This story is a sequel to Thicker Than Water

Lightning Dust's career has been an impressive one. After forming Bitchette with Rainbow Dash and playing on their first two albums, she formed another successful band with The Washouts. But still, touring as a support act for Bitchette forces her to reflect on her fame in relation to Rainbow's, and she does not like what she finds...

A story set in the Who We Become series.

If I can destroy anything just to meet you in person I would destroy those Disney remakes

Is Lightning Dust Indigo Zap's sister in this universe?

Lol that's uh, well I'm not sure what to say to that :twilightblush:

10945579
Yeah, she is

10945582
Honestly I think I would’ve destroyed this remakes regardless lol xD

Disney needs a reality check

i honestly felt so bad for LD, i know what it's like to get ignored by those that are more well liked by fans

Sorry to hear this is a relatable experience for you, but I'm glad you enjoyed the story!

Huh, those aren't the lyrics I remember for Rainbow's song...

Oh well!

Great work as always Bun. ^_^

Oh shit this made me realize I didn't credit Jay for the lyrics :facehoof: I'll fix that. And anyway, I couldn't blind people with my own dazzling lyrics, the world isn't ready for that

Guess I'll add 'prequels in the sequel then ending on a sequel, but to the latest chronological fic still a prequel' to the list of things I can expect from a Krickis fic.

Also on that list:
Dream sequences cunningly disguised of reality.
Queer horses.
Queer humans with the same names as the queer horses.
Feels.
And all of the drama.

I actually wasn't expecting Rainbow Dash to be the one to solve the friendship problem. But am so glad she did.

(How do the cover arts keep getting better!?)

But she was still a fan, and Lightning was a professional. “Yeah, sure.” She took the CD from the fan, pulled out the booklet, and signed her name underneath Rainbow Dash’s. That seemed to be where she belonged, after all.

This STILL makes me hurt a bit. By a bit I mean a lot.

All I’ve got is this guitar, but I will shine

The way I choked. I almost forgot about this oh my god. So no "this is a song" song?

“Let’s grab some guitars and find an open mic night, just make all the patrons shit themselves when they see who shows up.”

Sounds like typical Rainbow Dashs shenanigans, of course she'd join.

Anyway, GOD. I gotta love me some more WWB. I was wondering when this would come out. Considering you were waiting for the cover art, it was well worth the wait (it looks awesome! As always, Pasu is a genius).

I wish I had more to say. I mean, I love the human side of the story so much, no matter whose POV its from, and I definitely think it's interesting to get a story like this that's Lightning Dust's POV to show us what she's feeling pre and post Bitchette.

Great work, Kricks! As always, I'm looking forward to reading whatever you write next :)

I really like the ending mood in this story; nothing is perfect and there is still a lot to solve, but there is still something good in the begrudging bond these two have.

Very nice short story. Always nice to see Rainbow giving pep talks. I'm really happy that she agrees that The Washouts played the better show. Lighting's in a tough place, being in her shadow, but Rainbow's doing her best to make it so she doesn't stay there long. Seeing the beginning of their friendship was pretty cool, too. Funny how a few coincidences turn out.

And wow, Pasu did a great job on the cover art. I love that the "Thicker Than Water" cover art is there as part of Rainbow's accolades.

Glad to see a nice ending. The preview looked like it was going to be a downer.

(How do the cover arts keep getting better!?)

I know, Pasu just gets better and better, it's insane! I'm glad you enjoyed the story, and yeah once in a while Rainbow can do things right lol

Thank you, glad you liked it! It was a chill story to write, I always like these scene by scene flash stories, and telling how Lightning and Rainbow came to be friends (and thus how Bitchette came to be a thing) was a lot of fun!

10946024
I'm glad you think so! I'm really happy with how this one turned out, writing able friendship rather than romance sometimes is nice.

10946074
I love supportive Rainbow so much. I slow her messing up a lot, I'm glad I was able to show her getting it right in this one. And yeah, Pasu absolutely floored me with this gorgeous cover! She was specifically saying she hoped people noticed the TTW cover, so very cool that you did :yay:

Haha I can do nice things here and there :raritywink:

And yet… Lightning Dust glanced over to the Bitchette merch table. None of the band members were even there, and it was still swarmed with fans while the Washouts table was largely ignored.

Damn! :pinkiegasp:

“Well, it was nice to meet you.” The fan smiled. “I’ll look up some Washout songs when I get home.”

At least it's not a total loss. :ajsmug:

Well, it didn’t come as a surprise when he stumbled and fell to the floor. Lightning Dust scoffed as a few of his friends picked him up and took him home. So lame.

Oh my! :twilightoops:

“If he started a new band, you think he’d be on tour with us? Fuck no! You’re not just here because you were in Bitchette, you’re here because you’re still part of our band family.”

She's got a point there. :applejackunsure:

Lightning laughed, and she followed Rainbow out of the hotel room. Because really, when it got down to it, there were worse people to follow around.

Even with their own bands, glad to see them continue being friends.

Not that I ever doubted it, but it's still great to see Rainbow and Dust continue to be on good terms even after she split off to form another band.

it's frankly a wonder Lightning Dust doesn't completely resent Rainbow

quite a character you made of her :)
