The adventures of Ditzy Doo and the Doctor

Ditzy doo is crooked. And when a strange creature follows her because of it, she befriends a most unusual pony. (In this story, the Doctor and Ditzy had never met)

Before he came

View Online

Before he came, Ditzy's life was a living hell. The worst night was the night of the crooked forest. That crooked forest is where our story begins. The story of a time traveller and a crooked mare. Ditzy was running. She was running for her life, and all she had were her hooves and a sprained wing. Her hooves pounded on the forest ground like a heartbeat. Perhaps if you were close enough, you could hear the soft crunch of leaves. However, Ditzy was breathing far too hard, and her ears were filled with the sound of her body working to escape death. She turned around, and the pounding in her head grew unbearable. Despite her pounding head, Ditzy could see the creature stalking her manifestly. It was pony like, I suppose. It had a dirty, pale yellow coat and a messy, dark green mane that Rarity would have simply screamed in horror at the sight of. It had an impossibly long neck and the neck had many stitches failing to contain the creature's body fluids. Blood and pus oozed out the creature's neck. The most disturbing part was the empty eye sockets crying blood, and a smile stitched in place. And it was coming for Ditzy. Ditzy kept running. She tripped a couple of times, but nethertheless she made it to a clearing. Her heavy run was reduced to an exhausted trot. Ditzy picked up the pace, for the creature was hot on her trail. Ditzy froze as she came to a steep cliff that marked a dead end. Ditzy looked at her sprained wing, which she could hardly lift, and then her gaze fell upon the drop of the cliff and she cringed. Her ears pricked up when she heard a rustling in the bushes and the unstable cresture stepped out. It was coming closer, and Ditzy backed away, and nearly fell off the edge of the cliff. She gulped. There was no way out of this situation. Ditzy knew she could either commit suicide, or be brutally murdered. She knew she could not escape her death.

Who knows her name?

Before Ditzy was running for her life, she was flying through the skies of Ponyville. She was carrying alot of mail, and she was flapping her wings madly to support her weight. The weight of the letters and packages were too much for poor Ditzy. Her wings gave in and she went down. Rainbow Dash was eating some very delicious grass and heard a faint noise. She looked up and her eyes widened in surprise as she saw the local mail mare crash in front of her. Letters and packages were scattered everywhere, and Dash was trying hard not to laugh.
"Woah, Derpy, you alright?" Dash managed to choke out without bursting into a laughing fit.
"I'm ok...it's just a sprain..." replied Ditzy, inwardly flinching at the name Dash had called her.
"I'll take care of this." Said Dash, motioning to the mess of undelivered letters. Ditzy nodded at Rainbow and gave a weak smile. She walked home, what with her wing being sprained. Whispers being carried on the wind seemed to casually lean into Ditzy's ears and say,
"Who knows your name?" Ditzy held her head and thought to herself. Nopony, she thought, nopony knows my name. Ditzy walked home and crawled into bed. She slept for a while and it felt like bliss. Deep into the night, Ditzy heard a banging sound from downstairs. Ditzy went downstairs and flicked on the light. Her eyes widened in horror. On her wall, scrawled in blood was a message that read; "I'm waiting for you, crooked mare." Ditzy dashed upstairs to her bedroom. She covered herself in her blankets and rocked back and forth.
"I'm not crooked, I'm not crooked." Ditzy mumbled to herself over and over, trying to console herself. Ditzy woke up the next morning drained and deprived of sleep. She went to Sugarcube Corner to try and wake herself up. She kept thinking about the night before. Ditzy was absolutely terrified. Not because of the blood or banging noise but because... because deep down, Ditzy knew she really was crooked.

Ditzy was lost in her own thoughts. What was happening to her? Was she finaly going insane? Ditzy blinked and saw a pink hoof waving rythmically in front of her face and a high voice saying something.
"Hello, Equestria to Derpy!" Pinkie giggled and Ditzy snapped back into reality. Ditzy just stared at the pink earth pony blankly. Pinkie's carefree expression morphed into a look of legitimate concern.
"Derpy, are you ok? You don't look like you slept at all!" Pinkie said. Ditzy raised her head to look at Pinkie.
"No, no I didn't, actually I..." Ditzy started mumbling and suddenly she gasped and her pupils shrank in horror. Pinkie cocked her head, unaware of what had frightened the pegasus so much. Ditzy trembled, right behind Pinkie Pie was a deformed creature held together by stitches. It was going to murder Pinkamena Diane Pie. There was a horrible suction sound of the creature's blood and pus spilling out, and Ditzy shuddered. How was Pinkie not hearing this? The creature inched closer to the counter and Ditzy's pupils shrank even further. The creature was not coming for Pinkie. It was coming for her. Ditzy threw the stool she was sitting on to the ground and bolted for the door. A very surprised Pinkie leaned back.
"H-hey! DERPY!" Pinkie shouted at the sprinting mare. Ditzy ran for the center of Ponyville and nearly knocked Lyra down. Ditzy turned frantically to see if she was still being followed. She was. Ditzy sprinted towards the Everfree Forest and nearly ran into Fluttershy. Ditzy ran into the forest, much to Fluttershy's horror.
"Derpy, no! That's the Everfree Forest!" Fluttershy yelled as loud as she could (which was not very loud). Ditzy kept looking behind her and ran right into a tree. Ditzy looked up and was horrified to see a message carved on the tree. "Crooked mare" was carved into the tree and a tiny drop of sap bled onto the forest floor. Dditzy kept running.
"I'm not crooked I'm not crooked..." Ditzy mumbled as she ran. She skidded to a halt at the edge of a cliff. The creature edged closer. Ditzy prayed it would fall to pieces right then and there but it didn't. Ditzy was so, so dead. Or at least she thought she was. Ditzy heard a strange sound from the sky, and looked up to see a flying police box.

A most unusual pony

Ditzy stared in awe at the police box soaring over her. She completly forgot her life was in danger. She heard someone with a heavy British accent call out to her.
"The doors are open, hurry in, it's getting closer!" shouted the strange pony with the box.
"I can't, my wing is sprained!" Ditzy shouted back. There was an awkward silence and Ditzy thought the British pony had given up on her.
"Alright, this may or may not work, but I need you to stay perfectly still, ok?" said the pony. Ditzy was so desperate, she nodded and froze like a statue. The tiny police box got much, much bigger and it sped towards Ditzy. As a pegasus, Ditzy had a very instinctual, agile body, and Ditzy was fighting every part of her being not to leap out of the way. The police box swept towards Ditzy. She grabbed the edge of the box, and the box flew higher at an alarming rate. Ditzy started to scream, and when a hoof was outstretched to her, she took it quickly and was pulled into a space that was much larger than she expected. Looking around, this ordinary blue box was really amazing. Now looking around, Ditzy's eyes fell on the British pony. She gasped at how simply GEORGEOUS he was. His coat and mane were neat and well groomed. His coat was a light chesnut color, and his mane was the color of rich, dark chocolate. His eyes were a deep blue and looking into them was like looking through a window to the universe.
"Who...who are you?" Ditzy managed to choke out. The pony smirked, and his eyes glimmered like an exploding star (Ive never seen an exploding star but they DO glimmer...right?).
"I'm the Doctor."

Guided by the TARDIS

Ditzy stared at the stallion who called himself the Doctor. She cocked her head.
"What kind of Doctor?" she asked him curiously. The Doctor sighed.
"Uh, no, no, just the Doctor." he replied to the deeply confused pegasus. Ditzy just looked puzzled and took in her surroundings.
"Wait, this was just a little box, wasn't it?" asked Ditzy. Just to be sure, Ditzy poked her head out of the door and looked at the outside of the police box. She then dove back inside and looked around. She kept doing so for around 3 minutes. The Doctor just watched her with an amused smile. Ditzy looked around once more and her eyes grew in amazement.
"It's bigger on the inside!" Ditzy cried out in wonder. The Doctor kept smiling at Ditzy. She turned around and inspected the Doctor curiously.
"Who are you, really?" Ditzy asked. The Doctor stared at her with his deep blue eyes until he finally spoke.
"I'm a time traveller, Ditzy." the Doctor replied. Ditzy's look of curiousity and wonder turned into a look of shock and horror.
"H-how do you know my name?!" Ditzy asked cautiously but frantically. The Doctor silently cursed his slip of the tounge, inhaled to regain a calm demeanor, and looked Ditzy in her gold eyes.
"You've been on my radar for quite a while now Ditzy Doo. Crooked mare." the Doctor said calmly. Ditzy gasped, and the Doctor awkwardly shifted. Ditzy stayed silent. She considered bolting, but where would she go? What about the creatures?
There was no sense turning back now. Besides, something about the British time traveller intrigued her. Ditzy tried changing the subject and warm up to the Doctor.
"So you can travel through time, for real?" asked Ditzy. The Doctor's face brightened and he outstretched his hoof rather dramaticaly.
"Time and the universe, thanks to the TARDIS! Isn't that right, sexy?" the Doctor said. Ditzy cocked an eyebrow as the box that was being treated as a living thing stayed silent. The Doctor mumbled something under his breath then turned to Ditzy looking more serious.
"How's your wing?" the Doctor asked Ditzy. Ditzy tried to lift her wing. She could lift it now, but when she tried to flap it she yelped.
"I still can't fly with it..." Ditzy said softly.
"Oh, nothing some ice, pillows and rest can't fix." the Doctor assured Ditzy.
"You can use the guest bedroom." the Doctor said.
"Do you get alot of visitors?" Ditzy asked. The Doctor snickered, and Ditzy just sighed.
"Well, how do I find it? This place is huge.
"Just close your eyes and think about where you want to go, the TARDIS will guide you." said the Doctor. Ditzy closed her eyes and felt her spine tingle.
"Oh! I think it's working!" cried Ditzy. She started running and smashed right into a wall. Ditzy looked at the Doctor.
"I don't think the TARDIS likes me very much..." said Ditzy. The Doctor laughed.
"Oh, she doesn't like anyone at first." Ditzy sighed again and wondered what the heck she's getting into.

Ditzy reluctantly let the TARDIS guide her again. It worked, and she entered the bedroom. She crawled into bed and let herself fall into a peaceful slumber. A peaceful slumber that would not remain peaceful for long. Ditzy had nightmares that night. She could hear horrible suction noises and dripping blood that could only be the horrid creature that had tried to kill her. She fell out of the bed drenched in sweat. She gasped for air until she realized it was just a dream. She was sweating and her mane was wet. She closed her eyes and tryed to form a psychic connection with the TARDIS. She found herself in a bathroom. She walked in and figured she could use the shower if she wanted. She turned the faucet and hot water rushed out. Ditzy stood in the shower and felt relaxed. The hot water rushed down her coat and mane, warming Ditzy and cleansing her body of sweat and fear. She inhaled steam and exhaled. Ditzy stepped out, turned the water off, and shook out her coat and mane. Ditzy checked her reflection and was happy with what she saw. Her coat was a shining foggy gray color, her blonde mane was decent looking, and not too messy. It was just... her stupid eyes. Nopony would ever love her. Ditzy looked in the mirror one last time and was shocked to find the bloody creature behind her. She froze and trembled. Although the creature had no eyes it seemed to be looking right through Ditzy's soul. It seemed to be smiling at her heartache. Ditzy screamed and ran to the Doctor. She found him in the control room and let herself break down.
"Doctor! It's in the TARDIS, Doctor do something!" Ditzy screamed at the Doctor. The Doctor grabbed Ditzy and Ditzy went limp.
"It can't be in the TARDIS, it's just playing a trick on your mind. That's how it gets you to crack, and you musn't crack Ditzy, you musn't crack, or it WILL murder you." said the Doctor. Ditzy looked at the Doctor like she was about to cry, and the Doctor sighed.
"Alright, show me where it happened." said the Doctor. Ditzy nodded and led the Doctor to the bathroom. When they got there the Doctor looked around, and Ditzy was quite nervous. Something caught the Doctor's eye and he turned to face the mirror. There was a crack in it that had not been there before.
"Ditzy. Turn on the hot water." the Doctor ordered. Ditzy turned the hot water on all the way, and steam soon enveloped the room. In a few minutes, the mirror was fogged and had a sloppily scrawled message that read; "Itex". The Doctor quickly pulled out a device that looked quite strange to Ditzy, and when the Doctor pressed a button, a green light came out and it made a strange sound. The Doctor flicked it, studied it and his pupils visibly shrank, indicating something was wrong.
"Doctor? What's wrong?" Ditzy stuttered. The Doctor looked at Ditzy, and replied,
"It was no trick. Something besides us is alive in the TARDIS."

The time tunnel

The Doctor and Ditzy turned around slowly. The creature was smiling eerily at them, as if it would be more than happy to feed off their corpses. The Doctor and Ditzy backed into the control room and the creature followed them. Ditzy was trembling and the Doctor was trying to come up with a plan. The Doctor inhaled slowly and spoke to Ditzy, not taking his eyes off the creature.
"Ditzy, I want you to open the doors." said the Doctor. Ditzy froze.
"What? Are you crazy?!" Ditzy shrieked. The Doctor gave her a look and Ditzy sighed shakily.
"Alright. How do I do it?" Ditzy asked as bravely as she could. The Doctor nodded.
"Pull that lever." said the Doctor, motioning to a red lever with his hoof. Ditzy nodded and went to touch the lever. A shower of sparks exploded over Ditzy's head, and she yelped in surprise. It was almost like the TARDIS resented Ditzy for trying to use her controls. And as stupid as it sounded, Ditzy was a little hurt. She stopped thinking and yanked down the lever. The doors flew open and Ditzy was appalled to see they were floating in space. Miraculously, the air was not rushing out of the TARDIS.
"Good. Now I need you to jump outside." said the Doctor. Ditzy broke out in sweat.
"N-no way. I'm not doing that." Ditzy said softly.
"Sorry, I'm afraid you have to." replied The Doctor. Ditzy flinched. Did she trust the Doctor? No. Did she want to live? Yes. The creature edged closer and Ditzy was on the verge of tears. Ditzy closed her eyes and jumped out of the TARDIS. She found herself floating in space and still being able to breathe. She found that flapping her wings was alot easier. She grabbed on to the top of the box and called to the Doctor. She could hear him mumbling something and fiddling around with the ccontrols with that strange little device of his. Soon he joined Ditzy, looking more chipper than ever.
"Ah! Hello! Hope you have a good grip!" said the Doctor. Ditzy looked worried.
"A good grip? Where are we going?" asked Ditzy.
"The time tunnel." said the Doctor. The TARDIS picked up speed at an alarming rate and Ditzy screamed.

Chasing Twilight

The TARDIS flipped and tumbled through the time tunnel and Ditzy was screaming. Her hooves were sweaty, but she didn't dare loosen her grip.
"Make it stooop!!" screamed Ditzy. Ditzy squeezed her eyes shut as the universe spun around her. Soon, everything stopped and Ditzy opened an eye slightly.
"It's over, Ditzy." said the Doctor. Ditzy let go of the police box, and barely managed to catch herself with her wings. She found that flapping her wings took more effort, but she could still sustain a light flutter, indicating her sprain was healing. The Doctor fell to the ground and trotted to the open doors. He stuck his head inside, sighed in relief, and closed the doors. Ditzy frowned.
"What about the creature?" asked Ditzy, trembling slightly. The Doctor turned to face her and tried to explain how his risky plan had worked.
"It was exposed to the time tunnel, and shouldn't be much more than dust now," Ditzy opened her mouth but the Doctor continued talking, "we're safe because I manipulated the forcefield to only work on the outside." Ditzy stared at the proud stallion.
"You're insane!" Ditzy exclaimed. The Doctor surpressed a satisfied smirk, and simply paced around.
"Say, Ditzy, do you know where we are?" asked the Doctor. Ditzy looked around. Her surroundings looked very familiar.
"I think this is modern day Ponyville!" said Ditzy.
"Ok, ok, great. Our next step is to find out what Itex is. Any ideas?" asked the Doctor. This being her own time, Ditzy did have a few ideas.
"Twilight Sparkle is a smart alicorn. She might know what it is" said Ditzy. The Doctor nodded.
"Where can we find this alicorn?" asked the Doctor.
"She lives in this big tree that's also a house, that's also a library. It's kinda hard to miss." Ditzy replied, smiling. The Doctor chuckled and nudged Ditzy playfully. The Doctor held Ditzy's hoof, and the two of them trotted off to find Twilight's treehouse, Ditzy blushing madly the whole way there.

Twilight Sparkle was reading a book quietly in her library. Spike was running errands and Owlicious had flew off somewhere, probably Fluttershy's cottage, so Twilight was alone. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door and the young alicorn's wings popped out in surprise. She wasn't expecting visitors today. Twilight tucked her wings back in and she answered the door. She saw a blonde mare who she recognized as Derpy and a stallion with lovely blue eyes who she had never seen before.
"Hello. We're looking for an alicorn by the name of Ms. Sparkle." said the stallion peering curiously at Twilight's graceful wings. Twilight blushed.
"That would be me. Please, call me Twilight." said Twilight, slightly embarassed by the formality, but grateful these two ponies weren't bowing down and begging to call her "Princess Twilight". Twilight fixed her eyes on the stallion, and when she turned around and saw Ditzy, she leaned back in surprise, as if only just now remembering she was there.
"Derpy! What are you doing here? Who's this?" asked Twilight. The stallion walked up to Twilight and got very close to her. (VERY sexy, mmmhmmm :d)
"I'm the Doctor, love." said the Doctor. Twilight looked at the stallion, transfixed in his eyes.
"Don't call me that..." said Twilight, blushing. (And yes, if this were an anime, there would be a griant sweat drop going down the side of Twi's head) The Doctor kept circling the alicorn like a shark, making Twilight a bit anxious.
"I assume you're Twilight Sparkle, the princess who will lead Equestria into an industrial revolution in, oh, give or take 500 years?" asked the Doctor. Twilight was starting to get creeped out, but she remembered through her own experiences that time travel was indeed possible, and merely smiled.
"If it's in 500 years, how would I know?" asked Twilight. The Doctor chuckled.
"That's a very good point." said the Doctor. Twilight laughed.
"Spoilers, Doctor." said Twilight. Ditzy thought she saw a look of grief on the Doctor's face, but he quickly regained a casual composure. Ditzy groaned as Twilight seemed to try to flirt with the Doctor, as they discussed...um...*sigh* wibbly wobbly...timey wimey...stuff.
"Hey, horribly sorry for breaking up the conversation, but Twilight, we need to ask you something." said Ditzy, not sorry at all.
"Do you know what Itex is?" asked Ditzy. Itex? Twilight pondered it for a bit.
"I think...Itex was demolished a hundred years ago from today. It was in what is now a rock farm, far to the west. When it imploded a hundred years ago, it uncovered plenty of precious minerals." said Twilight.
"A hundred years, a hundred years...ok, let's go, Ditzy!" said the Doctor. The Doctor and Ditzy ran off. Twilight sighed and wondered what in good Equestria those ponies were going to do.

Experiment 101285

Ditzy ran into the TARDIS. She looked at the Doctor hopefully.
"Are we really traveling back in time?" Ditzy said with a high, childish tone of voice. The Doctor smiled, clearly pleased with being able to please this mare so easily.
"Patience, Ditzy. I'm setting the coordinates to a day before the date Ms. Sparkle gave us so we're not in the building when it implodes." said the Doctor. The Doctor pushed buttons and flicked switches while Ditzy hopped around happily.
"Oh, I'm so excited! Iv'e never time traveled before." said Ditzy, continuing to hop around the TARDIS. The Doctor smiled and pulled down a lever and the TARDIS shook hard and Ditzy was nearly knocked over. Ditzy flipped her blonde mane and trotted toward the doors. She looked at the Doctor for approval and when the Doctor nodded Ditzy jumped out the doors. Ditzy walked out the door and saw a large building. The sign on the building said "Itex". Ditzy stared at the sudden change in surroundings.
"This is impossible..." muttered Ditzy. The Doctor trotted ahead.
"Well, come on, then." said the Doctor. The Doctor and Ditzy entered Itex. The bubbling and boiling chemicals in the building fascinated Ditzy.
"Doctor, what are those?" asked Ditzy.
"Chemicals. Probably acidic. Don't touch them." said the Doctor. They entered another room full of files. The Doctor carried on but Ditzy stayed behind, curious. She opened a cabinent and pulled out a random file. She read the file and her pupils shrank into small black dots with no glimmer. In the file was a picture of a young pegasus filly with beautiful perfect eyes. In quotations, below read; "We try to refer to experiment 101285 as an "it" as much as we can, but it insists to call itself "Ditzy Doo."

A small mistake

View Online

Ditzy ran to the Doctor in tears. She had dropped the files and she didn't care. She didn't want to read anymore of that horrible thing. Was that really all Ditzy was? An experiment? A thing artificially created by other ponies? A thing with no soul? A thing others don't even consider alive? Ditzy was so lost in thought she almost ran right into the Doctor. The Doctor turned and when he saw tears in Ditzy's eyes his face fell.
"Ditzy? What's wrong?" asked the Doctor with a worried tone of voice. Ditzy opened her mouth to tell the Doctor what she had saw, but she had a terrible thought. A horrifying thought.
'If he knows I'm just an experiment, he'll abandon me! He'll leave ne here and I'll never ever get to go on adventures with him.' thought Ditzy. Ditzy hung her head, avoiding eye contact with the concerned stallion.
"I saw an experiment." said Ditzy, technically not lying. The Doctor slowly nodded in empathy.
"Yes. The alicorn...Nightlight Whatsle or whatever her name was... told me about Itex after you galloped off into the TARDIS. The scientists who worked here had good intentions, but they were way ahead of their time, and most experiments looked grotesque, and botched. After failing inspections time and time again, the two princesses made the building implode using a detonater from Canterlot. Which is why we need to learn what we can while the building's evacuated." Ditzy nodded, and tried to act like her usual bubbly self. They looked around, and the Doctor held up a book triumphantly.
"Look, Ditzy. It's a journal one of the scientists kept." said the Doctor. The Doctor opened the book and started reading. He flipped through a few pages, continued, and his face went pale.
"Ditzy? What's todays date?" asked the Doctor, trying to be calm but clearly failing, for he was trembling.
"The 18th, why?" asked Ditzy, uneasy. The Doctor gulped.
"Ah...Nightlight What'sherfacele was off by one day. This building is going to implode in approximatly 60 seconds" said the Doctor.

Hidden Malice

The Doctor and Ditzy sprinted down the hallways of Itex. Ditzy was galloping as fast as she could. She felt something beneath her hooves and she looked down. It was the file she had dropped. Now she had two options. Keep running like hell and leave her only chance of remembering her life as a filly to burn, or take it with her and learn something horrifying. She mysteriously has no memory of her childhood and Ditzy was horrified she may not want to remember.
"Ditzy hurry up!" shouted the Doctor. Ditzy exhaled softly, picked up the file and bolted. Ditzy smiled to herself. She had never ran so fast in her life, and she loved it. She was a freaking horse on an adrenaline high. Buck yeah. They had exited the building and they kept sprinting until they were 10 feet away from the building. There was a rattling jolt through the ground, and Ditzy and the Doctor were flung forward. Ditzy fell to the ground with a thump. Her vision was blurred and there was an obnoxious ringing in her ears. The Doctor was lying face down on the ground. And he wasn't moving.
"Doctor?" said Ditzy. The Doctor coughed and sat upright. Ditzy sighed in relief.
"Oh, Doctor, you're ok!" said Ditzy happily. The Doctor cricked his neck and turned to Ditzy.
"Sorry, Ditzy. Time travel can be...unpredictable." said the Doctor. Ditzy giggled and flew upward without a problem. Ditzy was so happy she was here with the Doctor and they were safe she forgot to keep her cool and contain her feelings.
"And I LOVE it!" exclaimed Ditzy. She flew down and kissed the Doctor lightly on the muzzle. The Doctor just stood there, a little shocked. He coughed awkwardly and trotted into the TARDIS.
"Come on Ditzy, we should get out of here before we inhale the smoke and die." said the Doctor calmly. Ditzy turned to look at the smoke pluming from the demolished building. She hid the file the Doctor failed to notice lying in the grass behind her back and flew into the TARDIS.
"Are we gonna try again?" asked Ditzy.
"Nah, it's late. You should rest." replied the Doctor. Ditzy nodded and went to her room. She slid the file under her pillow and went to sleep. She had nightmares that night. In her dream, she saw an earthpony trotting towards a building. The earthpony had an aqua coat and a medium cut green mane. Her eyes were a light pink and her cutie mark was a bell. She was trotting to Itex. She knocked on the door and a unicorn stallion with a white coat and flaming orange mane answered. Liberty shuddered. Why did the look of this pony chill her to the bone?

"Hi! I'm Bonnabelle Liberty, but you can call me Liberty! Um, I'm here to apply for the job!" said Liberty. She couldn't see the unicorn's eyes, for they were hidden behind his glasses, but he was smiling, so he seemed nice enough. But Bonnabelle, oh my dear, sweet lovely Bonnabelle...even a young mare as naive as her would have been able to see the malice in his eyes.
"I am Doctor Ocarina. Kindly refer to me as Doctor." said Ocarina.
"Sure!" said Liberty.
"Excellent." said Ocarina. Liberty smiled sweetly and Ocarina started walking.
"Come. I'll show you your room." said Ocarina, and Liberty gasped.
"R-really?? No interview or anything?" asked Liberty. Ocarina shook his head and kept walking.
"YES!!" squealed Liberty and she bounced after Ocarina. She entered

Bonnabelle Liberty slept comfortably in her bed. Her instinct told her somepony was watching her, hunting her, but she ignored it. That was her problem. She never listened to the whispers deep inside her making her impossibly naive. She slept soundly through Luna's night. Liberty sat up when she heard hoofsteps. Liberty put her head back down. Then she felt a strong hoof force a wet towel on her face. Liberty's nostrils were filled with a sweet scent. Her eyes rolled to the back of her head and she passed out. When Liberty regained conciousness, she was clamped to a table used to preform surgeries. She could not move her extremeties or her head. A bright light shone into Liberty's eyes. Her eyes started to tear up, and she soon found it was impossible to blink. Tiny hooks forced Liberty's eyelids open. Liberty started to panic, and she thrashed around wildly trying to escape. She heard somepony chuckle softly in the distance.
"Who's there??" yelled Liberty, trying to sound brave. Doctor Ocarina walked into the light.
"D-Doctor?!" said Liberty, dumbfounded. Ocarina remained silent.
"Liberty, what do we do at Itex?" asked Ocarina. Liberty looked surprised.
"W-we create longer and easier lives for ponies?" said Liberty. Ocarina nodded.
"And what does that take?" prompted Doctor Ocarina. Liberty gulped.
"S-sacrifice?" said Liberty, terrified. Ocarina smiled and nodded again.
"We will be testing a medicine on you, Liberty." said Ocarina.
"A-and what's it supposed to do?" asked Liberty.
"It should improve a pony's eyesight by 400%." said Ocarina. He stepped out of the light and returned with a syringe.
"D-Doctor? Wh-what are you doing? Stop! G-get away fom me! NO! STOP! PLEASE, NO! I- ah, EEEEAAAAAAGGGGHH!!!" Liberty screamed as Ocarina plunged the needle into her wide open eyes. Her body convulsed as Ocarina pushed the needle in harder, trying to get the fluid into her bloodstream. The nerve passage that led into the blood teared, and fluid just kept rising in her eyeball. Her eye bulged and exploded, spraying biological and chemical fluid all over. Liberty choked as blood trickled out of her mouth. Ocarina frowned, and tried again with the other eye. Liberty screamed as the first result was repeated. Tears of blood poured down Liberty's empty eye sockets. Liberty had finaly saw Doctor Ocarina's cutie mark before she had lost vision in both eyes. It was a bloody blue chainsaw.

Blooming hatred

Ditzy jolted awake. She kept shivering and sweat poured down her face. Ditzy knew it was a nightmare, but...the terror in that poor mare's eyes. Her haunting scream in sheer agony, it was all much too real. The way Liberty put so much trust in that unicorn...the way she loyally called him "Doctor", it shook Ditzy to her very core. Doctor... Ditzy shook her head. No. She musn't think things like that. Her Doctor was different. Her Doctor was kind and compassionate. Her Doctor would protect her until the end of time, because he was HER Doctor. His heart (or "hearts" just so ya can't nitpick) was hers. Or at least that's how Ditzy felt. The file was sticking out from Ditzy's pillow. She cautiously took it and brought it to her face to inspect it, as if it were a bomb she needed to difuse. Ditzy gulped and opened the file to read. Most of it was scientific stuff Ditzy didn't understand. There was one passage that made her curious. It read; "Ponies will be able to live longer and happier lives if their senses are enhanced. We recently tried to improve the vision of a young specimen. It failed. The subject now appears to be lazy eyed but not blind. We cannot use this medicine for it is unsafe for consumers. What a shame. It had such pretty eyes..." Ditzy shook and broke out in sweat. They had experimented on her eyes. She gritted her teeth and for a split second, in the first time in her life she felt hatred.
"Ditzy!" the Doctor called from upstairs. Ditzy shoved the file underneath her pillow and her ears pricked.
"Um, can you lend me a hoof?" said the Doctor, sounding a bit embarrased. Ditzy sat up straight. She smelled smoke.

Ditzy rushed downstairs and followed the scent of smoke into what appeared to be a kitchen. She saw a small fire on the stove and the Doctor desperatly flailing about to extinguish it. Ditzy sighed. This stallion could do many wonderous things but cooking was not one of them.
"Does this happen often?" asked Ditzy, trying to hide her exasperation. The Doctor did nothing but continue waving his hoof about to clear the smoke. Ditzy grabbed a fire extinguisher and showed the young flame no mercy.
"How about I make something?" asked Ditzy. The Doctor blushed a bit.
"That would be great" said the Doctor. He smiled and Ditzy just shook her head and allowed herself a small smile in reply. Her smile was cute. And crooked. The Doctor watched as Ditzy cooked with great speed and concentration. Her eyes narrowed and she licked her lips when they began to dry. The Doctor cocked his head. What could she possibly be making that required such craftsmenship? The Doctor just sat down and kept watching Ditzy work, fascinated. Ditzy soon served her masterpiece. She presented two perfectly cooked blueberry muffins.
"Thanks Ditzy. These look great." said the Doctor. Ditzy blushed at the compliment.
"No problem." said Ditzy. They ate in silence. Ditzy exhaled softly, and coughed just loud enough to get the Doctor's attention.
"So, are we going back to Itex?" asked Ditzy. She shuddered. That place absolutly terrified her. The Doctor could sense Ditzy's discomfort and nodded solemnly.
"Yes. It's our only shot of learning what those creatures are." said the Doctor. Ditzy gulped.
"Well in that case you'd better fire up the TARDIS." said Ditzy with all the kickass attitude she could muster. The Doctor smiled. He loved kickass attitudes.
"I was hoping you would say that." said the Doctor. He pushed a half eaten muffin aside and sprang to the controls.
"We're leaving now?!" shouted Ditzy.
"YES!" said the Doctor, yelling over the groans of the TARDIS. Ditzy shoved the rest of the muffin into her mouth and swallowed, miraculously not choking. Ditzy held on tight as the TARDIS flew to a place of nightmares. A place Ditzy wanted so desperatly to forget. A place called Itex.

A crooked soul

The TARDIS groaned as the engine pumped to send it through time. Ditzy's mane was whisked to the side and she smiled. The TARDIS never failed to amaze her. When the TARDIS came to a stop, Ditzy was not eager to step out of the safety of the TARDIS. Ditzy felt the Doctor next to her, his warmth consoling her. Ditzy took a shaky breath and trotted outside to the building that haunted her. The smell of chemicals was overpowering, and Ditzy could only imagine the abominations created here. One of those abominations being her. The Doctor picked up the journal he had been reading before and flipped through the pages. He came across a picture of the creature that had stalked Ditzy and given her nightmares.
"This is it. We finally find out what those things are, and how to get them to leave us alone." said the Doctor. Ditzy nodded firmly. It was time to end this. The description on the page read; "Lately we have been experimenting with souls. We tried to create a remedy to help ponies tame their emotions. To help stop a hurting in their heart that average scientific concoctions fail to sooth. We failed. We instead created a creature of nightmares. It is a virus that infects wounds that go deeper than just flesh and bone. It is a creature that infects wounds of the soul, emotional wounds. We refer to somepony with wounds in the soul as 'crooked'. It will literally feast off of a pony's heartbreak. It will kill you inside. So, my little ponies, stay strong. And as for those who are crooked, like me, I am deeply sorry, I truly am. I am so sorry...my sweet Bonna-" The rest was illegible, for blood was caked over the rest of the page. Ditzy was on the verge of tears and the Doctor cringed.
"That... doesn't sound good." said the Doctor. Ditzy was doing her best to avoid crying.
"I'm...crooked? But why? Is it my eyes?" asked Ditzy. Against her will, she shed a tear. A small, crooked tear.
"No, no. I believe it may have something to do with your confidence. You literaly have no self esteem." said the Doctor softly. Ditzy thought about this.
"What about you, Doctor?" asked Ditzy. The Doctor winced. The last thing he wanted was to delve into his past.
"When you're as old as me... you can't help but have a crooked heart." said the Doctor. That was all he said. Ditzy cocked her head. As old as him? But he is so young...Ditzy's ear pricked up when she heard a suction noise she knew all too well. The Doctor and Ditzy spun their heads around and saw the creature. And not just one, but three. Three creatures that were through with playing games and wanted blood. The blood of a crooked pony.

The start of something great

Ditzy backed away slowly and bumped into the Doctor. She was too terrified to blush.
"Doctor, are we screwed?" asked Ditzy. The Doctor shook his head.
"No. I can think of something that might save our flanks, but it's a long shot." said the Doctor.
"I don't care!" shouted Ditzy, pushing the Doctor farther away as the creatures advanced.
"Um...well, these creatures prey on a broken soul...so I suppose you would need to find away to ease that pain." said the Doctor. Ditzy nodded vigorously and prompted him to continue. The Doctor smiled.
"No chemical will cure a broken heart, no, to heal your soul in the slightest...you need to put your past behind you, yes! So Ditzy, my dear Ditzy, if you want to live you need to abandon the ghosts haunting you." said the Doctor. He had a gleam in his eye like that of a young colt who had put the last piece in a jigsaw puzzle and could see a clear picture.
"I don't think I can, can't you?" asked Ditzy, flustered. The Doctor shook his head.
"That would do nothing for you. Besides, I can never accept myself. I can never face who I am. And I can never, EVER forget the crimes I've comitted, the lives I've taken." the Doctor's voice trailed off and Ditzy was crying. She shed a tear and tore herself away from the Doctor. She faced the creatures as they wobbled closer to her, spurting blood on the white tile floor. Ditzy growled and stretched her wings.
"My name is Ditzy Doo. I'm crooked. Nopony knows my name, and I keep my mouth shut when ponies call me "Derpy". Seriously, what does that even mean?! I never knew my mother and I'm starting to doubt I even have a mother. As a filly, I grew up trying not to get shipped to an orphanage and believing my mother left me because I failed as a daughter. Because I'm not a beautiful mare. I was a blank flank until I was 15, and I'm STILL not sure what my special talent is! My soul is wounded and nothing will EVER heal it. I am a crooked mare, and I'm not afraid of you. I'm absolutly terrified." said Ditzy. The creatures stopped. The Doctor's jaw dropped. Ditzy became light headed and she closed her eyes. When she opened them she couldn't see anything but the Doctor grinning like a maniac.
"Ditzy, you wonderful thing! You did it! They're not going anywhere near you!" said the Doctor. Ditzy became aware of a lightness in her chest and a fluttery feeling in her stomach. Ditzy laughed and embraced the Doctor. She then looked at the Doctor with concern.
"But...what about you? asked Ditzy.
"It can't hurt me. Too many ghosts of my past already haunt me." said the Doctor. They sat there in silence. The Doctor got up and trotted away. Ditzy followed. They entered the TARDIS and travelled back to modern day Ponyville. The Doctor walked a few feet with Ditzy. He then headed back to the TARDIS and Ditzy froze. He wasn't waiting for her.
"Wait! Where will you go?" Ditzy called after the Doctor. The Doctor just shrugged and pawed at the ground.
"I don't know. Explore time and the universe, I guess." said the Doctor. Ditzy put a hoof on the Doctor's shoulder.
"And I won't let you do it alone." said Ditzy. The Doctor smiled. They both ran to the TARDIS smiling. This was going to be the start of something great.
