Even though several years have passed since their wedding, Canvas and Troius Clawston's lives were just as content as it was when they first eloped. Troy was still a highly-successful singer and theater actor, who had managed to make a name for himself as one of the few gryphons performing on Bridleway. Meanwhile, Canvas was still regarded as one of Equestria's most proficient artists, and was even able to expand his work to more than one studio. In fact, Troy and Canvas were able to invest in a second home in Manehattan, even though Ponyville always remained their true hometown.
But while Troy was up in Manehattan to rehearse for an upcoming show, Canvas was busy adjusting to Ponyville by himself following Princess Twilight's departure. Or at least, that was what Canvas was expecting to do when he went to Sugar Cube Corner one particular morning; but instead, the artist was thrown into a life-changing quest the moment he found his Cutie Mark glowing for an unexpected summoning...

"Oh hi Nurse Redheart! Are you calling about the twins appointment?"

Click. Looking around at the incredulous expressions on the other ponies, he shrugged.
"Booty call."

A welcome surprise. Also have yet to get a maple bacon doughnut. The doughnut shop that sells them is out by the time I get there.
Now I have an excuse to reread all the other Brushed Away stories. Again.

Adjusting her sun hat, Rainbow Dash looked across the table at her former monarch squirmed in her seat, one hoof idly scratching her ear.
"Sage senses Celestia?"
Smiling slightly, Celestia took a sip of tea before saying "What do you know about that dear my little pony?"
Taking a sip of tea herself, Rainbow shrugged.
"Earth pony ability, albeit a pretty rare one. Pretty much a sage, or Luck Maker, are able to guess and even jerrymander destiny and Probablity through willpower. It can show itself in all sorts of way, such as through whispering lamp posts or ghostly images, but the most common is the body itself reacting, IE, Pinkie Sense. So whats yours?"
"Itchy ear and like a bee stung my cutie mark."
"Right ear twitch three times, pointing towards the castle, so thats someone close... someones close is talking, but its not burning so its not about you... pain in the butt... Yup... all classic signs of Twilight being a stupid bitch."

Something about this chapter made me start to wonder if there are people who want to have their tattoos preserved after death.
I need to learn to identify subjects on which I should not indulge my curiosity. I have seen things that cannot be unseen.

I'm not sure either. However, I do know that in some places and cultures, tattoos had a practical purpose.
For example, a couple of centuries ago in Japan, it was made illegal to have tattoos as the only ones in society that could have them were the mafia or fireman. The latter of which was allowed because the tattoo was used as a way to identify someone in case they may die on the job.

Interestingly enough, tattooing is still highly frowned-upon in Japan and South Korea to this day, mostly due to its strong cultural connection to crime syndicates. In fact, the only way for tattooing to be legal in either of those countries is if the artist has a doctor's license.

So...what was the friendship problem that was solved by winning the contest? If he'd gotten Flamingo's parent(s? I forget) to accept her, that'd be something. If he'd changed the bigot's mind, that'd be something too. But if the only problem it solved was preventing a transphobe from delaying her surgery...well, that's a problem, but it's not a friendship problem, because there wasn't a friendship to begin with. Seems to me the Cutie Map lit up to tell Canvas he could get a bitchin' tattoo for free if he left right then.

Then the butt alarm should have gone off while they were getting high together. Which could have been really funny, depending on just how high they got.
But really, that was the friendship problem so important that it was the only one to generate a mission since Twilight ascended to the throne? Maybe Treelight is the one who's high.
