Isn't the mlp world the place with so many gems that you could literally create entire jewel mountains?

Zerg Rush Intensifies

Dimensional Rift

Essence spinner

Mutualistic creep

I don't know why, but I'd like to see the zerg create really evil plant based units. Think of the possibilities: Infestor shroom mines, grass that can absorb corpses, thus allowing you to get the resources of fallen yerg back, and those of enemy corpses, giant sun flowers that collect huge amounts of energy, maybe even recreate all zerg units of all factions. Unlimited possibilities.

thanks for voting, but please use the method shown in the author note, it will make it easier for me to tally them

[x] Production Strains: you will be given the genetic blueprints for two new organisms capable of converting any type of energy into minerals and vespene gas
[] Dimensional Rift: every now and then, ruptures in the dimensional barriers will occur, letting dangerous creatures through, these creatures will be deadly and varied, with many useful traits for the swarm
[x] Game Logic, son: units and buildings will develop as fast as they do in games, and will be able to evolve to do it even faster
[] Essence Spinner: you will be able to see and interact with essence the same way Abathur does
[] Dimensional Trap: once your swarm reaches a certain size, it will emit a signal similar to a displaced’s S.O.S. luring the more careless of their ilk to the awaiting maws of your swarm
[x] Mutualistic Creep: the creep will automatically bond and form mutualistic symbiosis with the local flora, allowing it to produce more energy and biomass without any extra effort

[] A desert, vast and sandy and hot (the desert west of appleloosa)
[] A Wasteland, lifeless as far as you could see (badlands)
[x] A thick and dark forest, you sensed plenty of dangers, and plenty of opportunities (everfree forest)
[] A Pony made tunnel, there was foul smelling water on the flour, you were on a stone sidewalk, near the water (sewers of canterlot)

great start if this is starting before prep for canterlot wedding and not after as it seems vote changes to sewers of canterlot

thanks for voting, but, uh... you didn't need to copy all of it, just the choices you voted for :twilightsheepish:

Sorry, but the device I am using would make it really hard and annoying to do so.

[] Production Strains: Allows you to be creative.

[X] Dimensional Rift: Also a fill in the blank, for new writers.

[] Game Logic, son: If this is chosen, please Nerf it down a bit. Like a spire in a day perhaps?

[X] Essence Spinner: I don't understand everything about this, but it allows creativity.

[] Dimensional Trap: Seems a bit, random and unpredictable, good for new writers who have no idea what to write about.

[X] Mutualistic Creep: Good for explaining where you get biomass from.

[X] (everfree forest) For best biomass efficiency.

Friendly reminder that not everyone likes overpowered characters, always try to make flaws in them and try to nerf overpowered things.

the mc is a zerg, he's going to end up as a god killing eldritch horror sooner or later, flaws or not

[x] Production Strains: you will be given the genetic blueprints for two new organisms capable of converting any type of energy into minerals and vespene gas

So your gonna write the story based off what people choose that seems like it could roadblock you very quickly

Understood, what I mean to convey is to take your time, make the story last a bit. Relish in the suffering of those you wish to destroy and the like. In other words go for the long game.

oh don't worry, i plan to

i know, i come from Spacebattles forum and Questionable Questing, this isn't my first quest, besides, there is no real plot, it's a sandbox, and i'm not above being a right bastard to keep order

be advised, in five hours the voting period will be over

Is there a reason you aren't doing this on a proper forum or the live questing site fiction.live?

[X] Dimensional Rift: every now and then, ruptures in the dimensional barriers will occur, letting dangerous creatures through, these creatures will be deadly and varied, with many useful traits for the swarm

[X]Everfree

My reasonings are as follows.

-dimensional rifts to keep the heat off of us from the inhabitants of this world. Killing, subduing monstrosities that terrorize the populace could be a valuable card to help avoid war until/unless we want it. The extra traits are just icing on the cake.

-essence spinner is a must. I don't have the time to sit down and explain it, but if you want to overcome the swarms limitations and approach theoretical heights like I do. Grab this.

-mutualistic creep. Symbiotes beat parasites, and don't provoke the immune response of the host like an aggressive cancer or other parasitic entities to.
For our purposes, though. It gives us a non-destructive means of assimilating into this world. I guarantee a willing equestrian ally with conscious and intelligent hybrid units is better than a pile of biomass we nearly die a dozen times to get.

Everfree. One of the only places nature runs wild. It's where we have the most biomass and the best species to incorporate. Mutualistic creep could turn this place into a haven for us.

Damn. The issue with this, is that people who have already cast a vote don't get notifications on new comments to this story.

Like. I don't know how we can debate over what to do here.

One of the reasons I switched to live questing in the first place, honestly.

Can I ask you guys to read my plan please and consider switching production strain to something else?

The number one issue I have with it, is that it and Mutualistic creep have the same kind of resource benefits. And more importantly, it's still just a Zerg 'strain' so we could make our own using essence Weaver, given a bit of time.

Thank you for your ideas, I find myself agreeing with you. A nice well laid out argument on your part, congrats. I change my vote.

truthfuly? mostly curiosity, and because i'm already running quests on qq, and i also felt like doing a quest here because why not, and the matter of discucssion is (i think,) a matter of replying/quoting others

Hi there. I've kinda filled up your comment section here, but I have one last thing to say.

Please change the game speed production option.

I have three reasons.

Number bloat- in the games, your units are more a representation of your forces, not the literal amount. You have a population cap. In this world, I'm assuming that 200 is far from the limit. And being able to build 40000 zerglings in 15 seconds is beyond overkill.

Flow of resources. We would not have a stable input and output. We would either have to stockpile materials, limit the number of production facilities, or outright accept that we'll have a pit of larva we can't evolve, because we drain our resources in a minute, and then wait for them to trickle in again four hours at a time.
Basically, were still limited by our income even with this ability...

Finally, it's just not realistic. Being a quest, playing a ROBd human turned Zerg, and placing the setting as mlp for this are already enough to struggle with immersion or attachments for you as the author. I don't know you, or what kind of writer you are.
But I write stories for the purpose of making others forget about the outside world. I'm trying to provide a place for their imaginations to work to their hearts content. And I think immersion is one of the best tools for this.
If the mc doesn't treat his situation like it's real, how can a reader?

9704360
all valid concerns, let me try to answer them

*the game production speed thing: while yes, in the game all things are more or less a representation, in here it won't be like that, yes, there will be
lots of units being produced fast, but there is two things that will slow the production down, one, as you mentioned, is resources, especially with the fact that there is absolutely zero vespene gas on the mlp world, already that's going to be a problem for the swarm, and the second, Celestia, Luna, Discord, and others that i won't mention because spoilers, two are (at least in this iteration) demigodesses that could give primal Kerrigan one hell of a fight each, and the other is a child friendly azathoth (again, in this iteration), which means growing too much, too fast would be a really bad idea because then mc-kun would die screaming, if he's lucky.

* resources: wether or not we have too much or too many will be of very little relevance because of what is stated in the paragraph above as well as other, 'may or may not happen' things

*realistic character/setting: i'm not a 'last of us, walking dead the game' kind of writer, i'm more of a 'doom, wolfenstein, warhammer 40k space hulk' kind of writer

It's looking like production, game logic, and essence spinner are tied with 3 votes each I think. Mutualistic creep has 5 votes and dimensional rifts has 2. I might have mis-tallyed though. Am on phone.

Also, author, what about making a group for voting? I don't know for sure, but it might have better tools than the comment section.

nothing ventured nothing gained

[X] Go back to the cave . Safer so you won't get rushed on that early.

Finds the Tree of Harmony and Plunderseeds, then absorbs some energy from the Tree and mass from the seeds to enable Harmony and Disharmony strains for the Future (plus resistance and adaptability to the Elements)

Somewhere with enough biomass and adequate danger, someplace where hopefully other intelligent organisms wouldn't look. (My suggestion)

[x] Go back to the cave: less starting biomass, safer, hidden

[X] use the cave: less risk of being discovered by ponies so early on

[x]Cave
more starting biomass would be nice, but we can always leave to hunt/forage, and the changeling might prove helpful, so I'm going to go with the safest option.
Besides, the Zerg are most suited to playing the long game, I'm pretty certain

What powers were choosen in the first chapter?

9705988
a shit, right, forgot to add them in an author note, sorry, anyways, the winning votes were: mutualistic creep, dimensional rift, and essence spinner, if i'm not mistaken

[X] Brave the night, keep searching: ????
I’m adventurous so reasoning? Eh, screw it. Something good may come out of it. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

please use the correct format of vote

[X] Cave
Not much to say about this one really. If our larval form is fast enough to explore the bogs edge and this cavern/cave in one day. Then our first units will be able to do it in like an hour tops.

So safe bas with immediate expansion/dummy give in the bog
