Pirates For a Day/Eternity. http://www.fimfiction.net/story/6295/eternity

Maybe it's a bit like the movie "Beaches" in its methods of tugging the heartstrings at the end... but then, "Beaches" was a critically-acclaimed hit at the time and remains the very best in its genre.

Just read "Equestria Girls" movie synopsis... · 12:30am May 7th, 2013

...and discovered it's even more cliche, derivative, and dull than I'd thought.

Seriously, that was the best they could come up with?

Good lord, they could have at least had the quest to recover the crown thingey take place IN EQUESTRIA! Maybe one of the other lands we know nothing about?

Why do people enjoy awful horror stories? · 6:37am Apr 22nd, 2013

EDIT: I'm leaving this blog up as evidence that I too have my breaking point and lose my composure from time to time (Yes, even I am not perfect! Woe to humanity! XD ), but Bronywriter and I have had a VERY long response session and worked our differences out.

Anyway, the question of the enjoyment of graphic gore and horror when weakly plotted still stands, so I'll leave this up for the sake of that argument.

Blocked yet again! "The Affections of Princess Nightmare Moon" · 5:59am Apr 14th, 2013

And you know I'm not going to let that stand! Let us now begin the brutal dissection of both these outrageous tales.

Basically, this is a sequel to a story which Nightmare Moon was always the Princess. And she comes back.

Two Roomies for Bronycon Needed · 12:14am Apr 5th, 2013

So, yeah. Like it says.

I figured I'd get started early. I hate waiting until the last minute for room arrangements.

I'll be rooming in the Baltimore Hilton Aug 1 (Thurs) to Aug 5 (Mon).

Starting a literary review group? · 1:53am Apr 4th, 2013

Well, I think it's long past time we had one here.

There are so many excellent fics that get little attention, while cliched melodramatic garbage of all sorts gain readers by the thousands.

How is one who wishes to find the BEST of the fiction to sort through all the over-rated tripe?

Simple: we need a group of competent literary enthusiasts to review as many stories as they can and point interested readers in the right directions.

And yet another author has blocked me! · 6:32pm Mar 25th, 2013

Goodness, some people can seriously not take criticism of their stories!

This time, the author of the "God Squad", defender2222.

I only pointed out legitimate things about the discontinuity and absurdity of the sudden mood shift his story took right at the end, turning a silly screwball comedy into some dark angst-fest.

"Oz" in severely under-rated! · 2:15am Mar 18th, 2013

Not gonna go into too much detail, since the '502' error keeps popping up, but suffice to say, "Oz" was a FAR better movie than the "Alice in Wonderland" movie.

It set the stage magnificently for "The Wizard of Oz", neatly explaining everything while still maintaining Oz as the Humbug Wizard. You also get many of the little nods to the main characters of "Wizard of Oz", one very subtle for the Tin Man. You must have read the books to catch it.

So I watched "2012" today... · 2:40am Mar 17th, 2013

That movie was the most over-the-top, absurd thing I have ever watched. And I was a big fan of MST3K. It was like Ed Wood was given a $200 million dollar budget and told to make a movie about the world ending.

I can't even begin to list all of the preposterous things that happened, because I'd be here for hours trying to write them all.

You know, sometimes I just have to shake my head when I realize people actually get paid millions to make horribly stupid movies.
