We each of us have a duty that we one day must perform. For some this is a calling, for others a moment that was there and gone. For a sole pony this duty is to keep a vigil and bring a lantern with him to remember what is forgotten and keep the light where there should be dark.

Heroes are noble, brave, and hold honor that gives others reason to look up to them.

Cloak and Dagger hold none of these qualities, but that's why they aren't heroes. Both ponies are part of the Blackguards, a group that works to make sure that the victory over the bad guys stays a victory in the long run. That is if they can stop arguing for five seconds to actually do their jobs.

This story takes place all over the timeline of MLP, with the first chapter being set after Luna is freed of being Nightmare Moon.
