Not just the games even, what made Sonic in general so brilliant in his early days. I have no shame in telling you guys Sonic was the first video game I ever played. When my Genesis finally kicked it I balled my fucking eyes out. I mean yeah Sonic was quickly replaced by Lara Croft but that isn't the point.
