Lies and secrecy abound as Twilight attempts to expose the changeling who has stolen her life. Or, maybe she's the changeling attempting to steal the real Twilight's life. Or maybe ... Only one thing is certain: this won't end well.
I'll enjoy this whole heartedly, unless it sucks, in which case I'll send an angry letter to your shared receptionist who is secretly cheating on you to escape her Stepford life.
Wow... The description for this story reads like an advertisement for "Unknown"... There better be a ponyfied version of Liam Neeson somewhere in this story...
2415596 The thing is, the Prisoner's Dilemma breaks down when the participants are copies of each other.; Each Twilight will independently use the same reasoning as the other, and arrive at the same conclusion; this removes cooperate/defect and defect/cooperate from the payout matrix, leaving only C/C and D/D. And in that situation, cooperating is obviously the superior choice.
Have them compare magic ability. The Twilight who went to the Chrystal Empire knows dark magic- Chrysalis would have needed to switch out the real Twilight before they went in order to know that, since only Spike saw her do it. For that matter: Only the Twilight then knows what Spike saw in his Door of Gloom vision. And if all else fails: Twilight showed in "A Canterlot Wedding" that she can blast a changeling out of its disguise. Assuming that this isn't a particularly powerful changeling, of course.
Say, why are her friends even uncertain? Doesn't that imply that they believe (or are ready to believe) that princess Celestia let the wrong Twilight ascend to alicornhood?

There are several methods they could try.
