Fluttershy, Mare of the Ministry of Peace, travels to the Zebra capital of Roam to discuss a new treaty. But the pine forests outside the city beckon her in to where, alone with her regrets, she contemplates the nature of solitude.

A Fallout: Equestria story, inspired by Ottorino Respighi's The Pines of Rome.

Rated teen for the somewhat heavy subject material and one instance of profanity used purely for historical accuracy.

Beautiful story. Makes me wish I was better versed in the Fallout Equestria lore.

Definitely some wonderful, atmospheric, poignant stuff you've got here. It's interesting to see a story that works both as a side story to Fallout: Equestria, a pseudo-prequel, and a standalone piece on its own.

We need more wartime and pre-war stories like this to expand upon and explore the nooks and crannies of FOE lore. Not everything needs to be about epic conflicts and what comes later.

I would have liked to have seen more of Fluttershy's mission alongside a more in-depth look at the issues of segregation and that tension that she repeatedly notes, but I did like what was there. It left me wanting to know more, and that's a good thing. Nicely done.
