A whole year has gone by since Nathan was adopted by Princess Cadance and Shining Armor, now before too long he is going to be a big brother.
A whole year has gone by since Princess Cadance and Shining Armor adopted Nathan, for he is now 6 years old and has adjusted to his new life in Equestria, but now a bigger joy comes into his life when he learns that he is going to be a big brother soon, but when the baby finally arrives it's not as much fun as he thought.
Nathan was now 6 years old and had already adjusted to his new life, going to Ponyville on weekends to visit his Aunt Twilight and cousin Spike, hanging out with the five elements of harmony, and crusading with the CMC for he was made a member and the first one to be a boy. He was also still taking flying lessons from Princess Celestia in Canterlot, due to the fact that he was still trying to get into the flying mood with his bat wings that Twilight gave him a year ago, but he didn't really care about that because it was only one more month until the second family child was coming, which meant he was going to be a big brother, due to the fact that back on Hearth's Warming Day when Cadance told him that she was pregnant.
In the Crystal Gardens...........
Nathan was strolling around talking and meeting with crystal ponies and some of his friends from Ponyville at Cadance's baby shower, even Celestia and Luna were there. As Nathan was walking with punch in his hand, he accidentally bumped into Celestia who was talking to Shining Armor about what gender the baby was and what they would name it if it was a boy or a girl.
"Oh, sorry Ms. Celestia, ah' didn't see ya there." Nathan said
"It's okay Nathan, just pay attention to where you're going next time." Celestia said
"Ah' will." Nathan said
"So, Nathan, are you ready to become a big brother?" Luna said out of nowhere
"You bet ah' am." Nathan said jumping
"Okay, I know you're excited, but you need to settle down dear." Celestia said levitating him.
On the other side of the Crystal Gardens.....
Rainbow Dash, Twilight, and the others were drinking crystal berry punch that Flash Sentry had made for the shower, and were talking to Cadance and Shining Armor about the baby and what will become of the Crystal Empire in the future when their baby will be ruler in the future.
"So you see girls when our baby becomes the next heir, The Crystal Empire will be given more power of love and given full control of the frozen north." Cadance said
"What about Nathan," Twilight asked, "What will he inherit?"
"He'll inherit my rank as Captain of the Royal Guard when I'm gone." Shining Armor said.
"Oh so our Nathie is going to be the future Captain?' Pinkie Pie said, "cool."
"MAIL CALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Yelled the mail pony from the entrance to the garden he was levitating a letter that was for Cadance and Shining Armor, when Nathan got it for them and Cadance opened it, it was from Doctor Whooves.
"Well what does it say sweetie?" Shining Armor asked
"Dear Princess Cadance and Shining Armor"
"We got the results from the scans yesterday, and we have greatly been informed that the gender of your baby is a filly."
"Yours Truly"
"Doctor Whooves"
They were relieved, after two weeks of waiting they finally got the gender, Shining Armor stood up and levitated bell and started to ring it.
"ATTENTION EVERYPONY!!!!!!!!"
"WE JUST GOT THE RESULTS FROM DOCTOR WHOOVES MY WIFE AND I ARE EXCPECTING........A NEWBORN FILLY!!!!!!!!!"
Everypony applauded about this, including Nathan, he already knew what gender a filly was, he was going to have a little sister, suddenly the bell rang again, it was gift time, they had already knew it was going to be a filly because they had gifts for a baby girl.
The first gift opened was a beautifully made floral crown from Rarity.
The second gift opened was a dress from Applejack and Fluttershy.
The third gift was a small made wonderbolt uniform from Rainbow Dash and Spitfire.
Fourth was a 100 good wishes quilt that was made by Twilight and Shining Armor's parents Twilight Velvet and Night Light.
Fifth was a nice beautiful crown and chest piece with a heart on it from Celestia and Luna.
But wait one other gift was missing........Nathan's, because he did have one, or two gifts for her.
"Nathan where's your gift for us sweetie?" Cadance asked
Nathan slapped himself, how could he have forgotten, he left his gifts inside the castle.
"Ah'll be right back y'all." he said dashing to the castle.

After waiting for nearly five minutes they finally heard Nathan walking back into the gardens holding two wrapped presents in each of his arms both were matching size, Nathan walked up to his mom and handed her the first gift, when she opened it, it was a little shirt, but what it said started making everypony snicker in awe........
"I'M A TEXAS FILLY" is what it said, and it had a picture of Texas with the state flag imprinted in it.
"Don't worry sweetie, I'll make sure she wears this." Cadance said
"Mommy, this second gift isn't for the baby, but for you." Nathan said handing her the second wrapped gift, Cadance opened it but what it had inside made her gasp in surprise, it was a bouquet of flowers with a card attached to it, when she opened she melted tears down her eyes by what it said...
"TO THE BEST MOTHER EVER"
"I LOVE YOU MOMMY"
Cadance scooped up Nathan and hugged him tightly, Nathan returned the hug.
"Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Everypony in the crowd cooed.
"Sweetie, this is the most generous thing you've ever done for me, thanks dear." Cadance said, giving her son a kiss on his head.
"Mommy!" Nathan playfully whined.
Suddenly the bell rung again, Shining Armor wanted to give another speech.
"I just want to say thank you for attending our baby shower, the gifts are a joy to us, plus we would also like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Cake for baking us the cupcakes, plus Flash Sentry for the crystal berry punch, we do expect our filly to arrive in three weeks, thank you all for coming, take care of yourselves, everypony." Shining Armor said.
As Nathan was about to go back to the castle, Applejack and the others stopped him.
"So she's gonna be a Texas filly huh?" Applejack said
"Hey ah'm a Texas boy, so she's a Texas filly."
"Hehe, I guess that makes sense." Rainbow Dash said
"What are your parents going to name her huh, huh, huh, huh???!!!!" Pinkie Pie asked jumping up and down around him.
"Sorry, Pink, but that's a family, so ah' can't tell anypony, 'cept Aunt Twilight." Nathan said pointing his finger at her.
Twilight blushed, "Looks like I'm the special pony."
"Yeah, Aunt Twilight, 'cause yer' family, aren't ya?" Nathan said jumping on her chest and wrapping his arms and legs around her.
"Of course I am dear." Twilight said wrapping a hoof around her nephew.
Nathan didn't see his parents exit the gardens because he felt himself being levitated by Cadance.
"All right Nathan, that's enough for tonight, it's almost bedtime sweetie." Cadance said
"Yes mommy." Nathan said grappling Cadance's back, "Bye Aunt Twilight, bye gals." Nathan said waving his hand at them as the left for the castle.
"BYE NATHAN." They all shouted as they watched him leave with his parents.
As they started back to the train platform Twilight was already imagining about her upcoming niece and what she would be like, when a hoof waving snapped her out.
"Dreamin' 'bout yer' niece?" Applejack asked
"What do you think?" Twilight asked giving Applejack a playful shove.

Meanwhile in the castle Cadance was getting Nathan in his pajamas and ready for bed.
"Mommy, is it really going to be three more weeks?" Nathan asked as Cadance levitated him into his bed.
"Sweetie, I already sad yes." Cadance answered.
"Well let's hope it comes, will it?" Nathan asked jumping up and down.
"Well it'll come quicker than you know it." Cadance said, giggling.
"Good night sweetie." Cadance said giving him a goodnight kiss on his forehead, "I love you."
"I love you too mommy." Nathan said.
Cadance blew out the candle and closed the door, and with that Nathan drifted off to sleep with Eddie in his arm.
The three weeks had come to a complete end, it was Friday, and the filly was set to come on Monday. Meanwhile, Nathan was in his bedroom packing bags along with his music player, Pikachu pillow and green and blue plaid blanket and got ready for his journey to Ponyville, because he was going to spend the night with Twilight while Cadance and Shining Armor were going to spend their night in the hospital.
As Nathan got his last bag packed, Shining Armor entered his bedroom.
"Hey Sport, ready to go?" He asked
"Yes Dad." Nathan said grabbing his packed bag, pillow, and blanket. Shining Armor started to walk out the door, but not before looking the new crib that was going to be for his sister, it was in his bedroom, he couldn't believe he was going to have to share his bedroom with her, and not just his bedroom....

Auugghhh!!!!, this was going to be so much trouble for him, having to give half of what belonged to him to his sister, but he decided to hold that off and enjoy whatever time he had left of being an only child, and he was going to spend it with Twilight.
They had finally reached the bottom of the stairs where Princess Cadance was there with bags of her own ready for their wagon when it got here, as Nathan was about to head out the door with his stuff, he was suddenly stopped by levitation.
"Sweetie, aren't you forgetting something?" Cadance asked opening her forehooves for a hug.
"Oh yeah, hehe." Nathan said putting his bags down and running up to her, he gave her a quick hug and kiss, same applied for Shining Armor.
"Now listen Nathan, you listen to Aunt Twilight and do what she says, no misbehaving, no troublemaking, and no doing things without permission, understand?" Cadance asked
"Yes, mommy." Nathan said, Cadance then gave him a good-bye kiss. "Okay sweetie enjoy yourself, we'll see you here Monday with your new baby sister." Cadance asked, Nathan then left the castle and headed towards the train station he took one quick look back and saw a wagon pulling up towards the entrance of the castle, saw his parents get on it with their luggage, and watched it depart for The C.E. Medical Center.
Quickly, Nathan turned his attention towards the edge of the Crystal Empire where the train platform awaited. Nathan stepped onto the platform where he was joined by a group of ponies going to Ponyville as well, as he waited for the train to show up he was looking down, distraught and saddened, but his sadness was cut off when somepony tapped him, Nathan looked up and saw that it was a white pony with a blue mane and tail, and her cutie mark was a treble clef music note, and she was wearing goggle like shades.
From the look of it she did look like Shining Armor, only not.
"Hey kid why the long face?" she asked him
Well, mah' mommy and daddy are fixing to have mah' new sister tomorrow and, unfortunately ah' have to share mah' stuff, and not that mah' new bedroom with her." Nathan said
"Wow, that's a tough one isn't it? she said
"Tell me 'bout it." Nathan said
"Well kid I don't believe we've been introduced, I'm Vinyl Scratch, but everypony calls me DJ PON-3 for a nickname."
"Nice ta' meet ya' Vinyl ah'm Nathan Cadenza, Princess Cadance and Shining Armor's son."
Suddenly Vinyl remembered the day that flash of light appeared above the skies above the Crystal Empire, it then hit her, this human was the flash of light.
"Wait a minute, you're that human that crashed here in the Crystal Empire a year ago, aren't you?" Vinyl said
"Yes." Nathan said
"Well anyway, what was the name of that place you're from, Tennis?" she asked
"Texas." Nathan corrected.
"Well, maybe you could take me over there." Vinyl said
"Well, ah'd love to, but ah' can't because the portal that ah' came through is gone, ah've got no chance of ever returning, and ah' may never see any of mah' old friends again." Nathan said, looking down again, that's when Vinyl embraced him.
"Hey don't worry, lil' bro', you probably will see them again one day." she said
"Ya' think so?" Nathan asked
"I know so." Vinyl said
"Thanks Vinyl." Nathan said giving her a hug, that's when they heard the sound of the train pulling up.
"Hey how about you and I sit together and listen to some music." Vinyl said
"Okay, ah've got a music player in mah' backpack, and ah've got a genre song that ah' think might be your kind of music since ah've guessed yer' a DJ."
"Yup." Vinyl said, she levitated Nathan onto her back along with his stuff and together they boarded the train together, they found a comfy seat by the window and sat Nathan down by the window while Vinyl sat next to him.
Later.......
"Ponyville, next stop." said the conductor as the train came to a complete halt at the Ponyville train station. Nathan got off while Vinyl Scratch followed behind him.
"Hey kid, listen, it was nice talking to you, I've never gotten to meet a human before." she said
"Bye Vinyl." Nathan said giving her a good-bye hug.
Before too long Nathan was founded on the train platform by Twilight and Spike.
"Ah'm just upset that ah' have ta' share mah' stuff when she comes." Nathan said
"Everything?" Spike asked
"EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Nathan screamed causing Spike to flinch, Nathan suddenly felt his ear being levitated and pulled hard he turned and saw Twilight staring at him angrily, but was not willing to harm him.
"Nathan Cadenza, calm down right now!" Twilight said.
"Yes Aunt Twilight." Nathan said
Twilight let his ear go and they proceeded to her castle.
They had finally reached the castle, Twilight levitated the doorknob open and they walked inside, once Nathan entered one question came to his mind...
"Aunt Twilight, where am ah' s'pose to sleep?" he asked, resisting the urge to yawn, Twilight took him upstairs.
"You'll be sleeping in the guest bedroom which is that room right there." She said pointing her hoof to a door on the far end of the hall, Nathan picked up his stuff and walked towards the doorway, and entered his temporary bedroom, complete with a furnace, a nice warm fresh bed to sleep in, a sink, candles on each nightstand, and a nice balcony view of Ponyville.
Nathan unpacked his iPod and music dock and set it on the left nightstand, then he unpacked his toothbrush and toothpaste and set it on the side of the washing sink, last he took his Pikachu pillow and put it on the bed. Once he was unpacked he went into the new library, flew up to the shelves, and proceeded to pull out a book.
"Daring Do And The Quest For the Sapphire Stone", it read
"Huh, looks and sounds a lot like Indiana Jones, this ah' gotta read." He thought, as he pulled it off the shelf, he went back to his bedroom and started to read it, a few minutes into the book he was soon interrupted by the door opening, it was Twilight.
"Hey Aunt Twilight." he said fixing to turn his attention back to the book.
"I see you're reading the first story in the Daring Do series, I told Rainbow Dash once that I own every book in the series."
"Ah' know, ah' saw." Nathan said, not paying attention to her. "Ah'm reading it because it sounds and looks a lot like Indiana Jones."
"Who?" Twilight asked
"Indiana Jones, he's like Daring Do, an adventurer, but he's also a history professor, and he's always out searching for treasures, but always has to fight, bad guys, booby traps, and gross things to get to the treasure, and he carries a whip and a gun with him, in fact ah' brought a book of him for you to read ah' read the whole thing, Aunt Twilight."
Nathan went into his bag and pulled out a book, when Twilight levitated it, it read...
"Indiana Jones And The Army Of The Dead"
"Thanks Nathan I'll start reading it maybe it sounds better." Twilight said
"Oh don't worry Aunt Twilight, he sure is." Nathan said.
"Listen sweetie, I'm going to go out and meet with my friends at Sugarcube Corner for some cupcakes, if you want you can join us later on, we'd be more than happy to have you." Twilight said
"Ah' will Aunt Twilight, but ah' wanna read this book for a while, and if ya' want ya' can take that Indiana Jones book ah' gave ya'." Nathan said, "Show it to Rainbow Dash when you see her."
"I will sweetie, see you over there soon." Twilight said nuzzling his cheek, Nathan wrapped his arms around her and hugged her tightly.
"Bye Aunt Twilight." Nathan said, Twilight then left, leaving her nephew to continue his reading of the first Daring Do novel.
Twilight was quickly joined by Spike just outside of the castle with a small bag of gems clutched in his right hand.
"Spike, where did you get that bag of gems?" Twilight asked
"Rarity gave them to me for helping her unload a box of new sewing equipment." Spike said
"Well that was very generous of you Spike." Twilight said, as they walked away from the castle, Spike turned his head back at it, he really wasn't sure about something, so he tapped Twilight.
"What is it?" Twilight asked
"Twilight are you really sure about leaving Nathan in there by himself?" he asked,
Twilight rubbed her chin, but then cut off the thinking, "Don't worry Spike, he can handle himself."
"Twilight he's six years old, I don't really follow this, we have to go back and get him, I don't find it right to leave a kid his age someplace alone by himself." Spike said
Twilight finally got some common sense knocked into her, "You're right Spike, what am I thinking!" and so she marched right back into the castle up to the room that her nephew was staying in..
Nathan was sitting down enjoying cupcakes with Twilight and her friends.
"So Nathan, you ready to become a big brother?" Pinkie Pie asked
"Am ah' ever!" Nathan mumbled with mushed cupcake in his mouth.
"Nathan chew with your mouth closed sweetie." Twilight said
"Yes Aunt Twilight." Nathan said swallowing.
A question came to Nathan's mind, "Hey Applejack, weren't ya' excited when you heard you were going to be a big sister?"
"Ya'll bet ah' was sugarcube." Applejack said smiling as she pulled out a picture of her as a filly holding Applebloom when she just came out of the hospital.
"What about you Rarity, weren't ya excited as well when you heard about Sweetie Belle coming?"
"Of course I was darling." Rarity said levitating a cup of tea.
Nathan really couldn't believe it his aunt had two friends that were big sisters and he was about to join their club.
It was past midnight in Ponyville, everypony was sleeping, including Nathan, he was already dreaming of his new sister and him becoming strong friends and even what they could be doing in the future of Equestria. Spike was upstairs sleeping in his basket, when a sudden puke feeling awoke him, he got up, belched green fire, and out came a scroll, but it read was not from Princess Celestia but instead read............
"Dear Twilight"
"I know it's late, but Shining Armor and I have good news........our baby has arrived, we want you, Spike, and Nathan to come here to the CEMC and check her out, she is 4 lbs 3 oz. and has pink skin like me, she's got my mane and Shining Armor's eye color."
"Sincerely"
"Princess Cadance"
Spike couldn't believe it, the baby had finally arrived, quickly he dashed out of his basket and into the castle library, where he found Twilight doing some late night research on portal spells for Nathan."
"TWILIGHT, TWILIGHT, TWILIGHT!!!!!!!" he said yanking on her wing, Twilight quickly got the attention, but shushed him.
"Spike, shhhh, we don't want to wake Nathan up." she whispered.
"Okay, sorry."
"Now why such a hurry?" Twilight asked
"Well read this." Spike whispered giving her the scroll, when she read it, she was just as excited, her new niece was now officially born.
"Okay, should we tell Nathan?" Twilight asked
"Well, obviously, she wants us at the Crystal Empire Medical Center immediately, so come on let's go get Nathan up." So they walked towards the guest bedroom, where Nathan was asleep, they smiled at this, he was cute when he was sleeping.
They saw a little twitch coming from him, "You know what Spike I think he dreams, did you see him twitch?" Twilight asked
"That I did, Twilight." Spike said
"Yeah, well I'm going to go wake him up." Twilight said, she walk towards his bed and placed a hoof on his back.
"Nathan, Nathan, wake up sweetie." Twilight said, gently shaking him.
"unngh!" Nathan grumbled while turning over.
"Nathan wake up." Twilight said
"Ah'm asleep, Aunt Twilight." Nathan said with his eyes still closed.
Twilight giggled, "Well you won't be so sleepy, when you see your new sister."
"What?" Nathan said immediately waking up.
"We just got a letter from your mom, sweetie, your sister has just been born."
"YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Nathan said hopping out of his bed and jumping up and down on the floor with joy.
"All right sweetie, calm down, get you jacket and shoes on, we're going to the Crystal Empire."
"At this time of night?" Nathan asked pointing at the clock.
"Yes, sweetie, mommy knows you want to see your new sister, so she wants us over there, now go on get your jacket and shoes on, it's cold out." Twilight said.
"Yes, Aunt Twilight." Nathan said quickly putting on his shoes and jacket.

A couple of hours later, they were off the train and entering the Crystal Empire at night, beautiful and lit up just like Christmas, and pretty soon they were at the Crystal Empire Medical Center's entrance, where they were greeted by the nurse.
"What room is she in?" Twilight asked
"She is in room 337, third floor second hall on the right." The nurse said, pointing her hoof toward the elevator lobby, Twilight, Spike, and Nathan walked away from the main desk and headed towards the elevator where they entered, when they got to the third floor, they were quickly greeted by Twilight Velvet and Night Light, Twilight and Shining Armor's parents, and Nathan's grandparents.
"Grandma, Grandpa!" Nathan said, running up to them and embracing them.
"Hey cowboy." Night Light said giving Nathan a noogie.
"Hi dear." Twilight Velvet said hugging him, "You ready to see your new sister?"
"Yes, ah've been waitin' all weekend." Nathan said jumping.
Twilight Velvet chuckled, "All right dear come on." She levitated him onto her back and all five of them headed towards room 337, where Cadance and Shining Armor were waiting.
They had found room 337 and quietly opened the door, and what Nathan saw surprised him, his mother still lying in the hospital bed with Shining Armor at her side, anyway, Cadance was lying in her hospital bed holding a new baby filly in her forehooves, bundled up in a blanket, and asleep with a pacifier in her mouth.
Night Light levitated Nathan over to the edge of the hospital bed for him to get a closer look.
"Here you go, cowboy." he said putting him down on the bed, now he was sitting in the hospital bed with his mother smiling at him.
"Nathan, say 'hi' to your new baby sister......Skyla." she said lifting her up for him to see, when Nathan saw into her sleeping face, she was as beautiful as a flower in bloom.
"Dad, what's the color of her eyes?"
"Same as me, bud." Shining Armor said, patting him, Nathan went back to looking at his new little sister seeing how cute she was, Twilight also was with glee, for her new niece was now born.
"Baby Skyla" She thought to herself, "I like it"
Nathan on the other hand, was now daydreaming about all the fun he could have with Skyla, not even knowing what was going to happen once they brought her home.
While Nathan was holding her, she opened her eyes a little, Nathan gasped out of fear that she might cry loudly, but instead, she dropped the pacifier out of her mouth and said with a soft coo..."Baba."
Nathan was on the verge of wanting to cry tears of joy, for she had now known about her big brother, Nathan looked up with wide sad puppy eyes, "Ah' hope ya'll heard that, she called me 'baba'."
Everypony giggled at this, pretty soon, Cadance tapped her son.
"Come on, dear, hand her back to me."
"Yes mommy." Nathan said giving Skyla back to Cadance.
Nathan was now a big brother, but it was not turning out as he thought it would be, he couldn't go into what once was just his room, because he was now sharing it with Skyla. Anyway, he couldn't go in there to play because Skyla would always be taking her nap in there, he couldn't hang out with his friends that much anymore, because he would always have to watch her, nopony would pay attention to him anymore, and he couldn't make any noise or he would wake her up.
But for this day it would prove to be the final straw for Nathan as he saw Shining Armor giving Skyla his teddy bear, he was now jealous of Skyla, in the past two weeks, she had taken everything away from him. Nathan trudged into the bedroom, flapped his wings, and jumped onto the crib, successfully snatching 'Eddie' from Skyla, but instead he only made her cry, and then Nathan looked up to see Shining Armor outraged.
"Nathan, what..are..you..doing?!" Shining Armor asked through clenched teeth.
"Dad, Eddie is mine!" Nathan said clenching the bear in a greedy gesture.
"Nathan, give me that bear, you're too big for Eddie, it's about time we gave it to someone who needs it more." Cadance said entering the room with a fresh diaper to change Skyla with.
"But mommy......." Nathan whined.
"Nathan Elisha Cadenza, give me the bear, or you're going for a hoofbacking!" Shining Armor said, raising his forehoof.
"No!" Nathan said attempting to flee with 'Eddie', only to be stopped and levitated by Shining Armor, he forcefully dragged him back and popped him on his butt, causing Nathan to go into tears.
"Nathan, we are busy right now, so please leave before we lose our temper." Cadance said, showing bloodshot eyes.
"But..."
"NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" they screamed with the most powerful raise of voice ever, this frightened him so much that he left the room and went to another bedroom, where some of his clothes were folded and ready to use, he ran to a chair in the corner of the room and bursted into tears, then anger and hatred started building in him, it suddenly came to false conclusions that everything was about Skyla now, so for Nathan, if it was Skyla only, then Skyla only it was gonna be!
He checked role outside the room and saw Cadance and Shining Armor leave the room with Skyla feeding from a bottle that Cadance was using, and they walked downstairs to the balcony to show The Crystal Empire their future ruler, when they weren't looking, Nathan stepped into the room and wrote a quick letter that read.......
"Dear Mommy and Daddy"
"I have been very greatful for you, but if all you care about is Skyla, then Skyla only you will get, I will not be replaced and become an outcast, over a newer, cuter, pinker model, so don't come looking for me, cause you don't love me anymore, I've ran away!"
"Sincerely"
"Nathan"
He folded the letter and put it on a pillow, then started packing some clothes, his DS, guitar, and some small snacks that he hid in the room, plus some money for a train ticket, he walked out of the room and downstairs, but not before looking out to the balcony where his parents were holding Skyla up for the crystal ponies to view at, he stared at them with tears going down his eyes, then headed towards the door.
Once he was far away from the Crystal Palace, he looked back one last time still with tears going down his face, but then started running towards the train station holding on to his stuff as hard as he could, finally he made it to the station, bought his ticket, and exited the ticket booth, just in time to see the train. He quickly boarded it and sat down in the second car close to the locomotive that was pulling it, he placed his bag and guitar on the side window and lied down, trying to hide his tears from everypony else that was on board.
"Goodbye, mom and dad, ah' hope you enjoy havin' one kid." he whispered looking at the far window that had the view of the Crystal Empire and the Palace, suddenly the train doors closed, the train's whistle blew, and the train left the station.
Back at the Palace, Cadance and Shining Armor, had just finished up their viewing of Skyla for the crystal ponies and started back inside, as Cadance handed (or hoofed) a now sleeping Skyla to Shining Armor, a feeling came over her, she got down on her back legs, and clutched her head with her forehooves.
Instead of answering him, Cadance ran upstairs in terror, with Shining pursuing her, they ran into the bedroom, where Nathan's bed lied empty, no Nathan, but instead a folded letter, Cadance quickly unfolded it and read it, but when she put it down...........
"Shining, he ran way from home!" Cadance said starting to cry.
"WHAT???????!!!!!!!!!!" He screamed, luckily he didn't wake Skyla up.
Nathan was sleeping when he was suddenly awoke to the sound of the train jolting, then coming to a complete stop. When he looked out the window he saw that the train was stopping at what appeared to be Canterlot, because the palace was at a good view from the train station.
"Canterlot Station." said the conductor, Nathan and about a few others managed to get off the train, the others went one way while Nathan went the other, some unicorns tried to say 'hi' to him, instead Nathan brushed them off and continued to walk straight to where he wanted to be...Canterlot Palace, where Celestia and Luna live, at least they loved him, and because of the fact that Celestia was continuing to teach him how to fly properly.
Pretty soon the city was out of view and the entrance to the palace was now in view, Nathan quickly ran towards it, but soon saw two guards standing there, quietly Nathan listened on to them.
"Well, it looks like our shift is over." One guard said.
"Yeah, let's head on down for the night." the other said, Nathan knew that this was his chance as he saw the two guards leave the entrance, he rapidly approached the entrance and discovered that the door was unlocked.
"Huh, they must need a lot of visitors." He thought as he entered the palace, when he entered it, it was huge, but from a quick look no sign of any indoor guards, but he decided to be quiet and take his time anyway. Nathan got a good tour of the hallways, it was amazing what they had built in this palace, but Nathan wanted to see Celestia and Luna and get some comfort from them.
As he approached a corner, he saw two big doors flung open and inside there was some kind of a light on, Nathan quietly approached but quickly hid behind one of the doors, inside he could hear the voices of what sounded like Celestia and Luna talking about some things, Nathan eyed in through a crack in the door, and it was confirmed that was Celestia and Luna talking to each other.
Nathan continued to hide until he heard hoofsteps approaching his way, he turned and saw Celestia and Luna walking out the door and out into the darkness of the palace hallways, Nathan got out of hiding and quickly dashed into the room, from the look of it, it was Celestia's bedroom, to his first left was Philomena's perch, Nathan looked up and saw Philomena sitting on it.
"Hi Philomena, it's me, Nathan." Nathan said
Philomena gave a low screech at him and attempted to touch him with her wing, but because she was a phoenix he backed away from her not wanting to get singed by her. Nathan then continued to explore this really was Celestia's quarters, because it had a make-up stand with doors filled with sweet smelling perfumes, a stand for her crown and necklace, and the light that was flashing was actually a nice, warm, fire that was sparking up in the fireplace.
Nathan sat down by the fire and warmed himself up as fast as he could, suddenly he heard hoofsteps coming straight for the bedroom that he was sitting in, he saw a small closet with the door open, quickly he dashed and quickly shut the door, but the door had shutters on it, so he peeped in and saw Celestia and Luna walking back in with blankets.
OUTSIDE IN THE ROOM
Celestia and Luna were bundling up by the fireplace in blankets, as they were getting warm around the fireplace, a strange sense came into Celestia.
"Sister what is wrong?" Luna asked.
"I sense something is in this very room." Celestia said, just then Luna looked over to see two bags sitting by the corner, she got out of the blanket and went over to check it out, the first bag was a guitar case.
"Sister, does thou know anypony that plays guitar?" Luna asked levitating the guitar case.
"No Lulu, because none of us have fingers." Celestia said
Then Luna inspected the second bag and unzipped it inside was a Nintendo DS, and a music player.
"Well, do any of us play video games, or listen to music?" she asked levitating both for Celestia to see.
"Again, Lulu, I say no." Celestia said, she then levitated the bag over to her, and on the front it read in ink.....
Nathan Cadenza
Suddenly, the same feeling came over Celestia, "He's in this castle!"
Their freeze was soon cut off by a crash coming from the corner closet, slowly, Celestia and Luna approached the door. Meanwhile Nathan peeped through the shutter and saw them coming towards the door, he knew he was going to be in for it, when they finally opened it, he gasped in shock.
"Nathan, what are you doing here, better yet, how did you get in here?" Celestia asked kneeling down and nuzzling his cheek, Nathan wrapped his arms and legs around her neck and hugged her tightly, Celestia wrapped her hoof around him.
"Nathan, I have to agree how did you get in here?" Luna asked.
"Ya'll left the front door open, and yer' guards tooted off fer' the night." Nathan said looking at Luna with tear filled eyes.
"Nathan what is thou that is troubling you?" Luna asked rubbing his shoulder.
Nathan just started to cry, Luna levitated him off of Celestia and into her arms, then she hugged him in a comforting move.
"Shh, no tears, we are here for you." Luna said gently rubbing his back, Nathan was still teary eyed but was starting to calm down.
"Now tell us sweetie, why are you here, why aren't you at home?" Celestia asked
"AH' RAN AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Nathan screamed, Celestia and Luna gasped.
"Why, sweetie?" Celestia asked
"Because mom and dad care more 'bout Skyla than me." Nathan said
Celestia got an idea, "Come sweetie, join us by the fire, let's talk."
Celestia and Luna got back under their blanket along with Nathan in between them.
"Now tell us what's all this about dear?" Celestia asked
"Skyla's taken everything away from me ever since we brought her home, ah' can't make any noise or ah'll wake her up, and she even took mah' teddy bear away from me, when ah' tried to get it back, mom and dad yelled at me."
"Yelled at you, why?" Celestia asked
"'Cause they were too busy with her."
Nathan covered his eyes, "Ah' never have them for mahself no more."
He started to cry again, Celestia rubbed his shoulder then pulled him up to her chest.
"I know how you feel sweetie." Celestia said
"Ya do?" Nathan said looking up at her smiling face.
"Of course I do, I had the exact same thought, when Luna was born."
"Sister, I've heard this story before." Luna said
"Yes, but Nathan hasn't, so I'm going to tell him, you're just going to have to listen." Celestia said.
Nathan was resting his head on Celestia's chest, while she had her hooves wrapped around him, Luna was just sitting there with a pouty face.
"I remember I was just a filly in magic kindergarten, I had just come home from school, only to find my Aunt Solar Beam sitting on the chair waiting for me."
**FLASHBACK**
"Aunt Solar, why are you here, where are mommy and daddy?"
"Well sweetie, they've been at the hospital."
"Why?"
Solar Beam walked up and levitated Celestia to hold her.
"Because, you're sister is going to be born later on tonight, so they left me to take care of you, while they're over there."
I jumped up and down in excitement, but I was quickly stopped by Aunt Solor.
"Wow Ms. Celestia were ya' really that excited?" Nathan asked
"Well I was relieved when they came home that night." Celestia said "It had gotten cold out, but yet I was snapped by the sound of the doorbell ringing."
**FLASHBACK CONTINUED**
I was sitting with my aunt on the couch, when the sound of the door bell got her attention, aunt Solar Beam hopped off the couch and walked towards the door and opened it, and there stood my parents with a newborn filly in my mom's arms.
"Where's our new big sister?" my dad asked
They were soon giggling to the sound of me running up to see who my new sibling was, and I started to jump up and down.
"LET ME SEE HER!!!!", I said still jumping up and down, my dad levitated me up close, and there she was a blue new baby alicorn, but then I quickly knew what I wanted to know what her name was.
I asked, "What's her name?"
"Say hi to your new sister, Princess Luna." My dad said, but almost half the evening I just sat there and smiled.
"But what happened during the next few weeks she was there?" Nathan asked
"Well let's just say, like you, things weren't exactly as fun as I thought either, that is until one afternoon, the weather team had just produced a severe thunderstorm over Equestria, my parents were heading out for royal duties that afternoon, and of course, I wasn't too happy about it."
**LAST FLASHBACK**
"But mommy!" I whined
"No 'buts' young filly, your father and I have royal duties and we cannot find anypony to look after Luna yet, so until we can find somepony to look after her, you will be, starting now, are we clear?" she said to me
"But, it's just that, ever since Luna came in you've never had time for me, it's all about her and work." I tried to say.
"We'll have to talk about this later sweetie." they said to me before leaving the castle, leaving me all alone with Luna, I then looked out the windows and saw that it started to rain heavily, I walked back upstairs and entered my room, which I was forced to share with her."
"Just like ah'm doin' with Skyla." Nathan said.
"Anyway, I saw her there lying in her crib playing with some of my toys, she was staring at me giggling while I was giving an opposite expression."
I said to her, "I would've loved a pet but what I get is not a phoenix but YOU!"
Suddenly, I looked out the window and saw that the thunderstorm was pouring rain down even harder, the lightning flashed even harder, but I just ignored it and just went over to my make-up desk and pouted, just then I saw that the lightning outside was starting to make scary looking shadows, that's when I heard Luna crying in her crib.
"Wow, was she cryin' cause she was scared?" Nathan asked
"Yes" I heard her crying and then just pouted even harder trying to ignore her, my expression soon changed when I felt my heart lifting, soon after I couldn't bare to hear her crying anymore, so I walked over to her and gave her my teddy bear.
I picked her up and sung her a lullaby.
Nathan was now on the verge of light tears as he heard Celestia calmly singing the lullaby, maybe he should do this to Skyla.
As soon as I finished singing it to her, there she was asleep in my hooves, I smiled and fell asleep with her on my bed.
"Wow, Ms. Celestia, and ya'll grew close." Nathan asked.
"That we did Nathan, Luna and I have..." She was soon cut off when she saw Luna still had the pouty face on her, Celestia cocked an eyebrow and smirked.
"Wait here, Nathan." Celestia said walking up to Luna, as Nathan was just about to look away, he heard Luna laughing, Nathan looked back over and saw that Celestia had one hoof pinning her to the floor, while her other hoof was tickling her belly, Nathan smiled at this, Royal Sister Love. he thought.
Soon Celestia and Luna had their attention turned back on Nathan.
"So you see Nathan, after a while I got used to her, and look at us now, we do royal duties together, and we have learned to look after one another." Celestia said, "Having a sibling is a good blessing for a kid your age, if you give Skyla a chance I'm pretty sure that when you all are the captain and the princess of the Crystal Empire, you two will have something special for each other."
Nathan ran up to her and hugged her, before too long he and Celestia were outside in the gardens walking, and as music started playing in the background.
Celestia As you go through life you'll see, there is so much that we don't understand. And the only thing we know is things don't always go the way we planned.
But you'll see everyday that will never turn away, when it seems all your dreams come undone. We will stand by your side filled with hope and filled with pride, we are more than we are, we are one.
Nathan If there's so much I must be, can I still just be me, the way I am? Can I trust in my own heart, or am I just one part of some big plan?
Celestia Even those who are gone are with us as we go on, your journey has only begun. Tears of pain, tears of joy, one thing nothing can destroy, is our pride deep inside we are one.
We are one, you and I, we are like the earth and sky, one family under the sun. All the wisdom to lead, all the courage that you need, you will find when you see, we are one.

They were now back at the castle, entering a guest bedroom, Nathan crawled into bed while Celestia tucked him in.
"Goodnight dear, my guards notified your parents that you're here, so tomorrow I will bring you back home."
Nathan gave her a good night hug, but before asking her one other thing.
"Will you give me a goodnight kiss?" he asked, Celestia giggled and kissed him on his forehead.
Nathan was in the royal kitchen with Celestia and Luna eating breakfast, Nathan was in a hurry to get back home, out of fear that Cadance and Shining Armor were going to backhoof him for running away from home.
"Nate, slow down dear, what's the hurry?" Celestia asked
"Ah'm scared that dad might backhoof mah' behind."
"Don't worry sweetie, I'm going to talk to them about why you ran away, and don't worry I'll be mother hen on them and make sure they spend time with Skyla and you."
"Thank, Ms. Celestia." Nathan said, suddenly a guard approached them.
"You majesty, your carriage awaits you." he said.
"Thank you, Luna take charge while I'm gone, I'm going to be gone for quite a while." she said winking at Nathan.
Pretty soon they were outside the castle with Nathan and his bags, and the flew away from Canterlot back to the Crystal Empire.

Meanwhile at the Crystal Empire, Cadance and Shining Armor were discussing with his parents about what had happened.
"Why did Nate run away?" Night Light asked
"I don't know dad, maybe he was mad." Shining Armor said, suddenly he was slapped by his mother.
"'I don't know' have you lost your...." she was soon cut off by the sound of knocking on the door, when Princess Cadance went over to open it, to her surprise it was none other than Nathan and Princess Celestia along with her carriage parked out in the street.
"Shining he's back!" Cadance said Shining ran over to the door knelt down and hugged Nathan, then Cadance who was more worried than Shining Armor was.
"Nathan don't ever do this to us again, you had us worried sick!" Cadance said rasping.
"And what's worse, you could've hurt yourself!" Shining Armor said.
"Go to your room young man, we'll deal with you later." Cadance said, as soon as they watched Nathan storm upstairs, they turned back to Celestia, Night Light, and Twilight Velvet, who were showing angered looks.
"What are you so antsy about Cel?" Shining Armor asked
"I have to agree with Shining Armor, Aunt Celestia, Nathan had us worried sick, we've been trying to get him to concentrate more on Skyla than himself."
WOULD YOU LISTEN TO YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!!! Celestia screamed with the most highest RCV ever, so loud that it shook the hallway, nearly causing a piece of crystal to break off the ceiling.
"Don't you see what you two are doing?" Night Light said, backing Celestia up.
"You all are favoring!" Twilight Velvet said, raising her voice, also backing Celestia up.
"Shining Armor, Princess Cadance, can't you see this is why Nathan ran away, you two have been favoring Skyla, Nathan even told me you took his teddy bear from him to give to her, that was his teddy bear, can you not see how mean that was?" Celestia asked showing a serious look.
"But, Aunt Celestia, he's too old for Eddie." Princess Cadance said
"Cadance, he's only 6 years old." Night light said.
"And he also told me that you were way too harsh on him the day before, how you screamed at him, kicked him, and for what, the baby!" Celestia said
"Now I am not being a mother hen, but I am saying spend time with both of them, can you do that for us, son?" Twilight Velvet asked rubbing her son's cheek with her hoof.
"Yes mom." Shining said
"Cadance can you do it too dear?" Celestia asked
"Yes." Cadance said
"All right then, we'll see you later." they said heading out the door.
"Shining, I'll go up there and talk to him, you stay here."
"All right sweetie." Shining said as he watched Cadance walk up the stairs.
Meanwhile in the bedroom, Nathan was curled up in his wings and crying over what had just happened, he soon found out he couldn't wipe his tears no more and just buried his face in his pillow and bawled, suddenly he heard the sound of his bedroom door opening, it was Cadance.
"Nathan, what's going on in here?" she asked, instead Nathan just continued to cry.
"Nathan, what's the matter?" she asked entering the room and sitting down on his bed beside him.
"Ya...Ya...Ya'll don't love me n-no m-more!" Nathan said looking up at her with tear-filled eyes.
Cadance picked up and sat him on her lap, "It's okay sweetie, you don't have to explain, Celestia told me everything."
"She did?" Nathan asked wiping the tears off his face.
"Yes, and that's why I came up here, I wanted to apologize for what happened the day before, it's just that your dad and I have been under a lot of pressure lately, and also your sister is very little and she needs a lot of attention, that's why she cries." Cadance said
"But we're sorry for everything we did you, can you forgive me?" Cadance asked
Nathan smiled, "You're mah' mom, ah'll always forgive you." he said hugging her.
"Oh sweetie." Cadance said returning his hug.
"Well since tomorrow is Saturday, how about we all go to Ponyville and spend the day there, possibly show Skyla to the others, and maybe talk to Aunt Twilight about all of us seeing a movie." she said.
"It's a deal." Nathan said
Suddenly they did their jingle.
"Over high, under low, tie your mane up in a bow." is how it went, then they shared another hug, Shining Armor peeped in the door and smiled at this.
Their love was soon cut off by the sound of crying, it was Skyla who was woken from her nap.
"Don't worry mom, ah'll get her back to sleep." Nathan said, he took Skyla out of her crib, lay her on his bed and started singing a lullaby.
Nathan, Cadance, and Shining Armor were on the train bound for Ponyville, Skyla was in her carrier sitting in between Cadance and Shining Armor while Nathan sat next to Cadance, he was wearing a white plaid snap up western shirt, cut jeans, brown cowboy boots, a belt with a buckle that had the state of Texas in the center, and a light brown Stetson cowboy hat, Cadance couldn't help but look how handsome he was in wearing it, she wrapped her hoof around him.
"Mommy's little cowboy!" Cadance said
"Mom, do ya' have ta' keep sayin' that?" Nathan asked
"I can't help it, dear, even Applejack would be surprised to see you dressed like this." she said
"I agree buddy, you do look good today." Shining Armor said agreeing with Cadance.
"Ponyville, next stop." said the conductor as Ponyville came into view from the window, Nathan got up along with Cadance and Shining Armor, as soon as he got out of the seat, Nathan took Skyla's stroller off the roof compartment and adjusted it, then he took Skyla out of her carrier, handed it to Cadance, and put Skyla in her stroller, and quickly they followed the group of exiting ponies, once they got off the train, they were founded by Twilight and Spike, the first one to greet them was Nathan.
"Hi Spike, hi Aunt Twilight." he said hugging them.
"Hi Nate, wow you look like a real cowboy today." Twilight said.
"I have to agree Nate," Spike said, "Applejack is going to like that style you're wearing."
"Ah' take everypony else is at Sweet Apple Acres?" Nathan asked
"Correct, we're having apple fritters." Spike said.
"Wow, that's nice." Cadance said.
"Hey are we goin' r' are we stayin'?" Nathan asked walking away with Skyla in her stroller.
"All right let's go, don't want to keep our cowboy waiting." Shining Armor said as they followed him into the streets of Ponyville, as they were walking Nathan tapped Shining Armor.
"Dad?"
"Yeah buddy."
"No offense, but just 'cause ah'm wearin' this don't make me a cowboy, I'm just wearin' it for the heck a' wearin it."
"Hey, we were just messing with you Nathan." Spike said
"Whatever." Nathan muttered
Pretty soon Sweet Apple Acres was in view and on the edge of the barn sat a group of five around a table and in the center was a plate of fritters along with glasses of apple juice ready for appetites, meanwhile Rainbow Dash took notice of Nathan, Twilight, Spike, Shining Armor, and Cadance approaching the farm with Skyla in her stroller.
"Girls they're here." Rainbow said pointing her hoof at the approaching posy.
"Hey Applejack." said Nathan approaching the table.
"Hi ya'll." Applejack said.
"Well look at you a little cowboy." Applejack said
"Eeyup." he answered.
"Hey Applejack, hey girls." Cadance said, sitting herself next to her Twilight sat next to Rarity and Nathan sat next to Applejack, Nathan took Skyla out of her stroller and placed her on his lap.
"Gals meet mah' cowgirl, Skyla."
The girls looked in awe at her, Skyla let out a giggle.
"She's so cute, I just wanna squeeze her to death." Pinkie Pie said.
"She is so adorable." Rarity said
"Eh' she's ok, for a baby." Rainbow Dash said
"What a cute little sugarcube." Applejack cooed.
"I want to hold her and never let go." Fluttershy said.
Suddenly Nathan took a bad stench in his nose.
"Mom, Skyla's got a stinky." Nathan said
"Don't worry sweetie, hand her to me." Cadance said, Nathan gave Skyla to her and she and Shining Armor went inside the barn to change her, meanwhile Nathan stayed outside with Applejack and the others.
"So Applejack where's Applebloom?" Nathan asked
"She, and her friends are at the clubhouse waitin' fer' ya'." Applejack answered
"Waitin' fer' me, why?" Nathan asked
"Maybe they're wanting to take you on your first real crusading adventure." Rainbow Dash said
"I've done that with 'em before Rainbow, ah've been here for over a year now." Nathan said
"No darling, you've only gone and done regular stuff with them, this is going to be your first real crusading adventure." Rarity said
"Ah'd never thought they'd do that fer' me."
"Well go on, sugarcube." Applejack said
"Well..." but right on cue, Shining Armor and Princess Cadance arrived back out with Skyla wearing a fresh new diaper.
"Mom, can ah' go hang out with the Cutie Mark Crusaders?" Nathan asked politely
"Of course dear, just be back at dusk." Cadance said
"Go on Nate, we'll handle everything from here." Shining Armor said.
"All right Dad, bye ya'll." Nathan said
"Enjoy yourself, sweetie." Cadance said
Everypony said the for now farewells to Nathan as he flapped his wings and flew over to the clubhouse.

As Nathan was flying above the orchard, the CMC clubhouse finally came into view, he descended to the edge of the entrance ramp, folded his wings, and walked up the ramp and up to the front door.
"Well let's hope they have a good expression to see me." He thought as he knocked on the door, the one to open it and greet him was Scootaloo.
"Hi Nate." Scootaloo said
"Hi Scoots s'up?" he asked
"Nothing much, although I must say, I like what your wearing."
"I'll say." Applebloom said joining in, "Come on in Nate."
As Nathan entered the clubhouse he came across a filly with the dark pinkish-red mane and a color of dark orange fur and she looked at him.
"What's yer' name?" Nathan asked
"I'm Babs I'm Applebloom's cuz," she said with a thick New York accent, "I take it your dat human dat crashed here in Equestria a year ago?"
"Well before we do are crusadin' adventure, which is fishing," Applebloom said showing Nathan some fishing poles and a bait container, "We want you to show us Skyla."
"Is she cute?" Sweetie Belle asked
"Oh, she's beyond cute, ya'll are going to want to tickle her and hug her, when ya'll see her." Nathan said, "And fer' once ah' knew you were going to ask me 'bout that, well come on, I'll how ya'll her, then it's off fer' fishin'."
Nathan and the CMC's exited the clubhouse and headed towards the farm where everypony else was, once they got there they had found that Celestia and Luna had joined them, Nathan and the girls soon cut them off.
"There's our future captain." Princess Celestia said
"Come here sweetie." Princess Luna said
"Hi ya'll." Nathan said walking up to them and embracing them.
"Look at you a little western boy." Celestia said
"Why are ya'll here, why aren't ya'll in Canterlot?" Nathan asked
"Well we wanted to come down and see our future princess." said Luna who was now holding Skyla.
"Well Ms. Celestia ah' thought about the conversation we had the night before, and you were right, Skyla is a blessin' fer' me."
"Celestia what was he doing in Canterlot the night before?" Twilight asked
"Well, he ran away." Celestia answered, Twilight, Spike, and Twilight's friends gasped at this, even the CMC's gasped.
"Nathan why did you do that, darling?!" Rarity asked, Nathan hung his head in shame, Luna gave Skyla back to Cadance and walked next to Nathan as did Celestia, then Celestia placed a hoof on his back.
"He ran away because he was jealous at first, but he came to Canterlot hoping to get some comfort from us, and we told him that having a sibling is a good blessing, because when you have two in a family some things can and will turn out right, double is better than single, and from our future princess of the Crystal Empire, plus our future Captain of the Royal Guards, we will see a lot of love and compassion between them."
"And Nathan we have good news." Luna interfered.
"What's that?" Nathan asked
"The portal between your world and here in Equestria has been fixed, you are now free to roam back to Texas and back here whenever you want, not only for you but for all of us as well."
"What?!" Nathan said in surprise
"Plus the nuns at your old orphanage told us in the portal last night, that they'd be more than happy for you to come and visit them, plus they will take care of your clothes shopping and everything else for you." Celestia said
Nathan was now more than happy, "Well bye ya'll the gals and ah' have got some fishin' to do, come on ya'll." he said and thus they went off to the river with their fishing rods and their bait container, for everypony that watched him leave it was yet another happy moment for them.
