Shifting covers for shifting sands · 3:19am Jun 5th, 2018

Many of you may be wondering what is taking so long for the next update. Sadly, life causes all kinds of interruptions. I was recently hired to work at a location some sixty miles from where I currently reside, and thus travel and work have taken a huge bite out of the time I have available to do fun things like write and game.

Starlight's Shifting Sands status update · 7:57am Apr 21st, 2018

I know this story is one that a good number of people have been enjoying so far, and I want to assuage any panic immediately due to the long break since the most recent chapter: this story will be continuing soon.

This is the fifth time my computer has failed to save this chapter... · 4:20am Jul 22nd, 2017

I'm getting quite sick of this happening. Sorry about the absolutely massive delay.

New delays · 3:26pm Jun 14th, 2017

I do once again apologize for the lack of timely updates. Part of this has to do with the recent heat wave weather sapping all of my energy in my free time.

Future plans... · 4:52pm Jun 3rd, 2017

So, in addition to my plans for each independent sapient race to have a zerg hive corruption event (ponies count as one race regardless of subtype) I have ambitious plans to introduce transformers elements as another factor of setting mythos, and I'm going to start BIG with 'Five Ancient Colossi:'

The Iron Bulette. (Rippersnapper)
The Bone Roc. (Cutthroat)
The Gold Orthos. (Sinnertwin)
The Amethyst (Diamond) Dog. (Blot)
The Silver Wyrm. (Hun-gurr)

A horrible case of 'teh feels.' · 9:03pm May 30th, 2017

Yeah, hate me for the joke in net-speak.

I'm already working on the next chapter, and I've had to stop three times because it hurts. It hurts because I'm pouring what I know of loss into the situation. My paternal grandparents, a cousin, two classmates.

It's not difficult to write sad scenes when you had a chance to get out all the pain at the time it happened. Writing years after the wound has left an ugly scar on your psyche is like getting a root canal done on insufficient anesthesia.

Delays · 3:21pm May 25th, 2017

I do want to apologize for the delay in getting the next few chapters of this story up.

I blame wanting to use the first crossover with an author to do more than just infodump on Liz and Sarah about what being displaced means, collaborating with an author whose character I have enjoyed reading about, and getting caught up in the writing to the tune of some 16k words before I do an editing sweep to correct minor things like present versus past tense.

What next? · 3:09pm Apr 5th, 2017

Well, someone commented months ago asking about more chapters, and today someone new marked this as a favorite.

I've been stumbling along trying to get all the creative juices glowing again, and I figure why not ask the people who liked this little side-tale?

One month warning! · 2:10pm Dec 2nd, 2015

In one month I will be removing the outdated chapters of this story in order to properly present the current continuity. Some chapters WILL be reappearing later on, but this is the only warning you have to download what's there now if you want to save it for yourself.

Poem of intent. · 4:12am Jan 26th, 2015

I know where I want the story to go
but I am afraid the words will not flow.
Bad dreams are an art as much as the gore
and I know my fans all clamor for more.
The show must go on, more tension will build.
It will not be long 'fore somepony's killed.

This poem brought to you by Laird's Applejack. Distilled and in business since 1780. Figured I'd share it with all my readers rather than just the guy I responded to. I am writing, but it is coming so slow.
