Interesting... very interesting. Could the power of the Sun be moving to a new holder? IIRC, Celestia was the original holder of the Elements of Harmony; now the Elements have new Bearers, possibly her other powers must be handed over too. If so, it is something that I'm sure will have consequences, severe consequences, for the Mane 6.
... Really? Thousands of years of politicking, and _that_ is how she breaks the news? She must still be in shock - there is no way that _that_ came from the mind of a perfectly rational Celestia. I assure you there would be some more surprise in my reaction most of the time, but apparently it turned 2am a while ago, so fatigue is somewhat suppressing that. Anyway, having managed to catch up in one sitting, I now look forward to seeing more. But first - sleep.
1125179 I agree. Somehow, I think she could have used her vast experience to find some way to break it to Twilight gently. I feel your sleep deprivation, I was up till three yesterday.
You might want to check those undercores... I think you meant to use the italics button?
1125179 I agree with you that Celestia is not in her usual state of mind at this point, but she sort of explained to Luna why she had come to the conclusion that she had lost her status as a deity. There was a threat right under her nose and she ignored and defamed the one person who told her of it, she almost lost her nation and her people to said threat, and she can no longer raise the sun. Since we don't know the powers governing godhood very well, it could be possible (in this universe) that a deity could lose his/her power as a sort of karmic retribution for incompetence and arrogance.
On an unrelated note, is it hubris if a deity is the perpetrator? Siphoning the powers of gods for their foolishness, that would be an interesting responsibility for Nemesis.
