“Thanks, Rarity. I’m really glad you came.”

The faintest hint of a flush crept into Rarity’s cheeks as Twilight scurried away, and she coughed daintily.

    Yes. Well. Quite.

    :rainbowlaugh: I loved that bit

Overall this was brilliant, a sheer level of :rainbowhuh: and :pinkiecrazy: all the way through.

On a side note if you don't mind... WHERE IS THE IMMORTAL GAME!?!? :flutterrage:

Though I have to admit, every time there's a hostage situation, I can't stop but keep thinking this one line: shoot the hostage. Even though that had no applicable scenario here.

    Hmm... just needs music, too.

I also just noticed that I have your other two stories on 'Read Later'.

    Twi'd the Hardest!

It's been quite a day for Twilight in hero stories. Can't say I'm not happy about that!

Cool action, wonderful imagination and messed up spells!

Though you didn't have her crawling through any ventilation shafts. You ruined the whole thing! Tell Trixie to start over, with more feeling!

Let's hope Twilight doesn't end this story... With a Vengeance!

That was... interesting. A bit of laughs here and there, but honestly, the whole technological shenanigans felt really off. I mean, on an enviroment that's all magic and mythic creatures, suddenly having a cyborg with a chainsaw for a tail, missiles and jetpacks was kind of confusing. Maybe I didn't completely get the Ludicral Improbabilitinator's effect, but I think it would have been better if you had just stuck to purely magical - big bladed spikes on the dragon tail, magical wings on the minotaurs, magical energy condensed into a missile. That kinda thing

    #24 · 41w, 6d ago · · ·

    >>990819 The function of Star Swirl's Ludicral Improbabilitinator is to make everything possible more epic. Technology that should not exist comes out of freaking nowhere, minions poof into existence at the drop of a hat. Weapons will appear from hammer space for no adequately explained reason. Star Swirl developed the spell by studying the effects of chaos magic itself. He researched all known accounts of Discord's magic and eventually developed the time travel spell to take samples of the energy directly from one of his attacks. It essentially dictates that the odds of anything happening are as close to 100% as possible. This can have both positive and negative effects as the hero will make death-defying escapes but will also be presented with near impossible challenges. The use of the spell was banned after Star Swirl used it to save the kingdom from an alliance of griffons and dragons only to follow up by stealing the royal regalia from a heavily guarded vault.

That story was amazing. I enjoyed every second of it. I thought from the title it'd be a dumb joke story, but it was absolutely amazing. The cutie mark transitions were brilliant, and the entirety of the story was brilliantly written.

“Rarity! It's so wonderful to see you!”

Rarity's gaggle of unwanted admirers turned their collective heads and, upon witnessing the newcomer, nodded cordially and respectfully. Rarity, recognition swiftly dawning, span as quickly as dignity would allow and dropped into a low bow. “Princess Celestia! Where are my manners?”

Princess Celestia laughed, beckoning Rarity to stand. “Oh, come now. I think we've been through far too much to be standing on protocol, hmm? Stand, please!”

Hmm, now why does this sound familiar? :trollestia:

So I finally have time to read the league stories (three down, sixteen to go), and man, this one was so freaking awesome! I think what was most impressive about it was how you managed to keep everypony so in character even as events get wildly out of control and gloriously over the top -- by the end, Twilight is a fully fledged action hero, and yet at the same time, it still, somehow, feels like Twilight.

I said pretty much the same thing with Quills so you'll have to forgive me for repeating myself, but I think you have a real gift for pacing. The story starts off rather innocuously with Twi and Rarity going to Canterlot, ends with Twilight riding on the back of a cyborg dragon off to rescue all the hostages, and yet nothing in between felt forced or out of place... well, OK, I guess you could say that stuff like the missiles and the jet-packs were out of place in a land of magical talking ponies, but by that time all that comes up you're so along for the ride that you just accept it, and whatever reason you come up with ('Star Swirl's Ludicral Improbabilitinator').

Also, one more thing, I know everyone else has already mentioned it, but I loved how you used the cutie marks to show who'd perspective we were following. That was inspired, and it made everything read a lot more clearly then it otherwise might have done

It's going to be interesting to see how 'Twilight Sparkle Gets A Free Salad' compares to this. I still can't believe that you both thought up the exact same very specific idea completely independently of one another!

Wow man, this was pure genius at work. Excellent execution of an 80's action flick, while still somehow conforming to the show standards and characters. The plot devices were clever and the ending was predictable, but still cool and fitting to action movie tropes. The only thing missing are some cheesy one-liners, but nothing that really detracted from the rest.
