysalis was sitting in the fortress, and a scheme came to her. "Sombra. I believe I've found a way to make the rangers hurt. Make them suffer. Make them beg to surrender." Sombra had an evil grin at hearing this.
"And what did you have in mind my queen?"
"Almost all of them have someone they love above all else. We've been attacking their bodies, but what we really need to go for..." Chrysalis smiled as she looked at the crystal and saw each of the girls the rangers loved."is the heart." She then turned her gaze to Sonata. "I always wanted to try the love of a siren. Time to go fishing..." Chrysalis licked her lips in anticipation of tasting Sonata's love. Back on Earth, Ace was walking Sonata to class.
"So I'll walk you home after school today?", he asked.
"I'd love that Ace. You really know how to make me feel loved.", Sonata said with a smile as she kissed him. "See you when school's out." Ace smiled as he went about the rest of the day. The day went by pretty quickly, and was over before anybody knew it. Sonata was waiting for her family, and sure enough they showed up. "Hey Aria! Dagi! Just waiting on Ace!"
"That guy really loves you if he's willing to walk you home everyday.", Adagio said with a smile.
"More than any of you know.", Chrysalis said as she made her presence known! "Looks like I've caught me three sirens. Are you going to come along nicely, or are you going to give me a fight?"
"We aren't going anywhere with you!", Aria spat! Chrysalis smiled.
"Oh. Most unwise..." She snapped her fingers and a squad of Sombra's crystal golems appeared. "Capture them." Aria attempted to punch the golem that made a grab for her, but hurt herself!
"Agh! These things are made of stuff tougher than rock!" The former sirens soon found themselves surrounded! Chrysalis flew down to them and used her magic to knock them out. Ace had just walked out the door, and was horrified to see Sonata and her family being carried off! "SONATA!" Chrysalis noticed him and gave him an evil smile.
"Come and get her ranger boy!" Before Ace could even reach the portal, Chrysalis cackled at his failed effort to rescue his girlfriend. She then tossed a piece of paper at him as the portal closed. Ace struck the ground in rage and contacted the other rangers.
"Guys. Chrysalis kidnapped Sonata and her family! We have to get them back! Now!"
"Sit tight Ace! We'll meet back at the command center!Chrysalis could be baiting you! We need a-!" Ace cut off Burst before he could finish and looked at the paper Chrysalis had tossed. It gave coordinates where to find Sonata and her family. Ace teleported to the command center and went to one of the computers. He entered the coordinates and prepared to teleport. The other rangers arrived, and were stunned to see Ace about to leave!
"Ace wait!", Ice called out before Ace teleported away! "We'd better check where he's headed!" The rangers pulled up the last location Ace had entered. "Oh man! He's walking straight into a trap!" Meanwhile, Chrysalis was at the location she had marked on the paper she had tossed at Ace. She smiled at the sight of Sonata helpless in her magic. She opened her mouth and absorbed some of the love Sonata had for Ace. "I always did want to try seafood.", she said with an evil smile. Adagio and Aria struggled in the changeling slime that bound them.
"If you've hurt her I'll-!", Aria began to shout. Chrysalis turned her attention to Aria and went down to her level.
"You're in no position to put up a fight. So why should I have any reason to fear your threat.", Chryslais spat. Sonata was stirring out of her forced slumber.
"Ace...Ace will...come for us..." Chrysalis smiled as she saw Sonata slowly awaken.
"Oh sweetie...I'm counting on it." From the shadows a monster emerged. "Guardian Dreadscythe will make sure you're the last thing he ever sees..." Chrysalis teleported away to her fortress and prepared to watch Ace head for his supposed doom. Ace had arrived and morphed the instant he landed! He made a dash for the cave and found Sonata and her family imprisoned in some sort of slime!
"Hold on! I'm getting you out of here!"
"It's a trap!", Sonata screamed as Dreadscythe was about to take a slash at Ace! Ace dodged just in time and summoned his sword!
"Alright ugly! Bring it!" Ace and Dreadscythe's weapons clashed! But it was clear that Dreadscythe had the edge in raw power! Ace's sword was knocked away and Dreadscythe got in a critical blow!
"Ace!" Ace struggled to get up after the devastating blow Dreadscythe had inflicted. His thought were a mess, but he found one focal point. Sonata! He couldn't meet his end here! He wouldn't! He was going to beat this monster, and save Sonata and her family! He can, and he would! Ace stood to his feet, and light began to shine trough some of the cracks in his armor! Then he heard two voices and saw two dragons before him! One red and one blue.
"Noble warrior who has bonded with Timaeus, we give you our power! I Hermos give you my claws.", the red one spoke.
"And I Critias give you my wings! Rise, Knight of Destiny!", the blue one spoke! There was a blinding pillar of light that surrounded Ace! When the light faded, Ace's armor was gold and he had wings that were bursting with energy! And most noticeable was the rocket cannon he now held in addition to his sword.
"Round two ugly!" Ace said as he fired a rocket from his new cannon! Dreadscythe was knocked right through one of the cave walls! Ace continued his attack by flying after him with his new wings! The wings were so sharp they cut Dreadscythe's weapon in two! Leaving the fallen guardian defenseless! Ace charged up his sword with golden energy and fired a blast of magic that bound Dreadscythe in place! "Destiny Seal Slash!" Ace charged at Dreadscythe and destroyed him in one slash! A huge explosion followed Dreadscythe's defeat! Ace then returned to Sonata and her family and freed them. "You alright?" Sonata gave Ace a hug after he freed her family.
"I am now. I knew you'd come." The other rangers had just arrived and were impressed by Ace's power up.
"Nice new ranger suit!", Inferno said with a thumbs up. Chrysalis was furious when Dreadscythe was defeated!
"Megamorph!" Chrysalis cast the spell and Dreadscythe grew to gigantic size! "Crush them!" The rangers noticed Dreadscythe and went into action!
"Alright guys! We need Megazord power now!" The rangers called their zords, but for some reason Ace's zord transformed the moment it was called! Instead of the usual green color, the Timaeus Zord was gold! Regardless of the color change, it still transformed all the same into the right leg of the Megazord. "Hey Ace! Why don't you see what upgrades your new powers give the Megazord?" Ace pulled up his display and found the Megazord had a new weapon!
"We've got our selves a shiny new sword! Summon Dragon Seal Saber!" The Megazord raised its right arm to the sky as it called down a sword that resembled Ace's! "Let's cut Dreadscythe down to size!" The Megazord fired a blast that froze Dreadscythe in place with a seal! Then is charged and unleashed a series of powerful slashes! The Megazord turned around and sheathed its new saber on its back. Dreadscythe was destroyed in a gigantic explosion! The rangers left the Megazord and returned to Sonata and her family as they powered down. Sonata rushed up to Ace and gave him a hug so tight it almost broke his ribs!
"My dragon knight in shining armor!", she said sweetly.
"I'm glad you're happy! But my vision's starting to go black-!", Ace groaned before Sonata released him. The rangers then headed for home to recover for what the next day would bring.
The rangers were in a pretty good mood. It was Friday, and their girlfriends were free. Tonight would be date night. "Man I can't wait to take Rarity out tonight! I hope she can get someone to watch her little sister."
"This'll be my first date with Celestia AND Moon. I hope it goes well.", Burst said.
"Dash and I are hitting the movies. She wanted to see that new Super Hero movie that came out.", Steel said.
"Sonata and I are hitting up a karaoke place. Perfect chance for the two of us to goof off.", Ace said with a smile.
"Sunset and I are eating dinner out. My treat.", Gold said. Ice and Shadow sighed.
"Some guys have all the luck.", they both said. Pinkie then popped up.
"Don't worry! You'll get girls next season!"
"Thanks Pinkie. Wait, what was that last part?", Ice asked.
"Nothing important!", Pinkie chirped as she went about the rest of her day.
"Well guys, let's make tonight awesome!", Burst said.
"YEAH!" The rest of the day went by pretty quick and the rangers and their girlfriends prepared for their dates. However, Chrysalis was watching the girls with devious interest.
"Perfect. So much love is coming from them! If I can absorb it, then I'll gain enough power to defeat the rangers!" Chrysalis cast a spell that knocked the girls out and she teleported them to her fortress. "Now to set the stage for my trap." The rangers had finished preparing for their dates when their morphers beeped.
"Rangers! Get to the command center! Something's come up!", Pegasus said. The rangers teleported to the command center and found Pegasus had a grave expression on his face. "We've received a message from Chrysalis. It's about the girls..." Pegasus played the message.
"Greetings rangers.", Chrysalis said with an evil smile. "I'm sure you're familiar with these lovely ladies?" Chrysalis revealed the girls trapped in cocoons! "You want them back? Surrender and hand over your morphers. Otherwise..." Chrysalis charged her magic. "I can't promise their safety. The choice is all yours." The rangers' faces were a mix of shock, worry and anger.
"That witch kidnapped my gem. My Rarity!", Inferno cried out. "And now she's holding the girls hostage to get rid of us!" Inferno's rage was soon replaced with sorrow. "Burst...what're we gonna do?"
"For once...I don't know." Meanwhile on Chrysalis's fortress, the girls woke up from the spell Chrysalis had used to knock them out.
"Alright bug queen! Let us go now or you'll be sorry!", Rainbow shouted! "The rangers are gonna kick your butt right of the planet!"
"They'll come for us! Just you wait and see!", Rarity said. Chrysalis giggled at hearing this.
"Oh, I'm counting on it. In fact, I'm looking forward to it. Soon they'll be no threat to my rule. I gave them an ultimatum. Surrender their morphers and I give you back unharmed. And if they don't, I can't guarantee your safe return. Of course, I'd be a fool to let such a valuable food source leave."
"They'll never surrender to you. Burst and the other rangers will find a way to beat you!", Celestia said defiantly. Chrysalis smiled at her response.
"How delicious. The love you share for him is so sweet. Which is why I have no intention of releasing you. Such tasty love is coming from all of you, and the more I feed off it the stronger I become. In fact, I might even beat the rangers with the love energy I've absorbed!"
"What would someone like you know about love?", Nightmare spat. "Especially since you take every last bit of it!" Chrysalis walked over to Nightmare's cocoon. In a flash of green fire she transformed into a perfect likeness! She even had Nightmare's voice down!
"I know enough on how to break a heart. Maybe when Burst comes for you two, I'll break his before I steal all of his love.", Chrysalis said with a cruel smile. "Then I'll crush the rest of the rangers and mount their morphers as trophies. A perfect display for Sombra and I to gaze at as we reign over this world."
"I guess I was wrong.", Nightmare said with a smirk. "You must know something about love if you speak that fondly of Sombra."
"What can I say? He's tall, dark and handsome. And he'll be the king at my side."
"You know Chrysalis, you don't have to go through with this. I changed. You could too."
"I'm afraid I'll have to decline. I'm having too much fun messing with all of you so far. Now to wait for the-" Chrysalis was out cold from a shot of blaster fire! Burst and the other rangers stepped out of the shadows and freed the girls from their cocoons.
"Everyone alright?", Shadow asked.
"We're good.", Nightmare said as she and Celestia hugged Burst. Burst then noticed Chrysalis getting up.
"Guys, Inferno and I got this. You get the girls out of here."
"See you guys back on earth!", Steel said as the rangers and the girls teleported back to earth.
"You made a big mistake taking our girls. Now I'm gonna show off my new power-up!", Inferno said as his morpher changed appearance! "Meteor Black Comet Dragon!" In a flash of light, Inferno stood in a new ranger armor! His armor was a dark purple with flames on his wings and lines that looked like fire was burning in them! Burst got out his morpher and activated his power up!
"Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon!" Burst stood in his upgraded armor and he and Inferno got into a fighting stance! "Let's dethrone this queen!" Chrysalis summoned a scimitar made of her magic.
"Let's dance ranger boys!" Chrysalis charged at Inferno and Burst, but they were too quick for her! Inferno then summoned his own sword! Flames were wrapped around the blade!
"Meteor Hail!" Inferno fired a barrage of meteors at Chrysalis! They were coming at her so hard she could barely block them! Inferno charged forth and leaped into the air with a blazing kick! "Comet Kick!" Chrysalis was knocked back halfway across the room! "You just got burned!"
"My turn!" Burst summoned a sword that most would need two hands to even lift it! Yet he was able to use only one hand! "Ultimate White Lightning!" Burst fired a blast of lightning from his sword and it struck Chrysalis as she had recovered!
"How...how are you so strong?! The love energy I stole should have been enough to defeat you!"
"It's because it was love you stole. The love that the girls have for us is freely given! That's what led to your defeat!" Chrysalis stared in shock as the love she had stolen was leaving her!
"No..NO!" Burst and Inferno teleported back to earth to meet back up with their friends. Meanwhile on the fortress, Sombra noticed Chrysalis pouting about her loss.
"Things didn't go well wit your plan?", he asked.
"Stupid love energy.", Chrysalis pouted. "I steal even one drop from those girls and it turns against me." Sombra sat by her side.
"Not all of it was stolen.", Sombra said with a small smile as he hugged her. "You know I'll always give you mine Chryssi." Chrysalis had an actual smile on her face.
"You know just what to say Sombra. Care to help me drown my feelings in a kiss?" Sombra complied all too gladly. Back on earth, the rangers were enjoying their own dates. Steel and Rainbow shared a kiss as the movie they went to began to play, Rarity kissed Inferno on the cheek as he carried Sweetie Bell on his shoulders, Gold and Sunset shared a kiss over the dinner they were enjoying, Ace and Sonata were singing their hearts out, and Burst was enjoying Celestia and Nightmare's company over a pizza.
"You know, there's only one way to make tonight better.", Nightmare said with a smile.
"And that is?", Burst asked as Nightmare kissed him. Nightmare broke the kiss as Celestia turned Burst's face to her.
"Rewarding you for saving us.", Celestia said with a smile as she kissed Burst.
"Yeah that'll do.", Burst said with a smile as the three of them continued to enjoy each other's company before heading home.
"Hey Shadow!", Rainbow said. The rangers and their friends were hanging out at the command center when Rainbow called out to Shadow. "I just realized something!"
"And that would be?", Shadow asked.
"You, Ice, and Gold are the only rangers left without power ups."
"What do you mean?"
"Inferno has two power ups. One he got from Skull and the other was added later on. Steel got his power up from that ninja, Ace got his when he went to rescue Sonata, and Burst got his when you guys fought Gate Guardian."
"Don't ya think that's the least bit inconsiderate?", Applejack asked.
"Come on Aj! Shadow knows I didn't mean anything by it."
"Don't worry. I'll get mine when the time comes." Soon the alarm blared and everyone rushed to see why the alarm was going off!
"Looks like it's some sort of energy signature.", Ace said as he examined the readings. "It's like nothing we've seen before."
"Then we'd better get to it first before Chrysalis and Sombra do. Let's go!" The rangers teleported to the location where the energy readings came from. "Let's see if we can track the energy with our morphers." They began scanning, and picked up on a certain location. It looked like a set of ruins. Ones that definitely looked like they were from the monster world. "It looks like we're getting closer." The rangers came to a halt when they reached a dragon statue. Soon they were surrounded by a whole group of dragon spirits! The leader than spoke.
"One who bears the power of Dragluon, step forward." The guys looked to Shadow and he stepped forth. "We have been waiting a long time for the one Dragluon chose to wield his power. We have a gift for you. The power Dragluon left behind with we Dragon Lords. Behold! Dragluon's Eternity!" A beam of light shot into Shadow's morpher and transformed it! Shadow and the other rangers marveled at the sight. "Use this power well. May it aid you in your battles." The dragon spirits returned to the monster world, and with them the ruins faded.
"Well , well. What do we have here?", Chrysalis said with a smirk. "Here Sombra and I were hoping to score that energy, and you show up. We won't bother sending minion when we can do the job ourselves!" Chrysalis and Sombra summoned their weapons!
"Let's do it guys! It's morphin' time!", Burst shouted! The rangers morphed and summoned their own weapons! As they charged, Sombra fired a blast of dark magic that froze them in place! Burst found himself in a dark place and saw Celestia and Moon imprisoned! "What happened?!" Burst then saw the Megazord in ruins! "This can't be real! It can't be!" Inferno came to and found he was chained up and that Rarity was looking down on him.
"R-Rarity?"
"How could I love a beast like you?", she said coldly. Inferno's heart sank as she walked away.
"Wait! Rarity! Don't leave me!" Meanwhile, Ace was having his own worst nightmare. He saw Sonata sitting alone. He tried to get her to hear him, but she couldn't hear! She was crying because she was alone. Ace screamed as loud as he could!
"Sonata I'm right here! Why can't you hear me?" Ace's heart sank as he could just watch Sonata be alone. Gold awoke to find Sunset being hated by everyone. He wanted to run up to her! To make her remember she wasn't alone! But no matter how much he ran, he couldn't get any closer!
"Sunset!", Gold kept crying out! Steel saw Rainbow Dash was basically hurling insults at him.
"Why'm I dating someone lame like you?" Steel's hear felt like it was torn to pieces. Ice was probably suffering the worst. When he came to, he saw his brothers lying on the ground mortally wounded. But it was their words that horrified him.
"You did this Ice...this is all your fault...", Ace strained to say.
"No.,.", Ice cried out! "NOOO!" Back in the real world, Chrysalis was smiling at Sombra's work.
"So what did you do to make them freeze like that?", she asked with a devious smile.
"A fear spell. Even the greatest of heroes have their worst fears. Right now, the rangers are experiencing theirs." Back in his mind, Shadow could see the other rangers paralyzed by their fears!
"How am I the only one who isn't having his own worst fears come to life?"
"Because of the power your morpher absorbed.", Dragluon replied as he materialized. "It shields you from the fear magic, and will guide you. Use it to free the others! Make then remember their eternal courage!" Shadow saw his right hand glowing with a bright light, and raised it up! From it six beams of light shot into each of the other rangers' minds! Banishing the fear the rangers were imprisoned by! The rangers then regained their senses and faced their fears knowing they no longer held any power over them! Back in the real world, the rangers had snapped out of Sombra's fear spell!
"Nice try, but you can't keep us down for long!" The rangers then noticed a pillar of light where Shadow had once stood. A pair of majestic dragon wings emerged as the light faded, and Shadow stood in new white and gold ranger armor!
"Dragluon Eternity Ranger!", Shadow proudly declared. "No matter how much you try to scare us our courage is eternal! Lightning Spear!" Shadow summoned his new weapon! A large spear with a blade shaped like Dragluon's head! "Light ray!" Shadow fired a beam of light energy that struck Sombra and Chrysalis! Knocking them back! The other rangers activated their own power-ups and surrounded them!
"Your move.", Burst said as he pointed his saber at them. Chrysalis nodded to Sombra and a portal opened in the sky!
"Megamorph!", Chrysalis cried as she cast the spell! Great Moth and Caius the Shadow Monarch came out of the portal and grew to gigantic size! They immediately began trashing the city!
"Have fun dealing with our friends rangers!", Chrysalis said as she and Sombra teleported back to their fortress!
"Time to call in the zords!", Burst said as the rangers summoned their zords! "Hey Shadow! Let's see what your power-up can do!"
"Right!" Shadow's zord transformed and took on a white and gold appearance! "Now let's combine all of our power ups so far!" The rangers activated their power ups and formed the Megazord! When it was completed, the Megazord had Inferno's Meteor Black Knuckle, Steel's Super Soldier Shield, Ace's Dragon Seal Sword, and Shadow's Spear! Burst's extra Blue Eyes Zords transformed into a set of twin blasters while Ice's Red Dragon Zord formed the wings and Gold's Crimson Dragon Zord formed plasma cannons that mounted on the Megazord's shoulders!
"Meteor Black Impact!", Inferno cried out as the Megazord charged at Caius and sent him falling to the ground with a blazing punch! Great Moth sent a gust of poison dust flying at them!
"Super Soldier Shield!", Steel said as he raised the shield to neutralize the poison dust!
"My turn! Dragon Seal Slash!", Ace cried out as he summoned a seal that grounded Great Moth with the Megazord's saber!
"Plasma Arc Cannon!", Gold shouted as he fired the Megazord's cannons! The blast destroyed Great Moth! "Take us up Ice!"
"You got it! Hold tight!" The Megazord leaped into the air! "How about we make Caius sit still? Shadow?"
"Time to see what this new weapon can do! Dragluon Spear!" The Megazord sent the spear flying as a beam of light that stuck and bound Caius with a seal! "Hey Burst! Time for the grand finale!" Burst smiled as the Megazord spun the twin Blue Eyes pistols before locking onto Caius!
"Hey Gold! Wanna see what we get with our combined blasts?"
"I'm way ahead of you!"
"Alright guys! Let's do this!"
"CRIMSON NEUTRON BLAST!", the rangers cried out as they fired a massive blast that obliterated Caius the Shadow Monarch! Back at the command center, the girls had watched everything that had happened and were in awe of the Megazord's new power! They all had smiles on their faces as the rangers returned!
"You guys were awesome out there!", Rainbow cheered!
"With that kind of power no monster stands a chance!", Sunset added.
"I bet Chrysalis and Sombra are pretty nervous right about now.", Rarity said with a giggle.
"Their days are numbered!", Nightmare boasted!
"All we need to do now is take those two down!", Sonata cheered!
"It looks like our battle's almost over.", Burst said with a smile. "But I can't shake the feeling that things aren't quite over yet..."
"Those pesky rangers have destroyed every monster we've sent!", Chrysalis fumed. "There's nothing left to send! They'll just beat whatever monster we let loose! And we don't stand a chance with their enhanced powers!" Sombra then decided to bring up an idea. One he swore he'd never bring up unless it got to this point.
"Well....there is one monster that could beat them." This caught Chrysalis's interest.
"Have you been holding out on me Sombra?"
"No. Never. But this monster has proven to be quite hostile. None have dared to try fusing with it. But since we're out of options..." Sombra brought out a Dragon Capture Jar. "there's nothing else we can do. Five Headed Dragon, I release you!" Sombra broke the jar and a powerful dark dragon spirit was released! The spirit fused with Sombra, and Sombra stood in pale gold armor with a dragon helmet and four other dragon heads on his shoulders. Chrysalis however was a bit concerned at the silence that came from him.
"Uh, Sombra? You in there?" Sombra raised his head and dark magic was leaking from his eyes.
"Never felt better! This power is undeniable! Now let's see how the rangers stack-up against it!" Chrysalis and Sombra teleported to earth and began their attack on Canterlot! The rangers were at school when they got the alert!
"Rangers! Sombra and Chrysalis are attacking!", Pegasus informed them!
"We're on it! Let's go!", Burst said as he and the rangers left to face Sombra and Chrysalis! They teleported to their location and morphed. "Looks like you two want to finish this!" Sombra had a dark smile on his face.
"I've grown more powerful than any of you! No matter how hard you fight, I'll be able to beat you!"
"We'll see about that!", Ice said as he charged at him with his sword! Just as he was about to land a hit, Sombra caught his sword! "What?!"
"My turn." Sombra threw Ice towards a pillar, and Ice's impact destroyed it as he hit a wall! "So who's next?"
"You're not getting away with that!", Ace shouted as he activated his Knight of Destiny mode! "This should give me enough power to take you down!" Ace fired a blast of light from his sword! Sombra countered with a blast of darkness from his hands! The two opposing beams clashed and there was a massive explosion! When the smoke cleared, Ace was powered down and Sombra was still standing!
"How did he get this strong?", Steel asked. "I guess that's something we'll have to find out later! Super Soldier!" Steel activated his power-up and charged at Sombra! He landed a strike on him, but Steel's sword didn't even leave a scratch! "What?"
"Fool.", Sombra said with a sneer as he punched Steel with the force of an earthquake! The damage was so severe that Steel had powered down from the hit! Gold summoned his blaster and charged it to full power!
"Crimson Plasma Blast!" Gold fired a powerful beam of plasma at Sombra, but it had no effect! Sombra responded in kind by firing a blast of flame! Gold was sent reeling from the damage and powered down as a result! Meanwhile, the girls were watching from the command center and were horrified to see the rangers being beaten so badly!
"They might need out magic to help even the odds! Let's go!", Sunset said as she and the Main 7 teleported to the rangers' location. Back at the fight, Burst, Inferno and Shadow tried engaging Sombra altogether! But Sombra sent Shadow flying with a blast of wind and washed away Burst and Inferno with a jet of water!
"Ha ha ha ha ha ha! Useless!", Sombra boasted. "Don't you understand? You can't beat me!"
"We'll see about that!", Burst said as he and Inferno got back up. "Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon!"
"Meteor Black Comet Dragon!" Burst and Inferno powered up to their most powerful forms and summoned their weapons! "We aren't giving up without putting up a fight!"
"Then so be it.", Sombra said as he summoned his own sword. "Come! Meet your destruction!" Burst and Inferno charged and clashed blades with Sombra! But Sombra managed to push back and knocked both of them back!
"We can't give up yet! Can you still fight Inferno?"
"I'm a bit beat up, but I can still fight!" Inferno and Burst got back up and prepared to make another run at Sombra! Sombra smiled and fired a blast of dark magic at a bunch of civilians who were trying to get away! Chrysalis was shocked! Sombra had never deliberately attacked any who were trying to escape before! Burst noticed where Sombra was aiming and took the force of the blast!
"Go! Get out of here!" Burst staggered to get up as Inferno helped him up. Meanwhile, Sunset and the rest of the Main 7 had arrived just in time.
"Alright girls! Let's do it!" The girls ponied up and prepared to unleash their magic! At the same time, Burst and Inferno were giving all they had against Sombra! The two of them were grappling against him, but it was soon clear that both of them were outmatched!
"How pitiful. I'm only a bit stronger and I've already crippled you two so much.", Sombra said with a sneer. The girl had their magic ready to go, but Sombra noticed them about to fire! "I think not!" As the girls released their magic, Sombra threw Burst and Inferno right at the blast of magic! Sunset and the girls only realized this before it was too late!
"Cut off the magic! Cut it off!" As the magic died down, the girls rushed to help the rangers up! Burst and Inferno were on the ground and powered down. A faint rainbow glow was coming off of them. Sombra laughed at the sight before him.
"So this is how the great Duelist Rangers fall. Not even able to take me down with them! Come Chrysalis. We've more pain in store for them later!" Chrysalis nervously nodded as she and Sombra teleported back to their fortress. Burst and Inferno managed to get up and join the others and tried to morph, but nothing happened!
"Girls? Just what did your magic do to our morphers?", Burst said as he and Inferno tried to morph again to no avail. "Last time I checked your magic purified or banished evil. So why did it short-out our morphers?"
"Burst I'm sorry. We all are.", Sunset pleaded. Burst took note of her words and laughed. "What's so funny?"
"We're not mad Sunset.", Inferno replied with a smile. "In fact, it's kind of funny when you think about it. We handle monsters and villains no problem and yet we lose our powers to weapons-grade love and tolerance." Everyone's spirits lifted slightly as they shared a laugh.
"But aren't you scared? What happens when Sombra and Chrysalis come back?", Aj asked.
"I'll be honest Aj. We're all terrified. But we're not gonna let that stop us.", Steel replied. "There's no way we're gonna leave our home to fend for itself!" Soon the alarms went off! A portal opened outside the command center and Chrysalis stepped out.
"Looks like we have an uninvited guest.", Nightmare said as she noticed Chrysalis's arrival.
"It looks like she wants inside...", Ice said with a frown. "Just what does she want anyway? Did she come here to gloat?"
"Might as well see what brings her here.", Pegasus said. "We're already on our knees as is." Pegasus opened the command center doors and Chrysalis went inside. "So your majesty? To what do we owe the pleasure of your visit?" Everyone was surprised to see tears streaming down Chrysalis's face. Burst was the first one to walk up to her.
"Chrysalis? Please. Tell us why you're here." Chrysalis looked up and pounded on Burst's chest!
"Please! Save Sombra! He's not the same! Ever since that monster fused with him, he's changed! He's become a completely different person! He's not the man I knew! Not the...not the..."
"Not the man you loved.", Celestia answered. Chrysalis broke down in tears.
"I don't care if you banish me or even imprison me for the rest of my life! Just save him!" Burst walked up to Chrysalis and put a hand on her shoulder.
"We'll do everything we can!", Burst said with a smile. Chrysalis couldn't believe it!
"Why?...Why are you being so kind to me! I've tried to destroy you all at any chance I got! So why show me any decency?!"
"We're the good guys.", Inferno said with a chuckle. "We wouldn't be good heroes if we didn't show kindness to even our worst enemies."
"However, we're gonna be outmatched.", Gold mentioned. "You and Burst can't morph. That means we're going to be down two of our best fighters."
"Nice try with the logic Gold, but we aren't staying out of this fight for the world!", Burst said with a smile. "We can't leave our friends hanging!" Burst then turned to Chrysalis. "And if we win this, we'll also make sure you and Sombra get your own happy ending too."
"Th-that's quite generous of you. But how are going to make it so people wouldn't hate us?"
"Actually, nobody knows you were behind the attacks. Did either of you two broadcast that you were responsible for the attacks?"
"I know I never did.", Moon replied.
"Wow. Neither have I!" Soon the monster alert was blaring!
"Heads up guys! Looks like Sombra's back!", Gold said as he looked at the monitor! "You guys do know you can't morph right?"
"Like that's going to stop us from having your backs! Let's go guys! This is it!" Burst and Inferno put their hands in a circle. One by one, the other rangers did the same.
"RANGERS FOREVER!", they shouted as they teleported to their final battle! When they arrived, Sombra was just beginning his attack. He noticed the rangers and turned to face them.
"Well, well. I didn't expect the two of you to survive that blast of magic. But oh well. Now I get to finish you all myself!" Sombra sent out a wave of darkness that knocked the rangers back! "None of you can best me! My dark magic and Five Headed Dragon's might are unbeatable!" Burst got up and gazed defiantly at Sombra!
"You're wrong! There is a stronger force! A magic beyond anything you could ever understand!"
"And what's that?", Sombra asked with a sneer.
"Friendship! It's the bond we share and one that will never break!" Soon a huge light flashed out of nowhere, and a set of gems appeared out of the light! Back at the command center, Sunset and Nightmare couldn't believe what they were seeing!
"Those! Those are...!", Sunset gasped.
"The Elements of Harmony...", Nightmare whispered in awe. Soon a rainbow of light shot right at Burst and Inferno's morphers! When the light died down, the elements faded away and Burst and Inferno's morphers were transformed!
"Let's show him just how strong friendship really is! IT'S MORPHIN' TIME!", Burst yelled as he, Inferno and the other rangers morphed! When the light died down, the rangers stood in their morphed forms! But Burst was wearing platinum armor over his ranger suit while Inferno was wearing black meteor ore armor! All in all, they looked down right majestic! The girls and Pegasus were in awe of the new armor Burst and Inferno had! "Blue Eyes Absolute Ranger!"
"And I thought we looked cool with our power ups!", Ace said in awe!
"Let's do this guys!" Burst summoned his new weapons! Using his new blaster, but was shocked to find that the Neutron Blast was the standard attack! "Looks like this new armor gives us quite the power up!" Sombra was sent reeling from the force of the blast! Burst then charged towards him! "You guys gonna join in or what?" The other rangers summoned their weapons and joined the battle! Sombra had recovered, but was met with a strike from Burst's saber which was followed from a barrage of blaster fire from Inferno! Ace and Shadow charged up their weapons and landed critical slashes while Steel fired a bolt of energy from his sword! Gold and Ice then fired powerful charged shots from their blasters from above! Sombra couldn't handle the onslaught of attacks from all the rangers at once! The damage was so extensive it managed to free him from Five Headed Dragon's influence! Burst saw his chance, and ripped Sombra out of the armor that was controlling him! Sombra groaned as he recovered.
"Note to self...never do that again. NOT fun." Sombra was freed, but the battle was far from over! Five Headed dragon fully formed and grew to enormous size!
"Now looks like a good time to call in our shiny new Megazord!" The rangers summoned their zords in their upgraded forms and combined to form the most powerful Megazord yet! "Harmony Absolute Megazord online! Summon Megazord Saber!" A gigantic sword dropped from the sky and landed in the Megazord's hand! Five Headed Dragon let out a fearsome roar as it unleashed a combined element breath attack!
"Shield's up!", Steel said as he raised the Megazord's shield! Blocking and neutralizing the attack! "Let's see how he likes his own morning breath!" The shield glowed and a powerful beam was shot right at Five Headed Dragon!
"Our turn now! Let's do it Shadow!", Ace said.
"Right! Harmony Dragon Seal!" A seal was shot from the Megazord's saber! Binding Five Headed Dragon in place! The Megazord charged right at him!
"Dragon Soul Slash!", Ace cried out! The Megazord unleashed a destructive slash! Five Headed Dragon howled in pain!
"Let's finish this together guys!", Burst said as the Megazord glowed with rainbow colored light! "We charge this attack with all of our might! For our families, for our friends!"
"ABSOLUTE NEUTRON FLARE!", the rangers cried out as one! A rainbow-colored neutron blast was fired from the Megazord's bare hands! Destroying Five Headed Dragon completely! The whole city cheered as the rangers picked up Sombra and returned to the command center. Chrysalis nearly tackled Sombra while the girls went over to the rangers.
"Well what're we waiting for?! It's party time! You know the best place Pinkie?", Burst asked. The rangers and their friends headed for Sugar Cube Corner, and proceeded to party like they never had before!
The rangers celebrated their victory! Chrysalis and Sombra were back together, and now they could have a normal life. "Well how about that?", Inferno observed. "Looks like everyone got their happy ending!"
"Truth be told, I didn't think this was how we'd find up defeating the badguys.", Steel added.
"You complaining?", Ice asked. "I don't mind at all."
"Steel's just saying it was unexpected.", Ace replied. "Plus you and Shadow still need your happy endings!"
"And what's that supposed to mean?", Shadow asked.
"Ace and I ain't telling!", Sonata said with a smile as Ace's brothers kept asking them whet they meant.
"Shouldn't you all be partying?", Gold said with Sunset on his arm. "By the way where's Burst?"
"He said he was planning something special. No idea what though...", Inferno said as he and the rangers rejoined the party. Soon the lights went off and shone on a stage. Burst walked out carrying an electric guitar and played a little before belting out the starting words to a song.

Everyone cheered for Burst's performance! Burst got off the stage and joined his friends. "Well guys! Looks like we can take on anything that comes our way from here! Now let's party!" The party was in full swing now! However in the shadows, a new threat was stirring.
"So you failed Five Headed Dragon.", Tirek said with a scowl. "No matter. These rangers will soon face far worse beasts than you. Come apprentice."
