The next few hours passed like a blur for Blossom.
She was only vaguely aware of the events around her, but she could pick up bits and pieces every now and again. She felt somepony take what was left of Diamond Tiara out of her forelegs and she felt herself being lifted onto Princess Celestia's back. The sun goddess carried her up the stairs, away from the basement and gently laid her down on the floor. Somepony put a blanket over her shoulders which she supposed she appreciated. It was a little better being a little warmer.
She saw Princess Celestia standing in front of her. She was looking down at her and her mouth was moving so she must be talking to her. Blossom didn't respond. It was if her mouth was glued shut. Had Diamond Tiara done that? No, if she had then she couldn't have talked to her when she had...
Blossom pushed those thoughts out of her mind and just stared dumbly at Celestia. Aunt Applejack, Aunt Apple Bloom, and Princess Luna were all in front of her too. Aunt Apple Bloom was crying into Aunt Applejack's shoulder while the older mare simply looked dumbly at Blossom's head, paying particular attention to her mangled ear. Princess Luna just silently observed Blossom, hardly moving at all.
Eventually the door to Carousel Boutique opened and Blossom slowly turned her head to see a team of medical ponies walking in, two of them levitating a stretcher in front of them. She was gently placed on the stretcher and carried into the back of a covered medical wagon. "Just hold on, Blossom, you're going to be just fine," said one of the medics. She sounded like she was miles away. Her voice sounded like quiet echoes and Blossom was hardly sure she had heard her at all.
Through everything that had happened she gained enough presence of mind to whimper out one solitary word.
"Momma."
* * * *
Applejack and Apple Bloom sat in the waiting room at the hospital, holding each other silently. Apple Bloom had stopped crying halfway to the hospital and Applejack merely stared into space, a haunted expression etched across her face.
"Ah can't believe it," she whispered after a while. "Ah can't believe this had to happen again to that wonderful filly."
Apple Bloom wiped her eyes and sat up. "Ah've never seen so much blood in mah life," she whimpered. "It was everywhere and Ah didn't know what was Blossom's and which was Tiara's!"
"Now don't you be thinkin' 'bout that," said Applejack. "It won't bring ya nothing if ya do."
Apple Bloom wiped her eyes. "Ah was so scared for her when Ah heard that DT escaped," she whispered. "Ah thought that the worst had h-happened and it almost did!"
"But Blossom's alive and she's gonna be fine," said Applejack. "What happened was beyond unfortunate and it'll take a lotta time for her to heal but she's a strong mare. She'll pull through."
"It ain't that Ah'm worried about!" said Apple Bloom. "Ah'm worried that maybe Blossom's gonna get punished fer this!"
Applejack shook her head. "No. There is no way that's happenin'. You saw what was down there, even if Ah wished that hadn't happened, and Diamond Tiara was gonna kill her. Blossom defended herself, simple as that."
Apple Bloom nodded and the two sisters sat in silence for a few more minutes before the double doors leading to the E.R. opened in front of them and the Royal Sisters walked out. The Apples immediately got to their hooves. "How is she?" asked Applejack.
"Blossom will be fine," said Princess Celestia "Both now and going forward. Based on the evidence what she did to Diamond Tiara was not murder. Blossom had knockout drugs in her system and wounds that Diamond Tiara inflicted upon her. Diamond Tiara took her down to that basement to kill her and Blossom killed Diamond Tiara to prevent that. I will not punish her for that."
Apple Bloom and Applejack both breathed sighs of relief. "Can we see her now?" asked Applejack.
"I suppose if you want to, though she is resting now," said Princess Celestia. "She's in room 13B."
Without waiting for another word from Celestia the two ran towards Blossom's room. It was thankfully only a short ways away from the E.R. entrance and the two of them walked through the door into Blossom's room. What they saw made them both gasp. Blossom was lying on a bed in the middle of the room. There was an oxygen mask over her face and an IV in her right foreleg. Her right ear was wrapped up in bandages, the tip stained red. Her right leg was also wrapped up in blood soaked bandages.
A doctor was standing next to Blossom's bed, taking notes on a clipboard. He looked up when he saw the two mares walk in. "I know she looks bad, but she's going to be fine."
"What happened to her?" Applejack asked.
The doctor sighed and looked down at his clipboard. "The upper sixth of her left ear was severed and she sustained a large knife wound just above her left cutie mark that required twenty-six stitches. There is of course the obvious damage to her mane and tail as well. Blood tests we did found knockout drugs in her system and she began hyperventilating when we took her in to get the stitches. We gave her a mild sedative and she's resting peacefully now. She'll have to take a few painkillers in the next couple of days to dull the considerable pain she's going to be in, but for now she's asleep." The doctor managed a weak smile. "If you look into her eyes you can see she's in REM sleep right now. She's dreaming."
"Ah hope she's havin' good dreams, doc," whispered Apple Bloom.
* * * *
When Blossom awoke it was nighttime. She was in a room in the hospital, lying a a plain white bed. Her eyes scanned the room, searching for somepony who might be around so she could ask what was going on. Nopony was on her left side, so she turned her head to the right and that's when she saw it. A silhouette of a pony sitting on a chair beside her, watching her sleep.
Frowning, Blossom turned on the light beside the bed and who she saw made her yelp in surprise.
White body, dark purple mane, three blue gems for a cutie mark... Blossom's eyes. It was her. "Aunt Rarity?" Blossom whispered.
Rarity merely stared silently at Blossom for a second before she slowly nodded and stood up, beckoning Blossom onwards. Blossom hopped out of bed just as Rarity exited the room and raced out after her aunt. When she was out of her room, she saw Rarity turn the corner down the hallway leading to the exit of the hospital. Blossom quickly ran after her, hoping to catch up to her so she could ask what was going on. But no matter how fast she ran she couldn't catch up to her aunt. She always seemed to be ten steps ahead of her.
Eventually Blossom made it out of the hospital and into the streets of Ponyville. The entire town was covered in a thick blanket of fog and Blossom could only barely make out a purple blur in the distance that she ran after. Like in the hospital, no matter how fast she ran Rarity was always ahead of her, despite the fact that Rarity seemed to be trotting along at a leisurely pace.
"Aunt Rarity slow down!" Blossom pleaded. "I can't keep up with you!"
Despite her pleas Rarity did not slow down for her niece and instead remained ahead of her. Blossom was about to call out again but she saw a large, dark shape looming in the distance. A few seconds of running forwards revealed the shape's identity: Carousel Boutique. What's more, the front door was open.
Blossom walked through the door and into the house. The door slammed behind her, covering the house in pitch black darkness so that Blossom could not even see her own hoof in front of her face. Growling in frustration, she illuminated her horn just in time to see a curly purple tail dart behind a doorway.
The doorway that led to the basement.
Despite every internal warning bell she possessed sounding off, Blossom slowly walked towards the basement door and when she reached it, she trotted down the stairs.
She reached the bottom, and Tartarus was revealed to her.
It was decorated just like it had been in its glory days. Manes, tails, and hides decorated the walls which were caked in blood. A large workbench was placed against the opposite wall and it was popped open revealing a large compartment filled with knives of every kind. However, it was what was in the middle of the room that horrified Blossom the most.
Her aunt Rarity was adjusting knives on a large tray that was similar to the one that Diamond Tiara had used when Blossom was strapped to the table. Next to the tray was a large metal table, fitted with leather straps. Straps that were securing...
"Lilly?"
Blossom's step-mother was strapped to the table, sobbing her eyes out. Where her horn normally was, now there was only an open wound oozing blood. Her severed horn lay on the ground at her hooves.
Seeing Blossom come in, Rarity smiled at her and levitated one of the knives into the air. Blossom took an uneasy step backwards, unwilling to watch her aunt murder her step-mother. But Rarity did not attack Lilly. Instead she rotated the knife so that the handle was pointing towards Blossom. Rarity smiled at her niece and motioned towards the knife, then at Lilly.
Blossom looked blankly at the scene before her for a moment before she slowly walked up to the knife. She examined it in the air. It was the same kind that she had used to kill Diamond Tiara. It seemed just as sharp as the one that she had used too so she knew that she was capable of using it to cut Lilly to ribbons.
She shakily began reaching a hoof towards it, ignoring Lilly's sobs beside her. She didn't know how her aunt had gotten Lilly, but here she was. Here was a knife. They were alone in the basement with nopony there to stop her if she wanted to do this.
As she continued reaching for the knife, she saw Rarity standing next to her, an increasingly large smile on her face. She turned to Rarity and Rarity nodded and motioned towards the knife.
"No," Blossom whispered.
With a snarl of rage Blossom batted the knife down and kicked over the tray of knives. "I'M NOT YOU!" she screamed.
Rarity's grin faded and she took an uneasy step back. With another snarl, Blossom leaped forward and tacked Rarity to the ground. She got on top of her and began repeatedly slamming her hooves into Rarity's face. "Why does everypony think that I'm just like you?! You're evil; you're pure evil and you ruined my life!" Each blow brought forth only silence from Rarity, but Blossom continued on. "They kept saying it, that day in the woods, they kept saying that I was gonna be like you, and for one second I believed them and now look at me! Now look at your sister! Now look at everything you've done! Was it worth it? Was it worth it to satisfy your sick, twisted urges?!"
Blossom grabbed Rarity's head between her hooves and slammed it on the ground as hard as she could. "I. AM. NOT. YOU!!!!"
Rarity slowly brought a foreleg to her face and wiped off the blood that had begun oozing from the various lacerations that Blossom had caused during her assault. She put her foreleg down and to Blossom's surprise, she began chuckling. "Of course you're not me, darling." Rarity turned her head towards the table and tapped one of the legs. "But why in Equestria does that mean you are incapable of doing this?"
* * * *
With a scream Blossom bolted up in bed. It took a few seconds of looking around to see that she wasn't in Carousel Boutique's basement, but still in a hospital bed.
Her scream had awoken Applejack and Apple Bloom and they were by her side in an instant. Applejack wrapped Blossom in a hug. "Shh. It's alright, sugarcube, yer safe now."
Blossom wrapped her forelegs around Applejack's shoulders and began sobbing. "I don't want to hurt anypony," she whimpered. "I'm not like Aunt Rarity; I'm not!"
Oh. God.
That is one seriously messed up family.
(Understatement of the year.)
Time for therapy.
2354426 More like I had a lot of free time today.
Well hell I'm surprised to see another chapter up so soon. S'pose you gotta distract from that wonderfully beautiful chapter before hmm? This is turning out to be quite possibly the best out of the three stories so far. I can't wait to see where this all goes.
2354580 Wonderfully beautiful, huh?
Still reading this series still loving it keep up the good work.
2354587 Indeed it was. Not many can flow words of such a disturbing nature into a big ball of tasty like you can and did. So it deserved two adjectives. Wonderful and beautiful.
2354823 Well thank you then.
o.o
Not sure what to think anymore.
2355045 What do you mean?
2355047 Allow me to elaborate, "I no longer have any idea what my thoughts are when concerned with this particular story, I still think that it's a good story, I just really don't know how I feel about it anymore."
In other words, "What the fuck is my mind doing?"
2355051 Er... so you still like it, you're just not sure about where it's going?
2355053 ......Sure, let's go with that.
2 chapters in such a short time. Lets see...
1. Return of the Dark tag. Called it.
2. The warning. Laughed. Nothin' disgusting out there, at least for me. On the other side, The Secret Life Of Rarity wasn't disgusting for me, either... Well, nvm. Too much grimdark.
3. "Downfall" was a really great chapter. Poor Blossom.
4. "Hello, aunt Rarity"- Now I'm sorry for Rarity. Why? Because she never wanted SB to be like her, and she wouldn't want this for Blossom. Yeah, I think I'm just defending her. Why? Because I still can' t make myself think she was evil. For me she was just her own 2nd victim.
5. Oh and yes, this chapter was good, too. Just too short.
I can't wait for what happens next. Again, poor Blossom,
I realise this whole post is kinda pointless, but whatever.
I wrote this on my phone, so I'm sorry for the mistakes, if there are any.

Rarity was evil and deserved no pity.
If she wanted nothing to happen to them, she would have stopped after her first victims.
Afterwords she cut peoples eyelids off and taunted them as they begged her to let them go.
There is no pity to be had!
Oh boy... quite a bit of drama in this one. Anyway, let's make up for lack of reviews with this one, shall we?
Ever since last time I commented, figured Luna being cruel and preventing Thought Process from working further with Joyous Blossom would make things take a crazy turn, and seems I was right... though not sure why showed Luna's motivation, as it seemed KIND of unnecessary even if quelled my and others' concerns about how you portrayed Luna's behavior and actions. Wished we had gotten to see a bit more of Joyous Blossom growing up and how things affected her and what happens with Sweetie Belle and Diamond Tiara, etc, but suppose these recent chapters (and looking at comments) have answered that. Still wish would see Sweetie get her freedom, but doubt will do so, if won't be taking a different turn from how you planned again or keeping that to yourself (for end of this story/series). Anyway, also figured Blossom's actions wouldn't be able to be hidden just by changing one article in ONE magazine of a probably mass-produced one...
Loved Blossom's interaction with her dad, even if her stepmom was less than friendly at first and later on. Sucks that she chased Blossom off and set off this whole thing with DT being there for her, to think it would've been prevented if she had only fought against her urge after what she heard, but suppose that's not what was to be, if was your intent and not letting characters guide the story. And then last chapter... hoo boy. Figured DT would lose it sooner, after having Blossom impersonate her equal bitch of a daughter, but surprised me. Though was shocked to see she had a heart, even if portrayed as more of a nut after her time in psychiatric hospital/ward and bitch from Public Life of Sweetie Belle and earlier chapters. And saw her death coming... Doubted would do anything more friendly, like some people were saying. And at least DT gets what she painfully deserved for a long time and what Sweetie Belle wanted to do to her after she discovered what Rarity did to ponies at a certain point in The Secret Life of Rarity. Even if it was a horrific way to go, being emotionally and physically tormented like Rarity did to her victims for most part and was just trying to do what she thought was right, I guess.
And then THIS chapter... wow, dunno if Joyous Blossom is gonna get her ear back if that's possible, compared to say her mane and tail (I assume, if things aren't that different from in the show aside from the obvious differences to plotline from canon, with mane/tail being able to grow back I think). And surprised to see a prophetic(?) dream/nightmare or whatever involving Rarity! Hopefully if Lilly makes a re-appearance in this story, it doesn't get THAT far, if insults the poor thing more than she already has. Hopefully, if she doesn't and they (Rolling Thunder and Comet, if they come to visit) learn of what Blossom did to DT after her immediate leaving, they don't turn their backs on her and such...
Well, curious to see how this one ends now if reaching the home stretch, but don't think we are, since past the number of chapters Public Life of Sweetie Belle had, but not the first one in this story as of yet. And if Blossom's guilt over what she unnecessarily did to DT (even if may explain that it was cause she was tortured and made to suffer/wait while DT attempted to kill her) and her foal and Silver Spoon's will make her confess, even if it probably won't get off easy... anyway, I'm holding out hope that know what you're doing, but skeptical of this series having a "happy" ending with way things've been lately and overall. Looking forward to the next chapter, after getting 3 in last 24 hours. dl.dropbox.com/u/31471793/FiMFiction/Twilight_Sparkle_lolface.png
Also at the end:
Not sure if just me, but think it'd sound more right if it was "should that mean" rather than as you put it in the last piece of dialogue by Rarity. But think it is fine, even if sounds more right that way as I suggested or may just be how I'd write it (I guess).
2303261
And sorry for my comment in this chapter, but it just seemed like Luna was being insensitive for how Blossom was feeling and such. Even if end of the last story depicted that they are emotional for what happened with Rarity's death, as they made mistakes like this story pointed out, but kinda forgot with Luna's actions there. But again, will hold out hope I guess, even if leery as things are now what with having read a bit of sad stuff lately (including this) even if BARELY reading stories like I used to a while back.
Well played.
We avoid the death penalty for Blossom, but it's reopened old wounds and gotten her so scared, she's dreaming of Rarity. Was nice to see the kill room again. Now she has the guilt of her mother taking the fall for her, and knowing that she didn't have to kill Diamond. Will be interesting to see if she can prove she isn't like Rarity, or if she winds up killing again.
I hope this story will have a happy ending
...
Not sure if already saw my massive comment, but even if you didn't, posting this as a separate one due to length of that and not sure if would wanna address any such thing I ranted on about from last several chapters... my apologies. Cause was thinking and had some questions not sure if addressed or plan to, if could answer those maybe (if haven't already possibly at some point, if not leaving it up to our imagination).
First off, in this story, what happened to Rarity's money/gems that Sweetie Belle inherited? As in the first two, it was established in your world, that Rarity was set for life well before she was put down like an animal. Not sure if it still belongs to Sweetie Belle, even though she can't get much use out of it if still locked up in a psychiatric ward and should've gotten it if the Princesses weren't so obsessed or whatever with what's happened in the family twice (at that time, but three now).
Second, what's happened to Spike? Haven't really seen hide nor hair of him I think, since before Rarity was put down... hopefully, didn't kill himself or run away because the truth about Rarity before she was put down broke his heart. Since don't think even mentioned him in chapter when Blossom turned 18, but I didn't fully read that one, I believe. Along with handful of others in this specific story or the first one, for whatever reason (but I still know enough to know what happened).
And finally, can't help but maybe been wondering what's happened any other time the Elements might've been needed or whatever (if not assuming they don't work and/or weren't needed), since Rarity's death and Twilight's disowning by her teacher; along with what became of their lives, outside of their careers, passions, or whatever (outside of Rainbow Dash, Scootaloo, Apple Bloom (even though we've never seen her with a mentioned husband or anything, I think), etc). I know this story is more about Rarity's killing and the fallout her family suffers as a result of it, but still, kind of makes you wonder in a sense. I haven't thought about the other things since haven't been reading as much in a while and thus, not been thinking about it when not reading, wondering about things most other people wouldn't give a flying feather about as I tend/tended to do.
Anyway, hope the next chapter is up soon!
PS: Forgot to add this before, but for a while here in this chapter, assumed that Blossom's dream or whatever might've been her actually sleepwalking or whatever (sleepkilling?), when they were at the boutique and Rarity showed up, even IF she's been dead for a long time as of this point.
2355800 or maybe another bad ending leading to another story.
For a second there , i thought that blossom would wake up and see that she really had done that to lily.
2355322 I know the end game.
2356218 1. Blossom is 18. The money is hers now.
2. What happens outside of Blossom's story isn't important. I'd have to do a ton more books if I was going to go into more detail on everypony's life after Rarity died.
2355588
Even though Diamond Tiara was right all along that this was the killer of her child, and knew of this as she lay dying just to twist the knife further.
In most cases it would be vigilante justice. Even if done in such a monstrous way.
Ever since I heard about the first story from a YouTube comment, I've been eagerly following this series and a bunch of your other works. Needless to say, this story is still going strong! Can't wait to see what happens next!
RELEVANT HEAVY METAL TIME!
What I think may be applicable to the ending of the story:
Part I - Blossom tries to take her own life
Part II - She is unsuccessful. Then things get worse.
That'd be suitably... dark.
Sorry Celly but this is where you are wrong. Yeah DT kidnapped Blossom and drugged her than tortured her but even after all that Blossom gutting her like a fish in retaliation still comes off as excessive in my opinion. Than again whatever seems to run in the Rarity family that produced these murderous tendencies in not just her and Blossom but Sweetie Belle as well appears to at least in part be triggered when one of them is backed into a corner(Rarity's first kills, Blossom being lured into the woods by Fire Ruby and Golden Necklace), so that may be taken into consideration.
2356543
I'm... confused. Even though what? Are you saying it was awful and such, agreeing with me in that it was what she painfully deserved for causing her mother's grief or that DT DIDN'T deserve it, despite being a royal bitch in canon and in this series?
2356381
Well, I wasn't sure with how she seemed to not take her inherited money; enough with her that is, so she wouldn't have to use/take others for the trip to her dad's and back home just as fast.
And I figured it wasn't, but figured you had your own theories or whatever that I was not sure if they were addressed previously (whether in the story (this one or the previous one) or to someone else). I guess not. dl.dropbox.com/u/31471793/FiMFiction/emoticons/sillyfilly_Sweetie_Belle.png
2358239
Disagreeing, considering that all in all, being a bitch does not mean she deserved death by her daughters killer while being told that she all along was right in that Blossom WAS the killer.
Also sweetie bell didn't kill by being backed in a corner. She did it out of curiosity, and later almost did the same to Twilight without no provocation needed.
2358274
Well, sorry you feel that way, but I hate DT (and SS) with a PASSION of the few colorful and plentiful ponies we've gotten to see over course of the series. Trixie was a bragger and other antagonists were jerks or whatever, but not hateful on the level DT is with possibly being a rich and spoiled filly (nothing against those kinds of people myself, so not personal), so I don't really hate them as well (I used to hate Discord but stories I've read with him not so chaotic or semi-good have turned my opinion of him, I suppose; read stories maybe with DT going through stuff or becoming better in a sense as well, but I still hate her in canon and stories with her as a bitch). And I mean, think about it, she provoked JB by cutting off part of her ear (hoping if they find it or whatever, they can reattach it like a severed limb/body part if it's not too late) and almost mutilating her cutie mark, as well as making her pretend to be a filly she killed cause DT was nuts at that point.
Of course, you're entitled to your opinion and if you missed it, I DID also say it was a horrific way to go, even if part of me is possibly happy that evil filly/mare gets what she deserved here, whether Blossom knew or not (likely so) what she did to her mom when she was a filly. Didn't jump for joy or anything, cause I also said I've been reading some pretty heavy stuff lately (this mostly, but also few other things too) and was stunned by the addition of gore here as well, I guess. Maybe it was a stretch to say got what she deserved and/or happy about it, but some people just never learn, as BronyWriter made her out to be.
And not really sure why you addressed about Sweetie Belle, when it's clear that was why. And she had JUST gotten her memory back of that night and was confused and angry and hurt, so when Twilight was unconscious after being revealed to have messed with her memory, she wasn't thinking. But I digress...
2358433
And sorry you feel that way as well, but being a rude jerk does not entitle one to be murdered from my opinion.
I have no pity for those who kill in such a manner, and in fact I'm disappointed that justice was not served as it should have been, course then again I still feel disappointed there was any pity at all for Rarity, rather then seeing her die slowly as she should have deserved in the end.
2358433>>2358609 Just trust that I know the endgame here.
2358627
I DO somewhat, I was just defending my opinion, since I saw you and Wroth replied to my comments on this chapter (though not the same one). Since as I said, I understand what JB's reasons for killing DT at the time were (though don't think he did, when I explained it clear as day), even though not sure if after that and the dream she had, if she's gonna keep quiet about it like she did with killing those brats like how Rarity did on her first day of school. But I will wait to find out, dude. And hope that things will not only work out for Blossom, but poor Sweetie Belle (even if again, you said she will probably be locked up not only in the story but to other commenters), if this series is nearing its end possibly. Sorry to have started a rant, sorta. And waiting until next chapter now to comment again, no matter what else is said.
Poor Blossom. Will it ever end for her?
2359036
The ride never ends
2353918..... OK... but will she still get to see comet? PWEASE!!
2360447 Yes.
ummm...damn
2362050 Ah. Well, I suppose that makes sense.
If only Blossom took after Rarity. I think that would have been the only thing that could make this story more awesome.
*he holds blossom close* your not like her... your not like her..." he begins to sob "shhh its ok... your not like her blossom... your a good pony..." ///this is what my oc stormdrift would of done and he would also cry you really pulled at my heart strings this time around
2620972 "Not to worry Blossom, the first is always the hardest....." He drew a knife from one his pockets and began to idly play with it. "With each kill, you'll grow wiser. With added wisdom, you'll grow stronger."
Probably something my OC would say.
2700864
My oc Berry Swirl would probably just say:
"You're not like her, you know that. You're better."
Hmm...
Interestingly disturbing.
Oh so this ISN'T a reincarnation story...
In other words: "Strike me down and complete your journey to the Dark Side!"
4543048 That would of been a great twist... I almost suspected she was Rarity reincarnated but I haven't finished the story so theres no telling what else might come out of left field
I'm calling the end of the story: either Blossom becomes the best pony ever, and no one dies again, and Diamond and Rarity come back to life and sing kumbaya, or everything goes to shit. And I think we all know which one it's going to be.
