TacoTues4Eva

The taco is real!

T

An emotionally devastated and homeless Sunset seeks shelter in one of the most scariest and most avoided areas in Canterlot during a winter storm, Hillhurst Manor on the edge of the Everfree Forest. At least all of those stories of monsters are just because humans fear the dark and avoid what they don’t understand, right? Maybe not, and now because of a careless wish made during distress, Sunset is stuck having to return creatures from a comic series back to the pages they spawned from before the wish can be broken. At least she will have allies, even if they were the least expected as well as becoming part of a very unconventional family.

the description makes this sound like a spin on an old western Tokusatsu Sentai-type show called Beetleborgs that i used to own an episode of on VHS as a kid....

i'll let a few more chapters come out, but i'm interested.

Keeping my eye on this.

And so another legend unfolds
Let's see where it goes

11532458
It is, though the monsters from Hillhurst will be a lot different in my story as they will be more competent even if they don't seem so in the first chapter. They will still hate company coming over and try to scare away nosy thrill seekers, but they may develop a soft sport for Sunset. I hope it ends up being something you can like, but if not I understand.

11532864
Hopefully you enjoy it, sorry I didn't end up with enough time to answer messages last night and it looks like I won't be able to tonight though I should be to tomorrow. I really hope you end up liking this story. Also for any likes and stuff if anyone else is reading this, I really appreciate them and I will get to thanking you =individually tomorrow. That includes PMs, I'm very sorry.

11533088
having read chapter one with your comment's inspiration, i must say.

I like it.

11533384
I'm glad, I hope I can do a better job with this story than my last one and continue getting better with each new chapter and each new story.

11533777
i must stress, my only firsthand experience with Beetleborgs is the VHS tape my family owned as a kid, and i think that was actually a season transition special, since the original series is known as Big Bad Beetleborgs, and the VHS I remember watching was called, Beetleborgs Metallix, and one of the first lines (i think THE first line actually) that the female Beetleborg says in it is that it's been a year since they became Beetleborgs, in universe.

11534785
The show is pretty goofy, but I have to admit I kind of liked it. I never owned and tapes or discs of it, but I have seen a lot of it on Youtube and on TV. The theme song is a freaking earworm though and I can't get the music out of my head when I hear it.

Is she holding a Beetle Bonder?

Two chapters for the occasion of one yay :yay::yay::yay:

Eyup first lesson for Tepesh: Never wake up someone in from up close, you never know when you get punched and/or kicked.:raritywink:
Lesson truly important for everyone who lives with anyone...

Wallflower .... why do I think we have a second member of the armored brigade:unsuresweetie:? The color happens to match ...

And Kitty cat learned as the last lesson in his life not to expose his throat to a ranged fighter, truly an important lesson ...
Shame it happened too late ... oh well Rest in Pepperoni :ajsmug: Luchadore Tiger ... it is his name right? Because he needs something to be written on his grave and "Humanoid angry cat" doesn't look too good...:derpytongue2:

Chrysalis?:rainbowderp: Da Hay are you doing here?:facehoof: As far as I know, it is not time to be kicked out of the Equestrian Hive throne? Or are you ahead on shedule in being exploded by power of love and heroic speeches?:pinkiecrazy:

... okay it might not be OG!Chrysalis, somehow I can't imagine her buggy-ness bowing to anyone or anything ... now the question is, is it copy or wish-empowered and transformed local Chrysi?:twistnerd:

Somehow I am not surprised that they prefer avoiding humans, we sort of have a reputation as a race in the multiverse ... :pinkiecrazy:
Mostly for xenophobia, being hard to stomp out, and breeding with everything, especially dra...:twilightoops:nevermind last one is a bard stereotype.

Eyup that garlic myth is bunked, as far as I know, belief comes from mistaking Porphyria (Some sort of liver disorders?) for vampirism. On the other hand, most myths contain that vampires hate running water and so to a little artificial stream of water should be enough to stop one.

And so we have another case of a truly unusual family ... still not the weirdest thing I read about/ heard about/ saw ...:trollestia:

11545737
Yep, sometimes it might take a bit of time such as a week between chapters, hopefully less and not more, but I will post them as I can get them done and won't hold back chapters. So as soon as I finish a chapter I will send it to get proofed then post when I get it back.

A very important lesson, poor vampire...

Maybe, possibly, could be. Then again might not be...though she will be important to the story either way. :pinkiecrazy:

Yep, and a lesson learned though unable to make use of for poor Tabby. I really like the name Luchadore Tiger, okay if I use it? Too bad he wasn't a samurai though, maybe he would be delivering pepperoni instead of resting in it. :raritywink: Yeah, humanoid angry cat wouldn't look as good for his name when remembered. Just couldn't really come up with a name so just kept it generic as Sunset hadn't gotten that far in the comics yet.

Chrysalis looking like a pony is actually a huuuuuuge coincidence as the creater of the Beetleborg comics in this story is actually the human version. She will have vastly different powers than the real version. As hinted, this is kind of a Sailor Moon scenario where they are collecting energy to resurrect a dark goddess. I actually played with the idea of keeping the same enemies, swapping them out for originals which I can't really do to save my life I learned, and swapping them out for multiversal characters from all the series out there and MLP. I kind of went with MLP at least for the main one. So this Chrysalis is actually a creation of the human version pulled out of the comics.

I actually love the idea of the monsters there becoming a sort of family for Sunset, and sadly we really are a more monstrous race sometimes than the actual monsters when it comes to the multiverse sadly. Maybe one day humans will learn to not only get along with one another as well as all other sentient species out there.

Never much liked the whole garlic thing, but never heard of that. It's kind of cool learning that, thanks. The water thing is another things I never thought about as it didn't ever make much sense to me. If it is true, does than mean modern vampire wouldn't be able to shower or anything? Just kind of weird, especially as you pointed out it would be super easy to trap one with a manmade stream.

I'm glad it isn't, but hopefully it is up there lol. :pinkiecrazy::pinkiehappy:

11546035
No problem, take as much time as you need.:scootangel:

If you want to use Luchadore Tiger then sure:twilightsmile:, I even give one better:
"El Pyre Tigre" - a fan of fried fries and frying enemies. Wherever he goes expect copious amounts of fire and/or stench of burned hair (Seriously who gave a creature that spits hairballs a fire breath and didn't equip it with mints or air freshener?)

*Blinks* Aha, so a Chrysalis that suffers from CCCB Syndrom:pinkiecrazy:
( Comic-ally Convoluted Character Backstory). Considering we have a comic book situation here it's just SNABU as usual. Let's hope she can close her villain monologue/motivation in two A4 pages, otherwise, she will kill Sunny and the beetle squad ... with boredom. I would say it is time to prepare fumigation bombs but looking at Chrysalis size, a standard fumigator might not be enough ... besides considering Sunny&Future Friends Beetle motive and comic logic, using pest control devices might be a double edge sword:twilightoops: ... and ironic to boot:facehoof:...
And now I think that meeting between Chrysalis...es(?) will reasemble certain Spider-Man twins meme :rainbowlaugh:

Vampiric lore is long, convoluted (Blaming Hollywood for that one, the last good Vampire movie that at least tried to pay homage to original lore that I watched was "Dracula 2000" and it had its own issues.) and hard to research but weaknesses that are most repeated across different media are:
-Vampire needs to rest on earth from "birthplace" to regain strength/coffin filled with such earth (Unknown if it relates to the place of birth or place of transformation)
-Hate sunlight to the point of damage
-Can't enter religious sanctuaries (Not tied to paricular faith, just to it being a consecrated sanctuary)
-Can't willingly cross running water (Can be bypassed by for example carrying a sleeping vampire through the stream. Unknown if it can be an artificial stream or must be a natural one. The issue with the inability to shower was touched in one Rosario+ fanfic that I read, it was bypassed with a mix of herbs that made water "neutral" (one satchel for the swimming pool) for a vampire to wash and swim. Also, there was a situation in the same fic when the vampire was caught in a water trap. Apparently, the water didn't deal damage but it sapped all the strength, enough to immobilize. Unknown if those two facts are applicable to all vampires or if it was in-universe. If yes then that gives a method to detect vampires: unwashed stench.)
-Vampire can't enter a home unless invited by the occupant (Doesn't need to be owner or resident, might be another guest, and invitation can be forced and doesn't need to be done knowingly (Intimidation, hostage, hypnosis, deception, etc.)
-Aspen wooden stakes through the heart (Must be aspen in media which connects Dracula with Judas, otherwise any stake will do. There are some variants where older vampire gets paralyzed instead of dusted. In Forgotten Realms stake that was left after dusting the vampire might grow into a cursed tree that spawns other plant enemies, enthralls victims, and creates dual fruits, one that poisons and one that heals.)

Of course, it all depends on the in-universe variant, it might have all or none of such traits, or maybe some other quirks. A good source of vampiric knowledge from what I heard is Vampire: Masquerade RPG game (There is a paper version and a PC version (Rather buggy but a nice game nonetheless, watched let's play for lore)

And now it is time to slumber before other chapter *Jumps into quite realistic "replica" of sarcophagus" known as bed*:derpytongue2:

11546174
Thanks, I want to see if I can't do a bit better on length of chapters with this story and hopefully make it flow a bit better.

lol, ok I think I like that one better, You bring up something extremely important...where is his breath mints? Wow, I bet the smell of his breath is enough to knock people out...maybe it wasn't the energy drain that did that. :pinkiecrazy: Anywho, this is kind of what came to mind when you said rest in pepperoni earlier.

Hopefully she can, then again, that might become her entire plan. Why waste energy trying to defeat them when you can just bore them to death? She does suffer from that though and will have moments of comic villain stupidity as well as moments of pretty clear thinking that will make her a real threat at times...maybe. Definitely won't be enough, though I did have a bit of a temptation to write a short chapter for April Fool's Day of Chrysalis confronting Sunset herself, giving a whole speech and threaten to kill her only for Sunset to step on her as she was only three inches tall. In the story, yeah, she's way too big for a fumigator to work as she's at least as big as a horse, if not bigger since she's from a comic. Some of her powers will be different too. You do have a very good point as I plan on keeping the bug out spell that turns them into bugs for infiltration or escape purposes. Might happen as I do plan on having the human Chrysalis appear and actually help out from time to time.

Yeah, I've seen a lot of different lore from movies and books and depending on the situation, I love some things and hate others. I will be using a few things you mentioned, though I have something planned that I hope doesn't sound entirely stupid for the story once it happens that will help Vlad out a lot.

I think I did read a Rosario fic similar to that, I think Moko also suffered a shock that drained her powers when she tried to help the guy (I can't spell his name sadly) and left her unable to move. I want to think the one I read was a crossover with Naruto, but I can't remember.

There is one really huge pet peeve that I have with some book lore, and that special place goes to a certain series they made into movies. A certain series that shares a name with one of the best ponies...Twilight. I just can't get over sparkly vampires...seriously...sparkly vampires. :facehoof: I know people have bad ideas at times, I've had a ton, but...sparkly vampires...:ajsleepy:

I do like the idea of older vampires being paralyzed instead of killed, but that is a fact I never heard of before with the stake needing to be Aspen. It is a pretty cool reason though, and makes it a little more important to pick the right wood instead of an arrow or broken stick or something.

For Vlad, right now in this universe he doesn't like sunlight and exposure can kill him, he sleeps in a coffin though I didn't plan on needing dirt though maybe I should use it (thanks for that), of course a stake will kill him (though might go with paralyzing him since neither will happen anyways), the home thing I won't be able to use for reasons though I kind of like the idea and at the same time I never understood it, water won't effect him (though that is a good vampire test lol, stinky vamps), and finally he won't be able to enter religious places. Of course, some of these may or may not change with plans I have. As for power, he can hypnotize, erase memories of the last few minutes only, his bite heals withing seconds because of the venom he secretes upon biting that heals and promotes healing as well as gives the bitten a boost of energy for a short time in exchange for giving him blood, the ability to fly, turn into a bat, mists and I'm debating a wolf.

lol have a good night. :pinkiehappy:

11546358

... sure transportaion by shooting yourself from giant revolver , thank you cartoons and anime for daily dose of nonsensic awesomness.:pinkiecrazy:

Welp shame that this April fool's omake didn't come into existence, it kinda reminds me of Saitama and those Subterranean monsters (After all he did stomp their leader literally).:ajsmug:

Welp fic that I read was a crossover with HP:
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13150962/1/Harry-and-a-Vampire
Maybe "water=weakness" is just an in-universe weakness here?

Tiaaaa, as far as I am concerned those sparkpires are not vampires but some sort of undead golem that gives vampires a bad name. *Twitches and shudders*
It is the same for werewolves from that universe, for me, those are effects of failed (Reaaaally failed. Since when wolfs or werewolfs of any kind have a hive mind and imprint themselves on newborn?! I have a theory that all the shamans(nerds) were dead and some warriors(jocks) thought that they can do spiritual "mumbo jumbo" better than experts. Guess how well that has gone?:trixieshiftright:) totem warrior ritual that was passed through the tribe's bloodline.

Actually both running water weakness and "invitation needed" have a simple explanation:
-Running water ---> Water purifies ---> Vampires are undead and so unclean by their very nature (Actually vampires share that weakness with Nuckelavee, who are considered bringers of misfortune and plague...and ugly bosh'tets to boot:derpytongue2:)

-Invitation has a longer explanation and it's a mix between the spiritual/mythical power of doorway/portal that was attributed both in greek culture and some pagan beliefs (Guest rights and honor were very important in early cultures, if you broke guest rights entire village/city was going into lockdown and even homeless were hunting you. Vampires as evil were by default "Honorless"), and the fact that vampire being a creatures of "sin" and "evil" needs to be willingly invited by a human just like "inviting darkness" into one's heart. Basically, it has sources in religious metaphors ("Beware of temptation" type) folk metaphors ("Don't invite strangers child" type), and fear of immigrants (Funny how that tidbit of history repeats itself now). The first mention that I found of that, reach the 17th century, in the particular year 1645 when the England civil war caused mistrust and paranoia towards newcomers to spike even more... in addition to another big planetwide mess...:facehoof:

Welp Vlad seems to have a typical and almost full powerset of an elder vampire. As a similar example, I give a stat block of the vampiric boss of the DnD campaign (I know that plothole veeeeeery well considering he was one that almost TPK (Total Party Kill) my group )
https://dr-eigenvalue.github.io/bestiary/creature/strahd-von-zarovich
It's not a perfect example of how powerful that type of creature can be but it is an example (It doesn't include that he was tied to powerful curse and had total dominion over a small pocket dimension ... the size of an entire county of Ravenloft:rainbowderp:)
At least we know that Vlad is a member of Lunar Republic by default.:yay:

11546589
It sure is...unique, that's for sure. I don't think I've seen something quite like that before making is extra awesome. :rainbowlaugh:

Should really make a One Punch Sunset one of these days...I really wish I was able to get to it, though I might write it as an omake at some point.

Thanks, I bookmarked that and I intend to check it out. While I haven't seen all of Rosario, I really loved what I've seen so far and I really like the second season's theme song for some reason, it is pretty catchy for some reason and the song gets stuck in my head when I hear it. It could be just an in-universe thing, not sure, but for some reason I really like the idea.

That actually makes better sense than them being vampires, sooooo much better sense. I do have to agree with your theory as it helps explain the existence of those things a little better. This might not be the best interpretation of werewolves, but this is probably my all time favorite werewolf in media.

i.ytimg.com/vi/HBp15DFRxOQ/hqdefault.jpg

Thanks, I always did wonder where something like that actually came from. Your explanation gives the whole thing a lot more context of the why which I can actually see that being an actual thing with vampires now, as with your explanation of water. It does seem either religion or paranoia often lead to huge messes which is extremely sad. I myself am religious, though I have no qualms condemning many things people did in God's name when I seriously doubt God would ever have wanted that in the first place.

Yep, I do want him really strong though he does fear several people and creatures, one of them being hi ex-wife. That D&D one looks pretty powerful from what I understand of it, and Vlad can climb walls and surfaces easy and does have extreme regenerative abilities with the aid of fresh blood, though still pretty fast at it without as long as the damage isn't extreme. The pocket dimension is an awesome idea and to maintain one that big makes you wonder just how powerful he really is. And yep, definitely, Luna is the best Princess along with Twilight, but the best OG princess for sure.

11532458
Dude, same. I only had the start of the second season on vhs, but I recognized this crossover as soon as I saw the vaguely beetle shaped morpher. I watched it when I was 9, how the fuck did I recognize that?

11556088
Too bad they didn't make more, but I guess they ran out of material from the original to use. I have the next chapter halfway done and hoping to be able to finish it withing a couple days.

11546358
Samurai Pizza Cats! That is a blast from the past, just like The Adventures of T-Rex.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0243687/

Loved the garlic comment... :moustache:

11557786
I loved Pizza Cats, but never heard of T-Rex...I'll have to check it out some so thanks for the link. Thanks. :pinkiehappy:

... and now I wonder from which era mummy comes from that it was feasible for a woman (Not a chauvinist but history and society sorta was/is:derpytongue2:) to do that to her own child and not to be kicked to the kitchen during the process / getting Imhotep from "Mummy" movie treatment afterwards, needless to say it's good for probably long deceased mother that Mums was not in a position of being The Pharaoh (As far as I understand), otherwise I don't think her life was pleasant later on. After all, they won't let you just die in agony for cursing and entombing a "living god":twilightoops:.

Sooo school still holds an idiot ball ... the size of a wrecking ball if not bigger. And it seems it is going to be a longer period of time than normal before Anony issue is buried, especially considering that someone might start saying that monsters are Sunny's fault basing on faulty pattern recognition (Faulty "Demon transformation" and later Siren attack is not yet a pattern but there is always going to be an amateur detective ... or certain school movie club that might argue that it is:facehoof:)

Huh so I was not exactly wrong with Wallflower being a green candidate, but I was blindsided by Trixie being a blue one :rainbowderp:(I was thinking it was going to be either Sonata or Sci-Twi).

It is safe to say that outside the job Power Rangers are color-coded by their clothes, and EQG-Taco-Verse Beetleborgs are color-coded by their skin-tone:rainbowlaugh: , well at least their armors, dressing preferences and looks are now more matching than ever.:raritywink:

I can't stop thinking that it is highly probable that Trixie will blow up her cover in about a week, mostly because transformation covers body build, gender, and voice but it does nothing for speech patterns, and "Great and Powerful Trixie" is sort of recognizable for her boasting and talking in third person all the time.:derpytongue2: And so ... two non-existing equestrian bits on a week period before accidental unmasking. (Unless the entire city suffers brain damage or there is some sort of "fidelius" effect over Canterot.)

Welp, there is a saying that with family you look good only in photos... I don't have advice but I wish ye good luck with whatever is going on.

Huh so kitty has a name, that's ... yay.

11559813
I kind of toyed with timeframes a lot and kind of snuck in a small bit from another series I enjoy (or at least G1 of that series, I think G2 is considered part of it and G3 was that reboot movie that got rid of some of my favorite characters and finally G4 being that awful made for TV movie...or at least I think that is how it went.) I found that Mum's mother actually supposedly did that in Beetleborgs (minus the messed up singing and looks) and combined that with Seth from the series I mentioned. Though I do have to wonder how she really got away with it in Beetleborgs.

I'd say a lot bigger, though I might have to move away from the whole Anon A Miss thing after this story when I do another one as I'm sure people will probably tire of it no matter how I'm addicted to it. It will probably be awhile before the whole thing is buried, and even after I don't think Sunset is going to go back to being friends with them. You have a point of some idiots likely going to start blaming Sunset for the monsters and while they are technically right, it was those students that forced Sunset into the position of even needing to make the wish. Maybe Rares and CMC will get involved in that, not positive on that aspect just yet though.

Not wrong at all about Wallflower and since Trixie was blue and not exactly apart of the Rainbooms (okay, she is actually one of my favorite characters too) I thought she could make the perfect blue beetleborg. While I believe the blue one was the leader in the series, I was going to make Sunset the leader in this but I might end up making it more depending on circumstance though Sunset may be more in the leader role...possibly. lol I love the Taco Verse thing! :rainbowlaugh:

That is a huge problem, but one I thought of and have plans for. :pinkiehappy: Otherwise you are right, she would be recognized way too quickly. Though most of the city may be brain damaged to some extent...it would explain a lot.

I really like the thought of family being loving, supportive and always there for you. I guess it is a huge reason why I like Sunset so much and like giving her families that will be that for her. Just too bad the two members of my family I live with act like hateful, spiteful two year olds more and more and at the moment I really don't have any choice but to put up with it. Thanks for the well wishes though. :pinkiehappy:

Yep, thank you so much, I credited you in the author notes, I really loved your idea. :pinkiehappy:

hope you can come back online and update your stories someday.

11797012
I do too... His complete and sudden radio silence with no warning is really starting to concern me.. :fluttercry:
