Sundance and his friends prove their worth to their new Clan, wanting nothing more than to bring justice to the galaxy and put an end to the cruelty of Clan Draconequus. However; when a new enemy enters the fight, things take a turn for the worst.
10052369 It's no fun if the protagonists win easily. Even so, things aren't going quite as well for Shadow as they seem. If you read carefully through the scene where Shadow and Twilight are talking, there are a few sentences that seem like they should be significant, but then get immediately glossed over. I'll put what I'm talking about in spoilers in case anyone else reading this wants to find it for themselves.
"...but hitching a ride on my van was uncharacteristically ill-thought on your part," he said as he walked behind her.
Twilight scowled, confused. She'd teleported over. That meant somepony else was following him- but who?...
As for how Shadow inherited the Element of Generosity, it's been hinted at a few times that he was a very different pony when he was younger. Twilight even guesses at that when she says,
"That just sounds like somepony who's been corrupted by power."
Centuries is an immense amount of time for people / ponies to change. Had Shadow ever needed to use his Element after his corruption it would have been clear to everyone that he's not worthy of it anymore, but luckily for him The Elements hadn't been needed during that time. I actually have something for that particular Element planned, but it's a long way off. Probably at the end of part three.
I could make a one-shot talking about Shadow's rise and fall at some point. I'll admit I haven't put a huge amount of thought into his backstory, but there are a lot of possibilities that I could make into a story.
10052501 The Inner Sphere does have ER tech, they're just not as good as the Clan versions. I think in lore the Inner Sphere ER lasers do less damage and have shorter range, and their ER PPC does two thirds the damage of its Clan counterpart.
10052661 Are you sure? Sarna has different stats for Inner Sphere and Clan ER weapons, and it also says they're manufactured on Inner Sphere planets by Inner Sphere companies. The Grand Dragon's ER PPC specifically was a Lord's Light 2 made by Alashain Weapons on Tok Do, a planet controlled by the Draconis Combine since 2571.
10053436 Ah, that explains it. I think MechWarrior 4 is generally considered even more apocryphal than the other games (another example from MW4 is how you can mount a Heavy Gauss Rifle in a 'Mech's arm, when in lore firing a Heavy Gauss is powerful enough that even if mounted in the arm of an assault 'Mech, the limb will effectively be ripped off), so I use Sarna for all that stuff.
I feel that too many things going right for Shadow and how did he get Generosity since he clear isn't a match for it.

that was the one thign I did wonder on.
But little somethign I forgot with Granite. He is compainling about CLan tech yet his current mech has clan tech on with with the ER lasers.
Though honestly I feel bad for Rarity's line losing Genrosity.
Though I be more interested how the clan situation even came about then Shadow's fall.

I have that story planned for after part three.

inner sphere doies not have ER weapons unless scavenged from clan mechs. theuy have standard lasers.

Played mechwarrior 4 and the RE was always clan specific with innersphere being the standard stuff.
Inner sphere: weighs more and shorter range.
Clan: extended range (hence ER) weighs less but heats up more

Ah. Well still the laser thing should be consistent though.
10053680
I'm trying to stay consistent with the lore. The 7K Grand Dragon uses Inner Sphere ER Mediums, so that's what I decided to put in.

Odd, granted In mechwarrior lore some clans did battle with IS after the big war but unlikely here.
