Lots-and-lots of feels in this story. It's very heartbreaking. However you did a great job in giving an overview of the mourning process along with how, in the end, the body may die but the legacy left behind never fades.

I'd wonder how Flurry would take the loss of her father. She'd probably least understand why her dad would die of age. After all she was born by the combined love from Cadence and Shining Armor and Cadence wasn't a natural Alicorn like Flurry Heart was. She'd probably wonder how there wasn't something 'special' in her dad to keep him alive forever just as she and her mom were.

No doubt it would be a heartbreaking moment. It would probably be worse for Twilight, though, as her friends would pass with the likely exception of Spike.

Immortality is not a good thing when you realize how much loss you'd incur over-and-over again. Mortality, as scary as it is, at least means you need not have to feel the pain of loss forever in an endless cycle that happens to everyone but you.

Aww, man. (sniff) Really emotional story. Sad, but VERY appropriately so. (sniff) Yeah, my mom was in a pretty bad accident more than 25 years ago and never recovered either. My family had to make the hard choice to pull the plug. And, yeah, I don't mind admitting that it STILL hurts, even more than 25 years later.

Anyway, excellent job on the characterizations.

It's a really a tragedy, but it's beautiful and moving. Shining Armor was a good husband and prince as well. Time to say goodbye is hard, especially he or she is your spouse and you know it's the last time to say goodbye.
