Morning.

Morning rolled around in no time at all. Allura was the first to wake up, before quickly realising her snout was nestled in Opaline’s right wing. She backed off and spat a little, waking Opaline in the process.
“Ugh…” The fire alicorn stirred. For a moment she rested next to Allura. “What a night.”
“Yes,” Was all Allura could think to say.
“Was fun though,” Opaline said, stretching a little, and cracking her neck.
“Yes,” Allura repeated.
“You know,” Opaline continued, “I think that’s the first time in weeks I’ve felt that happy. And I have no shame in admitting I had great fun.”
“I do agree, it was fun,” Allura replied.

The two of them rested for a moment to take in their surroundings, and fully recall what happened last night.
“Do you perchance know any spells for hangovers?” Allura asked Opaline, massaging her forehead.
“I think I might,” Opaline’s replied, “just need to remember it.”
Allura sat down and waited as Opaline’s recalled the spell. “Take my hoof so it’ll work on you too.”
Allura held Opaline’s hoof as Opaline’s horn glowed bright white. Despite being robbed of the majority of her magic, Opaline had managed to harvest some from the tree where her castle once stood. She had just enough at the time to get rid of her headache and Alluras too. Allura watched as magic flowed through Opaline and herself. And I’m an instant, both of them felt right as rain, or snow since it was far too cold for rain now.

“What shall we do now then?” Opaline asked.
“Shouldn’t we leave?” Allura suggested, “Somepony might show up sometime.”
“No,” Opaline replied, “This place is closed till New Year’s Eve.”
“In that case, I might’ve seen a TV somewhere the night before,” Allura stated, “Let’s see what’s on shall we?”
“Okay then,” Opaline agreed.

The two were just about to open the door, when they both heard hoofsteps coming through the main doors. Any other day, they knew it would’ve been Alphabittle, but the tearoom was closed until new year. Whoever it was, the two villains were now at risk of being exposed. Opaline turned to Allura, and Allura beckoned her to follow her.

Allura began clambering out of the window, and Opaline followed suite. The escape went without a hitch for Allura, but then the roof of the window became loose and slammed down on Opaline’s back. Opaline tried her best to not scream in pain, and a quiet cry of pain escaped her mouth..

“Allura.” Opaline hissed. Allura turned back and saw Opaline was stuck. To Opaline’s surprise, Allura didn’t hesitate in racing back. She pushed the window open again quickly, and Opaline clambered out. Allura quietly closed the window, and both of them instinctively fell to the ground. They both waited, listening for the hoofsteps.

The steps grew louder until they were in the room Opaline and Allura had been in. They heard them padding around a little, before grabbing something and heading out the door. And when they heard the door close, the two winged villains snuck away into the cold winter woods.

The two walked for several minutes through the snowy forestscape. Though they were slightly sore in the head regardless of Opaline’s spell, Allura still had a keen sense of direction, and knew where her lair was. It took a little while for the two to process what had happened. Opaline couldn’t believe she, an alicorn, had so desperately asked for help. Allura couldn’t believe she’d been so quick to go back and help.
“Thank you for coming back,” Opaline finally said.
“No worries,” Allura said back.

The two were silent for a moment. Both couldn’t believe what the other had said. Though true they could remember acting like besties last night, neither expected it to carry into the next day, when the drunkenness had left them.
Then, as they were walking, Allura did something surprising; She slowly put her wing on Opaline’s back. Opaline turned her head to see what Allura had done. At first she was surprised and a little irritated, but eventually put her own wing on Allura’s back too.

About 10 more minutes of walking later, Allura arrived back at her makeshift lair. Twitch was sleeping inside and didn’t hear the two.
“Well, I suppose this is where we part ways,” Allura said.
“Yes indeed,” Opaline replied, “Maybe if we’re both still around by next year we can do something like this again?”
“By all means, yes,” Allura smiled, “And maybe you can come over to my lair sometime, and I’ll come over to yours?”
“Maybe,” Opaline replied, “But right now I don’t really have much of a lair. Remember I told you it got replaced by a tree I was trapped in. And besides, I’d like to get a little more sleep now.”
Allura respectfully nodded, and turned away from Opaline. Opaline did so too and started walking back to her castle tree.

On her way back, Opaline’s couldn’t help but think about Allura, and the time they had spent last night together; drinking litres and litres of liquor, swapping stories of their past, Opaline couldn’t deny that she had enjoyed herself, and she figured Allura too had fun.

“You know,” She said to no pony in particular, “Mayby friendship isn’t so bad after all… Not that I want to frolic in some forest with that Sunny and her friends, but… Maybe an evil friend would be nice. If it worked for the legion of doom…” Opaline looked up to the sky. She had never been so happy to be free.

I didn't know a new villain character: Allura is a thing until now!!?? Dang, Hasbro immediately replaced Opaline after she is "permanently" defeated!?

Not sure. They might bring her back in the future like other villains.

“And you are?” Allura purred.
“Umm, Opaline Arcana.” Opaline said. “May I ask what you’re doing here?”
“I don’t really have any creature else to spend hearths warming day with, so I figured I may aswell drown my sorrows with alcohol.”
“Huh, I came here for that too,” Opaline stated.

Allura + Opaline: "Guess we're best friends now!"

here were many things that they found they had in common; They both shared immense hatred for Sunny’s little friend group, a pair of wings rested on either of their backs, even their colour was a shared purple, albeit in different shades.

Sounds like... friendship?
Sunny, what do you think?

On her way back, Opaline’s couldn’t help but think about Allura, and the time they had spent last night together; drinking litres and litres of liquor, swapping stories of their past, Opaline couldn’t deny that she had enjoyed herself, and she figured Allura too had fun.

Sounds like the beginning of a good time...

Good story!
I enjoyed reading it.
