All I got from the ending was that everything before that was Twilight reliving memories of a past life. As a Space Marine, I guess, in this version of Equestria.
And that someone is a Horus Heresy fan. Prequel said it. This 100% confirmed 😁. Or I don't know what I'm talking about. Also possible 😲.

Yup, she’s reliving a past life here, although not as a superpony fighter (Like Space Marines), but as a mere mortal Legionnaire officer. The Legions here are like the Excertus Imperialis of 30K. So essentially she’s a simple mortal standing between a superior goddess in order to protect Princess Celestia. She knows she’s outmatched, yet she still does her duty. Ave Imperator! Oops, I mean Ave Celestia!
But you’re definitely right on the second one. Big fan of the Horus Heresy over here!
