This story is a sequel to Cupcake Therapy

Just how far is a pony willing to go moved just by the power of music? Dainty Tunes, who's just getting acquainted to his life in Ponyville, is about to find out. After a chance meeting in a pub, he comes across the mysteriously alluring music of a mostly forgotten band, which might awake him to his true calling in this magical world.

This story is many things. It's an ode to the transformative power of music. It's an homage to a band I've loved since my teens. It's the emancipation of a throwaway OC into a full blown character. It's a story of love, camaraderie and self-discovery. It's also a story about the magic of friendship, but I guess you might've seen that coming.

This story is a sequel to Pinkie and Her Bane

Dainty Tunes, a character created with the express purpose of being a literal joke, contemplates his own existence and his own purpose in Equestria. While immersed in the thought that he didn't make any difference on the world around him and nopony would care if he went away, he felt he maybe could use the help of a certain pony; one that, a while back, had considered him a dangerous threat.

Sometimes an author might decide to transport themselves into the world of Equestria as a self-insert. The result can sometimes be innocuous, sometimes really great, and sometimes it can be dangerous and unpredictable for everypony involved. But this one self-insert ran into a terrible misfortune that he couldn't have foreseen: he was discovered.

This story was written two years ago, originally as a joke for a group of friends (even though the story works outside that context), as I had no ambition of turning into a serious writer of My Little Pony fanfiction. However, things happened since then, and now this story serves, together with Cupcake Therapy, as a prologue for a big musical adventure, depicted in The Ponyville Rag.

Foreword: this story is not a commentary or critique of self-inserts and OCs in general, much less of any specific cases. This story was written solely as a joke at my own expense, and this is an important fact to remember in the future.
