Black Hailstorm

A never-ending storm of ideas

T

This story is a sequel to Answer Me

In the days leading after Luna's Coronation, Equestria sits at the pinnacle of reclaiming stability.

However the stress can be a bit much. Surprisingly, in these stressful moments, there is something to read from a stranger both known and unknown who has congratz, apologies, and gifts for his intended reader.

Well... that's one way to start one's rule.

I always found it somewhat interesting in the series that Luna returns and you never see her once till what amounts to months later in Nightmare Night. I've seen a few authors take interpretation of that in different directions, I had the idea that given the state of things in this Equestria-- Celestia, dead; the aristocracy a mess with Fancypants dead; and Celestia's students trying to pick up the pieces of a civil war-- the students of Celestia would choose to have Luna be a public figure, with limited duties as she adjusted to all the changes.

It's been roughly speaking, a month in total since her announced Return. And ponies are wary of her now that some of those legends about her and Nightmare Moon, might just be true.

Unexpected heartwarming chapter for the villain(s).

That was an interesting conversation.

Hrmm, so Overcast is an outsider who popped in to meddle with Equestria? That doesn't quite explain how he knows so much about the various supposed timelines of this alternate Equestria though...

But then, even knowing doesn't make his moves the right ones. Especially since even if he does know, he would also know that the tipping point is Luna getting back so late, yet he did absolutely nothing about that. So far I'm still more on the side of the other girls that Overcast is full of it.

Bit of a swerve here but bare with me.

In Answer Me its shown Twilight and the cast are well informed and know the truth of Luna's absence. You see this in a bunch of interactions in later chapters and its also shown they are still trying to keep this a secret, with a bit of a network so they don't have to resort to...unsavory methods of silencing those outside the clique. The major thing the group try to figure out however is when NMM is coming back so they can prepare to subdue her.

They never once attempt, even Celestia herself doesn't suggest, they speed up the whole process and just release NMM from her satellite prison even after being made aware that Luna is NMM. With the Elements restored, should have been easy and no doubt it's something that might have come up way before Overcast even shows up. Twilight and the others might have suggested it even before to the Princess. Yet, they never try to do this or even attempt it.

Reasons can range quite a bit but the biggest is how the characters themselves see everything. Its pretty clear throughout the confrontation that the others see Princess Luna the victim, trapped by the demons that turned her into Nightmare Moon. And while the Elements can do a lot, Luna outright states when she nearly lashes out at the start of the meeting in Chapter 1:

I came to discuss, and you brought weapons to a meeting of discussion.

Sunburst, who was also a close part of the group can be inferred as having known the truth about Luna also, Overcast being bonded to Sunburst? There's ways he could have learnt about Luna, Celestia, and other aspects of Equestria history to come to his own conclusions.

The next chapter will clarify things a bit more though. So stay tuned for that as I'm practically half way done with it. Working out some kinks and it should br up in a day or so.

And maybe I should put up some sort of disclaimer that marks things different in this verse also. Been feeling I should have done that awhile ago but wasn't quite sure.

Why don't any of these stories have a dark tags, then?

Thanks and you too.

Jeebus, still wondering the why and how of his murder of Celestia. Either this is being revealed gradually, or I was too hasty when reading the first installment.

Hoyly bejeezits, well that was a ridem definitely answered a lot of my earlier questions now about how and why stuff happened. Now I am just as curious as they are about the ender business and what will go on in the future

and maybe what other demons and alicorns lie in wait
