The Bricklayer

Slow down, you're doing fine, you can't be everything you want to be, before your time... -Vienna, The Stranger: Billy Joel. (Any Pronouns)

Speed, power, passion. The roar of the engine. Sunset knew that was what she wanted out of life. The lure of the street is a powerful one. The thrill of it all, and the adrenaline rush of racing between the lights and outrunning the cops. The lure of the street is an easy one. But getting out of it... well, that's the hard part, isn't it?

"I live my life a quarter-mile at a time. Nothing else ... For those ten seconds or less, I'm free." -Dominic Toretto.

"Ask any racer, any real racer. It doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile, winning's winning." -Also Dominic Toretto. NOT a Fast and the Furious crossover, though it does take a few cues from the films. Help provided by Seriff Pilcrow. Give him a shout, eh?

I wonder what happened to Lightning Dust? She may have an good court case against her coming up. Hopefully Sunset can find some peace in her new life.

If this is Need for Speed by the gods BRING IN THE BMW M3 GTR

An excellent read. Really captured the feeling of screaming down night streets in a sports car. Now I know why there's a thriller tag to this story; it gives you the thrills. But it also knows when to relent and let the readers catch their breath.

By the way, the only car in this story that I even faintly recognize is the Dodge Hellcat.

The story is featured? Where?

One of those things I intentionally left up the imagination really. This story was really about Sunset and her constantly changing attitudes to the street. Lightning was basically just the designated antagonist.

Funny that, the Need for Speed Hot Pursuit style ending? Wasn't really planned, it just sort of... happened.

Yeah, the racing scenes themselves weren't necessarily very long by any means but they didn't actually need to be. They needed to be brief short spurts. Just enough to get your heart pumping and let you catch a breather. But yeah, I was hoping I got that casual feel for the non-car nerds. The Hellcat you say? Yeah, that, of all the cars I used, was probably my least favorite. Look, a supercar you're supposed to be seen in, that's the point of them. But a Hellcat Challenger? It just says you're overcompensating for something.

This story requires a full blown sequel.

Sweet! Do a Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2010 next with newer cars and have Sunset becoming a Police Officer and go to Seacrest County to prove to that she's one of the best officers. Driving the most exotic cars with state of the art equipment to shut down racers.

Months Later somewhere in Seacrest County, CA

"In pursuit of a silver Porsche 918 Spyder on Foxlair Pass driving at exsessive speeds!"

Suddenly a silver Porsche 918 Spyder flew by the screen with several SCPD Ford Shelby GT500s were racing after the high speed hybrid exotic supercar in hot pursuit with their siriens wailing. The three mustangs were gaining on the 918 Spyder as it dodged cars in front of it. Suddenly the driver of the exotic Porcshe made a sharp right turn as they came to an intersection.

"Suspect is identified as Jet Stream an escapee from the Seacrest County Detention Center! He's extremely dangerous and has already disabled several of our patrol cars requesting backup now!"

Just as the 3 mustangs made a sharp right turn to chase after Jet Stream and his 918 Spyder a Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 in the same paint job as the other cars of the SCPD cars and had its red and blue siriens flashing and raced by the 3 muscle cars and was in hot pursuit of the wanted driver. But the person driving the Aventador was Sunset who now wearing a police uniform and was now a Sargent in the department and had unlocked many cars including the REVETON, MP4-12C, One-77, and the 2017 Ford GT. She was just called in to help with the pursuit and now was ready to giving this criminal full force of the law.

"Confirmed Intercepter 1 your clear to engage."

Sunset picked up her car's radio and said back to headquarters, "Copy that control! I'm going in!"

Just as Sunset put her radio down she shifted her patrol car to its 7th gear reaching 210 mph and was racing its top speed as the V12 roared as the car accelerated faster. She then rear rammed the Porcshe 918 Spyder giving it some damage from her ram.

One of those things I intentionally left up the imagination really. This story was really about Sunset and her constantly changing attitudes to the street. Lightning was basically just the designated antagonist.

In your story, I'm guessing the great enemy is pride.

Pride is what led Sunset down a destructive path. Pride is what led Sunset getting back behind the wheel.

Only by the slimmest of chances has Sunset avoided a destructive fate. It is an addict witnessing what his/her addiction will lead to.

Eh, the thing is with me and sequels I don't tend to do them. Not often anyways. Two reasons. One, if it's something you shouldn't mess with, you don't. Two, I really need to know what I'm doing if I decide to mess with the golden goose so to speak. The street racing scenes were surprisingly tough to do actually. Not my usual style of action sequence. Very vibrant, a lot of motion in play. This is more someone like Seriff's thing, honestly.

10218634
You've got it. Pride is the real villain here. Pride led Sunset down this self-destructive path. Pride kept her from admitting it. Pride kept her from admitting how much she'd screwed up, and ruined her personal relationships. It took someone almost dying for her to get her wake-up call. It is exactly like an addict. Instead of drugs or drinking, here it's the frankly seductive lure of speed. Kickstart my heart indeed...

10218556
Heh. Yeah, I'll think about it at least, but as I mentioned to Jakub above unless I really know what I want, I shouldn't mess with this anytime soon.

Nice, as a man who loves street racing theme I say you did a wonderful job.

P.S. Need more Vin Diesel's cheesy quotes!!!

I like it. Well done

You know, the grand irony is? I don't actually approve of street racing for the most part, and yet I may have succeeded in glamorizing it a bit too much.

...funny that. But yeah, the WORLD needs more cheesy Vin Diesel quotes.
