I realized this when I was reading a story about a changeling and it was a he and I thought it was a typo, but then I realized that I had just mixed two stories up.

This was something on the level of when I didn't realize that BSU was, with a slight change of inflection, B. S. University, for three years.
(I still remember sitting in math class, playing games on my calculator because I hated precal, as that particular epiphany hit me. On an unrelated side note, that's also the day I decided that, were I ever to create a university, fictional or otherwise, I would name it Stanford T. Fredrickson University.)
