Well to spoil the whole thing: The OC Silver Scapel had Celestia assassinated so that he could fuck her corpse. He's also video taping the corpse-fucking and has paid Photo Finish to edit the video so that Blueblood is doing the corpse-rape. Then after cleaning up his own mess, he'll leave Blueblood sperm, which he obtained from a whorse, at the scene before taking the body home with him as his personal fuck toy. There! 9838956 I was just thinking the same thing. I can see two ways that could work.
Celestia either figured out the assassination attempt and used a spell to fake her death to see who would attempt to profit by it, or already knew who'd planned it, and fakewd her death to trap him.
Alicorns are true immortals who can't be killed permanently, and revive after a time. Maybe because they're tied to a concept, and unless you kill the concept, you can't kill the mare. In which case even if it wasn't all a Xanatos gambit on her part, it ends up the same way.
