I generally loathe any sort of mind control, but you've really made it seem realistic. The way they've talked about it prohibits the usual things like making her do things she doesn't want to, or being sub-human... er, sub-pony, I guess. Anything is fine as long as it comes with mutual respect and real emotions. It's even worse when the one with the control goes all batshit. I realize that, in the heat of the moment, Twi will probably do some iffy stuff, but you've laid out that it would never be out of malice or malevolence. That line about not being called a slave pretty much takes care of everything I usually hate about these stories.
I'm... very interested in where you can take this. Even with my general dislike of Inter-mane six shipping, I... I really want to see where this goes.
To my understanding post-hypnotic suggestion only works if you let it. I don't think Twilight could make her do anything in public that she didn't want to. Other than that, great stuff, looking forward to more.
3535888 I know that and Twilight knows that, but Rainbow Dash doesn't know that at this point. The full rules of hypnotism over mind control magic will be discussed in the next chapter and made apparent after their first session.
They're not anthros, that's not what I said. The ponies we see on the show are already anthropomorphic, evidenced by their standing on hind hooves and their shoulder blades going into positions real horse anatomy cannot reach. Octavia, the way we've seen her, is not an anthro, but she is an anthropomorphised pony. As part of this anthropomorphisation, I added one more detail of human anatomy to the equation because that's what human readers are more familiar with, among other reasons.
The ponies in this story are notanthros, not anymore than they are in other fanfiction. Anthros are creatures where the process of anthropomorphisation is taken to a logical conclusion, not oscillated between midway as is true for the canon ponies. Anthros walk on their hind legs as a default and have their scapulas (I think that's the word?) set permanently in the direction a human's would be, not to mention frequently being depicted as having hands instead of front hooves and their proportions being altered to match a human's.
There is a reason I use so many words. It's so things are clear when people read them. I already had to make a judgment call about cutting one this story's tags (it's one you're not seeing right now, so no spoilers there).
*cracks whip* Now be quiet, sit down and wait for the rest of the story.
[By the way, can you tell which side of the D/s community I used to be on ?]
Great chapter. I think Rainbow Dash is adorable in this story and the hoof trauma is pulled off nicely. The open discussion about what they're going to be doing is a nice touch as well, making everything mostly consensual. Also, Rainbow Dash's desire to be submissive seems to hit the nail on the head. The stresses of leadership are a good trigger for that kind of fantasy.
3536951 Nope . Got too much on my mind, don't want to get dragged into the hype or get distracted. I am perfectly Zen with no new pone, I do not need to know anything. In this story, Twilight can fly, but it's mostly a matter of convenience so she can reach Rainbow's house. Whether she can fly in canon is not something I need to know, nor do I want to.
I'm can't watch Season 4, for reasons that have nothing to do with the show itself (well, mostly). It's in one of my previous blogs. I just can't afford to watch it right now. No biggie, it'll be there when I get the time or desire for it.
3537000 Oh, I don't mind people posting fics of it. I can avoid those, I don't read much fan fiction anyway. Here's the blog that details my problem (it's the final point that's the major one, the ones before just let me justify it to myself better):
It's a serious problem I'm having, and I'm trying to fix it by taking charge of things one at a time. Slowing down my writing was one, delaying my viewing of Season 4 was another. Avoiding replying to comments is a third, but I suppose people ought to know why the story is what it is.
Her head felt heavy, and her limbs were sluggish. On top of that, she had an odd ache in her chest and an emptiness in the pit of her stomach. Every breath came with a thought, a tiny little whisper that everything she was doing was pointless. She couldn't tell why, though. What’s wrong with me? Am I getting sick? Why do I feel so old and worn?
That, particularly the whisper saying everything was pointless, sends a "mind control" vibe, even though I logically/consciously know that's not what you intended.
“You know how everything always needs to be perfect for me,” Twilight continued. “It doesn’t stop with just cleaning the library or following schedules: it’s the same thing for my friends, and it feels horrible. I wasn’t lonely back in Canterlot, I got all the invitations to parties and everything, but I just couldn’t stand all those little things, little habits or flaws that just looked silly to me. Everything and everyone always has to be just the way I want it, and it drives me crazy sometimes. I keep wanting to step in and fix everything, including my friends. And I know that’s wrong. I know I shouldn’t want to fix the ponies I care for, but deep down I do. I don’t think hiding it forever is going to help fix that.”
3535888 (Ok, I know this is a very late reply, but still ...)
Post hypnotic suggestions can take effect without the question of "letting" it even coming up. If it's well-planted, it will happen before your thinking mind has even considered what you're doing, and research shows that people will rationalize away the actions far more often than not.
People who look at what they did after it was done, say "that's not right", think about it, and come to the conclusion that allows that conditioning to be broken are RARE. They exist, and it's more likely if the suggestion was not well-planted in the recipient, or if it's really something that does not fit you.
Complete mis-fit suggestions can/usually will bring someone out of trance rather than being accepted.
And there are the in-betweens, where the suggestion "takes", but the person realizes what they are doing as they do it, or right after doing it the first time, and it doesn't happen again.
===
Let me say that I like that this is a properly negotiated, consensual trance play. I admit that from chapter one, I was thinking that Twilight was being covert and irresponsibly gaslighting Rainbow -- just the idea that she put her under, got her to agree to something while in trance, and then when she woke up, Twilight pretended that she had fallen asleep and just dreamed it all.
Super late reply. When rainbow dash was dreaming, the Twilight in her dream used to the word "induction" when describing the hypnosis process. Unless rainbow dash is already familiar with hypnosis, the Twilight in her dream wouldn't be saying things she didn't already know.
Secondly, yes, smells are a very strong memory trigger. But twilight's salve wouldn't trigger the memory of Dash's trauma unless it's a scent she was smelling at the time of the trauma.
Other than that, a few mentions of arms instead of forelegs, and a few "anyone's" instead of "anypony's", I am sufficiently turned on and entertained.
Rainbow nodded. “Good. Second: no magic. You don’t use a spell to get into my head or put anything in there. You said hypnosis was just talking, and I’m going to hold you to that.”
Hmm...

awesome chappy, i look forward to the next I have no complaints about how this is turning out so yup

3535893 Ah I see, so she was just reassuring Dash. That's good.
3510866 That's a lot of words for saying, "They're anthros". We have a tag for that. :D Might lessen the confusion.

So many words for... you effing...

don't you want to know the status of twi's flying capacity though?....

3536982 k...
i have the feeling though now that it's so long after start of the new season stuff about it is going to be posted anyways....
and i can't see a blog where you say you can't watch the new season.....

3537031 i didn't mean new stories , i was talking about the comments on them and this.....
huh , was looking for those words in the blog list , don't know how i missed them....
3537037
I'm asking nicely not to post spoilers on the comment section. That's all I can do, really.
3537041 yeah , but there's a chance those requests can be missed and then people would end up posting something about that anyways.....
I hope Dash lets her use magic at some point in the future. Magic is so much fun <3

Bah. You have destroyed the masterpieces that were my comments. The world is a darker place for having lost whatever it was I said.
Still holding my interest. You seem to be rather knowledgeable on the subject of hypnosis..
so much LOVE!
1.) Sockies on Dash :D
2.) This story is 100% approved by Counselor Troi's library.
I don't understand this:
Her head felt heavy, and her limbs were sluggish. On top of that, she had an odd ache in her chest and an emptiness in the pit of her stomach. Every breath came with a thought, a tiny little whisper that everything she was doing was pointless.

Ms. Sparkle Psychopath anyone?
6218469 Ahh! But if you know you have issues compared to the baseline, are you still a psychopath?
