Darkstarling

I think far, far too hard about things. These things include magical ponies.

Twilight has never liked Discord, even after Fluttershy befriended him and brought him ostensibly to the side of good. And she's always happy to visit Fluttershy in her home without a whimsical and almost unstoppable Chaos God to complicate things. That Discord isn't here for Twilight's visit is wonderful news!

At least until Twilight sees how sad Fluttershy is, and asks her why. Discord is on a mission for Celestia, and it's incredibly serious.

It's good. I felt Fluttershy's worry. Although I'm kinda with Twilight at the beginning. ;)

Very sensible of you. Twilight's view of Discord is incomplete, but it isn't exactly wrong... I'm glad you liked it.

And finished, and good. i am legit cheering Discord on against Warhammer 40K. :D

Nice! And I like the mental image of Fluttershy becoming a symbol of kindness and hope in the alien-hating Imperium. XD

Just wait for the heretical iconography of Fluttershy confusing the Emperor with cuddles.

What I'm a little puzzled by is that Celestia sent Discord at all. After all, 40K isn't her world, and it's not like the badness from there was at any threat of encroaching on Equestria...was it?

Well it was a world close enough that Celestia could learn about it anyway. And even if wasn't an immediate threat, a universe like that is an infected wound in the multiverse that threatens to poison everything around it.

"Oops, that might have been the right thing to say"
"Oops, that might not have been the right thing to say"?

"And the only ones keeping the humans"
"And the only one keeping the humans"?

And here I was thinking Discord would return to Equestria complaining about having to wrangle his 4 disobedient children.

Brilliant work. Chaos is all things, and can thus learn from all things, so long as it's willing to listen rather than simply consume and subsume.

Also, I'm pretty sure Discord won over the Tau inside of ten minutes. What good could be greater than ponies?

Excellent portrayal of the ones left waiting, and of the potential a reformed chaos spirit represents. Thank you for this.

Thanks, it was my first story so I'm just glad it didn't come off as awful.

And yeah, Chaos is adaptability and change and transformation and creativity. Discord at it's purest is Individuality. Heck, he can even be on a quantum level with things like the Pauli Exclusion Principle. But he's learned from Fluttershy that you can bring your own unique voice to the choir without drowning everyone else out. He's moved from just noise to Jazz.

I figure that Discord's biggest enemies are Nurgle for perverting kindness, followed by Slaanesh both because it's particularly awful and because that takes the pressure off the Eldar. Then it can move on to the rest.

... Yeah, this is a bust all around. I can get Fluttershy's worry (even though Discord doesn't really need much), but what doomed this, is that Celestia makes herself out as someone who has the right to do this.

What gives her that right? What gives her the right to put herself as some kind police for the multiverse? Knowing about 40k's universe is fine, and doesn't feel out of reach.

Sticking her snout in like this, is no better than what some stories have her do to humanity (The Conversion Bureau), all because she thinks ponies have the right to do it.

Only saving grace is that Sunbutt only sent Discord, who actually has a chance of living for any length of time in the Imperium.

Yes, I read the story. Time I'll never get back in my life. No I'm not sorry.
