For them, a dream. Like thousands of other dreams. For you, a story. Like thousands of other stories.

Sequels1

This story is a sequel to Your Faithful Disciple

Izzy Moonbow has always been a dreamer. Her imagination is boundless, and her energy bottomless. Most of her family and friends have learned to take what she says with a grain of salt. So when Izzy starts talking about her dream of the mare with the mane made of stardust, most everypony goes on with their lives. Magical manes? Alicorn princesses? Myths; relics of bygone history.

But Izzy knows that Luna is real. And Luna has a dream…

Daaaaaamn, this was good. I think you should write more stuff like this.

This was so beautiful.

Thank you for your comments, and I’m glad you enjoyed it.

I do intend to add more stories to this mini-series; hopefully I can get at least one more out before the movie premieres. We shall see.

Rainbow Connection reference?

It’s cheeky and not overtly relevant to the story, but yes--I saw the opportunity and took it.

Something silly seemed fitting for an Izzy story.

Maybe I'm just a sucker for a bubbly character with hidden depths, but this was wonderful. I'm guessing the next installment will feature Cadance recruiting Zipp?

You are half-correct! The recent revelations regarding possible associations between the new main characters and virtues like the Elements of Harmony reshaped this story somewhat, and confidence is noted as Pipp’s virtue. But fret not--Zipp will have her turn.

I too enjoy the idea of bubbly, “silly” characters often having way more underneath the surface (and thus Luna, whose talent involves being able to see beneath the surface, often makes fast friends with them); I think Pinkie was often a good example of this back in FiM, and Izzy is set to be worthy successor.

I thoroughly enjoyed Your Faithful Disciple, and was pleasantly surprised to see you wrote a sequel to it - oddly, it never occurred to me that this could be a series.

This one was just as grand. A little less grave, though, which isn't to say it's bad - it seems befitting of Izzy and her character.

I'm certainly excited to see what you have next in store... I assume it'll be Pipp next? The newest addition to pink princesses?

And you've done it again. Two for two so far, and twice now you've made me cry tears of joy. Your writing is beautiful.

Seriously, the "you will show her friendship, and she will show you magic" line hits HARD after seeing the trailer, and it actually had me walking away from my computer so that I could find a tissue to wipe away my tears. What a beautiful, hope-filled line to end this fic with.

So Twilight gets Sunny, Luna gets Izzy, and Cadance gets Pipp. I'm guessing Celestia will get Zipp and Flurry will get Hitch, if we're doing one Alicorn for each of the Mane 5.

Welcome back, and I’m glad you enjoyed this work as well.

I don’t think any of the others will be quite so grand; Sunny gets to wear that crown, as it were, being that she seems to be Twilight’s successor (narratively speaking, I mean) as the “main character.” I feel like her destiny is the biggest, and so what happens around her is naturally the most complex.

I did not at first imagine it would be a series either. I was content to let Your Faithful Disciple be a standalone idea. And then the idea occured to me, wiggling into my head and staying there: “there are five princesses and five new characters.” Izzy and Luna seemed to be the next correct choice, with what little we’ve seen of Izzy’s character painting her as the semi-oblivious optimist--an idealistic “dreamer” that would be perfect for Luna to inspire. Obviously I added some depth to her character here that I’m not sure will end up being canonical, but, as I’ve said elsewhere, I love silly characters with hidden depths.

Pipp and Cadance will indeed be next--the fact that they are both Pretty Pink Pony Pegasus Princesses is one common element I intend to explore, but there will be others.

Well, I apologize for continuing to make you cry, though I’m happy that these are at least happy tears and you’re enjoying yourself.

I wasn’t quite sure how I wanted to end this one. I’m still not sure I, personally, am happy with the ending. But the story seemed to be bloating and I couldn’t think of ways to add more to it without making it drag, so here we are, and apparently I made the right choice.

One princess to one scion, yes, though I will leave it a mystery for now as to whether you’ve guessed the order correctly. The way I’ve set the series up, I intend to use the new characters to explore, compare, and contrast things with their paired princess; that’s a dangerous game, I know, with the movie not being out yet and thus personalities only being a guess at best, but I like what I’ve got, and I hope the audience will too.

Bubbly characters with hidden depths is literally why FanOfMostEverything and I practically worship Derpy.

Well this was a very nice story so it looks like Luna and Cadence have this idea having five new generation ponies to bring back the harmony I will say this is a pretty interesting idea keep up the good work

You managed to bring tears to my eyes also.
My heart's a rock, I only cried the second time I watched the final episode.
Ya did good.

Man, I just read this and Your Faithful Disciple. You've more than earned a like and a follow in my book

Loved both this and Your Faithful Disciple.
Looks like next is Cadance and Pipp, and I'm looking forward to it!
I wonder who the last two matchups will be?

Ooooh, I am loving this series so far! :D It really stands out among all the tired "G5 sucks" fics I've been seeing. Gonna jump right into the Pipp one from here, and I can't wait to see the last two!

I loved the dreamer character portrayed here. This has to be my favorite so far.

Howdy, hi!

I'm super loving this series of stories so far. I really like the vivid imagery you wrote of the field and moonlit night. It really sets the tone of everything. I also love the mischievous characterization you've given Luna, it's very gremlin-like of her.

and i see that the setup is going to be the five Alicorn Princesses for each of the five main characters! that is a very neat conceit, as is the Luna-Moonbow connection. i did not realize that "Izzy" was an unusually human name until this fic, and it sort of fits with her taking so much after Pinkie, who also has an oddly human name in Diane. and the mention of Trixie and Starlight's lines of descent merging was a fun touch. the nickname of "Lunatic" was also very cute and fitting, and a nice moment to establish the character and relationships of her unnamed parents. the way that Luna interacts with Izzy here (in dreams) is also different from how Twilight does with Sunny in the previous story, so it will be interesting to see what you come up with for the other Princesses as well.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
I still love those final lines there - you will show her friendship, and she will show you magic
In general, I adore how you've conveyed Izzy's thought processes and the ethereal feeling of the dream realm. Fantastic work!

Awwww! This was sweet!

Also nice callback to Lullaby For A Princess. It seems the Princesses are finding their would be succesors!

Well I don’t why this series has got the water works flowing but it sure has, it certainly is a good story and I will read the rest when I calm down
