I've been a bit distracted and busy the last few weekends, but have made progress on the next Chapter of the Moon story. It's sitting at 5,000 words, with a good deal left to go though. Hopefully I can really dig into it this weekend and have it ready for the week after. It's the action-iest chapter I've ever written, so I'm pouring through thesauri finding good adjectives for words like explode, blast, and destroy. Micheal Bay would be proud.

It's been a weird few weeks for me. A family emergency demanded a 4,500 mile road trip, which actually ended up becoming a fairly fun family vacation. Luckily I have a very forgiving boss, and plenty of comp time saved up. So, I saw a few parts of the country I've never seen before, including the Grand Canyon, Mt. Ranier, and the Columbia River Gorge.

Ye gods, what a month. You never really appreciate how wedded you are to your familiar settings and rhythms until something out of the blue completely disrupts them for a significant period of time. To put a long and sad story short, I had to give my writing space, bedroom, and lots of my free time to an unexpected house guest. So a month of sleeping on a couch, albeit a very comfy couch, and a late spring cleaning (our guest wasn't in the best of health), and I'm back in business.

The next 'Moon' chapter en route. I just finished rewrites and will give it another couple of self edits before I post it. Give me a day or two and it'll be all ready to go. I think you'll like it: There's a good bit of foreshadowing and character development that will set the stage for some fun stuff (not that there isn't a bit of action in this chapter). The first interlude should be around fairly quickly as well, maybe in a week or two.

Finally! I've got a prologue and the first chapter of a new story mostly completed. After staying on such a rigid schedule for my first story, I allowed myself to slowly work on this one at my leisure, which of course, has obviously failed, as it's taken 3 months to get to the point it's at.
