Oh, and I forgot to mention something that might help you out with your story. Now...this is the way I write, but it might work for you, too. I use mood-based cues from musical pieces to establish a central leitmotif for each chapter. What that means, in the words of one who isn't a superfluously "pedantic," pretentious shitfuck of a hipster, is that I take a melancholy/joyous/angry/what-have-you piece of music that I think well reflects the mood I'm trying to set and translate it into words. Well...at least I try to translate it. For example, you could take a piece of music that seems to exude the phrase "Fuck it." from it's very core, and then you could translate that inspiration into a chapter whose leitmotif is pure, resigned apathy. Ya' feel me, money? Now you try it! With this song:
