I.D. INJECTOR DOE
THE INJECTORVERSE
═════════════════════
The story of Gregoria Samson and her friend Rachel Priss has come to a conclusion. The ending is hopeful - it is certain that Rachel is healing, and possibly inevitable that she will one day regain full sapience. A happy, thriving secure colony of Equestrians has been established in Argentina, and they are creating, from scratch, Equestrian magical technology and culture.
But questions abound! When immortal Rachel recovers, will she be Rachel... or Celestia? Will she transform the entire simulated universe into Equestria, or not? Are there other godlike entities with such power waiting to enforce their own reality on the world in competition to Rachel? Are there Lovecraftian secrets hidden in that unaltered patch in Antarctica from a time before the Victorian rewrite? Who or what is doing the simulating, and what is the purpose of the simulation of the world? Can the simulators be contacted? Should they?
The governments of the top nations are out to control everything and to eliminate or contain the victims of Doe Injection. Will they come after the pony micro-nation? Are there still animal people, or fairies, or elves from before the Victorian transformation that want their world back? What about the Grays and the Sasquatches and the other lost victims of bugs in the cosmic program? What if some human with a nightmare fantasy became an Injector? Are there good groups out to help the changed?
If the world was converted into Equestria, what of the humans in the pockets that would resist the rewrite of reality? How much transformation can be allowed before the simulation is shut down? Could whatever happens when a John Doe injects code be used to escape the simulation entirely? What would out there, in the Big Machine?
These questions can be answered!
Just not by me.
This story is a manual. It provides the details and rules and structure of an entire new universe within which stories could be written. There are a lot of questions, so that means there is a lot of drama and potential available to anyone who might want to play within the Injectorverse.
Transformers meet ponies? Star Trek overlapping Dr. Who? Westerns intermixing with comic books? Anything is possible, any faction or group or crossover could happen. All it takes is one poor, doomed John or Jane Doe being written into the code of the universe.
We have a hopeful ending, but we also have a very large beginning.
If you want, of course.
My story is done. I hope you enjoyed it, or if it was too troubling to be enjoyed, I at least hope it blew your mind. 'Tis an ill wind that blows no minds.
I open the Injectorverse to anyone who wants to play in it, and if nobody does, that is fine too.
I thank you all kindly, and with love, for reading my story.

People often mention Fo:E as a story that spawned a universe. But then you look at the stories and find almost every single one of them are the same. TCB did the same, though with far less problems or the side-fics.
This? This is genius. You can place anything here, at any time. Before, during or after. It might be one of the most cleverly constructed 'verses I know. Not only that but it's such an intriguing concept to work around. Simply amazing.
Dear god. You have opened a new portal for stories where anything, and I mean anything can happen. This story is brilliant and so is this idea. You are an amazing person to come up with this.
Well, I for one hope you'll play around within this setting some more at some point. I suppose you would not want to limit the options of those who might want to join in, but surely there's room for a short story or two...
The child in me wants an ending with closure, and the rest of me is still learning to deal with the fact some stories don't really end, in the same way that we Californians don't really stop at stop signs...
Was a heck of a ride, no matter what else happens.
Uhm. Is there a correct way to thank someone for writing a story? Because I can't work out a way to do that without sounding a little dumb.
Well... Now that you've finished all your fics... Are you gonna keep writing?
Damn, girl. You sure have left us a lot of territory to cover. I still say Crown's explanation doesn't quite add up (not that it covers much territory, anyway), and now you've basically said "you explain it then, smarty pants!" Now if I can just figure out how to make a story out of the bits and pieces running about in my head....
The best part is, each "conflicting" story doesn't have to be in a separate sub-universe. Weird stuff happens, body models can be duplicated, evidence is routinely suppressed. We could suddenly have 37 different Celestias running around, and it wouldn't surprise me. Even if it gets too blatant for things in Story A to happen in the world of Story B, the Programmers probably set the simulation to fork every once in a while or something, and might even copy or move entities from one version to another on occasion. If Greggy (or someone else) decided to publish a piece of her own pony "fiction", we can even go meta.
One thing, though. You are going to come out to play with everyone, yes?

I haven't finished my stories yet, or my original goal.
My original goal was to pass one million words. I am only 87% of the way there, I believe. Something like that.
I also have several stories that need to be written. Off the top of my head...
Little Blue Cat - the artificial cat from Code: Majeste has a story. A very astonishing one.
Rose Cottage - The last months of Roselyn Pastern's life, living with Caprice in their old age. And BEYOND.
The Forbidden Well - The final, true secret of the pony sisters and Equestria. A newfoal reporter visits the Everfree Ruins, and discovers...
Human In Equestria - In order to allow ponification, the 300 families that were the human Worldgovernment had a special deal, only for them. The daughter of the CEO of all mankind... doesn't like it.
A good story. As always, a part of me is relieved Earth didn't get 'destroyed'... and a part is disappointed it didn't. People don't deserve to just get overwritten like that, their lives and identities taken from them... but on the other hand, a world without war, disease, famine, hatred, or pollution, where everyone is relatively happy and free to do as they please in life... Well, let's just say that kind of world WOULD be worth giving up a lot for.

The generally accepted method is an acapella rendition of Journey's Don't Stop Believing. If you don't like Journey, you may substitute Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal.
Started reading this because i thought you were going to describe a universe or something.
Got about halfway into the first paragraph and was like NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NO SPOILERS FOR ME!
I wish anyone that wants to try to make another story good luck though

Thank you Chatoyance, again, for a wonderful journey, and all of the emotions it brought.
I love the Injectorverse you have created, and I sincerely hope it obtains the renown and popularity it deserves.
Might I suggest setting up a group?
To second Zontargs, do you think you'll be writing more in the Injectorverse?
I hope that even after you break a million words, you continue to write - you are absolutely one of my favorite authors, and I would be very sad to see you go.
Thanks again for the story.

That's deep. And hilarious. I'm going to have to remember that.
Loved the ending. Heck, I loved the whole story. As for the Injectorverse itself, the "simulated reality" concept makes me think of Friendship is Optimal. Could some high-level alicorn be running an experiment out of nostalgia? Going the other way around, what happens when the simulation runs a simulation? Oh, this has such promise. I'm just not sure if I'll ever get around to exploring it.
dammit, you had to go and give me ideas, from Shamballa to Ry'leh... from Luna to Lovegood and back again.
As if I didn't already have enough to write. darn you to heck!

Just when you think you're out, they pull you back in... for cuddles!
I loved the story and it gives me ideas losts of them i mean a grup of mercs get ponyfied and also heres a question caus hasbro ouns both transfomers and mlp and have done cannon cross overs back in g1 of trasformes (with gijoes cobracomander in seson 3 of g1) there by stating that all of linked generations of showstake place in same univers. Would that mean that the injection that causes ponys also cause gijoe or transformers injections too? given that hasbrow in the ppast has onofficaly made them a singal univers. in short in the hasbor vers earth cyberton and enquis all coxesit so my thery in this question is would the pony inject also cause side injectons of cybertroians and maybe gijoe type ppl and gear? Ouch that made my head hurt and i thunk it. (note no spell check on 360s)
how it is possible that you hold such power. To spawn worlds and put them into minds of others so they can grow and exist on their own, remember my previous commend I sent about story living for itself and us only observing them? this is how things live in my head, my imaginanion is able to sustain few full worlds in my head (with all sensation, feel of every nerve or muscle, where "others" live and think for their own, powered by my subconscious. world with full physics and rules of life), of course not all at one point, but there is not a moment in my life, when I am not in two places at the same time, real one, and "internal". thank you for making a new one, that is going to give me lots of fun, sadness and other emotions for some time from now.
Again thank you for this story, and whole new world.
2770284 You're caught up on the motivations behind the simulators, eh? Here's something I've injected into the comments before: I've heard physicists pondering whether the simulation that we're in (as is quite likely) is artificial or natural in its genesis. I know the thought of a natural simulation might make you queasy, but theoretically it could be so. What if there aren't any simulators to blame, question or praise? Granted, if there are any, and knowing that the shape of the world as these characters know it has dramatically changed a few times, what were the initial conditions like? Obviously minds are important to the simulation: there's rules that the transformed bump into and run afoul of sometimes. Hmm...
Anyway, this fic has stumped me as far as commentary -- in a good way! It's quite different from other pony fan-fics, that much is for sure. Locally speaking, it's the most unique Pony On Earth I've seen. I think I'm starting to like POE more than HiE if there's going to be humans involved at all, but that's beside the point. Give me a couple of days and I'll have something interesting to say about this one, I'm sure. Just... give me a while here.
Holy...Cinnamon...Swirl. I don't know if you realize the true gravity of the universe that you have just given birth to, but if this works out, you have the potential in this story to permanently alter the nature of human self-perception. This could completely change the way we see ourselves, each other, and the whole bran-muffin omniverse. My head a splode. Chunky Salsa everywhere.
WEll, I hope they go from Entre Rios to Buenos Aires, and say hello to me!
As soon as you mentioned Lovecraft, I thought of a thousand ways to make this universe burn.
Thanks Chatoyance for creating this story and this universe. It's been quite a ride. This is definitely the best and most engaging story about humans becoming ponies that I've ever read, and I'm a bit sad that you won't be writing any sequels yourself. This was a very though-provoking piece as well. I'll try to keep an eye out for future stuff from you.
Good luck!

And that comment makes me want to write a story called Soft Reset where the simulation is semi-actively trying to restore itself to a previous state when lovecraftian entities from a new iteration threaten to dismantle the simulation. Also, it must have been pretty disorienting to wake up as Yog-Sothoth.
And then there's the other idea where you have different factions within a fandom each turning out to be "right." One injector believed Celestial was a goddess on an unattainable pedestal, while another injector believed apotheosis was possible for everypony, and yet another says "No goddesses, no princesses, only ponies." Maybe similar injections would merge and overlap so that the perceptual blindness didn't affect them, but how far would this un-blindness go? Would members of one ponyverse see denizens of other ponyverses as members of their own? Or would they be able to tell themselves apart easily. You could also have them be like different sects of the same religion, and conversion could be possible if the reality streams aren't too disparate.
If only I had time to write about all these things... Tastes Like Heresy ain't gonna write itself though.
So... I just had a thought.
If there are people aware of the world's 'condition' in this universe, then inevitably there must be an organization, or organizations, that look for people with strong beliefs, and subject them to extreme trauma in an effort to coax an injection. 'World Hackers' maybe. I can definitely imagine there are humans out there who would jump at the opportunity to hack the universe, whether out of malice for a world they can't stand, out of a desire to see their own kind of paradise, or even out of a pure desire to push the boundaries of the universe, in an attempt to see how the simulation works.
I'd write about it myself... but past experience has shown that I'm not good at seeing a story through to conclusion.
I'm not a very verbose guy, but I did enjoy the story's concepts, if not the exact way in which it progressed towards the end, and ended. Is this on TV Tropes?
Lastly, "What would out there, in the Big Machine?" That sentence is a bit unclear.
It is rather a pity that the universe never developed from here.

Phew, that was it. What a trippy trip we had.
I would definitely want to write something, if I am potent enough, that is.
Maybe, just maybe, one day I can write an SCP inspired by this.

I am glad you liked it! And if you write any story inspired at all by it, do let me know - I would love to read it!

It might get a restart at the Chinese brony community, as it's read by 7000+ bronies after AB had it translated. I believe many of our writers wanted to show our stories that happened in china.
