There are a few simple rules to follow when making an OC. Just felt like pointing them out.
1. DO NOT use bawdy and flaring colours that look unrealistic or unfitting. That is one of the trademarks of a bad OC. Make sure that the colours are complementary, soft and not eye-burningly bright.
2. BY GOD MAN, DO NOT MAKE AN ALICORN. THAT IS LITERALLY THE WORST THING YOU CAN DO IN THE HISTORY OF EVERYTHING EVER.
3. A great deal of individuality coupled with simplicity can be a wonderful combination.
4. DO NOT put accesorize too much, patricularly not with badly photoshopped headphones/jackets/cutie marks/flaming horns and so on.
5. Once again, keep it simple.
