Because in this series, after she was turned to stone, Twilight and her friends didn’t feel it was right to give her such a cruel punishment. So, after Celestia told Twilight she was ready, she and her friends talked things out with her, saying that she could be possible for redemption, and that a was similar to Starlight when she fought her. As a result, Cozy was freed and is now friends with them in this series.
