This story was freaking fucking bloody bastard amazing i must say. Everything feel so very wrong, but also so very right at the same time. I don't know why, but i feel some migthy strong Bad Colts Camp vibes from this chapter. Very nice as that story was freaking amazing. Fantastic job my friend, pure gold with this one.

After what happened, I don't blame Thorax.
By the way, if you think about it, it turns out that on the planet after the disaster, Dragons are likely to survive. They literally bathe in lava, so they are not afraid of fire. They are able to eat stones, so they are not afraid of hunger if all other life disappears. (I remember Spike at one point eating charcoal like popcorn. so the stones don't have to be precious.) Of course, very low temperatures are likely to harm them, but they can wait out the nuclear winter in suspended animation, as most reptiles and amphibians do.
It's funny that in our world the lizards died out because of the meteorite, then in Equestria the lizards will become the dominant species because of the meteorite.
But why wouldn't blocking the asteroid with the moon work? Twilight didn't actually answer that. Even if the moon and asteroid end up completely shattering each other and cause millions of smaller meteorites to rain down on the planet, that would still be preferable to a giant asteroid. Since this is a literal extinction level catastrophe I'm surprised they didn't try it.
In fact, the asteroid might not even need to hit the moon. Just getting them close enough to create a gravitational slingshot might be enough to make the asteroid miss the planet.
Albeit dark, this whole concept is friggin' hilarious. No wonder this still keeps going.

Look, I just wanted to try to acknowledge the myriad of these sort comments on this story series without getting too meta. Because given what we've seen in the show, I'm sure that yes, any of the comment suggestions to avert the apocalypse would probably have worked. But then this story series just would not have been possible. I don't fault you (readers) for questioning the porn logic. It very much is questionable.

after reading almost all the stories of this series, the thought came to my mind: What if in fact there was no meteorite and the inhabitants of Equestria actually saw this spaceship? The meteorite was said to be the size of a crystal empire, but if you think about it, the crystal empire is just one major city. And just about the same size should be a spaceship capable of containing enclosures for a pair of every creature on the planet. Besides, how did it happen that the meteorite was seen, but the spacecraft was not? (At least Discord should have noticed that in addition to the meteorite, there is also a large metal box flying.)

No, this was just a funny what if idea I thought of after reading this one. Would be pretty awkward for everyone to just go back to their normal lives after being on the ship
So I've been reading a lot of the comments here, with people trying to hard science what's supposed to be a simple porn story, and I have to admit they're coming up with good theories about how to potentially stop the destruction of Equestria. But for the story to work we have to accept that Equestria is going to be destroyed no matter what is attempted.
The only theory I can come up with to make everything work, is that all of the magic in Equestria is pretty much limited to how far it extends. Discord's chaos magic can only affect parts of the world, not the whole world all at once, and it can't extend far enough beyond the atmosphere of the world to affect the incoming asteroid, or even move the planet out of the way, not can it provide a shield that can withstand the force of the impact it would meet. Maybe Luna can only move the moon, not position it as she sees fit because it's locked in orbit with the planet.
For all we know Equestria has the long range telemetry necessary to detect the asteroid is made of some mineral/element that renders it impervious to magic since it's outside the scope of their world's enclosed reality, and this is the real world intruding on what was a closed environment; like when we made the dodo bird go extinct.
In order to stop this asteroid just put. Cv_Cheats_1 and stop it

Guys, it's obvious why they couldn't stop it.
Everyone was thinking like the commenters and looking for logical solutions. They thought they were in Armageddon or Deep Impact.
If they'd known they were in Deep Penetration instead, they could have argued their case on the basis of how many major cest-ships were getting wiped out without a scene, but their genre detectors were miscalibrated, just like the one scooping up the couples and throuples.

Also if that's the case then there's more mystery of who built it but I guess it's a pretty classic headcannon that Equis was hoof built.
