As for the plot twist, I kinda spoiled it for myself (strictly accidentally) before watching S9, so... knew the whole time and wasn't really bothered by it, but I can understand why many were.

Yeah, like I said, I totally understand why people were disappointed, seeing how Grogar was a long anticipated character to make an appearance in the show, and having him be Discord not only reset his entire involvement in the series, it also deprived him of any epic final battle. But I personally didn't know Grogar before, since I'm only familiar with G4, I guess that's one reason why I wasn't upset.
As for your question, the story is going to end with Grogar's banishment, so no, he won't get the chance to react to his identity being stolen.
