The prequels are basically about how an incompetent order of monks found the messiah, and managed to give him to Satan, gift-wrap and all. For as much as I love it when Sheev is cackling and hamming it up, it's the subtle seduction to the dark side that really makes the character.

In the novelizations, it's pretty expanded upon, and we see that Sheev was pretty much Anakin's only trusted friend, almost like a father. Hell, if you want to get into it, Palpatine pretty much was Anakin's father, given that the whole miraculous conception was the result of a Force ritual that he performed.
Are we talking about BJ Whimpley's version of Palpatine?

Nah, more like the old Stover novelizations.
It has been stated as such by George Lucas himself that Anakin was going to fall to the dark side when Qui-Gon was killed. The music was called Duel of Fates for that very reason.
Anakin did not need a brother (Obi-Wan) he needed a father. A role that Sheev took over.
Will this be part of a series?

The Prequel trilogy always felt more like Sheev Palpatine's story, rather than Anakin's. Watching him play the galaxy against itself and right into his waiting grasp.
