You have to remember that Tara is a Hybrid, a cross of pony and xenomorph. She still has all the bio-mechanical features a Queen has. Besides how else would she be able to pull off facial expressions? Also she never had a host, she was displaced.

what's the point of xenomorph when we already have the changeling? The original concept of changelings is xenomorph+zerg+folklore changeling. there's definitely a reason why in season 2 only changeling queen can speaks and shows emotion at all in their base form.

Changeling self-inserts have been done to death. The only few Xenomorph self-inserts there are are unfinished, not to mention the Mane character is a Royal hybrid.
