It was anarchy. People in the streets of the usually peaceful neighborhood run around looking for cover or bringing their families outside to see, first hand, the end of all life as they knew it. A man in a teal colored shirt held his wife's and his small daughters hand as he ran them out to their front lawn. An older boy, age twelve by the look of his size, ran out after them. The man knelt down and hugged his family tight. His son and daughter were both crying and his wife was doing her best to console them and had tears in her eyes as well. He looked up to the sky as the meteor entered the atmosphere and was visible to the naked eye even though the sun was shining bright on the summers day. The man looked back to his daughter and wiped the tears from her eyes and started to sing in an effort to calm them and himself.
"Dont worry about a thing,
cause every little thing gonna be all right.
Singin: dont worry about a thing,
cause every little thing gonna be all right!
Rise up this mornin,
Smiled with the risin sun,
Three little birds
Pitch by my doorstep
Singin sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin’, "this is my message to you-ou-ou"
Singin’: don't worry bout a thing,
cause every little thing gonna be all right.
Singin’: don't worry bout a thing,
cause every little thing gonna be all right!"
At that moment the man put his head down and hugged his family as tightly as he could. Simultaneously, the earth shuddered an eight mile wide behemoth slammed into it causing the rumble to sound as if the earth itself was growling at the asteroid in protest to its life ending assault. Across the planet, people cried out to the heavens as it turned against them one final time, in doing so it thrust a rock into the place which teamed with life bringing it to its ultimate demise. And then the earth fell silent as it was once again, a dead planet. Only this time, ruins were left to mark what was once a thriving civilization of men, women, and children, living together whether it was peaceful or not. The earth would no longer bear fruit, or house its children.
All of this, because one person failed to save them all.
Ashley shot up in a cold sweat. She clenched her eyes shut realizing it was only a dream... at least until memories of events hours prior returned to her head telling her that that wasn’t a dream but rather the future. She felt a few tears brimming past her closed eyes as she brought a hand to wipe them... only to be reminded once again that it was no longer a hand. She opened her eyes but was forced to squint as they were assaulted with bright light.
Once she able to focus again she let out a semi-surprised when the muzzle of a large crowned pony filled her vision. The crowned pony’s large horn was glowing and her expression was that of brutal and unadulterated shock...
Ashley looked into the large pony’s eyes. Her eyes told of unbridled rage but her shocked expression was unwavering despite the tears that flowed down her face. Ashley didn’t know why... but she was afraid. It was a primal fear... but she was afraid of this pony for reasons she could not explain...
Finally! The truth is out! And that Ashley Bitch is going to PAY for what she's done! Oh, it's gonna be GLORIOUS!!!

Y U ALWAYS LEAVE ME IN CLIFF HANGER!?!?
1986133 Um, she didn't do anything though. She took the body of Twilight to save her planet.
1986133
A bitch? If I recall, she did what she did to save the lifes of billions of humans on Earth, and pulling "Guantanamo" on Twilight was entirely Celestia and SA´s doing.
1986133
By Ashley, do you mean Celestia?
Because she is the only one who has done anything truly unforgiveable so far.
1986149 And left Twilight to suffer my the hands of her own friends and family! Humanity is a damned race anyway; they had their chance and blew it big time! Fate chose them to be extingushed, and Ashley is soon gonna learn never to mess with fate!
1986260 Celestia never would've done it if Ashley hadn't taken Twilight's body to begin with!
1986151 Humans are Bastards, remember? I've seen the movie Avatar and others like it. The sooner the universe is rid of them, the better.
1986337
Her response was still cruel, unreasonable, and completely disproportionate. Ashely's actions may have been wrong (though arguably necessary and done out of desperation for a worthy cause), but that does not justify Celestia's response in any way.
1986332
Don't fight fate? So the ponies should not have fought Discord? Should not have fought Nightmare Moon? Should they have just rolled over and die as well? Why when it is ponies fighting for survival it is okay, but when humans do it we're monsters? Bit of a double standard there.
1986339
"Humans are Bastards" is a trope, NOT an established fact. Remember that there is another trope called Humans are Good, so you cannot use that trope as evidence. Most humans are NOT bastards, not in real life and certainly not in this story. In fact, the majority of the bastards I have seen so far in this story have been ponies. Avatar and movies like it are works of fiction, works of fiction created by humans, and I am annoyed by how negatively they portray humans in them. Humans seem to have a tendency to think the worst of themselves as a species with no real justification behind it.
Some humans are bastards, yes, but would you condemn an entire species to death based on the actions of a few? If so, why are you not condemning the ponies in this story for the same reasons? Finally, remember that you yourself are human. Do you think that you an unrepentantly evil monster that deserves to be destroyed as well? If so, then I feel sorry for you. If not, then perhaps many or most of your fellow humans might not be either.
You finally give us what we've been waiting for, and you make it a CLIFFY?! Another chapter, stat!
1986374
Humanist: I never said Celestia was off the hook; in fact, I'm looking forward to the chapter where they'll have to face Twilight again (hopefully back in her original form), but Ashley is the reason this all happened; desperation or not, there's no excuse of causing an innocent victim to suffer...especially since Ashley doesn't seem the least bit sorry for bringing it upon Twilight. She should've known Twilight was gonna suffer, but did NOTHING to at least prevent it.
Armalite: You know how it goes. Fate brought forth the return of Nightmare Moon and Discord, but destiny also decreed that Twilight and her friends would defeat them. It's the age old story: good always triumphs over evil. Nightmare Moon and Discord tried to break this, but no matter what, they still fell. Humanity tried to stop their fate, but not only did they meet it, the one who tried to stop it would be left behind not only to suffer under the enraged ponies, but to carry the eternal weight of failure on her shoulders
.
Raistlin: I know there are good humans in the world, but the number of evil overweighs the good; all humans are corrupted. It's our nature to be violent and destructive. Some are just better at hiding it in public than others. Some souls may be purer than others, but the number of evil and the potential for harm and death they have is too great to risk, especially toward purer worlds than this. They're are evil ponies, yes, but the majority of the species is pure and peaceful, unlike mankind were the majority is evil and destructive. Besides, I've only heard of the 'trope', but I agree with it all the same. There are good humans, but I'm not about to trust mankind with other lives anytime soon. Save the pure-hearted ones if you can, but I can't and won't believe that mankind is, as an overall species, worthy.
And I admit it; I'm a human too, and I too have violent urges and desires. Why else would I watch humans getting killed by monsters all the time? But should it come down between mankind and a purer cause, than you'd know what side I'm picking.
1986374: Perhaps you are right about a few things. Like I said before, causing innocent souls to suffer and perish is never justifiable. Perhaps the only reason I feel this way at the moment is the anger I feel toward Ashley for causing Twilight to suffer.
1986374
Dude, in case you haven´t noticed yet, you are arguing with another misanthropist troll who claims all humans are evil and must die (minus himself, if possible). Believe me, is not worthy the effort. This site seems to attract them like flies.
1986462
I'm pretty sure she didn't realize the ponies would behave so monstrously. I expect she thought they would be somewhat reasonable and talk to Twilight and quickly realize that Twilight had been body-swapped, not start mindlessly torturing Twilight and ignore anything and everything she says.
Ashley likely simply did not realize just how monstrous the people she left Twilight with were capable of being.
In addition, there is no fate but what we make for ourselves. Fate is just another human creation, something people believe in in order to try to make sense of the universe. It has no basis in reality, it is simply a fiction created to explain why things happen they way they do. Anyway, if fate does exist but is so cruel to condemn billions of innocents to death, why not fight it? In that scenario fate is a monster, so why bow down before it?
Statistics show otherwise: Most humans are perfectly content to live their lives without harming anyone else. Most humans care about other humans, and even non-humans. If the former wasn't true, society would have collapsed long ago. We would have no charities, no aid organizations, no governments, no communities whatsoever. If the latter wasn't true, we wouldn't have loving pet owners and animal and environmental activists.
Furthermore you seem to insist that the ponies are somehow morally superior to humans, and yet there has been absolutely no evidence in this story to support your claim (quite the opposite, actually). This isn't "mankind vs. a purer cause", this is "mankind and another race almost identical to them in pyschology both exist, also they are not actually versus each other."
Yes, humans have a "dark side", and ironically I think the best evidence of this "dark side" is misanthropy. It is such a bitter, hateful, and irrational point of view.
1986510
If I give up on him like he has given up on humanity, I am pretty sure that would make me a hypocrite (or something similar).
EDIT:
1986472
I feel the same way, and that is why I am defending humanity. Of the billions that may die if Ashley fails to save her world, most of them are innocents. As you said, "causing innocent souls to suffer and perish is never justifiable". I understand your anger, what happened to Twilight in this story was terrible. However, I am simply pointing out that Ashely alone is not responsible for what happened, nor did she inflict such agony on Twilight intentionally or even knowingly.
1986559: I wouldn't know the purity of humanity. For most of my life, almost every encounter with other people I have ends badly. Perhaps it's mostly my fault, thanks to my autism making me more hostile of people. Movies like Avatar and such only help to increase my negative thoughts, and stories like this don't really help either.
But you're right on all these accounts. Fate is for fairytales (which this story kinda is, but regardless), and if humans truly were mostly evil, our world would've been destroyed years ago, and who are ponies to judge on morality when they can corrupt it just as easily; the scarcity of corrupted ponies doesn't purify the fact that it CAN happen. I guess I never really gave it much thought through my frustration and anger seeing my favorite pony character going through all this. Perhaps I'll feel better once the happy ending comes...and I was being a bit hypocritical.
But thanks for beating that sense into my head. It was something I needed to hear...and thanks for not giving up on me, even if I was 'another misanthropist troll'. Perhaps this will help me improve my own stories on Fanfiction. Thanks.
1986655 I like the part where you say that all humans need to die. You do realize that you're human right?
1986675: Yes.
1986680 So you're implying that you need to die as well? And as far as I can tell, you're more of a bastard than most humans seeing as how most of us here just want to see thing conflict resolved for both sides, meanwhile you want to see a species wiped out. So; who's really human here?
1986701: I've already had this discussion with Humanist, and I'm glad he did; knocked some sense into my head. Sorry about all this.
1986715 Not a problem, glad this all got sorted out for both parties.
1986733: Sure thingBesides, I was even more hypocritical than I thought. There are a few Human/Equestria stories that I do like, such as An Alien Walks Amongst Us.
1986655
You are welcome. And thanks for being willing to listen to me, it means a lot.
All too often both sides of an argument become hostile to each other, seeing each other as the "enemy" and attack each other for perceived slights. Hostility is met with hostility, and a vicious cycle begins. From what I have seen it appears that misunderstanding, not malice, is the cause of most arguments (especially the most vicious of them).
Once again, thank you for taking the time to read my posts with an open mind instead of assuming them to be an attack against your views and yourself.
1986715
Apology is unnecessary, but accepted.
1986754: Thanks. ...though it's a little shaking. Everything I believed in for years now has just been shattered into a million pieces and different points of view have been shoved in place. It's a little scary.
1986764 This is what I like about this site: people; no matter where they hail or who they worship; how they were brought up or how old they are; will take the time to look from the other perspective (most of the time). I'm glad that you're seeing everything in a different light, for better or worse; it's something different. And a rule of thumb, people are always going to suck; the question is, will you?
1987119: Good point.
1987119
I'm a bit late on this, but I just wanted to comment on the last bit:
This viewpoint can actually contribute to a negative outlook in the first place. There is something called Confirmation Bias, which in short is "a tendency of people to favor information that confirms their beliefs or hypotheses." That is, if you go into a situation believing people such, you are more likely to see (and potentially exaggerate or even outright imagine/fabricate) evidence that supports your belief while unconsciously rejecting or downplaying evidence that contradicts your belief. Expecting people to suck is more likely to cause you to see evidence (real or imagined) that people suck, reinforcing the (in my opinion erroneous) belief in turn. This can naturally lead to a downwards spiral in one's opinion of humanity.
I hold the exact opposite philosophy: The majority of people are generally good, and most or all conflicts and hostility are caused by ignorance and misunderstanding instead of malice. I try to view strangers as potential friends instead of potential enemies, and you'd be surprised how infrequently I find myself disappointed. As I see it, there are three reasons for this:
1. Most people simply are nice in general, as I noted before.
2. If you treat someone well, they are more likely to reciprocate and be nice to you in response.
3. Confirmation bias applies to me and my views as well.
I do, however, support the "The question is, will you?" part of your sentence. As I noted above, treating people well yourself is more likely to cause others to treat you (and potentially everyone else) well in return. Furthermore, if you treat everyone terribly because you think people are terrible, you have become exactly what you hate in the first place. You are essentially proving yourself right in the worst possible way by being the exact kind of person you accuse others of being, full of hate and intolerance. You could say "humans are hateful, intolerant bastards", and point to yourself as proof. On the other hand, if you try to be a good person you can point to yourself as evidence that humans are NOT all bastards.
Basically, if you don't want "humans are bastards" to be true, don't be a bastard yourself.
Not that I really think anyone is a bastard, anyway, but I hope you get my meaning.

so in other words:
