Blood Moon

View Online

A lone pegasus mare walked down a dark hallway. Her hooves clanked against the tile floor, which happened to be neatly polished. Just like always. The pegasus was quite a sight. Her coat was a light shade of red, almost pink but not quite. Her mane was long and a bright red. It flowed over her shoulders like a river of blood. Her eyes were a neon yellow, almost as bright as Celestia's sun itself. A pair of red glasses sat comfortably on her snout. Her boss had called her to his office. He said he was giving her "a promotion". The pegasus smirked. Finally, FINALLY, she was going to be useful to Equestria. She opened the door and saw the unicorn stallion sitting in a chair staring at her, as if he had willed her to come to him with his mind alone.

"Ah, hello Blood Moon! I've been expecting you." said Doctor Ocarina, the unicorn stallion.

"I can see that..." muttered Blood Moon. She squinted. The room was very dimly lit. Doctor Ocarina walked up to her, and took his glasses off. Blood Moon blinked in surprise. He had beautiful tree green eyes that anypony could get sucked into. It looked like Ocarina could drain your soul just by looking at you.

"What have I come here for?" asked Blood Moon, hiding any traces in her eyes that would show that she was even slightly impressed by the looks of the unicorn. Ocarina put his glasses back on.

"Now, now, patience Ms. Moon...we have some...business to take care of." said Ocarina as he casually locked the door. Blood Moon narrowed her eyes. Ocarina pinned her against the wall and started softly kissing the back of her neck. Blood Moon didn't react and just stood perfectly still. She fluttered her eyes a couple times to make sure next time Ocarina looked at her she would look perfectly sexy. Ocarina took her glasses off and Blood Moon opened her brilliant eyes wide.

"Why must you wear these glasses, Ms. Moon? They mask your pure beauty and youth." snickered the unicorn. Blood Moon snatched her glasses back. She began to stroke Ocarina's mane and strategically moved her hips. She could be quite seductive when she wanted to, but that was not what she was after today. She grabbed Ocarina and smashed him against the wall when he was off his guard. She even bit his snout just to make her point. Blood trickled down Ocarina's nose and he snickered.

"Well you're feisty. Sorry, but I'M the dominant one here." said Ocarina. He rushed at Blood Moon before she could react. He pinned her down to the table and held his hoof on her chest. Blood Moon didn't struggle and let herself go limp under his weight. She had dealt with stallions like him before. He was just some sexist pig who just wanted-wait...Blood Moon's eyes widened. He wasn't banging her. He was strapping her down by the torso. Ocarina turned on the light that made Blood Moon shade her eyes. Now looking around, all Blood Moon could see was surgical tools.

"You see, in order to test a new medicine I'm making...I need to see an organ...very closely. Normally, I would just slash you to pieces right here right now but since you're so tough...I can let you wait." said Ocarina. He took a blue chainsaw and attached it to a metal pole. He hit a red button and the chainsaw revved as it was being lowered closer and closer to Blood Moon's heaving bosom. For the first time in her life she broke out in sweat.

"No. This is NOT over." said Blood Moon.

"Gaze upon my freaking YOUTH!" Blood Moon shrieked as she tore her glasses from her face and chucked it at the big friendly button Ocarina had pressed. The torso strap released Blood Moon and the chainsaw stopped descending. In a flash, the adrenaline pumped pegasus grabbed the chainsaw and brandished it. When Ocarina was a good distance away, Blood Moon grabbed her glasses, dropped the chainsaw, and crashed through the window. She plummeted down with glass in her mane. She flipped her mane and unfurled her wings, making her take off look quite...well...sparkly.

"THE WORLD SHALL KNOW OF YOUR CRIMES!" yelled the red pegasus as she flew away.

A flustered pony pounded on the door. Ocarina opened the door to a forest green earth pony with a darker mane and bright orange eyes.

"I'm so sorry sir! W-we tried to chase her or get her on radar b-but she was too f-fast and-" rambled Ocarina's assistant. Ocarina but a hoof to his lips.

"It's ok. She bested me too. Just put up the forcefield, retrieve the body, and get me a new test subject. Preferably a stallion. They tend to put up less of a fight."

Blood Moon kept flying. She was almost home, almost- her thoughts were interrupted when she flew into what felt like solid concrete with electrical shock. She was knocked back and fell to the ground. Blood Moon opened and closed her eyes a few times before she blacked out.

When Blood Moon woke up she saw a pair of orange colored eyes looking down at her.

"You're incredibly strong. That blow should've killed you." said the pony. Blood Moon groaned. She sure FELT dead.

"I suppose we keep you as prisoner until we decide what to do with you." said the pony. He picked her up and put her in his back. Blood Moon froze. She resented being touched. Losing all rationality, she wrestled the stallion to the ground, and he yelped in surprise. Blood Moon put him in a headlock and nearly choked him before she was pinned again. Blood streaked down the pony's cheek.

"Go to hell." he said. Blood Moon laughed dryly.
"Where do you think I came from?" murmured Blood Moon. She delivered a swift jab to the pony's windpipe. There was a sickening cracking noise, and the pony dropped dead.

"Nopony takes me..." said the red pegasus before she blacked out and stealth copters silently carried her sleeping body away.

Ditzy awoke with a start. Those nightmares again...well at least this one wasn't brutally murdered. Ditzy practically fell out of bed, rubbing her eyes in hopes to make the bags around them disappear. She walked down to the control room to say hello to the Doctor, but she couldn't see him. She opened the TARDIS doors and let herself float a bit. She climbed to the top of the TARDIS so she could see the nearby planets and stars. She was surprised to see River curled up on the top of the TARDIS. Ditzy flicked her tail, irritated. She could barely TOUCH a part if the TARDIS without some small explosion over her head, but River could make herself perfectly comfortable. Ditzy sighed. She really did envy River.

The Gods Who Rule Us

River's eyes slowly opened and she stretched comfortably as she basked in the warmth of the nearby sun. She turned to see Ditzy Doo, the pegasus who served as her husband's companion stared at her blankly.

"It's peaceful up here, isn't it?" said River, trying to break the ice. Ditzy's feathers bristled.

"Space makes me nervous..." said Ditzy. River nodded.

"Of course it does. It's bigger than you. Everypony is naturally scared of things bigger than them." said River. Ditzy gritted her teeth. River could see right through her and she hated that. She was right. The universe put Ditzy on edge because when she thought of the universe she felt small. She didn't like feeling small, thinking about it too much made her skittish and agitated.

"That's not true!" said Ditzy lying through her teeth. River smirked.

"Oh yeah? When was the last time you had a chat with a griffon? Negotiated with a dragon? Discussed the weather with a manticore?" River could go on, but she had made her point. Ditzy looked like she was about to evolve into Rapidash. The TARDIS lurched, and Ditzy was almost knocked off. River got tense and dug her hooves into the top of the ship, as if sensing it's movements. The TARDIS flicked angrily to the right and Ditzy flew to the doors. She could hear the Doctor muttering under his breath and pacing.

"Doctor? Are you ok?" asked Ditzy. She trotted up to the Doctor and gave him a concerned look.

"The TARDIS is being pulled in by something, and I can't break free!" said the Doctor. Ditzy looked around the room nervously.

"Um...guys? You might want to see this." said River. The TARDIS was coated with a golden and midnight blue auora. Ditzy flew up to investigate. The golden mist made River look even more striking. Ditzy thought she had seen somepony important use magic this color. Her thoughts were interrupted when the midnight blue mist started wrapping itself around her. Soon, Ditzy's body was completely coated in blue auora.

"D-Doctor?!" said Ditzy. That was all she could get out of her mouth before she was yanked down to the closest planet at full speed.

"DITZY!" yelled the Doctor. The TARDIS lurched, clearly not supported as well when there was only one field of magic supporting it. Wherever Ditzy went the TARDIS was about to join her.

"Hold on!" shouted River as their ship was pulled toward the planet.

Ditzy was being pulled toward her own planet. She tried to fight against the field of blue magic, but she couldn't. She shot to Equestria like a bullet. Soon, she broke the sound barrier and bubbles flew everywhere. Ditzy gasped. She remembered reading in a history book that even before the Sonic Rainboom there was something called a Sonic Bubbleboom. The performer was unknown. Had SHE been the one who did the Sonic Bubbleboom? It was an accident! What time period was she even in? Ditzy blacked out as she crashed through a window and hit the floor hard.

When Ditzy opened her eyes she gasped. Staring down at her was the princess of the night, Princess Luna. Ditzy gulped. She was in the prescence of a goddess.

Containing Chaos

Ditzy became lost in the jasmine ocean that was Luna's eyes. The goddess smiled and Ditzy scrambled to her hooves. Oh Celestia oh Celestia oh Celestia. She had broken a princess's window.

"I-I'm so sorry! I just don't know what went wrong!" stuttered Ditzy, bowing down to Luna. A bit of her hair stroked Ditzy's chin and softly picked her head up. Luna's hair felt like clear night mist on Ditzy's cheek.

"It's ok. I did bring you here after all." said Luna. There was a loud crash and the alicorn and the pegasus spun around.

"Oh. I suppose those are your friends." said Luna. Ditzy gasped.

"Doctor!" said Ditzy, running to the next room with Luna right behind her. There was a large hole in the ceiling. The TARDIS was in the room and the princess of the day was sweating.

"Oh dearest sister! Art thou alright?" asked Luna, adressing her sister formally. Celestia nodded.

"Yes, yes, this...box just took a bit of effort to pull in." said Celestia. Luna cocked her head.

"But dear sister...I don't mean to be rude but...this box is so tiny!" said Luna. Celestia shrugged and the two alicorn sisters jumped when two ponies tumbled out of the box, one stallion and one mare. Luna blushed wildly, and Celestia nudged her as if telling her she had a dirty mind. The chestnut colored stallion and the curly maned mare looked up at the goddesses.

"Ah! Hello! Um, I'm the Doctor, this is my wife River and my companion, Ditzy, and um, well...hello!" said the Doctor. Celestia remained silent and Luna still looked fascinated with the size of the blue box.

"Um...pardon me...but how do you three ponies fit in such a tiny box?" asked Luna. The Doctor smirked and outstretched his hoof, gesturing to his ship.

"Be my guest." said the Doctor. Luna looked at him and then timidly stepped inside, placing her hoof gently in the box. Luna gasped and looked at the Doctor, her turquoise eyes gleaming with excitement.

"HUZZAH! IT'S BIGGER ON THE INSIDE!" shouted Luna. Celestia peeked in, and though she was amazed, she remained her formal princessy self.

"Now Luna. It is rude to use the Royal Canterlot Voice in front of ponies of such importance." said Celestia. Luna blushed. The mare with the blonde curly mane stepped forward.

"Pardon me, princess, but what have you called us here for?" asked River. Celestia leaned in, and looked quite intimidating.

"First of all, what were you doing in the heavens and are you a threat?" asked Celestia. Ditzy trembled and the Doctor spoke up.

"Um, yes, we travel through space and time and no. We actually save entire planets." said the Doctor. Luna's expression softened, and while her expression remained deadpan, Celestia's tone of voice became warmer.

"Then we must ask you a favor. Something you may never accomplish, and may die trying." said Celestia. The three time travelers kept there gaze on Celestia, undaunted. Luna nodded at her sister and Celestia kept going.

"I need you to apprehend the God of Chaos."

The Mission

"D-Discord? As in THE embodiment of chaos?!" stammered Ditzy. Celestia sighed.

"I know it is a lot to ask from three little ponies. Perhaps I should just stop this right now." said Celestia. The Doctor wore a determined look and trotted up to Celestia until he was almost touching noses with the goddess. He smirked.

"We are NOT just ponies. I'm a Timelord from the planet Gallifrey. I'm an alien. My wife is also part timelord, a portion of her DNA is Gallifreyan." said the Doctor. Luna let out an amazed gasp and Celestia raised an eyebrow. She raised her hoof and pointed at Ditzy.

"And what's so special about her?" asked the sun princess. Ditzy sulked in shame. Nothing about her was special. Absolutely nothing. She was just a crooked mare. The Doctor smiled.

"She's my companion. That makes her very VERY special. Do you think just anypony can take a tour of the universe with the Doctor?" asked the Timelord. Luna's eyes grew bigger and Celestia leaned closer to the grey pegasus.

"What is your name, companion of the Doctor?" asked Celestia.

"D-Ditzy Doo." said Ditzy. Celestia nodded.

"Very well. Then you shall be given the details of the mission." said Celestia. The Doctor cocked his head.

"Wait, who is this "Discord"?" asked the Doctor. Celestia bowed her head and murmured under her breath.

"So you don't know him. I envy your ignorance." said the princess of the day bitterly. Luna's gaze softened upon the three ponies.

"Discord is the embodiment of chaos. He has been wreaking havoc in Equestria for a long time now. We can use our magic to imprison him in stone, but he won't stay still long enough for us to do it." said Luna. The Doctor nodded, fascinated.

"What does he look like?" asked the Doctor. Luna used her magic to manufacture a hologram of the god of chaos.

"He is a draconequus, and he has the body of many different species of animals." explained Luna. The Doctor carefully inspected the hologram.

"Oh? I thought he'd be a bit more...intimidating." said the Doctor. Luna remained grim while River tried not to smile at the draconequus's goofy appearance.

"Do not be fooled. He has unspeakable power. He has been known to dramatically change the weather, brainwash animals, and even completely alter a pony's personality! Equestria is spiraling into chaos, Doctor!" said Luna. Ditzy recalled when Discord was released from his cold stone prison. Yes, there were showers of rain turned into chocolate milk, mutant bunny stampedes, and he had almost drained the powers of Twilight Sparkle's friendship magic, rendering the Elements of Harmony useless.

"So where do we come in?" asked Ditzy. The two alicorn sisters looked surprised that she had spoken.

"Corner him. Keep him talking. Entertain him. Just do anything you can to keep him still long enough for my sister and I to put an end to his merciless chaotic rule." said Celestia.

"But do be careful! Outside the castle is when things will get dangerous" said Luna, seeming to care more about their well being than the elder sister. The three ponies walked out of the castle, not looking back. Celestia looked on with hope and Luna looked on with concern.

"Oh Tia, was this the right thing to do?" asked Luna.

Ditzy, River, and the Doctor walked out of the castle confidently. Well, at least until they saw the mess in front if them. River and the Doctor merely stared while Ditzy gasped, frightened. This was no cotton candy raincloud storm.

Of Storms and Murder

View Online

The Doctor leapt out of the way as a large bolt of lightning struck the spot he was just standing on. Looking around, the three ponies could see the crisis unfurled in front of them. Lightning was striking ponies running away in terror and killing them on contact. Mutant animals were ripping the city apart and ponies were turning grey. Those very grey ponies were murdering eachother brutally. Ditzy choked back a terrified sob.

"I can't watch this..." murmured Ditzy.

"We have to run!" shouted the Doctor as another bolt of lightning nearly hit River. The three ponies galloped away as the day turned to a dark night without the faint light of the moon. They came upon a destroyed hotel and they took shelter there. Ditzy breathed heavily and fought back tears.

"Why? He was never like this...he was NEVER like this." panted Ditzy. River's ears perked up and she leaned closer to Ditzy.

"Have you experienced...THIS before?" asked River. Ditzy just shook her head.

"Yes. He was released one thousand years later from his stone prison. But...he never did anything like this! He never hurt anypony..." said Ditzy. The Doctor was stroking his chin and throwing his sonic screwdriver in the air. It flipped in the air before it fell back into his hoof.

"So he DOES eventually get turned to stone." said the Doctor. Ditzy shrugged.

"I don't know. But the scene outside...it just doesn't make sense." said Ditzy. A sinister chuckle filled the broken down room and Ditzy jumped.

"Sense? What fun is there in making sense?" asked a strange voice. The Doctor stood up and put his sonic screwdriver in his pocket. (Yes, ponies have pockets.)

"Who's there? We mean no harm to you, we just want to know who you are!" said the Doctor. The voice laughed once more and a draconequus materialized in front of the three ponies. He examined them and stroked his beard thoughtfully.

"Never seen you before! Possible new victims to torture? Oh, I simply MUST know who you are!" said the draconequus, his voice dripping with fake sincerity. The Doctor pushed the two other mares behind him and spoke up to the god.

"I'm the Doctor. This is my wife River Song and my companion Ditzy Doo. And just who might YOU be?" said the Doctor. Ditzy trembled and poked the Doctor's shoulder.

"D-Doctor, that's Discord!" said Ditzy. The Doctor's eyes widened and Discord raised an eyebrow.

"Oh! Glad to see somepony knows who I am." said Discord. River pulled herself away from the Doctor and stomped her hoof.

"Why should we let ourselves be ruled by a monster like you!" shouted River. Discord rolled his eyes like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"Why? Because I'm FABULOUS!" said Discord. He threw some glitter in River's face and she coughed. Discord laughed.

"Oh, you ponies are so great!" said Discord in between bursts of laughter. An aura of electricity formed around Discord's manticore paw.

"Such a shame I have to kill you."

Saved by the Sonic

"SCATTER!" shouted River. The two pegasus mares flew off in different directions and the Doctor ran after Ditzy. Discord snickered, happy with the challenge of the hunt and flew after River.

"RIVER!" screamed Ditzy. It was clear Ditzy was about to fly after River, so the Doctor quickly grabbed her tail.

"She'll be fine, just run! She's my wife for Celestia's sake! She's not going down without a fight!" said the Doctor. Ditzy looked doubtful before flying off again.

"What are we going to do?" asked Ditzy. They ran about the hotel looking for shelter. They came across a supply closet dotted with cobwebs. The Doctor shoved Ditzy inside before leaping in himself.

"We're going to hide!" whispered the Doctor. He motioned to Ditzy to be quiet and she obeyed.

River had the same idea as the Doctor. She was a faster flyer than Discord which bought her some time to find a decent hiding spot. She flew into a guest room and locked the door behind her. She slid under a dusty old bed and kept perfectly still. She forced herself to slow her breathing and even quiet her rapid heartbeat. Twenty minutes passed.

Discord was getting frustrated. He couldn't find any of the ponies he was trying to kill. He huffed. He was getting very bored very quickly. Suddenly he had an idea, and he expressed that with a sinister smile. He snapped his fingers and spoke.

"Oh how clever of you, hiding from me. However, I'm sorry to say that Discord allows nopony to escape him. I have just improved my hearing to be twenty times better than before. If any of you make a sound, any sound, even if your heart beats just a bit louder than it should, I will find you. And kill you. You insist on starting a game, my little ponies. I'm merely playing it." said Discord, loud enough for every hiding pony to hear. River would have gasped if her life wasn't in danger. Her entire body tensed up. She didn't move a muscle.

Ditzy would have screamed by now if the Doctor's hooves weren't holding her mouth shut. Ditzy's chest rose and fell faster. Pretty soon her heart would give them away, and the Doctor knew this. He flung the closet open and leaped right where he was in plain sight. Ditzy gasped.

"D-Doctor, what are you doing?!" hissed Ditzy. Of course, Discord had heard everything and was flying right for the Doctor. The Doctor pulled out his sonic screwdriver and was fiddling with it. Ditzy was covering her eyes, and Discord was coming closer. The Doctor smirked and rose his screwdriver in the air.

"Cover your ears, Ditzy!" said the Doctor. Ditzy reluctantly put her hooves to her ears. The Doctor waited until Discord was only a few feet away from him, holding his paw up in preparation to provide a devastating blow. Even the Doctor cringed when he hit the button, and a high pitched, shrill sound emanated from the sonic screwdriver. Ditzy, who had her ears covered screamed as trickles of blood escaped her ears. The sound was unlike anything Ditzy had ever heard, and it was painful. For Discord it was sheer agony. The high pitched screams of Ditzy only made it worse. He roared and covered his hyper sensitive ears, but to no avail. His eardrums had bursted, and he was rolling on the floor in the pain and the unbearable ringing in his skull.

"That's what you get for breaking the rules!" said the Doctor, looking at Discord triumphantly.

"COME ON EVERYONE, RUN!" shouted the Doctor. Ditzy was quickly on her hooves and following the Doctor. River had flown out of her hiding spot and joined the Doctor and his companion. Ditzy looked at the Doctor, irritated.

"Thanks for rupturing my eardrums!" shouted Ditzy, unable to hear anything correctly what with the horrible ringing in her skull. River chuckled, even though the blast of sound had hurt her too.

"Still alive!" said the Doctor with a trace of irritation in his voice.

Ditzy had no witty comebacks for that one.

An Unstable Universe

The three ponies kept running until they eventually found refuge in a hollowed out tree in the gardens. They were cramped but at that point nopony could really care less. Ditzy gasped for air and her chest heaved.

"D-Doctor...what was that?" Ditzy pointed at his screwdriver.

"It's my sonic screwdriver, convenient and capable of doing many things including saving our lives." said the Doctor. Ditzy cringed and gently felt her ears. The fur was stained red with blood. River looked at her sympathetically.

"Including rupturing the poor filly's eardrums." said River. Ditzy quickly shook her head.

"It's fine! The Doctor saved my life yet again." said Ditzy. River nodded and Ditzy looked away.

'I just wish he could save me from insanity.' thought Ditzy. The Doctor shifted, slightly uncomfortable with the sudden bursts of attention and praises and gratitude.

"Well nothing's going to get done if we sit here chatting. Might as well get some rest and tomorrow we can think about just how we're going to catch Discord." said the Doctor. The others nodded and murmured their agreements but in reality River was the only one who truly fell asleep. The Doctor stayed awake. First of all, he wasn't the least bit tired and second of all he feared Discord would hunt them down while they slept. Ditzy remained awake in fear of the nightmares that had been haunting her. The two ponies soon found themselves quietly talking.

"Doctor...I've been wondering..." said Ditzy. The Doctor looked at her intently.

"What is it?" asked the Doctor.

"You remember when I got trapped in the other universe, right? Well what...happened?" asked Ditzy. The Doctor cringed. He really didn't want to tell her the truth.

"What do you remember?" asked the Doctor. Ditzy shrugged.

"The TARDIS landed in the Everfree Free forest...I got curious and went out to explore....oh yeah! I found this weird snowglobe and I picked it up. I shook it and...that's all I remember before I got caught in the snowstorm." said Ditzy.

"Then it's worse than I thought..." the Doctor mumbled.

"Eh...what do you mean?" asked Ditzy shakily. The Doctor sighed.

"Well...there are many other universes aside from the one Gaia inhabits, and oddly enough, they're connected which don't get me wrong is fantastic, absolutely brilliant. It's just that they aren't connected very well. Each planet, star, or moon is extremely loosely connected." said the Doctor. Ditzy cocked her head, not quite understanding what the Doctor just told her.

"Loosely connected?" asked Ditzy.

"Very, VERY unstable. This is a web of galaxies where the mere twitch of a foreign object can send another universe spiraling into a void of nothingness." said the Doctor.

"And...what does that mean?" Ditzy stammered. The Doctor sighed. There was no going back now.

"Theoretically it is absolutely possible that every second that goes by there's a chance that..."

"Don't stop!" said Ditzy.

"There's a chance that this entire universe could be destroyed."

The Plan

View Online

The next morning, River slowly aroused and blinked the sleepiness from her eyes. The Doctor was awake of course, and his companion sat next to him, her eyes wide open. River groaned

"Am I the only pony here who needs sleep?" River mumbled. The Doctor chuckled.

"Perhaps." said the Doctor. Ditzy was hungry. She wanted muffins. Ditzy immediately perked up at the thought of muffins. She tried not to salivate, and shook the thoughts of food away, but her stomach protested, and growled voraciously.

"Am I the the only pony who's starving?" asked Ditzy, mocking River's tone. River glared at her.

"Where are we going to find food? Do muffins grow on trees?" River asked. Ditzy pondered this.

"YES." said Ditzy. River facehoofed. The Doctor got between the mares and laughed.

"Easy there, fillies! Muffins may not grow on trees but I'm sure berries do. I'll go collect some. Don't worry Ditzy, I'll be back." said the Doctor. Ditzy crossed her arms.

"I can take care of myself..." Ditzy mumbled as the Doctor left the tree. Ditzy laid down on the soft leafy floor and let her thoughts drift. Would she tell the Doctor about experiment 101285? About Ocarina? Oh Celestia, where did she put the file? Should she burn it? What about her? Clearly she's some kind of danger to Equestria, or even the Doctor! Maybe she should kill herself...a clattering noise was heard from the outside of the tree. Ditzy hadn't even noticed River left the shelter. She returned with a large stick. Ditzy jumped out to see what River was up to.

"River? What are you doing?" asked Ditzy. River began to draw in the sand.

"Making a plan." said River bluntly. Ditzy cocked her head.

"For what?" asked Ditzy. River rolled her eyes.

"To capture Discord if course." said River. Ditzy immediately perked up.

"Oh! Can I help?" asked Ditzy. River thought about this. Ditzy batted her crooked eyes cutely.

"Please?" Ditzy asked. Suddenly River smirked.

"Oh yes. You can be the bait."

Strong Like a Diamond

"Wh-what do you mean, 'bait'?" Ditzy stuttered. River rolled her eyes.

"Oh sweetie, how slow can you be? You distract the monster while the Doctor does some timey wimey thing he always manages to pull out of his ass at the perfect time." said River. Ditzy cringed and gritted her teeth, swallowing every desire to slap the smooth talking pegasus.

"N-No way! I-I am not doing that!" shouted Ditzy. The Doctor entered the room and looked at both mares staring at eachother with great intensity, neither one of them daring to blink.

"What's this about things and the doing of them?" asked the British stallion.

"Your lovely wedded wife wants me to be draconequus bait!" Ditzy waved her hoof about furiously. River groaned.

"PLEASE don't be a chicken. You're just like the rest of his awful companions..." River spat, her voice filled with venom. The Doctor glared and grabbed Ditzy's shoulder.

"Oui! None of my companions are 'awful'! One of them is your MOTHER for crying out loud!"
The Doctor retaliated. River bit her lip.

"She's an exception and you know that!" River shouted. The Doctor tightened his grip on Ditzy.

"Either way, she is not going to be bait. She could be killed!" said the Doctor. Ditzy suddenly felt self conscious. She pulled herself away from the Doctor's grip and stamped her hoof like a child.

"Doctor! I'm not fragile!" Ditzy shouted. The Doctor buried his head into his hoof, exasperated.

"Maybe. But even a rock can be demolished with the right tools." said the Doctor, trying to keep bitterness out of his tone. River watched the entire scene as if it were a soap opera. Ditzy narrowed her crooked eyes.

"Then consider me a diamond." Ditzy growled. With that she stormed out of the shelter. River joined the Doctor.

"See, she'll be fine. She's a diamond." said River, clearly a bit too amused for the Doctor's taste. The Doctor looked towards the exit where Ditzy had left with concern.

"I know countless things in the entire multiverse that can shatter a diamond like glass."

Striking Down a Time Lord

Ditzy reentered the shelter.

"Doctor, I can do it. I may be scared, but I can do it!" said Ditzy. River scowled.

"Enough chitchat! Is the filly in or out?" asked River. The Doctor grimaced, and looked at his companion. Such a beauty she is, with her mane flying about like strands of sunshine. He wouldn't lose her. He wouldn't lose another companion. Not in this universe. Ditzy nodded.

"Yes. I'll do it." said Ditzy. The Doctor grabbed Ditzy's hoof and looked into her eyes.

"Ditzy, you can't, that creature has the power of a god. It will kill you." said the Doctor. Ditzy narrowed her eyes and slapped the Doctor's hoof away.

"Listen here, Doctor. I take it upon myself to protect Equestria, no matter the cause. Now what if I can change history? What if I help the Princesses defeat Discord? But what if none of that ever happens because YOU were too selfish to let me go?!" Ditzy shouted. The Doctor met her head on.

"I'm not being selfish, I'm trying to protect you!" said the Doctor.

"You want to protect me? Let me go. Don't let me wallow in the guilt that I did nothing to aid in the defeat of this tyrant. You may have a machine that can dances across time and the stars like a pegasus dances across the clouds, but you cannot control everything in this universe, Doctor." said Ditzy, pulling away from the Doctor. Ditzy walked up to River, looking her in the eye.

"Where do I start?" asked Ditzy. River smirked and the Doctor exited the shelter. He sat in the grass, staring at the sky. The Doctor smiled. Ditzy Doo. She may not be human, but she's exactly like all the other companions who came before her. The Doctor closed his eyes, remembering all the past companions he had. Rose, Martha, Donna, Amy...all of them lost to him. He could not let Ditzy vanish like that. He could not let her go. The Doctor frowned.

"You. Stop the act. I know you're here, I sense you." said the Doctor. There was a soft chuckle.

"Very good, Time Lord." said Discord as he materialized from thin air, clapping slowly. The Doctor stood up.

"How do you know what I am?" asked the Doctor. Discord merely laughed and examined his talons.

"I'm capable of many things, Doctor." said Discord.

"You don't know me." the Doctor growled. Discord frowned.

"Oh but I do, 'Mr. Spock'. You are just a lonely creature, the last of your kind, running away from your past in a small blue box. The pitiful universe you resided yourself in burned, there is nothing left of the race you did love so much, the 'humans'. But being the hitchhiker of the cosmos you found yourself here, even found a little mare to replace the companions you've lost. But you will abandon her, you will leave her all alone in the dead silence of space to save her from the ghosts that will never stop chasing you, always asking you one question...Doctor who?" said Discord. The Doctor covered his head.

"Y-You're taking my memories...you're digging your way through my very thoughts..." said the Doctor. Discord laughed.

"Ah yes, you catch on quick, Time Lord. Oh, what's this? A plan to apprehend me? Oh, dear, you already plan to throw the cross eyed pegasus into danger for your own good?" said Discord. The Doctor charged at Discord, only to be stopped by a magical barrier.

"If you even do so much as SCRATCH her I will kill you." the Doctor growled. Discord outstretched a talon and lightly touched the Doctor's forehead,

"What are you doing? Is this how you plan to kill me?" asked the Doctor. Discord held his talon in place.

"No...I'll leave the killing to you." said Discord, withdrawing his talon. There was a bolt of electricity, and the Doctor's eyes glazed over. He collapsed on the ground to the sound of Discord's maniacal laughter.

The Mind of a Mad Pony with a Box

The Doctor held his head as if it would split like a melon. He was falling. He was used to falling, in fact he enjoyed falling. But this kind of falling is different. This is the kind of falling where you slip in a dream, and you become uncertain if you'll ever wake up. The Doctor fell into a spiraling darkness, unable to shout. He felt as if his soul was being ripped away from his body. Finally, he fell to the cold stone ground.

"Ngh..." the Doctor grunted, checking to see if he broke anything. Miraculously, none of his bones were broken, but his twin hearts were beating like the wings of a hummingbird. He looked around.

"Well then, um, guess the first thing is to find out where I am, eh? Ditzy or River don't seem to be here at the moment but I talk to myself all the time. Don't see why I should stop now." said the Doctor, looking into the darkness. A voice groaned.

"Still disgustingly chipper as ever I see. Why must you torture me so?" said the voice. The Doctor leapt in surprise, looking around to find out who had spoken. He narrowed his eyes.

"Hello? Is anyone there?" asked the Doctor. The voice completely ignored him.

"Are you still traveling with a horrid companion? Who's the lucky pony?" asked the voice. The Doctor cocked an eyebrow, looking around suspiciously, as if he expected to be attacked.

"Her name is Ditzy Doo, and she's not horrid! She's a beautiful mare." said the Doctor.

"Rubbish." huffed the voice. The Doctor narrowed his eyes further, unsure which direction to glare.

"Well that's simply your opinion. Was there something you wanted?" asked the Doctor. The voice laughed.

"Oh, I desire nothing. I cannot have a desire. You see, I am a demon. I simply follow my master's orders. I often call myself a hellish marionette." said the voice. The Doctor cocked his head.

"Then why do you want me? What does your master want you to do?" asked the Doctor. The voice muttered something under it's breath. The sound of it was deep and metallic, sending shivers down the Doctor's spine. Somewhere deep in the darkness, there was a devilish grin.

"This." said the voice. There was a flash of piercing light blue light in the darkness. The Doctor shouted in surprise and cringed. There was movement, and something hit him hard, knocking the air out of his lungs. The Doctor found himself pinned against a stone wall, unable to move and barely able to breath. He looked into the demon's eyes without fear. But what he saw frightened him more than any monster he had ever encountered. In front of him was a grey pegasus stallion with a slicked back shiny black mane and piercing ice blue eyes. The stallion had a black bow tie tied around his neck. Dear God, when did he decide a bow tie was a good idea?

"Who are you?" asked the Doctor. The stallion kept his vice grip on the Doctor, his hoof pressing up against the Doctor's throat so hard he was afraid any more pressure would result in a snapped windpipe. The stallion narrowed his sharp blue eyes. He released the Doctor's throat. The two stallions stared at eachother. The Doctor gulped, not wanting an answer from the demon. He already knew the answer but it contained a reality the Doctor was not willing to accept. The grey stallion laughed.

"You know who I am." said the stallion. The Doctor nodded slowly. Beads of sweat formed and evaporated as the Doctor stared the pegasus straight in the face. The Doctor narrowed his eyes. If this passive creature did not want to show signs of emotion then neither would he. Instead, the Doctor walked closer, until their noses nearly touched and whispered in his ear.

"Hello, Doctor."
