For some people, small, beautiful events are what life is all about!

Part of the Wibblyverse Continuity.
Part One of Doctor Whooves: Friendship is Wibbly Series 1
Next Story: Closer to the Void

The tenth Doctor has managed, through a strange quirk in time, to escape his regeneration, falling instead into a land of technicolor ponies-- which he has visited before. Even here, however, he isn't safe from harm, and an encounter with an old companion leaves him reeling. The Doctor made many mistakes in the Time War; can he even hope to make up for leaving behind his wife and infant daughter?

Was a bit skeptical at the beginning, but after a good placed reference to "Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy", and hilarious display of utter confusion delivered by Starswirl I had to say, good job! Definitely going to follow this story from the beginning, to the end. Can't wait for more!

Definitely following this, of course. You may wish to re-check the paragraphs, though: I believe they may have betrayed you.

And if you will forgive me one typo:

“You’re one to complain, with that scarf off yours,” she returned, her vigil against the guards never ceasing.

A marvelous beginning. And I love the Trousers metaphor. :moustache:

I think that's fixed it. Thanks!

This story is off to a promising start. The fragments of previous timelines were snappy, funny and adorable, yet paint a clear picture. The pacing is on point and the style of writing appeals to me somehow. I think it's the descriptions of things happening around the unfolding events, like Thunderlane's plans that help make the world feel alive.

I'll be curious to see how well this style of telling a story will hold up across a longer story.

Thank you! I hope you continue to enjoy the story.

so... doctor knows who ditzy is now. if the journals were anything to go by. how long till eithe rof them acknowledge this little tid bit?

9187039
fair enough... but you know how oblivious ponies are with the obvious

9187057
The Doctor is pretty oblivious too, let's not forget. He just knows that Ditzy married a Time Lord. He doesn't know which one.

Yet.

9187103
that, and we already know regenerations muddy the mind a little.

I am so happy this story is active. Can't wait to read what comes out next!

9192917
Oh, just you wait. There's a lot more where this came from...:pinkiehappy:

jelly baby!!!! xD

Would you care for a jelly baby?

Tom Baker is the GOAT. 🐐

The ending amused me enough for me to smile.

Meanwhile, Ditzy had become very quiet, and in all of the confusion , she slipped away.

Oh. Oh, dear.

Sometimes Jamie visits, though, with their daughter Ace.”

“Ace? That her real name?” the Doctor asked.

“No, it’s Amethyst Star. But she really hates being called that, so everyone just goes with Ace.”

The Doctor smirked slightly as he examined a series of readouts.

:rainbowlaugh::rainbowlaugh::rainbowlaugh:

One of the advantages of having smart characters would seem to be a minimum of unnecessary drama.

The stallion merely grinned, though he seemed hardly any more at ease. “If Occam ever met me, he’d grow a beard.”

What kind of name is ‘Dinkestra (Θ2)Σ*π/α Akitor Doo’ for a baby?

Oh, I am loving you so much right now! :rainbowlaugh:

Everypony shuddered at the memory. That had been the first and last Guy Fetlocks day that Ponyville had ever celebrated.

I almost fell out of my chair laughing!

Because that’s what the universe needed. the Doctor with a family he can absolutely spoil... :facehoof:

Well, then again... maybe that is what the universe needs. :moustache:

Marvelous tale. Pity I can only upvote it once.

That's about the highest compliment I could ever hope to receive! Thanks.

So her name translated into English is Dinkestra Beyesian inference Rose Doo.

9281038
What better middle name for a daughter of the Doctor than "Educated Guess"?

Love all of the references, and that you also have suspense for an arc involving his wife.

Derpydoc shipping is a relatively tough sell for me. It feels overdone. Too easy.

But you introduced an X-factor. By involving two incarnations (and a fantastic take on Best Pony) you took this above and beyond the average Gallifreyan/Equestrian romance. Thank you for it. Onward!

I thought Amethyst Star was Sparkler...AND...she's Darings' daughter !!!

NNNOOOO...When you wake up...you're going to still be a little HORSE !!!

Wow. This really drives home that this is not the usual depiction of Dinky. This is not an intelligent young filly without a bad bone in her body. This is a young filly whose father left her mother, whose childhood was tainted by a dark relationship. She is distrusting, and a little scary if I'm being honest.

That was exactly what I was going for! Thank you.

Twilight was no longer smiling. Her expression was now of concern and confusion. Applejack straightened up, surprised. Rainbow was rather less tactful. She snorted. “Do you seriously expect us to buy that story? Alien ponies?” She gave him a once-over, then glanced at Applejack and shook her head in derision. Applejack looked a little less sure than Rainbow. Either she was very gullible, or very good at telling when someone was telling the truth, the Doctor thought.

OK, so EQ Girls isn't canon to this verse.

Oh man, I forgot just how all in you went on Wilderness Years stuff from the get go. I know enough from trawling the Doctor Who Wiki to vaguely know what you're alluding to, and even the act of doing so made me regret the chain of events that lead me to it. I can't imagine knowing enough about that era to feel comfortable using it as background.

(Also hello again, I'm re-reading the whole series because I dropped off somewhere and now I have time, so I apologize in advance for what I assume will be a decent amount of comments in which I will probably mostly just be really impressed at the integration of allusions to the Wilderness Years)

And now I'm wondering about the limits of perceptions filters. I'm not quite sure they work like that, and I think I some source said that humanoid life in N-Space looked like Time Lords because of Gallifrey. But then again, it's not like I can trust any one source to not contradict six others, so...

Ah, yes, good old Zagreus, truly the magic mushrooms of Big Finish Audio, right down to the gratuitous Alice in Wonderland references. It's certainly plausible that Rassilon was enough of a maniac to eradicate all non-humanoid intelligences in the universe -- certainly, he was egotistical enough. But, well, if I accept that as canon, then I don't get as much of the lovely lovely Dr Nyarlathotep material, and I just can't give up my eldritch Time Lords so easily...

Applejack nodded slowly. “Both pegasi, got th’ same last name,

Well no, not really.

Daring dropped the second 'o' for publicity reasons.

He doesn't know does he? It's extremely weird reading a tenth Doctor knowing his future.

isn't' he married to river song

10504015
He married Ditzy as the 8th doctor. He doesn't marry River until the 11th.This is the Tenth Doctor as of the Series 4 finale, so He's only met River a handful of times at this point and has no idea who she is.

London, Winter of 2005 A.D .: The Doctor pulled a lever, vanishing away from his last glimpse of Rose Tyler.

I'm guessing that's supposed to be a reference to when the doctor pretends to be drunk in front of Rose, but if that's the case then it's a continuity error because he went 1 year before he met Rose when he did that and the show started in 2005 A.D. which would mean it would be 2004 A.D.

The stranger met his eyes. "I think," he said with the utmost seriousness, "that when I wake up, I'm going to be a little hoarse."

ok, I'm someone who's a fan of puns, and that hurt me!

also, I gotta ask, did that library scenario with 10 and River Song not happen because I see no way he could be friends with her now?

Am I the only one that is thinking that the doctor would've noticed a filly and colt spying on him

Dr. Derperella Ditzikov VanderDoo

Head canon: updated.

There are two things that never go together: The Doctor and "continuity" :pinkiehappy:

9273863
I dunno, sometimes beating the smart characters over the head with some drama is cathartic.

Ok, I am amused.on to the next story!
